Thirteen years ago Rebecca Ferguson died, at least to everyone in the Black Hills territory. With a human mother and unable to shift into a wolf, Magnum Tao, the deranged alpha of the Tao Pack would’ve had both her and her father killed for deceiving him. Magnum didn’t allow humans to mate with members of his pack.

Now Magnum is the one who’s dead, and Rebecca can return.
But coming back from the dead, building a new life after her divorce, and opening a library in town aren’t the only obstacles Rebecca faces. Elijah, her father, doesn’t approve of her being in Los Lobos to the point where he forbids her to get involved with the pack, especially the males.

Their relationship has suffered because of her absence and she hopes to bridge the divide, confident that she doesn’t want a romantic entanglement with anyone human or wolf, anyway.

In walks sexy private detective Blaine Walker.
Thirteen years ago Blaine stumbled on his mate at the local swimming hole. The next day, she was dead. Once he learns Rebecca is alive and living in Los Lobos, he decides it’s time to give up his career in Brooklyn and return to the Black Hills. But he knows it won’t be easy to claim her since Elijah’s unnaturally overprotective. The only way Elijah will back off is to challenge him.

A challenge that will end in one of their deaths.
The Tao Pack’s rebuilding itself and needs to guard against any threats outside or in. For Blaine to have any chance to claim Rebecca, Elijah needs to be dealt with and to deal with Elijah, Drew, the alpha of the Tao Pack, has to sanction the challenge according to pack law.

Rebecca can’t deny the old attraction she felt for Blaine is still there and even stronger now that they are grown up. She’s caught between the man fate has brought back to her and her father, whose affection she’s craved her whole life.

But there’s a secret governing Elijah’s erratic behavior that can cost Rebecca everything she’s worked hard to build and everything she thought she could never have with a man or wolf.

Will Rebecca and Blaine beat the odds stacked against them?
Or will the choices they make ultimately lead them down a path both of them don’t want?

Yes I know, I am still catching up on this series, but they keep releasing more and I can’t resist. This is Inge Saunders’ first Black Hills Wolves and it is my pleasure to review this ARC.

As with many daughters, Rebecca was sent away from the Tao pack under Magnum’s rule and most believed her to be dead. Though her father sent her for a different reason, she is a latent wolf and he spread the rumor of her death.

Before she left she had an encounter with another wolf, Blaine. She knew even then there was something different about him, but he too left the Tao pack to save his own life. He was too dominant and so a threat to Magnum.

With Magnum dead and Drew rebuilding, Rebecca has returned to the Black Hills and is contributing by converting a building into a library.

Blaine has discovered that Rebecca is alive and back in the Black Hills. Now he has also returned but needs a promise from Drew in return for his blood oath to the Alpha.

This is a favorite scene.

Blaine realized his mistake. He hadn’t broken eye contact with the alpha. He lowered his head, and the acerbic atmosphere warmed a fraction.

“Why do you want to come back?” Drew’s tone held a bite.

No pleasantries. He should’ve been submissive. Instead, he lifted his head. Neither Drew nor Ryker flinched as he gazed at them. I need to be honest if I’m going to get anywhere with these two.

Ryker seemed one step away from grabbing him by the shirt collar and throwing him out for his insolence.

“I’m here because the Black Hills is home.”

Drew’s eyes narrowed. He had noted his phrasing. “I’m the alpha here, Blaine. You’ll have to swear a blood oath to me.”

A blood oath would prevent Blaine from killing Drew. “Has everyone sworn such a pledge to you?”

“Only those who place the pack above their ambitions.” Drew showed a flash of teeth. Steel reflected there.

His gaze shifted to Ryker who took a step toward him. He couldn’t take on an alpha and an enforcer. Maybe one at a time, but not together.

He understood why Drew wanted the commitment from him. The pack was healthy again. If a wolf came along to upset the order the alpha had built, who knew what could happen. Blaine’s family had left because Magnum’s insanity had infiltrated all aspects of pack life. Drew worked on restoring the pack again.

If Drew wanted him to swear an oath, then Blaine needed him to do something in return. “I’ll pledge my loyalty to you through a blood oath, if you’ll support my choice of mate.”

Drew’s eyebrows went up. Ryker, true to form, didn’t blink an eye.

“Why would you need my support?”

“It’s Rebecca Ferguson.”

Ryker straightened, taking on a solid stance next to Drew. The discussion wasn’t a threat to the alpha in any way.

