Cancun Series #2
A year after her divorce, Lilly Girard is busy rebuilding her life and future. Devoted to her two small boys, she’s a successful attorney for her family’s international corporation, runs in Chicago’s elite social circles, and has a full life. She doesn’t want a man around every day to complicate things, but when her brother’s former boss offers to make her bedroom fantasies come true, is Lilly ready to retake that part of her life back?
Josh “Madman” Madden is using the Cancun wedding of his friend and former Lieutenant Jack Girard, as cover to hunt down a group of ISIS terrorists headed to the United States. Because of his job, Josh isn’t a good candidate for marriage or fatherhood, but he can spend his nights fulfilling the dreams of his buddy’s very tempting sister. What he doesn’t expect is to find he’s created new dreams of his own.
When their worlds collide, Lilly needs a super hero, but Josh has to save the United States.
I feel like the Mayan Nites Nightclub is my fantasy getaway place. Well at least the place I get to meet the characters that will play the important roles in the book. I recommend reading these books in order to get the most out of them. You will meet many recurring characters. I have the buy links for them all below.
Jack and Jillian (Christmas in Cancun) are getting married and we are at the club to begin the week of wedding festivities. Jack’s friend and former commander Josh (Madman) Madden is here to perform the ceremony, but also to work as well. Lilly has accompanied Jack and Jillian even though she feels a little out of place.
Josh is waiting for Jack to arrive, watching his former lieutenants dance with the female pilots he was introduced to a few minutes ago. Then he is introduced to Lilly, and well sparks start to fly.
When a sewer pipe in his hotel breaks, Josh becomes a guest at the Girard compound. Then the fun begins, starting at breakfast. This is one of my favorite passages but unfortunately it holds a critical editing mistake. Jillian should be Lilly.
Jack leaned in next to her ear so no one else heard.
“Tomorrow morning you might want to consider a different top. Yours was nearly transparent when soaked with sweat, but I’m quite sure Josh appreciated the show. Watching him fight to keep his eyes off you all through breakfast was the most fun I’ve had with him since SEAL Team Two sent him a stripper for his promotion to captain.”
Jillian looked down at the light-weight white top, now stiff with perspiration.
Josh has his eye on Lilly and she has one on him too. An interesting evening with a phone call from her ex-husband while held in Josh’s arms then a revealing pacing of the courtyard.
I was really pissed off while reading every conversation had with her ex Brighten Carlisle. Such an inconsiderate, self-center jerk, who shouldn’t have been allowed to breed. Although I really like his children, Devon and Kalista from his previous marriage (before Lilly) and of course I adore Preston and Grayson. Preston grows up fast because of situations beyond his control. But has the love and support of his Uncle Jack and Josh as well as his Mom.
The impending purchase of a couple of cruise ships by the Girard Corporation, intertwines with Josh’s reason for being in Cancun for work. Human trafficking is only a part of what is going on.
Gangs pickpocketing, abduction, terrorism intertwined with a hot and sexy affair and a couple of weddings. I couldn’t put this down until the end.
I can’t wait to see what the next episode with the Girard family holds for us.

KaLyn Cooper’s romances blend fact and fiction with blazing heat and heart-pounding suspense. Twenty-two years as a military wife has shown KaLyn the world, and thirty years in PR taught her that fact can be stranger than fiction. She leaves it up to the reader to separate truth from imagination. She, her husband, and bird dog live in Tennessee on a micro-plantation filled with gardens, cattle, and quail. When she’s not writing, she’s at the shooting range or on the river.
