To say this book is sizzling hot is an understatement. It starts right in with a conversation (see excerpt below) that leads to, well, let’s just say a dressing room will never be the same for Erika.

Rodrigo is suave, handsome and exudes sexiness. An alpha male used to getting what he wants and what he wants is Erika.

Erika is divorced with two adult daughters, her self esteem is almost non-existent. Her ex-husband made sure of that.

Rigo is unlike anyone Erika has ever been with. Their meeting at the Erotic Gift store the beginning of something Erika is not sure she is ready for. Rigo on the other hand is more than ready for her, he is already sure there is something more that must be explored.

Erika has no idea of the lengths Rigo will go to see her again. When they unexpectedly meet the stakes are far more than just a relationship.

This is an extremely explicit and erotic tale, spun in a way that will keep you turning the pages.

5 Contented Purrs for Francesca!

Keep reading for one of my favorite scenes as Erika and Rigo meet.

His dark eyes caressed the curves of her buttocks like a warm hand. Erika Larson-Bergstrom shivered as she glanced at him out the corner of her eye. She licked her lips as his gaze captured hers and he smiled, unnerving her while at the same time arousing her until she ached with need.

A part of her wondered if her mischievous twenty-two-year-old twin daughters had set this up. After all, they were the ones who’d given her the $100 gift certificate for Erotically Bound, the upscale Minneapolis adult store she shopped in right now. But the man eyeing her was no twenty-two-year-old kid. He was all man and she wanted to explore every inch of him…intimately.

Erika looked down at the lingerie she fingered, trying to clear her lust-filled mind. Her biggest problem was that she’d spent the last twelve years rearing her daughters as a single mom. She could count on one hand the number of men she’d dated during that time. The number she’d slept with was even less. She was just horny and needed to get laid, and he was the answer to a horny woman’s prayer.

“Miss, could you assist me?” His voice was warm and deep with the hint of an Antonio Banderas-style Spanish accent. She looked up into the warmest brown eyes she’d ever seen. At least he’d called her “miss” and not “ma’am”.

“Assist you?”

“Yes, I must buy a gift for a lady and I have no idea what she might want.”

“Oh.” Erika forced a smile to her tight lips. “Sure.”

Well, that certainly burst her bubble. He had a woman he was shopping for. It figured. Of course it should have been a relief he wasn’t buying undies for himself since he was shopping in the women’s lingerie section, but she’d been dreaming he might possibly be as attracted to her as she was to him. No such luck.

He wanted a buddy to help him shop for another woman. Shit. Buddy seemed to be the only way men viewed her—especially lately—and it was almost always because she was a plus-size woman. Women with big butts liked sex too. Damn men, anyway.

“So what’s the gift for? Your anniversary? Her birthday?”

“Anniversary? No.” He laughed.

She liked his laugh…a lot. He threw himself into it. His head back and his hands running through his hair. Thick, black hair. Yum.
Focus, Erika. Do not notice the full, wide lips and straight, white teeth. The high cheekbones. She swallowed, her gaze skimming over him. The broad shoulders, narrow hips and tight ass. Forget how hot he is. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t ignore his appeal.

“I’m shopping for my administrative assistant.”

“Your…?” Oh geez. Sleeping with an employee. Could it get worse?

He waved his hand as he read her expression. “No, she is getting married and this place has a bridal registry.”

“A bridal registry? You’ve got to be kidding.” Erika raised her brows.

“I know. It sounds insane, and so I told her. But she assured me it was so.” He pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to her. “Here is a list of things the clerk printed for me that have not yet been purchased for her. My assistant is very organized and wants no duplicates.”

Erika looked at the list he held and realized he was telling the truth. It consisted of lingerie, loungewear, dresses, shoes and, good grief, sex toys and movies.

“Yes. I refuse to buy her some of these items. I am her friend, yes, but her employer first. Can you imagine if I showed up at the office bridal shower with,” he took the list back, glaring at it while shaking his head in disbelief, “a Rotating G-Spot Rabbit Vibrator?”

“It would certainly be the talk of the party,” Erika agreed dryly.

About the Author Spring Blog

Francesca Hawley  Francesca Hawley
Hi. I’m Francesca Hawley and I’m a fat chick. A woman with dangerous curves just like my heroines.