“Her father won’t allow it.”

“I know.”

“He’s alpha of his household.”

“I know.”

“Are you going to challenge him?”

“If I have to.”

“And you want me to sanction it.”

“Yes.”

Drew sank into his chair. “What does Rebecca have to say? The last time I spoke to her, she didn’t mention you.”

Blaine smiled. He hadn’t earned himself any favors. “She doesn’t know yet.”

“You expect me to support your claim without her being aware of it?”

“You expect me to swear a blood oath to you without assurance whether or not you’ll turn into your father.”

The menacing growl from Ryker vibrated through the room.

“You’re playing a dangerous game, Blaine.”

“All of us have done it for our mates.” He stared from one to the other.

News traveled through the wolf-grapevine. Drew’d had to gain his mate, Betty’s, trust when he returned to Los Lobos after she believed the lies his father told about him. Ryker had overstepped their laws by mating a human, something the old alpha would’ve killed him for. But Drew didn’t seem to have a problem with humans becoming part of the Tao pack.

“Elijah isn’t going to hand over Rebecca to you. He went to extreme measures to keep her safe.” Drew sat forward again. “Even with the new order, he’s still protective of her.”

Blaine didn’t budge. He knew what he wanted. And he rarely lost.

“I will sanction the challenge if Elijah concedes to it.” Drew shook his head. “And I have a feeling he will.”

“I’ll take the blood oath.”

“As simple as that.” Blaine nodded.

“You’ll obey the law of the land and the pack. Be committed to rebuilding the town. To protect. To serve.”

“I understand.”
Inge Saunders. The Wolf’s Choice (Kindle Locations 280-321). Decadent Publishing.

Elijah doesn’t want his daughter to be part of the pack, he doesn’t want her to mate with Blaine. His fear has to do with his experience and his reasons will surprise you.

A feisty tale, with fun, sadness, a challenge and plenty of sexy scenes.

My Review of Fire and Midnight by Sandra Renee Appet

Fire and Midnight

Sandra Renee Appet

1cf2a-addtogoodreads

He could be her best worst decision…

With a glass of wine in hand, Jane Keegan’s finger is poised to delete the account her pushy BFF created for her on “The Cowboys” escort service website. Sure, she’s lonely, but not desperate. Then an image of sky-blue eyes and warm, tanned muscles jumps off the screen. And she finds herself hitting the “Book Now” button.

After all, why not? She’s a free, divorced woman on business in San Antonio. There’s nothing to lose…except her nerve. Especially when Mr. Tall Dark And Incredibly Sexy meets her at a River Walk bar—and his only-for-you smile turns her insides into a quivering mass of second thoughts.

Ryan Zeigler is enduring one last escort assignment as a favor before hanging up his Cowboys hat to run his own restaurant. Yet there’s something about the pretty New Yorker’s vulnerable grin and I’ve-got-baggage eyes that halts his usual dating M.O. in its tracks.

When Ryan sweetens the deal—no strings, no payment expected—Jane the good girl takes the bold step of letting her vixen out to play. But when it’s time to go home, her heart is at a crossroads. Is Ryan the real deal? Or is she letting yet another man take her heart for a ride?

KindleLogo Barnes and Noble logo_150 KoboLogo smashwords_logo

Jane’s divorce is final and her best friend Charlotte registers her for an escort service. Her thought, you’re going to be out of town on business, live a little and get back in the saddle.

Jane has real doubts about this but changes her mind and sets up a date with the only ‘cowboy’ that caught her eye.

Ryan is done with the escort service, he made the money to open and sustain his restaurant. He wants nothing to do with that service any longer. Then Camilla his ex-lover/boss calls for one last job. He wasn’t going to do it, but when he opened her profile something drew him to her.

This is a favorite scene when they meet before their date.

She shook her head. “I’m sure you can tell that I’ve never done anything like this before.” She took a sip of her wine, then another, seemingly relying on it to pump her with courage. She pointed at the glass. “I shouldn’t be drinking this. Wine is the reason I’m here. I believe I drank a whole bottle before confirming the weekend date with the service. This whole thing is just not me. I’m not sure how women do this.”

Ryan tilted his head. “Wine makes a great scapegoat. I’m curious. What do you think this is?” he asked, genuinely interested in her answer.

She shifted in her seat. “Well, for starters, women pay you to treat them like they’re beautiful and desirable. I suppose I understand the appeal of it, but I’m too much of a realist. In the back of my mind, I don’t think I could get past the fact that it’s just pretend. The fantasy would be lost on me.”

