The Sixth Book in the Outsiders Series
Fireborn Publishing, LLC. (October 9, 2015)
Marina awakes with no memories of her life to discover she’s a prisoner of the Outsiders. Her captors think she’s one of them and she should be helping them with an eternal war, waged over lifetimes and dimensions. She wants her freedom, yet she also needs to know why Drew gazes at her with such heat in his eyes.
Drew runs from his destiny and Marina for as long as he can. She won’t believe him, but he does it to protect her from the evil inside of him, a connection to a demon who wants to destroy the Outsiders. Now, he has no choice but to embrace his destiny with Marina. War has come to their doorstep. The signs have signaled. And battle waits for no one.
This book was a gift in exchange for an honest review.
As the tale continues we now know of all the Outsiders. In this one the Outsiders are living in the caves of their ancestors. Marina, who lost her memory in a magical blast six months ago, feels as if she is a kidnap victim. Still no closer to regaining her memory, Drew decides to use tough love and issues a challenge to her in the chamber where their parents failed to capture the demon, leaving her surrounded by evil, to find her way out of the maze.
Since nothing is ever easy, Sebastian attacks with earthquakes and transports Marina to St Croix where Alexa awaits her. Alexa is but a shell of what she might have been, craving blood instead of food, I almost feel sorry for her.
Just as Drew is about to open himself to Sebastian in order to find her, Marina gets it all together, and by all together I mean WOW together. This is part of the conversation, when they are together with Alexa and Sebastian pops in, one of my favorite scenes.
“Sebastian.” Alexa pulled herself out of Marina’s touch. “You have to help me.
You have to tell me what to do.”
“No one has ever told you what to do in more lifetimes than I can count.” Marina spoke only to Alexa and it finally dawned on Drew what was going on. Marina had gotten her powers back and she’d really possessed them this time. Things she’d always been able to do but hadn’t worked out how to tap into yet before she lost her abilities flooded through her. Marina had never once been able to see past lives before. Every other word out of her mouth was about things the rest of them couldn’t know.
That couldn’t be normal.
“Sebastian.” Drew stepped toward the demon and stared right at him so the creature would know Drew did indeed see him. “You have no place here. Be gone with you.”
“No.” Sebastian hissed. “It’s the two of you who have no business being in this world. It belongs to me. Always has, always will. And I’ve taken steps. You’ll never even know it happened. This is my turn. Mine.”
“Oh, for the love of…” Marina snarled and waved her hand in the air. The demon’s eyes got big before he vanished from the room.
Drew cocked his head to the side. “That’s so fucking cool.”
“He was boring me.”
“You made him go poof.”
She grinned, the first real smile she’d bestowed since he arrived. “Yeah, I did.”
Once again lots of stuff going on, We find out about a scribe, the others find out about Gia, Rachel and Zane. Sebastian’s mother shows up. They all end up at a beginning and damn this book is too quick to end.
Waiting impatiently for the next installment of this series.
I did find a few grammatical errors, but they weren’t enough to distract from the excitement. Mostly missing words. An example. She shoved them her pocket hoping Marina didn’t notice.
Five Contented Purrs and an editing hiss for Rebecca!
Love Beyond Time | Love Beyond Sanity
Love Beyond Loyalty | Love Beyond Sight
As a teenager, I would hide in my room to read my favorite romance novels when I was supposed to be doing my homework. I hope, these days, that my parents think it was worth it.
I am the mother of three adorable boys and I am fortunate to be married to my best friend. I live in Austin Texas where I am determined to eat all the barbecue in town.
I am in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and try to use all of these elements in my writing. I’ve been told I’m a little bloodthirsty so I hope that when you read my work you’ll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. I love to write series because I love to see characters develop over time and it always makes me happy to see my favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.
In my world anything is possible, anything can happen, and you should suspect that it will.
I’d love to hear from you!
Cheers!!
