A SCANDALOUS TEMPTATION

Andrew Lochlannach is famous for his conquests, on and off the battlefield. When a fellow warrior challenges him to a kissing contest, he wastes no time in planting his lips on ninety-nine lovely lasses-an impressive feat of seduction that gets him banished to the hinterlands. Still, Andrew has no regrets about his exploits-especially his embrace with the most beguiling woman he’s ever met…

AN UNDENIABLE PASSION

With flaming red hair and a temper to match, Susana is not some innocent farmgirl who gives herself over easily to a man, even one as ruggedly handsome as Andrew. The wicked Scot may have won a kiss from the headstrong beauty in a moment of mutual desire, but Susana refuses to be just another one of his conquests. Andrew must convince the fiery lass that even though he is not playing a game, losing her is not an option…

Winter Blog Review

I am loving this Highland Series, the women are strong the men are impossible and the bad guys are deliciously evil.

Andrew is Alexander’s brother and he is sent off when he’s caught kissing Lana. Hannah wants him away from her little sister. Fortunately a message of escalating trouble at Reay has Alexander sending him off to protect the lands and Hannah’s family there. That family includes her sister Susana and her daughter.

Andrew has loved and lost, he fell for a beauty named Mairi from Reay long ago while in Perth. Since then he’s not been interested, well except for kissing them. He has a bet with his friend Hamish to kiss a hundred women and Lana was number ninety-nine.

Andrew’s first meeting with Susana doesn’t go very well at all. He sees what he assumes is a farmer being relieved of a cow and figures he’d apprehend the little thief.

This is a favorite scene.

She gored him with a furious glare. “What the hell are you doing here?”

“Isn’t it obvious?”

She crossed her arms. “Not precisely.”

“Protecting Reay cattle from thieves.”

He expression soured. “Really?”

“Aye.”

“You’re not doing a very good job at it.”

“I caught you.”

She leaned in, her expression fierce. “What on earth made you think I was a cattle thief?”

“You came barreling out of the woods, alone, brandishing a weapon on an unarmed farmer–“

“He wansa unarmed. And he wasna a farmer. That man has been stealing our cattle for weeks–“

Andrew gulped and set his teeth. “It was only natural to assume you were stealing the cow.:

“How can I steal my own cow?”

Your cow?”

“Of course it’s my cow, you dolt.”

“The cow belongs to Magnus Dounreay.”

She growled at him. Growled. “I am his daughter.”

Andrew froze. Fook/ This was Hannah’s sister? But then now that she mentioned it, there was a familiarity about her. Hannah had the same frown. He was certain of it. He’d seen it often enough.

“We’ve been tracking the thief for days.” She glanced over at the spot where the farmer had been. “And look what you’ve done. After all that work finding the blighter, you let him go.”

“He left the cow,” Andrew offered.

It didn’t help.

She poked him with a sharp finger. He felt it, even through his leather breastplate. “You, sir, are a nuisance. Keep away from me.”

Keep away from her? Not a chance. In fact, all of a sudden his assignment in Reay looked all the more intriguing. Andrew tipped his head to the side and grinned at her. “I canna do that,” he said.

“And why not?”

He waved at the troop of men just joining Hamish on the crest of the hill. “Because we’ve been sent here by the Laird of Dunnet to oversee the defenses of Reay.” His grin broadened as her dismay blossomed. “In fact, I’ll be here for quite some time.”
York, Sabrina. Susana and the Scot (Untamed Highlanders Book 2) (Kindle Locations. 200-220). St. Martin’s Press. Kindle Edition.

Now cattle isn’t the only issue, and things get interesting really fast.

One thing I absolutely noticed was the similarities between Susana’s daughter, Isobel, and Andrew. The hair, the eyes, are men always so blind? Of course Susana’s father put two and two together from the start, but Andrew, well…just blind I guess. I spent lots of time giggling at all his interactions with the little imp.

Stafford, having aligned with Scrabster to harass those at Reay, is escalating. With rumors of the Duke of Caithness returning and requiring some devastating changes tensions quickly rise.

Poisoning, kidnapping, a blossoming romance, a little hellion and so much more will have you turning pages until you finish.

Winter Blog Review

From the very first meeting with Molly, Jace has been in love with her. Unfortunately she fell head over heels for his best friend Carter. Jace was the best man at their wedding and he promised Carter he would look after her if anything ever happened to him. He just didn’t expect what happened.

Carter has a traumatic brain injury, and he has been going through personality changes. Changes so drastic they caused the love to fade and fear to replace it. As a result they have been living apart and Molly has filed for divorce. When Carter strikes back physically, Jase comes to Molly’s rescue.

