A woman does what’s necessary to get her man…

When Drayce Freeman rocked Kinsey Jamison’s world one passionate night and then turned tail and ran the morning after, she did the only thing a self-respecting woman would. Chase him down and prove they had the zing. Fortunately her BFF, a jaguar shifter, gave her the 411 on wolves—or most of it, that is. She’s ready to do whatever it takes to get her man—even if it means taking on the whole pack.

The last thing Drayce needs right now is the sexy human his inner wolf wants to claim showing up in Los Lobos. The headstrong, goofy female refuses to take no for an answer. Living on the fringes of a rebuilding pack is hard enough, but now he has the widow of his pack mate and a rugrat to deal with. Adding a human to the mix would be a mistake. Duty sucks.

Wow, this story is one I didn’t see coming. Okay, so maybe I did, because I read the blurb but still.Kinsey is very outspoken, and her sparring with Ryker I found hysterical. Especially when she decides to meditate on the roof of Gee’s.

Drayce had no idea she would follow him. He only knows he left without mating her, because it was the best thing to do, the only thing to do.

Now with Kinsey here and him being told to handle it, well a lot of shit is about to hit the fan. Kinsey doesn’t like to take no for an answer. Although Drayce does stay the night with her upstairs at Gee’s no one expected what happens next. This is one of my favorite scenes.

She took the stairs two at a time, her fists pumping as she charged into the bar. He’d never seen anything sexier. Ryker raised his eyebrows when she proceeded forward until scant inches separated her and the Jago Enforcer. Jadrien stood there, unaffected by the clear violation of personal space Drayce knew Jaguars demanded. The fact he didn’t react shocked Drayce.

Jadrien leaned in. “You have a lot of explaining to do.”

“Excuse me? I think you’ve been dipping too far into the catnip, bucko.” Her voice boomed. Gee chuckled behind the bar. “Care to expand on your statement?”

He prowled a step forward, and Drayce took a protective step toward Kinsey, a feral growl rumbling from his throat. Jadrien smirked. “You have interesting tastes in bed mates.”

“Who I take to my bed is not, nor has it ever been, any of your business. Now, back to your comment about my having a lot of explaining to do. It seems you are the one who has a hell of a lot of apologizing to do. How dare you come here and charge into my hotel room and hold a knife to Drayce’s throat.”

So much for keeping the event under wraps. Ryker stood to attention and looked over at Drew. Shit, Drayce hadn’t seen him enter the fray. Not good.

“You run off, the impulsive minx you’ve always been, with barely a word to anyone, and you don’t think I’m going to be sent after you? Lauren’s been climbing the curtains, wondering where the shit you are because apparently you’ve forgotten how to use a cell phone.” Backing up a step, he lowered his voice. “You may never accept this, but as far as we are concerned, you are Jago and under our protection and rules. You had no right to traipse across country without speaking to Daniel first. Or at least me.”

She harrumphed under the heated accusation. “The only person I have to seek permission from before bedding Drayce is Drayce. So, let’s get to the real basis of this charge across the country to drag my ass back. You and Lauren’s dad aren’t happy about my refusal to consider any of your men’s pursuits.”

Tension flanked possessiveness. Drayce settled his hand on her waist. He might not have any business pursuing her, but he’d be damned if he stood back and let someone else scoop her up. Everything about his existence was pretty fucking shitty right now.

Except for her.

“I’m not airing pack laundry here, Kinsey.”

“Really? Funny. Seems like you’d already started it before I was even awake.” She crossed her arms and looked over her shoulder at Drayce. “He does crazy so good I’m thinking he’d be a perfect fit for Tricia.”

Drew chuckled along with Drayce. Jadrien grumbled incoherently and flexed his fists. “Let me guess. She’s protected as pack but not punishable as pack.” Drew smirked as he regarded Kinsey with obvious curiosity.

“Pretty much,” Jadrien offered. “I assume I’m not allowed to speak with her alone.”

“No,” Drayce snarled.

“Handle this without me,” Drew stated. He headed toward the door, but paused. “Oh, and Jadrien? If you ever enter Tao pack lands without permission again, we’ll have issues.”

The Enforcer nodded his acquiescence.

“She leaves town today,” Ryker stated.
A Wolf’s Promise (Black Hills Wolves Book 10) (Kindle Locations 424-452). Decadent Publishing. Kindle Edition.

That’s just the beginning as Drayce’s promise comes to light. Kinsey is a stubborn one and is not above fighting for what she wants. Her man, her mate.

I truly loved this story, a stubborn wolf, an even more stubborn mate, widows and children and promises meant to be kept. All topped off by the heat of mating.