Many people don’t like the word, “fat” but I do because it’s the truth and I’ve learned to own it. I am a fat chick and I always will be. When I first began to read romance, the heroines were all thin. I kept wondering, where were the fat heroines? I wanted to read about a fat chick who loved herself—or at least learned to love herself—and a hot alpha hero who liked her jiggly bits just the way they were. Since I didn’t find many big girls to read about, I decided to write about them, so Francesca Hawley – author of Romance with Dangerous Curves was born.

In a Francesca Hawley romance, my readers will find authentic, sensual, fat heroines who love and are loved by their intense, passionate, and seductive Alpha heroes. I hope you enjoy their dangerous curves just as much as their hunky heroes do.

Hiding With The Heartbreaker

by Virginia Nelson

Hiding with the Heartbreaker

Blurb Spring Blog - Copy

Rule: Protect the innocent.
Making people laugh for a living is easy, but when a beautiful stranger needs Aloysius Sutton’s help, he has to find a way to become Jude’s hero.

Review Spring Blog - Copy

I want to thank Virginia Nelson for giving me her novella in this wonderful collection to review.

The characters in this novella make some interesting mistakes right from the start.

Jude witnesses something at the gallery where she is hosting a showing. She just isn’t sure what she saw which makes her look guilty. She makes her mistake by running from something that’s not her fault. On top of that she involves her pregnant sister and brother-in-law who arrange for someone to help her hide for a while.

Al had just finished another funny video for his internet following. He has taken some time off, much to the dismay of his business partner, to go visit with his mentor who is in a coma. That’s when he remembered the “Rule” and got the call to help Jude.

Jude and AL are like oil and water. Jude is so uptight, scared and paranoid, she can’t stand anything Al does to try to ease her fears. The more he tries the more prickly she becomes.

A favorite scene is when they stop for the night, hidden from the eyes of any rangers patrolling.

“I’m guessing you couldn’t sleep?” His voice jarred her, breaking the almost eerie silence of the night, and she twisted around to try to see him in the darkness.

“Yeah, too many thoughts in my head for rest.” Sighing, she patted her rock in an inviting way. “Look, like I said before, I’m sorry we got off to such a bumpy start. I’m not usually so terse, but I was freaked out.”

The honest words didn’t cost her anything, but she couldn’t read his face in the starlight to see if it mattered to him either way.

“Have you looked up?” he asked.

Instead of answering, she tilted her head back. His thigh was warm against hers, so for a second, she didn’t register what she saw.

But then the almost magical glitter of a thousand diamonds thrown against the night sky took her breath away. It was as if the sky was split—an almost perfect line of stars at the thickest point which tapered off. She wasn’t sure if she could see colors, exactly, but she wasn’t sure she couldn’t either. “Wow. What is that?”

“You’re looking into the Milky Way. I remember when I was a kid, growing up in Dallas, I thought that the stars were all spread out, you know? Like they were no more than confetti.

Some in random constellations, sure, but not really clumped so much. I got sent to a camp in Montana when I was a kid—blah, blah, blah, poor little rich kid behaved badly and was sent away from home—and one night I looked up. And I saw this. From then I have to admit I researched more, looked at it through telescopes and whatnot, but there’s something special about a really dark sky and being able to see it with your own eyes, if that makes sense.”

His voice was soft, a rumbling whisper of sound which soothed parts of her she hadn’t realized were still edgy. Without thinking about it beforehand, she leaned her head on his shoulder and kept looking skyward. “Yeah, it does. This is spectacular. This is the stuff of artist’s dreams and creator’s inspiration.”
Hero.docx (Kindle Locations 339-354). Kindle Edition.

Al and Jude have to face their demons both together and apart. With family and others complicating things along the way, this is a delightful comedy of errors. All leading up to hot sex, heartbreak and romance to remember.

5 Contented Purrs for Virginia!

I can’t wait to read the rest of the “Rules” in this collection.

About the Author Spring Blog

Virginia Nelson  Virginia Nelson

Virginia Nelson believed them when they said, “Write what you know.” Small town girl writing small town romance, her characters are as full of flaws, misunderstandings, and flat out mistakes as Virginia herself.