“I think that’s where you have it wrong. Yes, women are paying for companionship, but the arrangement is very real. I couldn’t be with a client I didn’t find attractive. That’s why the client and escort meet before the session ever begins, like we’re doing now, to make sure it’s a good match for both parties.”

“So why do women choose to hire an escort?”

Ryan took a sip of his drink before answering. “Lots of reasons. Some do it just for the good time. It’s a chance to have a little fun, with no strings attached. Some use it as a stress reliever. They just want to blow off some steam. Others are coming off a bad relationship and need a session with an escort to get back in the saddle, so to speak.” He’d experienced them all.

Jane narrowed her eyes. “I think my friend Charlotte used that same expression.”

“Is it safe to say you’re in the last category, then?”

She nodded. “I’ve been separated for almost a year, but my divorce became final recently. Charlotte thought this would help me jump back into dating. I’m just not sure this is the right way to do it.” Jane’s gaze moved to her drink. “I’m a real downer, aren’t I?”

“Not at all. Your life is in a state of upheaval. What you’re feeling is completely normal. Maybe you’re not saddle-ready yet,” Ryan said, sensing she was about to give him the boot. It had only happened a couple of times in his career.

She smiled. “Actually, I think I am, but not like this. I’m sorry. I’m sure you’re a hot commodity and women throw themselves at you, but like I said—”

“It’s not for you,” he said with a smile.

“Exactly.” She tilted her head. “I deserve to be with someone who wants to be with me, not who’s getting paid to be with me. I’m going to hold out for that person.” Jane pulled the strap of her purse, which hung on the back of the chair, and fumbled with the clasp. “It was nice meeting you.”

“Have you eaten yet?” Ryan asked, even though he was sure she’d drunk the glass of wine on an empty stomach by the way she wobbled on the heels of her sandal as she stepped from the stool.

“Um, no. I just got into town a few hours ago. I’ll just grab something.”

“Have you ventured down to the River Walk yet?”

“Out there?” She pointed to the bank of windows. “My room overlooks that area. It seems a little crazy.”

“It can be, but it also boasts the best places to eat in town. Care to join me for dinner?”

“You do understand that I just canceled the date, right?”

“Officially, yes. That doesn’t stop me from asking a hungry out-of-towner to dinner and because I want to, not because I’m being paid,” he said, purposely using her words. He enjoyed watching her shift from foot to foot considering his invitation.

“You don’t have anything better to do on a Friday night than hang out with a stranger?”

“Frankly, I can’t think of anything else I’d rather do.” Ryan hooked the strap of her purse under his thumb, slid it over her shoulder and tossed a few bills on the bar.

“Shall we?” Ryan offered her the crook of his elbow.

After a moment of hesitation, she accepted, sliding her small palm around his arm.
Sandra Renee Appet. Fire and Midnight (Kindle Locations 2569-2575). Kindle Edition.

These two hit it off over the course of the weekend. Jane’s business meetings go well and she considers staying longer.

Now no relationship starts off completely smooth, but outsiders should stay out of it. Family interference is the worst. Ryan’s sister and Jane’s ex-husband seem to think they should get over themselves and do their best to undermine all of it.

Some very tense moments, a lot of getting to know you, steamy sex, interesting twists and challenges plus lots of fun facts about San Antonio.

An entertaining, fun and sexy read.

For Franklin Weller and his wife Mia, one weekend at an exclusive private resort would either be the alone time needed to fix their marriage or ruin it.

The weekend getaway becomes complicated when a sexy bartender named Diego enters the scenario and triggers a sideways fantasy. Soon Franklin finds that he is not the only one Watching Mia.

Franklin & Mia’s life will forever be changed after a weekend at Indulgences

KindleLogo

Franklin and Mia have been married for eight years. The way they met and his certainty they were destined to be together has brought them this far. He has kept all his promises to her, all of her dreams he has made come true, except one. Mia wants a baby and they haven’t been able to conceive.

Mia is angry, she wants a child, she has been tested and it’s not her so it must be Franklin. Yet he refuses to be tested to see what they can do. Her anger has put a wedge between them and they fight and are not intimate anymore.

After a rather idiotic argument in public, Franklin receives an invitation to Indulgences, an exclusive resort that specializes in fantasies. Figuring it was their last chance he makes the plans and gives Mia an ultimatum. They fix it or divorce.

