In Preparation for the Release of Ropin’ Hearts the latest in The Boot Knocker Ranch Series on June 9th
It’s all in her head. Until she falls into the hands – and hearts – of two cowboys.
Sexual dysfunction. The words make Sybill cringe, but after one too many failed relationships, she has to face reality. Her O-button is broken, big time. Sick of sitting on the sexual sidelines, she books a week at Boot Knockers Ranch. If a passel of rugged cowboys vying to bring her bliss can’t get her off, nothing will.
Hugh had planned to sit out this week’s rotation of sexual therapy, but when he spots sultry Sybill, he pulls rank. His bone-deep urge to possess her isn’t enough to coax elusive orgasms out of her body, though. And his resolve to give the lady whatever she needs wavers when she shyly makes a mind-blowing request.
Riggs stepped aside when Hugh muscled in to claim Sybill, but he jumps at the chance to fulfill her ultimate fantasy—a threesome. But once they come together, all barriers are stripped away, exposing his love for the one man—and woman—he’d break every last rule to make his own.
Warning: This ain’t your daddy’s ranch. Contains cowboys administering sexual therapy to frustrated ladies—and each other. Fresh batteries recommended. You’re gonna need ’em!
I saw this on sale and I had to buy it. You know I have one-clickitis so that was no big surprise. I have read other books by this author and with a new one coming out soon, what better time to start the series from the beginning. I do that so rarely.
So I dive in, not knowing quite what to expect other than it was going to be hotter than hot, based on the warning in the blurb. Well folks, I was swept away into the story from the first page. I love the mantra, that they kind of compete for the women and push voting buttons, to light up their chairs. You get an immediate sense of fun and competition that lightens the mood away from the problems.
The Master of the Games, Hugh felt a connection with Sybill even before she went on stage. So in spite of being off for the week, he puts himself in the game. His goal to win this “sexy secretary” away from whoever had been chosen for her. As questions were asked of her, Hugh presses his button for her. So does his friend Riggs and the man she was supposed to be with, Damien. Both other men end up stepping down but Riggs did so with an attitude. He really wanted Sybill.
Having won her, he thought her problem of not being able to orgasm would be easy to solve. This was not going to be the case.
I’ve been hard pressed to find a non sexual favorite passage but here is one of my favorites. It occurs while Sybill is sobering up from a couple glasses of wine and runs into Riggs.
“I read your file. Says you’re a molecular biologist.”
She gave an enthusiastic nod that made her pale hair slither over her shoulders. He distracted himself by taking another sip of his coffee, barely able to keep from wincing at the flavor.
“What exactly do you do?” he asked.
“I fiddle with information mostly. Create testing for pharmaceutical companies about the effects of drugs on humans and also animals.”
“So you gather the information about the human bodies other people play God with.”
“Yes, just as you want to do with the horses.”
They smiled at each other, the link between them undeniable. He finally dropped his gaze to the coal-black coffee he held. “You know, my mother was ill for a long time. First lupus then lots of kidney and heart problems from the disease.”
Sibyll leaned over the arm of the chair and rested a hand on his biceps. “I’m sorry to hear that.”
He scuffed his knuckles over his jaw. “I appreciate it. Anyway, sometimes the side effects of the drugs were much worse than the symptoms. And sometimes she took drugs to counteract the problems created by other drugs.”
Sibyll pursed her lips in a sympathetic expression. “It happens.”
After drawing another sip into his mouth, he could barely swallow it.
“Why are you trying to drink that coffee if it’s that bad?” Amusement danced in her eyes.
“You know, you’re right.” He set the cup down and leaned against the chair back, crossing his ankle over his knee. Several minutes passed between them in silence, but it was far from uncomfortable. The glazed look she’d worn from the wine dissipated, replaced by the calm face of an angel.
“Everyone has a struggle in life, it seems,” she said softly.
Riggs studied her. More than once he’d had a woman spill her history of heartbreak or abuse. It sometimes purged and the woman was able to move on. He had to tread carefully, but he had to know. “What’s yours?”
Sibyll shot him a long look. “Hugh thinks I can’t ask for the things I want.”
Electricity shot straight to Riggs’s fingertips. He clenched them. “And what do you want?” The sparks between their gazes were a phenomenon all their own. He’d only experienced such a thing with Hugh.
Setting aside her empty mug, she turned completely lucid eyes on Riggs. “I want that threesome. With you.”
I swear, with each turn of the page, the heat went up several notches. I now understand why there is a warning with the blurb. The dynamic between Hugh and Riggs when coupled with helping Sybill reach her goal, made even breathing difficult.
I did some giggling at the antics and drank lots of cold drinks. A personal fan and cold showers were definitely required for this read. Of course you could also go with your BOB.