When she’s not writing or plotting to take over the world, she likes to hang out with the greatest kids in history, play in the mud, drive far too fast, and scream at inanimate objects.

Virginia likes knights in rusted and dinged up armor, heroes that snarl instead of croon, and heroines who can’t remember to say the right thing even with an author writing their dialogue.

Her books are full of snark, sex, and random acts of ineptitude—not always in that order.

Vampire Prince falls in love with raven haired beauty from afar…

Scratch that, this is not your mamma’s paranormal romance.

At Grigori University there is a different kind of student body. The Deviant Class. They are the things that kept you awake in the night; the dreams that held you close. From the Vampires to Dragon born, Purebloods and half, there is tension as they are pushed into the laps of human society.

Keegan Teague is a vampire Lord, a prince amongst his kind and the integration is his project, all was going well, until he is blindsided by a woman.

Excerpt Spring Blog - Copy

I watched her as she stared off into the space between the blackboard and the clock. This raven haired beauty that had chewed through more than a dozen pens in class in just a couple of weeks. I have been wondering just what has the girl so frustrated. I have also wondered what it would be like if she wrapped those well glossed lips around my cock rather than that plastic pen cap. Sitting in the back of the lecture hall with the rest of the deviant class I can watch her, but she’s not ready. Not yet. But soon… Ahh… the opening spring lecture.

“Grigori University is a special kind of school. After the Great Unveiling in the early 21st century we Otherkind have lived in relative peace with the humans. Sharing our technology, and of course donating our dead to the sciences has kept governments at bay, and Grigori is one of North Eastern America’s leading mixed schools. It took some rallying to get us here. But it’s been two years and so far we haven’t had any riots so there’s always that to write home to mom and dad about.”

A scattering of laughter filled the room and the raven haired girl looked back over her shoulder, her eyes scanning the darkness of the high seats, until I felt them settle for an instant on me. My heart raced at the thought that she may have finally noticed me as I’ve noticed her. Hunger filled the pit of my stomach; I had to close my eyes to hide the glow that would have startled the room. When I opened them again her glance had moved on and I was left feeling lonely.

About the Author Spring Blog

Shannon (S. I.) Hayes has been telling tales for so long as she has been able to talk, and began writing them down shortly thereafter. The In Dreams… Series, The Roads trilogy, began in 2006 after a D&D campaign ended, Hayes took the world and a series was created. It took five years as she spent many months at a time in an undiagnosed Bi-Polar fog. In 2010, she finally found the help she needed and she has been writing feverishly ever since. Shannon is the Co-Author of Awakenings: The Wrath Saga. She has several blogs and maintains her own website.

In her own words… I have a mind that is easily distracted and prone to wandering. Tangents are my forte, and if you think my characters are going to fit a cookie cutter shape of any kind, think again. They live, they love, they eat, sleep, and fuck. I believe that people are inherently sexual creatures and my characters, be they human or something altogether else, are no exception.

I don’t adhere to a single genera, I toe the line on several and wouldn’t presume to be a master of any. So I suppose you could call me jack-of-all-trade-paperbacks.

I am a truth seeker, in my life, in my work. I’d apologize for it, but I kinda can’t help m’self. It’s my best and worse personality trait, well mostly. Being Bi-Polar I guess you could say that is the worst. But I believe that the disorder has made me, well… Me.

I have taken this life and twisted, carved, shaped, and molded it into the worlds of my characters. Albeit with a chainsaw, and it has made all the difference.

Any of you who have been reading these books, but missed a few like I did, will appreciate this one more than ever.I now thoroughly understand where Colt got his anger and arrogance from. He really does storm right in with bad intentions and ends up pretty much in the same state as he did when he challenged Magnum. Only difference is he wakes up in the same place, not somewhere far away.

One of my favorite scenes is that confrontation with Drew, Gee and Ryker.

The son of a bitch had the gall to grin at him. What did Drew find amusing about this? He was about to be challenged, called out, and killed. Colt would do what he hadn’t been strong enough to do when Magnum had been in charge— take over the pack and finally lead them out of the Tao darkness.

“Drew Tao,” Colt had to speak the words correctly so Ryker and the others couldn’t interfere.