They even argued on the island, this scene is one that surprised me a bit. Mainly because I feel he should have done this months ago.

“Franklin, I am at a loss right now. I wanted to be a mother and here I am, forty years old and it is not happening. I have been tested, but you won’t go. You have to understand how I may resent that from you,” she told him.

“Yes, I can see that. However, what you cannot see is that you are under a great deal of stress, pressure, and constraints from your job. Your body knows this. I don’t know why you won’t relax a bit to give your body the cues that it is ready to bring a life into the world. If you were to conceive at this point, you are so full of stress, that the child would be fighting for resources to survive and be healthy,” he told her.

Mia stopped in her tracks. She snatched her hand away from his, folding her arms across her chest in defense. How dare he?

“This, Mia, is why we never have this conversation. Your defensive mechanisms to point fingers and place blame is so strong, that you never look at yourself. You have made my life tense for the last six months by blaming me for your inability to conceive,” he told her. He didn’t want to talk about the egg shells he’d tip-toed across for the past two years.

“How do you know my inability to conceive isn’t your stunted tadpoles?” she asked.

From his pocket he pulled a yellow sheet of paper with loads of numbers. It was signed by his physician as she looked upon the paper. Her mouth opened in disbelief.

“I was tested three months ago. My sperm count is fine, I am healthy and more than capable of giving you a child,” he told her.

Mia had nothing to say. Her toes dug into the sand as a shiver ran down her spine with a new reality. It wasn’t his fault. Franklin was not the reason she wasn’t conceiving. Maybe I am not meant to be a mom.

“Maybe you are meant to be a mother, but you have to slow down first,” he said to her, as if he’d read her mind. “Having a baby is not like getting a new car, Mia. It doesn’t go away. It is there for at least 25 years, wanting, needing, and sucking up resources. It will take both of us to raise it to be a healthy, well-balanced, and productive person. Not just you.”
Gaines, Olivia. Watching Mia: A March Indulgence (An Indulgences Novella Book 4) (Kindle Locations 757-774). Davonshire House Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Now normally things don’t bother me. However, this one struck me as bit weird. I can understand the fantasy of watching your spouse with another man and even her desire to be with another man. BUT, if you are trying to conceive a child, why on earth would you allow unprotected sex in a fantasy.

I didn’t care for the way this played out even though there is a HEA.

Thomas, Clay, Keith and Quinn McQueen are men with secrets and a past that keeps them on the run. But when life explodes around Paloma, the McQueens will be all that stands between Paloma and death.

Her sweet nature and strength make them believe the universe might not be as awful as they’ve come to believe it. But is it too late for all of them? Or can love win the day?

**Content Warning: Reverse Harem, Intense**

KindleLogo Barnes and Noble logo_150 ibooks-logo-150x150KoboLogogoogle_play_logo_002_002 smashwords_logo

In Crashing Into Destiny, Diana reminisced about her friend Paloma being sent to The Sisters Of The Universe and them writing back and forth. This is Paloma’s story.

As Clay McQueen tries to get the Sister Sovereign to agree to a free robot with the capability to counterattack, to scan the skies around the premises. Paloma is behind the curtain half listening to the exchange while contemplating her own future. She has one more year and then she will be free of this hell her family exiled her to.

She is surprised when the Sister Sovereign instruct to her escort Clay from the premises. Frustrated he tries to engage Paloma in conversation. He needs to convince the Sister an early warning system of an attack would be beneficial to them. When she breaks all the rules and saves him from certain death she is instantly punished for her efforts in spite of the circumstances and her injury.

Appalled Clay tries to stop the beating and later returns with his brothers to try to convince her to leave with them. All to no avail. Then the attack comes and Paloma runs in the direction of the only people she has an acquaintance with, the McQueen brothers.

This is a favorite scene.

I must have run the entire night. Thomas had said to go north, and I did. They were strangers. They’d offered to help. Maybe they would now. I didn’t know where to tell them to send me. But anywhere had to be better than here. I was cold, wet, covered in ash and blood. There was nothing between the Sisterhood and Grayland. I reached the town in the middle of the night. No one was around to ask about the McQueens, but I didn’t need any assistance. I saw a lit cabin atop the hill. I stumbled toward it and managed to knock once before I fell over.

The door swung open, and the twins stood over me. They seemed to react all at once; Keith pulled me into his arms while Quinn touched my forehead.

“Paloma.” Quinn moved out of the way to bring me inside. “Clay and Tommy made their way to the Sisterhood to look for you, to see if they could help. I’m so happy you came here. Put her on the couch, Keith.”