The fight with Jase has Carter driving off down a winding road in a blinding rainstorm. Carter loses control and goes off the cliff resulting in his death.

Carter’s team is with her through everything, the aftermath of his death brings to light things about the man no one knew. Jase however sticks the closest even though he is finding it hard to stay away.

This is a favorite scene.

Jase brushed en errant curl away from her cheek and cupped her face in his hand, the latent tension growing heavier. Her heart gave a hard thud against her ribs as his gaze dropped to her lips and the seconds stretched out between them.

She had plenty of time to stop him. She should have stopped him, but the tender, almost possessive way he held her face set off a swarm of butterflies in her belly and she’d wondered how it would feel to kiss him.

Then it was too late to stop it because his lips were on hers, and for the life of her, she couldn’t pull away.

Her fingers curled into his shoulders. A shocking wave of heat shot through her, tightening her nipples and making her insides quiver.

Dear God. She’d imagined this. Had secretly longed to know how it would feel, and now…

His lips were warm and firm on hers, his confident hold and the heat pulsing inside her too perfect to interrupt. He kissed her like he had every right to. Like he’d wanted to kiss her forever and was finally staking his claim. She melted into him. Wanting to crawl inside him so that he’d never let her go.

Jase. I’m kissing Jase and it feels…

Way too good.

So good she didn’t want to stop. So good she wanted to keep going until they were skin to skin and he was sliding into her, easing the throb he’d created in her core.

The thought was like a bucket of ice water dumped over her, immediately dousing the fire. Molly pulled away and ducked her head, shaken. But wanting more. Craving it until she ached all over.

Oh my God…

Jase wordlessly slid a thumb across her cheekbone and lowered his hand, allowing her to step back even as her body cried out in protest.

It took her a moment to find her voice, and longer still to find the courage to meet his eyes. When she did, the look on his face was so intent, so full of naked yearning it pushed the air from her lungs. He’d hinted the other night that he wanted her, but she’d never imagined his feelings ran so deep.

She struggled to find her voice. “Jase, what…?” She couldn’t finish the thought.

He shook his head, his gorgeous eyes burning with frustration and a hunger that made her heart pound. “I’ve wanted you forever, Moll. Since the first time I saw you.”

She sucked in a breath at his hoarse admission. He had? Even though she’d been married? To his best friend? Her thoughts were a chaotic jumble, shuffling back over the years since she’d known him, trying to find something she’d missed. But no, he’d never once shown his real feelings for her.

She floundered for something that would allow her to make sense of it. “But you were Carter’s best man, you—”

“Stood up there like a good soldier and watched you pledge yourself to my best friend for better or worse and in sickness and in health? Yeah. I did. And even though I was happy for you both, I hated every fucking moment of it.”

Holy… Molly was too shocked to answer. Though she understood why he never said anything, why he’d hidden it so well. Well enough that she’d never noticed it.

She put a hand to her forehead, her mind spinning. “Oh, God, this is so wrong.” They couldn’t take this any farther. It was too soon, they were friends, and she didn’t want to screw that up.
There was the baby to think of. She couldn’t lose Jase, and continuing down this path would risk everything she had with him.

Jase gave a slow, deliberate shake of his head, his eyes searching hers. “He’s gone, Moll, and he’s not coming back. You deserve to be happy again. So it’s only wrong if you don’t want me.”

The unspoken hurt in his quiet words sliced through her like a blade. Because she did want him. She wanted him so much it scared her. But he was cornering her, pushing her into a place she wasn’t prepared to go.

“I can’t risk losing you,” she whispered back, tormented. “I can’t, Jase, so don’t ask me to.”

He took her face in his hands, his gaze steady and clear, full of emotion that tore at her heart. “Hey. I know you’ve been through a lot. But I’m not going anywhere. And the only way you’d ever lose me is if you shut me out and walk away.”

Panic flared. She shook her head, gave him a pleading look. “Jase, no.” He didn’t understand what he was saying. How disastrous it would be if something went wrong.

“Moll, I know you’re scared. But I won’t hurt you. I would never hurt you, you know that.”

She’d never dreamed Carter would, either. And yet he had.

The panic sharpened. Stabbed through her like a blade. “No.” She shoved his hands away and stepped back, feeling sick. “I can’t. Please understand, it’s never going to happen. I can’t.”
Slade, Heather. Shattered Vows. Crimson Point Series Book 3. Kaylea Cross Inc.. Kindle Edition.