His cousin shook his head, looking over the bar to Gee who had stayed quiet the whole time. Colt had never been able to get a real read on the Were-bear, who played his cards close to his chest.

“Don’t kill him. I think he has guts. I want him around. At least for now.”

“What?” Colt shook his head. This wasn’t how things were done. He’d come to make a challenge. Drew needed to listen. “Drew Tao, I….”

Gee stepped out from behind the bar. If the Bear thought to throw him out again as he’d done ten years earlier, he could go ahead and try. If he landed on the street, Colt would shout his challenge from there. One way or the other, he would fight Drew for control of the pack. Hell would freeze over before he’d follow his cousin’s lead.

Drew walked toward him, but when he would have faced him, he headed for the exit instead. Was he cowardly? Is that why he left?

Colt had thought his cousin would be many things, but afraid hadn’t been one of them. Anger warred with frustration, and he growled, feeling his teeth elongate in his mouth. Colt had been waiting for this fight since the day Drew had taken off for who knew where and left them all to suffer at the hands of Magnum.

A whack to his head brought him up short. What the hell? Several seconds passed before he realized Gee stood behind him, holding a baseball bat. Stars passed in front of his eyes while Gee moved in front of him.

“Pup. Pass out. I don’t want to hit you again.”

“I’m not a pup anymore.” Why was it so hard to talk? The whole world went black.
When Hell Freezes (Black Hills Wolves Book 6) (Kindle Locations 62-78). Decadent Publishing. Kindle Edition.

What ensues is frustrating confrontations with Drew, lively exchanges with Tasha, and dealing with some pack security issues.  A wonderfully quick read with lots of all the good stuff.

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Amara Young has always been on the outside looking in. She’s the one lightning-struck woman out of her group who has never felt as if she’s belonged. She lost a year of her life caring for her dying friend, but now it’s her turn to find out who she is. Only when the time comes, two men stand in her way—two men who claim her as theirs.

Tristan Archer, fae royalty and Conclave member, has waited over nine hundred years for his fate. And now he has two chances. While one knows his path, the other seems blind to what they could have. It will take more than a simple risk for Tristan to finally have what he desires…that is if Amara and Seth can overcome their own uncertainties.

While the other two in his life are fighting themselves and their futures, Seth Oceanus knows exactly what he wants. The younger brother of a Conclave member and relatively young in his realm, he knows he’ll have to prove himself so others see him for who he truly is.

As the triad succumbs to their cravings, they will have to fight more than their overwhelming feelings in order to survive.

Warning: Contains an innocent merman, a very talented fae, and a human woman who can outpace them both.

Review Spring Blog - Copy

I felt Amara’s fear and apprehension as she was confronted by the two men that believed her to be their mate. She didn’t feel the pull of the bond like the others did. There was something wrong, not just different.

Tristan and Seth have their own issues with this. It took quite a bit of convincing from the other lightening struck and their mates for them to approach her. Amara put a lot of faith and trust in them when she agreed to go to Tristan’s home so the three of them could talk about what they were feeling. They all put everything on the line in the hopes of mating and the bond forming.

This is one of my favorite scenes taking place after they make the attempt to bond. Their intense feelings for each other making it seem so right.

Tears slid over Amara’s cheeks and her body shook as she wept. Tristan held them both, silent but stoic. Seth couldn’t speak, couldn’t formulate the words for what this meant. Instead, he ran his hands over Amara’s back and promised himself that he wouldn’t let her leave them— bond or no.

When he finally opened his mouth to speak, Amara froze. Her body twisted one way then the other as she lifted her torso off him, her mouth open in a silent scream.

Tristan cursed and quickly sat up, bringing her into his arms. “She’s changing,” he bit out. “Fuck, I didn’t know it would hurt her this bad.”

Seth scrambled up and went to Amara’s other side, holding her close, rocking her body back and forth.

“What does this mean?” he asked Tristan, who looked worried as hell.

“I don’t know,” he gasped. “I just don’t fucking know.”

Amara’s body would only change to her paranormal half once she’d made love to her mate or mates. That’s how the lightning-struck worked. Yet the bond hadn’t come to be between the three of them.

It didn’t make any sense.