“That’s what I’m doing, Quinn.” He didn’t, exactly. Keith sat on the couch with me in his arms. I wasn’t going to complain. I shook so much I might fall if he put me down. “Are you hurt? She’s shaking really badly.”

Quinn nodded once. “I’m going to get ahold of the doctor. Keep her there with you.”

“Not going anywhere.” Keith smoothed his hand over my cheek. “Does it hurt anywhere?”

“Everywhere. I’m sorry to put you out. I had nowhere to go. I didn’t know what to do.”

He shook his head gently. “This was what you should have done.”

The door swung open with a bang. Thomas and Clay strode into the room, both looking worse for the wear. Seeing me, they stopped.

“Oh thank the universe.” Clay dropped to his knees in front of me. “She’s here. Everyone is dead there. No one lived. They got everyone. And all I could think about was her. How we left her there.”
Rebecca Royce. Meeting Them (Kindle Locations 181-197). After Glows.

Lots of revelations in this one. Especially from the guys, they have a lot of secrets and their obsessions are the product of those.

Paloma herself has to face her past more than once and a surprise comes as their stories coincide.

A journey for all of them to find what they really need and want out of their lives.

A Perfect Spring Read: Catching Ava – Spring Training Book 3 by Becca Jameson

Welcome to the Spring Training Series
by Best-Selling Author Becca Jameson.
Spring Training follows the lives of several major league baseball players as they deal with the fame and reality of life and love.

Catching Ava
Spring Training Book 3
By
Becca Jameson

1cf2a-addtogoodreads

She’s determined to round the bases, and he’s just the player to show her the way.

A blind date with a sexy major league baseball player seems harmless enough. Except Ava Phillips falls hard for Xavier Monreal and then can’t get him to move off first base.

Xavier has some family issues that need resolving before he’s boyfriend material for anyone. He also has a stubborn streak that keeps Ava at arm’s length.

Time and again their agendas clash. Ava has personal goals that keep her from spending much time with Xavier. Meanwhile, Xavier needs to get his head out of his ass if he wants to earn her respect.

Major league baseball is a demanding sport not conducive to long-term relationships. Only the strongest can survive.

KindleLogo

Set in his ways and just a little bit bossy, Xavier has found a challenge in Ava. Although young she has a spark to her and just the right amount of submissiveness.

In a perfect world these two wouldn’t have any problems. However, Xavier’s father has some archaic viewpoints. Almost immediately this man decides to take matters in his own hands. This is just a taste of what he tries to do to this budding relationship.

He leaned in farther. “I don’t care how you met. I want you to leave and let my son do his job. If he gets all wrapped up in some girl, he won’t be able to concentrate on what really matters. Do you want to ruin his career? Is that it?”

“No. Of course not.” What the hell was happening here? His family had been so kind yesterday. His father seemed like he came from another planet.

“He has responsibilities. Obligations to his family. You’re in the way.”

She opened her mouth and then closed it. “I don’t think my relationship with Xavier is any of your business.” She needed to stiffen her spine. Just because he was Xavier’s father didn’t mean she should become spineless. She was a strong, independent woman. Not some baseball floozy.

He rolled his eyes. “I figured you would be resistant.” He pulled a folded paper out of his shirt pocket and held it out. “Here. Take this. Consider it compensation for your time. Make yourself gone. Don’t come back.”

She stared at what was obviously a check, blinking in shock. She did not reach for it. “Are you serious?” She lifted her gaze to his.

“Completely.” He shook the check closer to her.

“Compensation for my time? I’m not a hooker, Mr. Monreal. I’m simply dating your son.” Wasn’t she? After last night’s antics, she didn’t know what she was to Xavier, but she sure as hell wasn’t going to explain herself to this man at the door.

“Now you’re done dating my son. He doesn’t need some blanquita taking his eye off the ball.” He dropped the check on the floor in front of her and turned to leave. As he stepped outside, he grabbed the doorframe and twisted back around. “I suggest you take my advice. Deposit the check for your trouble and don’t come back.” Then he was gone.

Ava hardly had the strength to shut the door, but she didn’t want Carlos Monreal to think he’d gotten to her, so she eased it closed, locked it, and then slid to the floor.

A day and a half of stress caught up with her in an instant, and tears slid down her face. What the hell had just happened?

