My Thoughts:

I can’t wait for this book.  I have never been disappointed in a book by Taryn.  She brings sizzling heat to every story she tells.  Since this one actually has to do with cooking, I am sure it will be extremely hot in more ways than one.

My Review:

Bad Traveler describes Gwen Jones to a tee.  She doesn’t do well flying but she does her share in this eventful book. All in the name of love.

As a single parent all Gwen wants is to be a good mother to her daughter. She is accomplishing this by moving back home and starting a new bakery/coffee shop business.

As anyone with children knows, air travel with a six month old is a challenge. A chance meeting with a college friend Kyle Collins in the airport turns into a travel blessing.  Kyle is returning to be an assistant coach at the university.

Met at the airport by her Mom, the scene that made me laugh as much as it annoyed Gwen, occurred in the parking garage.
Charlotte drives a Mini.  This is the scene with the three of them.

“Mo-ooom, why didn’t you bring Dad’s car?”

“I don’t like to drive it, dear. It’s too big.”

“It’s a Honda Accord. It’s not that big.” There was a sharpness to her voice that he hadn’t heard before. Her mother’s eyes widened, aghast.

Gwen shook her head and rubbed her temples. “Sorry, I’m really tired. It’s been a long day. I’m just not sure the seat will fit rear-facing in this car.”

He surveyed the Mini and compared it to the pieces of luggage piled around. He hoped to avoid further conflict between the two. Gwen had had a rough day. His car was nearby and, besides, he wasn’t ready to say good-bye. Charlotte took charge.

“We can try putting the car seat in the back. Once that’s in, we can stack everything else around it. There’s a lot of room on the floor.”

He doubted anything would fit in the tiny car unless he played origami with the seats.

Surrounded by her family who loves them both helps the transition. Reuniting with Kyle adds the possibility of very steamy romance.

Trouble begins to brew when Gwen’s ex-boyfriend Chloe’s father comes to town unexpectedly and unwanted.

Lola Karns’ way with words is such that you feel every emotion fly  off the page.  I laughed, cried and held my breath a few times as well.

Well written and a great read.

I give this book 5 contented purrs.