Molly is approached by a man who says Carter owes him 120,000 dollars. Unbelieving and thankful Jase arrives which chases the man away.

Jase and the rest of the team step up to keep Molly safe, including a home Jase has remodeled with her in mind. Jace needs to stay away though, he can’t seem to be near her and not want her. It has to be her decision to be with him.

A touching, emotional, scary and romantic story that will have you turning the pages. I now have to go back and read the rest of this series, I loved everyone I met in this one.

Winter Blog Review

Oh my, Becky McGraw has certainly started us off with a winner.

Dante is the new hire for Deep Six East, they already have a client but not the full team. So it’s Dante who gets the job. He’s pretty full of himself too, used to working alone and not with a team, he needs some attitude adjustment as well.

Prada is everything Dante is afraid of and attracted to, smart, beautiful and an Italian woman. The Italian Ambassador for Woman’s Affairs she is focused on woman’s rights in Italy, especially after a real piece of work doesn’t get jail time for his harassment and attempted rape of some co-workers. She hadn’t pressed her charges, but now she would. The man had to go down.

Unfortunately she isn’t the one who asks for protection, it’s her father. Arturo D’Angelo is a high ranking official in the Italian government looking to run for president. He also wants his daughter to wed the man he’s chosen for her, although she’s kicked him out after she finds him in bed with another woman.

The first meeting between Dante and Prada wasn’t in her office although they don’t realize it until he does make it there.

This is a favorite tantrum scene.

An hour and a cup of coffee later, he felt much warmer and calmer as he strolled down the long hallway, reading the office numbers above each door. He didn’t need to know which one was Prada D’Angelo’s, though. He heard her angry, Italian-accented voice echoing down the hallway. He stopped outside the last door to the left, which was opened a crack, to listen.

“What are you doing in my office?” Prada D’Angelo, demanded. “Who gave you permission to be in here?”

“Your assistant,” Dex replied and Dante heard his heavy sigh. “We’re the cyber-security team for Deep Six and are here to secure your office to help your bodyguard protect you.”

“Are you the bodyguards my father hired? If so, you don’t look very capable. You don’t even have a weapon, and she probably couldn’t save herself, much less me!”

Oh, his new protectee was in fine form this morning, he thought. Loaded for bear with that mouth. It took everything Dante had not to turn right back around and run out of this building and not for coffee. That duct tape might be a good first investment.

“No—we are not your bodyguards. We are support staff. Dante Girabaldi will be your bodyguard, but I guess he’s running a little late.”

Yes, he was, because he let himself be distracted by a beautiful ass.

“Well, he can run as late as he wants, because he is going to be fired as soon as he decides to show up,” she grumbled.

Dante pushed the door open wider and lost his breath when he caught his first sight of his protectee. The wildcat from the park. There was no mistaking that ass, which looked even better in a pencil skirt than spandex. When she turned a little to glare up at Dex on the ladder, he got a look at her face, and groaned. He was in deep shit, he thought, as he walked inside.

“And you are too, so don’t waste your time, or my father’s money here,” Prada said, folding her arms over her chest.

“Prada!” A shorter woman, who must be her assistant, glided into the office. “Stop being a testa dura. You know this is for the best.”

“I don’t have time for this, Guilia! You know I have things to do here. You should not have let them in here and I wouldn’t be a tough nut!” Prada shouted.

“Well, you can’t do those things if you’re dead, now, can you?” Guilia fired back, crossing her arms over her chest to stare her boss down.

“You did this, didn’t you?” Prada asked, pointing a finger at her. “You called my father!”

“Yes, I did—because I love you. We em>both love you, and you are not taking these threats seriously,” Guilia replied lifting her chin.

Prada’s eyes darted to the doorway and her mouth opened on a gasp, then pinched tight as her eyebrows crashed together. She stalked over to him to point at the door behind him.

“Get out!” she shouted, then looked back at Dex, who was making his way down the ladder. “You get out, too. All of you, get out!”

“We aren’t going anywhere, Ms. D’Angelo, but please don’t let us keep you from those important things you said you needed to get done in your office.” Dante ignored her angry glare and stepped around her.
Becky McGraw. Heart Burn: Deep Six East Book 1 ARC FILE (Kindle Locations 335-360). Becky McGraw. Kindle Edition.

There are many tantrums from Prada, some tempered by Guilia her best-friend and assistant, others full blast at Dante. She is most determined and frustrating to Dante. He is insanely attracted to her especially when he realizes where he’s seen her before.