She heard a car start and take off. Swiping the tears off her face didn’t help. The next thing she knew, she was in a full-blown cry, sobbing loudly while letting her face sink to her knees.

The world had gone completely insane.
Becca Jameson. Catching Ava (Kindle Locations 614-632).

Xavier has a feeling that Ava is the one for him, the one he can spend forever with. When circumstances throw the ultimate curve ball, he doesn’t know if he can get past her running from him when things get a bit tough.

Ava finds herself conflicted, confused and totally in love. With so many different outside influences, most of which Xavier is in the dark about, this relationship is quite the roller coaster ride.

USA Today bestselling author, Heather Long, likes long walks in the park, science fiction, superheroes, Marines, and men who aren’t douche bags. Her books are filled with heroes and heroines tangled in romance as hot as Texas in the summertime.

From paranormal historical westerns to contemporary military romance, Heather might switch genres, but one thing is true in all of her stories–her characters drive the books.

When she’s not wrangling her menagerie of animals, she devotes her time to family and friends she considers family. She believes if you like your heroes so real you could lick the grit off their chest, and your heroines so likable, you’re sure you’ve been friends with women just like them, you’ll enjoy her worlds as much as she does.

Rebecca Royce’s Cascade Series Book 2 – Phoenix Everlasting

Phoenix Everlasting
Cascade Series Book 2
By
Rebecca Royce

1cf2a-addtogoodreads

Single-mom, Kendall Madison has a lot on her plate. Her ex-husband wants back in the picture, her three children have all developed super-natural powers, and the love of her many lives wants to have another go at their forever.

She has a team to lead and homework to manage. The shadows are growing in strength and the battle she was brought back to life to fight has begun. How is a woman supposed to manage all of that and not fall apart? Kendall needs to figure out how to cope or the entire world will fall apart. Or maybe it already has and was always meant to. If she can find the missing phoenix there will be a chance…the only problem is no one has seen it twenty years…

KindleLogo Barnes and Noble logo_150 ibooks-logo-150x150KoboLogo

A demon invades Malcolm’s date at Victoria’s party for her new born son. After ripping it out of her, Kendall ignores Malcolm and turns her attention to the problem at hand. What is the Phoenix and how do they get it back?

Kendall is obviously going to remain conflicted between her emotions and what must be. Her ex-husband wants to come back and Malcolm really wants things the way they used to be between them.

There is a lot of emotion in this book as Kendall traces her steps from the past. She has to remember it all and as she does it leads to an interesting encounter with airport security. This is just a part of that, I don’t want to spoil anything.

The ghost hissed. “Oh, you’re in trouble. I don’t want any part of this.”

No problem. I flung my hand in front of me, sending the ghost to wherever his next destination would be.

“That’s a family heirloom.” Levi called over the yellow line. “Could you put that away, please? That’s very valuable to my family. It’s obviously not a bomb.”

All eyes turned to Levi, and I groaned.

“Sir.” The TSA man pointed a finger at him. “We’re going to need you to back up.”

He held up his hands. “Come on man. I’m behind the yellow line. That’s my wife’s bag you’re messing with. I want the heirloom put back in the box. And I apologize for saying bomb. But it isn’t one.”

I rubbed at the headache forming between my eyes. Heaven help me from men trying to be helpful.

“This didn’t show in the scanner. Is the box it’s in made out of lead?”

I really didn’t know. I hadn’t examined the box to check. “My late grandmother stuffed it in a box,” I lied. “I don’t know anything about the box.”

The man held up the box. “This box is going to have to stay off the plane.”

Was lead now a prohibited item for air travel? I didn’t want to argue; I simply wanted to go. “Okay.”
Rebecca Royce. Phoenix Everlasting (Kindle Locations 863-875). After Glows.

Shadows turn up in the most unexpected places, and the group faces more and more challenges to their strength. All as they find the answers about surrounding the Phoenix.

I can’t wait for the next and final episode!

As a teenager, I would hide in my room to read my favorite romance novels when I was supposed to be doing my homework. I hope, these days, that my parents think it was worth it.

I am the mother of three adorable boys and I am fortunate to be married to my best friend. I live in Austin Texas where I am determined to eat all the barbecue in town.

I am in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and try to use all of these elements in my writing. I’ve been told I’m a little bloodthirsty so I hope that when you read my work you’ll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. I love to write series because I love to see characters develop over time and it always makes me happy to see my favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.

In my world anything is possible, anything can happen, and you should suspect that it will.

I’d love to hear from you!

