Welcome to Carol Kittie’s Christmas Favorites for 2015. # 3
Sealed Until Christmas by SM Butler
After avoiding Sugar Falls for three years, Navy SEAL Jesse Richter is sent home for rest and relaxation, but he knows R&R is the last thing he’ll get there. His hometown was the scene for the worst day of his life, and now he’s got no choice but to confront that memory and finally attempt to move on.
As the daughter of a con man, Charlie Morgan knew better than to put down roots. Now she’s adjusted to a new life with her adoptive family, and settled into a nice routine of work and school. Her troubled past is long behind her, or so she had thought.
Both haunted by the ghosts of Christmases past, Jesse and Charlie only want a fresh start at life… but the secrets of a missing con man could kill any hope of Christmas future.
This title is #4 in the Lucky Thirteen series, though all books can be read as standalone stories.
I bought this during the summer but waited until now to read it. I love military romance and this book is no exception.
Navy Seal Jesse Richter is home for Christmas and his time is being monopolized by his family and friends. That’s about to change because he meets a beautiful waitress Charlie. He finally thinks he can let go of the past, with her.
Charlie Morgan is the adopted daughter of the town’s mayor and has a criminal history thanks to her birth father. She also has a secret one she must keep to protect the ones she loves.
Jesse doesn’t give up easy and as many SEALS seem to, falls hard and fast for Charlie. He is determined to fix things for her, if only she will open up to him.
As this story unwinds you can feel and see the toll the internal struggles are taking on both of the characters. Trust isn’t easy and love is even harder.
An emotional and sexy book, plenty of action and lots of surprises. Have some tissues handy you just might need them.
5 Contented Purrs for Suzan!
S.M. Butler, sometimes writing under Suzan Butler is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of new adult romantic suspense and military romance. She also writes adult contemporary romance on occasion. She lives in Texas under a not-so-secret identity with two ferocious boy monsters that only occasionally do her bidding.
Between herding them to and from the monster academy, and writing books, she’s busy planning the next step in her evil plans to take over the world so she can wear a tiara all the time and people will stop looking at her weird. So obviously, she doesn’t take herself that seriously and neither should you. Please feel free to poke around and see what’s up.