With the introduction of the new Team, I think there might be a story with Guilia and Brad, definite connection there. It’s really great to see not only Griff, but also Gray and Mickie. I should mention that Mickie is Dante’s sister and you’ll love their part in this story.

A misogynistic jerk, a Prince who isn’t yet, a father with secrets, the mafioso, some great stuff in Rome and Milan and so much more. You will be turning the pages quickly to see what happens next in this must read beginning to Deep Six East!

After her ex-husband leaves her high and dry, former socialite Doreen Montgomery’s chance at a new life comes in the form of her grandmother, Nan’s, dilapidated old house in picturesque Kelowna … and the added job of caring for the animals Nan couldn’t take into assisted living with her: Thaddeus, the loquacious African gray parrot with a ripe vocabulary, and his buddy, Goliath, a monster-size cat with an equally monstrous attitude.

It’s the new start Doreen and her beloved basset hound, Mugs, desperately need. But, just as things start to look up for Doreen, Goliath the cat and Mugs the dog find a human finger in Nan’s overrun garden.

And not just a finger. Once the police start digging, the rest of the body turns up and turns out to be connected to an old unsolved crime.

With her grandmother as the prime suspect, Doreen soon finds herself stumbling over clues and getting on Corporal Mack Moreau’s last nerve, as she does her best to prove her beloved Nan innocent of murder.

Winter Blog Review

This book was such fun! In spite of a rather nasty divorce that leaves Doreen with no home and no money she falls nicely on her feet thanks to her Grandmother ‘Nan’. Nan is moving into an assisted living facility in her town and gives Doreen her home.

Doreen has a dog Mugs, and the house comes with two pets as well, Goliath a very large Maine Coon Cat, and Thaddeus, a Gray African Parrot. These pets are a hoot.

As Doreen starts to get settled, Mugs comes running with something in his mouth.

This is a favorite scene.

Doreen’s previous life seemed so far removed from where she’d landed now. Although this house was paid for, she still needed to find a way to make a living to pay her monthly bills and to put food on her table as well as to pay for the dog’s food. According to Nan, the water bill here was horrific, and the power companies were thieves. Doreen had not worked the whole time she had been married. Her controlling husband had deemed it “demeaning.” So Doreen had job searches and job applications and job interviews to look forward to as well.

But what did she really want to do with the rest of her life?

She sighed, shook her head. Those were tomorrow’s messes to deal with.

Today was about getting moved in and settled for the night.

Mugs walked over and sat down beside her.

He had something in his mouth, but she had no idea what. When he crunched it with a bone-breaking noise, she bounded to her feet and stared at him, aghast. “Where did you get that?”

A bit of grass stuck out one corner of his mouth.

Whatever it was had come from outside the house. But, since Mugs hadn’t been in the garden in the front yard or in the backyard yet, chances were that the cat had brought it inside. And that could mean all kinds of horrible things. Doreen had no experience with cats, but she’d heard the horror stories… “Mugs, that’s disgusting. Drop it.”

When he didn’t, Doreen’s face twisting in distaste, she leaned over for a closer look. Was it a bone? But what kind of a bone? “Mugs, give it to me. Let me look at that.”

He gave her a grunt and backed away.

Crap.

She got on her hands and knees to peer closer. A bone wouldn’t be so bad, but something appeared to be sticking out the end of it. She tried to grab it from him, only Mugs backed up again.

Slowly she followed him on all fours. “Come on, boy. You don’t want that nasty bone. Give it to me, and I’ll get you some proper dinner.” Inspired by the idea, she hopped to her feet and ran inside to his stash of goodies, found his treats, shaking the bag as she ran out the back door.

Immediately Mugs dropped the bone and raised his nose to sniff the air. When Doreen held out a chicken twist for him, he smelled it, then decided he preferred the bone at his feet.

“No! Wait, Mugs. No.” She shoved the treat into his face a second time.

He gave her an offended look but slowly took the treat, dropping the bone once more.

Instantly she snatched it out of his reach. She turned it over and screamed, tossing the small fleshy thing to the wooden floor of the veranda. Mugs raced for it, but she shooed him away. Using a piece of old cardboard found on the side of the veranda, she scooped up the bone and placed it on the little outside table. Gasping, her heart pounding, she peered closer.

The bone had skin on it— and a fingernail at the end. A nicely manicured man’s nail.

Mugs had been chomping on a human finger.
Dale Mayer. Arsenic in the Azaleas (Kindle Locations 145-169). Valley Publishing.

The hilarity ensues from this discovery on. From the initial interview with the police, to her first interaction with Corporal Mack Moreau I couldn’t help laughing at her naïveté. In spite of that she does manage to find additional clues that lead to the murderer. Much to Mack’s chagrin.