Cheers!!

New From KaLyn Cooper! Rescuing Melina – Guardian Elite Book 3

Rescuing Melina
Guardian Elite Book 3
By
KaLyn Cooper

1cf2a-addtogoodreads

Her life is filled with lies and he’s one of them.

When Jacin awoke stateside, he remembered nothing about his escape from the Colombian cartel or his torture. He was sure of only one thing, his love of Melina, his handler. When she disappears, neither bruises nor the CIA will keep him from rescuing her.

Rescuing Melina brings together the Alphas from Susan Stoker’s Delta Force Heroes and the sexy men of KaLyn Cooper’s Guardian Elite series into a romantic suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page.

Get the third book in the Guardian Elite series now!

KindleLogo

This book is the perfect blend of Susan Stokers Delta Force Heroes and Kalyn Cooper’s Guardian Series.

We open with Jacin waking up in a stateside Military hospital, with Melina at his side.

If you read Kalyn’s Black Swan Series, you will remember Melina from Uncaged Love. Melina was Rafe’s handler and helped him and Harper get out of Columbia.

Now being a CIA agent undercover always has risks and Jacin has almost paid the ultimate price. Melina is at his bedside where the doctors are slowly bringing him out of a medically induced coma. Jacin believes that Rafe and her are an item and when she announces she has to return to Washington, they fight. He wanted to stay in the make believe where she was his wife, as all the doctors thought.

She meets Mary at the supermarket, a surprising encounter for us who read both series.
This scene made me cry, it is a favorite.

As the uniformed cashier slid the last item toward the new bag boy, she paused and looked directly into Melina’s eyes and lowered her voice. “Why did you do it? Pay for that other lady’s groceries?”

“I used to be her.” Melina was embarrassed when her voice cracked on the small sentence.

“Don’t look like you’re her anymore.”

“No, but I’ve never forgotten what it’s like to be hungry.” Melina signed a small plastic screen and pushed her overflowing cart into the parking lot.

“Look, I was told to bring these bags to you.” The first bagger held out the groceries to the woman whose purple streak gleamed in the midday Texan sun.

“Who told you these were mine?”

The teen used that opportunity to shove the bags into the woman’s arms. “That lady.” He pointed toward Melina as he trotted back to the store.

When the woman approached her, arms extended as though to give back the three bags of groceries, she explained, “I believe these are your groceries, not mine.”

Melina shook her head. “No. I’m positive those are yours. The boy had yet to pack them up when you grabbed your bags and left. All I did was insist he catch you.”

Nearly in tears, the woman stood a little straighter as sad brown eyes met Melina’s darker ones. “Thank you. I appreciate this.” She held out her hand. “I’m Mary Weston.”

“Melina Torres.” Staying with that name seemed as good an idea as any.

As they shook hands, Mary explained, “I had to wait for my prescriptions to be filled at the pharmacy across the street so I thought I’d pick up a few things. They’re new medicines, so I don’t know how much my insurance company is going to cover. I wanted to be sure I had enough left for the co-pay.”

Melina wanted to hug her. The young woman was proud, yet willing to accept a gift.
KaLyn Cooper. Rescuing Melina (Kindle Locations 363-378). Kindle Edition.

It’s in this parking lot that things take a turn for the worst. Hold on tight, it just gets tenser, scarier and perfect!

Rafe and Harper, Alex and Kat, the Deltas, specifically Truck all come into play. Of course Jacin won’t be left behind either, injuries and all.

A page turner that will have you laughing and crying and holding your breath.

Jessica Scott

Her entire life has been a lie. Being with Eli is the most honest thing she’s ever done.

Parker Hauser lives the perfect life and knows exactly where she’s been and where she’s going. Parker has to be perfect. Perfect grades, perfect body, perfect life.

Until she meets Eli Winter.

Eli throws her entire life into chaos when he denies her the one thing she wants from him.

One chance encounter stokes her desire for the man who refused to touch her and left her questioning everything.

When Parker tries to help his new business, the spotlight turns on Eli’s military record. And sins from the war he’s tried to forget may come back to destroy them both.

KindleLogo Barnes and Noble logo_150 ibooks-logo-150x150  google_play_logo_002_002

There are many types of abuse and in this story Jessica addresses one that we may not ever think about. Even though there is some physical abuse the primary focus here is the emotional.Parker is trapped in her world, not by chains but by guilt and a desire to what is right. Not necessarily right for her, but for her father.

