Magnolia Holden fled the Black Hills Wolves with her family during the reign of Magnum, terrified for her life and for that of her older sister Betty, who she had to leave behind. She has never wanted to go back to Los Lobos and face her terror of the enforcer, Ryker. Instead she lives happily in Sioux Falls helping her parents run their dress shop and dreaming of Clayton Davies, the human mystery writer who she loves but believes she can never have.

But there is murder happening in the Black Hills and when Betty’s mate, the Alpha Drew, lies at death’s door, Mags will have to return and face her worst nightmares over and over again.

Only this time she won’t be alone. Clayton loves Mags, and he is a man who knows how to look into the darkness and come out the other side. Together, they will help Ryker seek a killer who wants humans dead. If they can both live through the night…

Winter Blog Review

If you haven’t read the first 2 books go do that now, I added the links to buy them below. It really enhances your reading experience.

Drew is still in a coma and the bullets aren’t working their way out as was hoped. With the discussion of surgery, Betty needs family around. All this stress can’t be good for her unborn child. She needs to take care of herself better.

Magnolia (Mags) is Betty’s sister and she has a secret, she is in love with a human mystery writer Clayton Davies. She meets him every day at the Perkulator for coffee even though she doesn’t like coffee.  Since he’s human she thinks its impossible to have him, even though he is her mate.  When they share a first kiss she runs from him to save him, and ends up going to Los Lobos with her father to be with Betty. Her pregnant sister needs the soothing calmness of her omega wolf while she is under so much stress.

Nobody, least of all Mags, expected Clayton to follow her to Los Lobos. When he does Mags admits she is his mate to Ryker to keep him safe.  Right after this little revelation is one of my favorite scenes.

“Can you shift?”

Her eyebrows shot up. “Right now?”

“Unless you have something else to do.” Like an appointment he didn’t know about.

She stepped back dropping his hand. “It may freak you out.”

“I’ve seen a lot of really bad things in  my life. There’s a reason I was a cop for only five years. I decided if I was going to run around in the muck of the world, it might as well be from my own imagination. Your carrying the soul of a creature I admire for it’s loyalty? Not bothering me.”

A tear slipped from her eye, and he reached out to bat it away. His spine stiffened. Mags should never, ever cry.

They didn’t expect Ryker to accept his help with their investigation either. Clay had been a police detective and can look at the murders from a different angle. Being human and mated to a wolf he can also be bait.

This book is different in that we have a female wolf mating a human and the murderer speaks to us, sort of. Telling us he is smarter than everyone, and also telling us what he is planning next.

LOVE the romance, LOVE the build up, and OMG the ending! Can’t wait to read the next one. See below for the links to the other two so you can catch up!

Winter Blog About Author
Rebecca Royce Rebecca Royce

As a teenager, I would hide in my room to read my favorite romance novels when I was supposed to be doing my homework. I hope, these days, that my parents think it was worth it.

I am the mother of three adorable boys and I am fortunate to be married to my best friend. I live in Austin Texas where I am determined to eat all the barbecue in town.

I am in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and try to use all of these elements in my writing. I’ve been told I’m a little bloodthirsty so I hope that when you read my work you’ll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. I love to write series because I love to see characters develop over time and it always makes me happy to see my favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.

In my world anything is possible, anything can happen, and you should suspect that it will.

I’d love to hear from you!

Cheers!!