Seth couldn’t think about all of that yet. His mate, his Amara was in pain, and he couldn’t fix it. Instead, he did his best to hold her close and prayed her agony would end soon.

What happened once she woke? Well… that was something they would have to figure out. Because something had happened, and it wasn’t like the others.

When it came to the three of them, nothing seemed to be.
An Immortal’s Song (Dante’s Circle Book 6) (Kindle Locations 690-702). Kindle Edition.

The things come to light as they find out what Amara has become are not only dangerous, they could be fatal. There are many threats to their happiness, but the greatest is the one that is preventing the mating bond.

A fast paced, action packed, intriguing read. The coming together even without the bond was extremely hot. I was holding my breath waiting for the outcome, especially once Amara started changing.

The sneak peek we got of Malik and Eliana has me waiting impatiently for their story as well. Thank goodness it’s only a month away.

Synopsis Spring Blog - Copy

Saved from a traumatic past and successful in her present as a home care nurse, Josselyn Adler’s dream of home ownership in the idyllic town of Unity are dashed to pieces when Dr Ben Parnell, a cancer specialist, shows up on her doorstep claiming to be the rightful owner of the house—and Ben has a will to prove it! To Josselyn, the house represents a new start in her life. With a stable home, hopefully a much wanted family wouldn’t be far behind.

After a near career-ending allegation is made, Ben has returned home to lick his wounds. But now he must prove Josselyn’s claim to be a fake, that she used her position as a live-in nurse to his sick father to ingratiate herself into his good graces. But as he gets to know her, he can tell by her shy, often standoffish behavior, that Josselyn is a woman who has been deeply hurt in her past. Although he is attracted to the dark haired beauty that has invaded his life, he is still suspicious of her true motives and her past involvement with his father.

A truly unique beginning for this tale, with two wills leaving the house to two different people. I really wasn’t sure how Ben and Josselyn would ever overcome their differences. Ben a successful doctor with a past and a lot of anger, and Josselyn a nurse who never really had a home let alone a house.

It’s Joss’ personality and honesty that I think truly helps Ben discover what he really wants.
This is part of a favorite scene, one that takes place after a particularly disturbing discoveries. and Ben takes Joss to spot in town with special meaning for him.
For the first time since their meeting, Josselyn totally believed Ben’s sincerity. She smiled. “That’s an absolutely lovely sentiment.”

“And this is absolutely lovely,” he said, stroking her cheek with his fingertips.

She hoped the afternoon brought an understanding between them. The past, however, whispered to her not to always believe what she wanted desperately to be true. Ben might seem sincere at the moment, but he wanted something from her— her house. He was a brilliant man, she knew, and this simple show of affection might just be a part of his plan to trick her.

Before any more dark thoughts could disturb her, Ben covered her lips with his own strong ones, and she melted into his kiss. Her hand caressed his stubbled chin. When she gently pulled back she searched his blue eyes for some trace of insincerity, but there was none.

“Please, don’t do anything to hurt me,” she whispered.

For a brief moment he looked stung, but then simply gathered her into his arms and hugged her tightly to him and murmured against her hair, “I think it’s time to go now, Josselyn.”
A Change of Address (Kindle Locations 799-810). Gypsy Angel Books. Kindle Edition.

I really enjoyed the way the story plays out. An unusual romance, fraught with pain, anger and finally peace.

When she arrived at the foot of the stairs, the front door rattled. Fear, cold and stark, rose up in her throat and choked her as she heard the lock snap and watched, rooted to the floor, the creaky old door jiggle in its frame. The anticipation mingled with fright, produced a potent, sick feeling churning inside her like the bad horror movie she’d recently viewed on late-night cable television.

After what seemed an eternity, the door flung open. The first thought entering her brain was a ghost had entered her home. A younger, blonder visage of Morgan stood in the threshold. Before she could utter his name, a second, more coherent thought followed; a ghost wouldn’t use a key.

The man in the doorway took one step inside and stopped abruptly, clenched his jaw, and stared. The familiar stranger invading her new home could only be one person.

“My goodness, you’re Ben! You’re Morgan’s son!” she exclaimed.

“Well, we know who I am. Now who the hell are you, and why are you trespassing in my house?”

“Your house?” she asked with disbelief. “This is my home.

