Lone wolves are challenging the Talon Pack Alpha Gideon, with increasing frequency and none of them have had the dominance to win. On top of this, it is becoming apparent that wolves will not be a hidden entity much longer. In an effort to control how the wolves are made public, the Redwood and Talon packs have a meeting to discuss how this should be done. This is where the fun begins.
Brie has known Gideon is her mate since she was seventeen. The problem, she is a submissive wolf, and as such really isn’t suited to be an Alpha’s mate. She has managed to avoid meeting him since that day so long ago, now her hiding is over. Kane, Alpha of the Redwood pack has ordered her to be at the meeting with the Talon pack.
When Gideon meets Brie, he knows right away she’s his mate, and a submissive. Since she doesn’t acknowledge anything he decides fate made a mistake and is going to ignore this little fact. Unfortunately for him the elders of his pack have other ideas. In an effort to exert their power the elders decide to invoke the Mating Clause on the Alpha “for the good of the pack”. Faced with a forced mating Gideon tells the elders he has found his potential mate but has not had the opportunity to pursue her. When Brie discovers this she travels to meet with Gideon. Better to have the mate the Goddess has given them than to have one forced by the elders and witches.
The mating instinct is strong with these two and they can’t seem to keep their hands off each other. With this starting backwards and they really don’t know each other, Gideon is way too overprotective of her. This is making it difficult for Brie to find her place in the pack.
Top that off with the elder Shannon hating her and the surprise appearance of a wolf who should be dead and the sparks really start flying. The pack has an internal problem that could mean the end of the current relative peace if Gideon and Brie don’t get it together.
I loved this book, the intricate weaving of the story as Gideon and Brie find their paths in spite of everything that is against them.

Carrie Ann Ryan
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan never thought she’d be a writer. Not really. No, she loved math and science and even went on to graduate school in chemistry. Yes, she read as a kid and devoured teen fiction and Harry Potter, but it wasn’t until someone handed her a romance book in her late teens that she realized that there was something out there just for her. When another author suggested she use the voices in her head for good and not evil, The Redwood Pack and all her other stories were born.
Carrie Ann is a bestselling author of over twenty novels and novellas and has so much more on her mind (and on her spreadsheets *grins*) that she isn’t planning on giving up her dream anytime soon
