I’ll start with WOW! I totally loved this book. There is nothing like 5 incredibly brave, strong women to put men in there place. In this case in more ways than one.

Katlyn is Lady Hawk, the commander of the Ladies of the Black Swan. A secret military test group, trained as special ops. Their goal is simple in theory, complicated in fact, challenging in all. Challenges her team are more than qualified to meet and do EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. As a result they have a large price on their heads, more even than the Navy Seals do.

I think Alex doomed himself right at the beginning of the book when he and one of his managers were discussing the  female who passed Ranger School. Then seeing Katlyn in the company apartment only confirms the fact that these two want each other. No matter what might happen. Even as they stop fighting it, there is her job and his. He isn’t going to like hers at all. Here is a favorite scene while they celebrate Lei Lu’s birthday.

Alex pressed his whole body against her and took her mouth with commitment. It was too much. She hadn’t been kissed like that in… years. She slowly pulled back and gentled the kiss.

When they came up for air, he hugged her tightly as they both caught their breath. He ran his hand up and down her back.

“Christ, I’ve missed you,” he said into her ear and squeezed her even tighter.

Tori and Nita walked into their VIP seating area and grabbed their drinks. Nita swatted Katlin’s outstretched legs and said, “Get a room, bitch, or share.” Katlin untangled herself from Alex and gave him a passing kiss as she sat upright on the couch. Nita fell into the space beside her. Tori threw her endless legs onto the third couch and stretched as everyone ignored Grace, who was having a private conversation with   Griffin.

“Where’s our birthday girl?” Tori asked, looking around. “I thought she was with you,” Katlin said.

Manuel, standing at the railing to watch the dancing mob, announced, “She’s on the floor with both the pro dancers. She’s having a good time. She’s on her third shot, though.”

“She’s an adult, and besides, it’s her birthday.” Nita shrugged as she licked the last drop of her pink drink. “She can deal with it.”

“She’ll just sleep in tomorrow, and we’ll be expected to drag her sorry ass out of bed sometime after noon,” Tori reasoned.

“I’ll whip up my hangover cure, and she’ll be fine within a few hours,” Nita offered.

Katlin finished her double, a needed alcoholic reinforcement. She looked at Alex and said, “Let’s go dance.” She took his hand and pulled him off the couch toward the floor of bouncing bodies. As they found space amidst the dancers, a Latin pop song started.

Katlin draped her hands loosely on Alex’s shoulders as her whole body moved to the music. He placed his hands to her hips, and they moved together as though they had been professional Salsa dancing partners for years.