Doctor returns to hometown when mother takes a fall and falls harder for new town Sheriff…her first love.

Review Spring Blog - Copy

When her mother has an accident, Dr Melanie Fox returns to her hometown. Her first meeting with the Sheriff starts off pretty harsh on both sides. She is about to receive several tickets when the Sheriff is distracted by his ex pulling up. That brief encounter sets Melanie off on a quest to find the reasons for the child’s illness.

Brock is puzzled by the fact that no one seems to be able to figure out why his son Brady is so sick. The medical bills are killing him. His son’s mother just keeps taking him to doctor after doctor and there is seemly no end in sight.

This is a look at when Brock decides he’s had enough.
Brock ground his teeth as the stupid vision that had haunted him all fucking night reappeared. He couldn’t ignore it anymore. That’s exactly where he was going right now— to Merry Fox’s house to ask Melanie to help him.

“Better yet, let’s get you dressed, Brady— I’m taking you to see a doctor.”

“What doctor?” Lucy asked, her eyes narrowed.

“Melanie Fox,” he replied, tossing the clothes to Brady. “Put those on.”

“Hooty?” she asked, shaking her head. “She’s in California, isn’t she?”

“She’s back in town to take care of her mother and aunt. That woman I stopped at the diner yesterday was Melanie Fox.” Brock scanned the floor and found Brady’s tennis shoes at the end of the bed, then helped him sit on the bed and put them on.

“That was Hooty?” she asked, her voice shocked. “Good gawd, she must’ve had an entire body lift done in California. She needed one.” The nasty snigger that punctuated her words raked over every nerve in his body.

“Yeah, she looks damned good, doesn’t she?” Brock asked, and enjoyed seeing the smile wilt from Lucy’s face. “She’s also a doctor now, so I guarantee she’s smart enough to figure out what’s wrong with him, or find me a doctor who can.”

Lucy’s indignant gasp was music to his ears as he tied Brady’s shoes. When he finished, he looked at Lucy and she wore a worried, sour expression, which he knew wasn’t because Brady was sick and that pissed him off. She’d become more and more blasé about their son’s illness over the last year. That expression was solely because she now saw Melanie as competition.
Cowboy Justice 12-Pack (Kindle Locations 4040-4053). . Kindle Edition.

I really felt sorry for Melanie, her mother and her Aunt were truly out of control. Worse though is Lucy, Brady’s mother and Brock’s ex-girlfriend. I loved the father/son relationship and how nicely Melanie fit in. A nice example that the past doesn’t have to rule the future.

A gripping story that brings to light a disease that is not common. It also brings home the fact that sometimes too much of a good thing can be bad.

Melissa is a sweet but tough bookstore owner. The property she inherited from her Aunt abuts Los Lobos territory. Drew sent Jace to investigate the new owner of this property and what he finds is his mate. Finding the scent of hunters on her property he knows he has to step up his game.

I think this is one of my all time favorites in this series. I was laughing so hard at the beginning I must share part of it with you.

Michelle blinked away her confusion and nodded toward the book under his hand. “Find something you like?”

More than you could ever know. He moved his hand and she picked up the book. “Yeah, I’ve been waiting on that one for a while,” he lied. “Can’t get enough of that author.”

Jace couldn’t give a rat’s ass about the book. It was just an excuse to linger in her store. Slow, his pack kept telling him, go slow with her. Well, he had, damn it. Since his shy little mate appeared skittish, he’d come in, browsed the shelves of her store twice a week, making friendly conversation, forming an easy friendship, and biding his time until he had her in his bed and life permanently. But, the time for waiting was over.

Recently, he’d caught another scent when he ran on her property.

The bastards had been sniffing around his pack’s borders and camping on Michelle’s land. No doubt without her knowledge. That gave Jace all the more reason to speed up their odd courtship. Her protection was at stake, and he’d be damned if he left his mate in danger. She was his future.

Michelle’s head popped up, humor sparkling in her pretty eyes. She held up his purchase. “I love the abs on this one.”

He gawked at the semi-naked male torso covering the matte-finished paperback he’d snatched from the shelves without looking.

What. The. Fuck.