When Eli hires Parker as a small business intern, he knows he will find it difficult to keep his hands off her. She is a temptation that appeals to all of his senses. She will also be the only non-military employee he has at the Pint.

An intense, yet fun read as Parker battles her emotions on several different levels. She can’t see a relationship with Eli as anything more than temporary. However, Eli has other ideas even as he discovers her secrets.

I loved the way Eli slowly gains her trust and affection. But can he find a way to capture her heart.

A journey of discovery, trust and courage.

A favorite scene from the beginning is in the excerpt below. Be sure to read it!

Parker

“What do you want?” A murmured question that feels like a demand.

The single word I need is lodged in my throat. It’s thick and heavy, filled with potential and promise.

“You,” I finally say.

“Why?” Such a complicated question. I search his face, looking for an answer, a lie, something simple to fill the space left by his question.

I lift my hand, afraid he’ll see it tremble. It takes every ounce of willpower I’ve got to slide my fingers over his forearm. I’m surprised by the raw power beneath my touch. I expected the tattoos to be physical manifestations of the violence on his flesh. His skin is hot and smooth. My hand looks pale and small against it.

“You seem…” I lift my eyes to his, never removing my hand. “You seem like a straightforward kind of guy.”

A man with rough hands and dark ink carved into his skin. A man so unlike the men I’m used to, it’s not even funny. I lift my hand to his cheek, just above the edge of his beard. I’ve never touched a man with facial hair before. He is still beneath my touch.

A moment before I’m about to press my palm to his cheek, he grips my wrist. Not hard enough to hurt, but he definitely gets my attention.

“Not here.” I swallow. My mouth is suddenly dry. “Where?”

He jerks his chin toward the dark hallway behind us. I follow him silently, wishing he was already touching me, making me feel, letting me pretend I matter, even if it’s only for a few minutes.

He leads me through the maze of small tables and patrons at various stages of intoxication. Away from the noise and the smell of fries and smoke and cologne and all the good things that bars have. We step out of the noise and into shadows and silence. He doesn’t pounce, doesn’t push me against the wall and run those rough hands over my skin.

Instead, he leans against it—a casual, arrogant male.

Waiting. I know for what. For me to make the first move.

For me to step into the space between us. For me to touch him first. I want to. But I am paralyzed. Rooted to the damp concrete beneath my feet. The cool night air might as well be chains, holding me, restraining any thought or movement.

He doesn’t move. His arms are folded over his broad, heavy chest, his T-shirt straining against his body. The silence hangs on, stretching and thick and tight.

“Scared?” he finally whispers. A dare. A terrible, wicked promise in that single word.

“Should I be?” My throat is tight and dry.

His answer is nothing I expect.

And everything I want.

He needs to clean up his reputation . . .
Can this bad boy keep the pop princess safe?
Archer Durham’s career has been defined by his badass attitude both on and off the ice, unfortunately it’s biting him in the ass. After one too many unfortunate videos of him turned up on social media, both his fans and the press have turned against him. The win shines the spotlight on the whole team and he needs to clean up his act…but what the hell does he know about being a knight in shining armor?

Winter Blog ReviewSm

As the latest winner of This Girl’s Got Talent, Hoshi is embracing her new responsibilities. The first of which is filming a holiday special in New York. What she didn’t expect was for her brother to be arrested for bank robbery. Now the press and paparazzi are pressing around her, but she knows nothing. Her father wouldn’t tell her anything.

Archer has been advised by his agent to get out of his hotel because of the expected uproar surrounding Hoshi. He has no intention of doing so, he has plans here for his day with the Cup. Approaching the hotel after his run he sees the young woman without a bodyguard and the press closing in, he steps in. Clearing the path to her car, he becomes her hero. So much for keeping a low profile.

Things really heat up for Hoshi and Archer is determined to keep her safe.

Awesome takes on a couple of my favorite movies in this fun and fabulous read. This is one of them and is a favorite scene.

The self-deprecation worked. She laughed. “Archer, I don’t know if we know each other well enough to go away together.”“That’s the point. We take advantage of the privacy to get to know each other. No press. No siblings. No hockey team.” No royal family, but he kept that one to himself. “Just you and me, kid. What do you say?”
Heather Long. Blocked (Kindle Locations 1056-1058).
Help comes in a surprising way as we learn of the secret Archer has kept throughout his career.A fun read with lots of snark for agents and the press. With lots of build up to the heat that just might melt your e-reader. A definite must read.