Michelle bit the inside of her cheek to keep from laughing out loud at the shock written on Jace’s face, though it came as no surprise to her. The hot specimen of male virility that she’d lusted over since he’d sauntered through the double doors of her bookstore was gay.

She winked in an attempt to ease his visible distress. “It’s really a great read. Good choice.”

“It’s not for me,” he choked out.

Bless his little baby heart. “Sure.” She moved to the register and rang up the romance novel.
Claiming His Mate (Black Hills Wolves Book 5) (Kindle Locations 48-65). Decadent Publishing. Kindle Edition.

A greedy land developer and hunters step up the game in this one. A unique view of the mating dance to be sure. A definite must read!

A Hellfire Story

Hard-nosed sheriff’s deputy, Nash Grayson, places his family and hometown in danger when he rescues, Phoebe Sinclair, Dallas debutante and desperate runaway bride with a secret hiding in the trunk of her stolen car

Review Spring Blog - Copy

Phoebe was having a really bad day. Left just before the alter, she runs away taking the honeymoon rental. A flat tire leads to a startling discovery in the trunk. Panicked she tries to drive on the flat and ends up crashing into a fence and getting stuck there.

I was kind of surprised that our deputy Nash didn’t look in the trunk anyway, but then I guess we wouldn’t  have our story.  He really goes above and beyond for this runaway bride with no money, no clothes (other than her wedding dress) and no shoes. With his help she did manage to get more than just clothes. She was offered a place to stay in exchange for some housework from Lola who runs the expensive shoe store in town. This is a favorite scene when Nash brings Phoebe to her new home.

“I love your house,” Phoebe said.

“I kind of like it too.” Lola smiled. “Come on. You might not like the apartment as much. I haven’t been in it since Christmas. I’m not sure how big a mess it is.”

“I can handle it,” Phoebe said, determined to make it work. With no other option presenting itself and no money to live on, she had to take what she could get.

“If you want to work for me as a housekeeper, I could use help once a week. The shop keeps me pretty busy.”

Nash cleared his throat. “If you are comfortable with Miss Lola, I’m off duty and need to check in at the station.”

Phoebe drew her bottom lip between her teeth and stared up into his eyes. “Thank you so much for all you’ve done. I hope I can repay your kindness some day.”

He tipped his cowboy hat, suddenly reluctant to leave her, but he didn’t have a reason to stay. “Not necessary. It’s part of my job.” Nodding to Lola, he gave her a brief smile. “Let me know if you two need anything. You know how to get a hold of me.”

With that, he turned and hurried away. Yes, he wanted to stay and make sure Phoebe was settled into the garage apartment, but she wasn’t his responsibility and the more he was around her, the more he wanted to stay with her. Not good. Not good at all.

He wasn’t in the market for a girlfriend and though she said she wasn’t going back to where she came from, there wasn’t much in Hellfire to keep her here. He was better off walking away.

Almost to the SUV, he reached for the door handle when footsteps crunched on the gravel and a soft voice stopped him.

“Deputy Grayson?” He turned to stare down into those soft green eyes, his pulse ratcheting up. “Yes, Miss Smith?”

“Thank you.” She touched his arm. “And no matter what happens, I promise I’m not a bad person.” She flung her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. Then she turned and ran back to where Lola stood, a grin stretching the older woman’s dark lipstick-covered mouth.

Warmth rushed through Nash and tingling spread from where Phoebe’s lips had touched his cheek. He raised a hand to the spot and stared at the woman, a frown pulling his brows downward. He hadn’t begun the day with the intent of finding a runaway bride stranded on the side of the road. Scenarios like that were only found in those unrealistic romance novels women liked reading. No. He hadn’t asked for a kiss. But now that she’d done it, she couldn’t undo it, and he couldn’t unfeel it. Nash gave a curt nod, turned and fought to keep from leaping into his SUV, though he knew running away wouldn’t get him away from the haunting look of the pretty redhead with the eyes the color of the soft green moss. In the few short hours he’d known Phoebe Smith, she’d crawled beneath his defenses.

Cowboy Justice 12-Pack (Kindle Locations 2091-2114). Kindle Edition.

Lots of suspense in this one. It takes both Phoebe and Nash a while to realize what’s happening between them.  Not all is as it may appear, I really loved this one!