So many little twists and turns as she does her best to prove her Nan had nothing to do with the murder. The animals are so much fun as is her Nan. This book is pure enjoyment and I can’t wait to see how her relationship with Mack develops in this series.

Veterinarian Georgina Greyson will only be in Whispering Springs for three months covering for the town veterinarian while he is on a research trip. She isn’t looking for love or roots, just maybe a good time before she moves on.

When his parents leave on their dream fantasy RV trip, Tanner Marshall is left in charge of his family’s cattle ranch, as well as his two younger brothers and sister. When he isn’t ranching, he’s doing duty on the volunteer fire department, a job he loves more than ranching. At thirty-four, he’s ready to put down some roots, including marriage, children and the white picket fence.

When Georgina accidentally sets her yard on fire during a burn ban, the volunteer fire department responds and she gets quite the fire lecture from one very cute firefighter. If there’s one thing Tanner hates, it’s carelessness with fire, but there’s something about his latest firebug that he can’t get out of his mind.

Can an uptight firefighter looking to settle down convince a cute firebug to give up the road for a house and roots?

Winter Blog Review

Georgina Grayson is in Whispering Springs to take over the Veterinarian Clinic for Doc Maybee while he goes on a research trip to Australia. She’s settling into her rental house and decides to burn some trash. Bad move when there’s a burn ban and she didn’t think to check.

Tanner Marshall’s parents have taken off on an RV vacation. Leaving him in charge of his siblings, high school seniors twins Dillon and Deborah, with help from Zack who is closer to his age. While the twins make hi crazy, thoughts of the new temporary Veterinarian keep filtering in as does the way they first met.

This is a favorite scene.

The volume of water the firemen’s hose sprayed was much greater than anything she could have generated with her garden hose. Within fifteen minutes, the fire was out and the men were rolling up their hose to leave.

A pain in the patoot for sure, but no real harm done.

The tall man who’d rudely shoved her out of the way stalked toward her with long strides and heavy footsteps.

“Lady,” he said, his face red with either heat exposure or anger.

Georgie crossed her fingers for heat exposure. She was wrong.

“Are you nuts or stupid?” the man shouted. “You don’t look crazy, so I’m going with stupid. There’s a fire ban right now. That means no fires. At all. For any reason.” He jerked the helmet off his head. Dark wavy hair fell over his forehead. “Well?” he demanded. A pair of chocolate brown eyes glared at her.

“Well, what?”

“Are you crazy or stupid?”

Georgie cocked her fists on her hips and widened her stance, hoping she looked intimidating. Sometimes that worked with her patients. Not with this guy.

“I’m neither, thankyouverymuch. I just got into town. I didn’t know about the burn ban. Sorry. It wasn’t part of the orientation to my house.” She waved her hand toward the white clapperboard house, as if he wouldn’t know which house she was talking about. “Besides, no real harm done. I’m sure I could have put it out with a garden hose.”

The man was a good six inches taller than she, and he took advantage of that stature to lean over her. “You know how a big fire gets started? With a small one. Yours would have spread fast if someone hadn’t seen the smoke rising and contacted us. And ignorance of the ban is no excuse. Any person with a modicum of intelligence would have noticed the parched grass and dying trees around them. Get some glasses, lady, if you can’t see that.”

Ire rumbled in her gut. Standing on her tiptoes, she poked her finger into his chest, which was akin to poking the butcher block countertop in the kitchen. Dadgum near broke her finger. “I’m not stupid. And I’m not blind. And I’m sorry.” She dropped down off her toes. “Thank you for showing up. Am I going to get a fine?”

The corners of his mouth twitched as though he might smile, but the movement went no further. “That’ll be up to Sheriff Singer, but he’s a good guy. He might go easy on you if you explain.” His sexy chestnut  eyes squinted into a serious expression. “No matter where you live, always check with the fire department before you burn.”

She stepped back and saluted. “Yes, sir.”

That did produce a tiny smile. The man turned on his boot heel and headed back to the truck. With engines growling, all six vehicles roared back down her drive to the highway. There, they went in separate directions.

She’d never experienced a volunteer fire department response. Interesting would be one word to describe it.

And the head of the response? He’d be best described as intriguing.

These two are such a contradiction. Every time I thought Tanner would make a move, he doesn’t. That has Georgina confused and thinking maybe he really doesn’t like her at all.

Lots of fun things, the birth of a foal and finally some sizzle, topped only by a misunderstanding.

I truly enjoyed this read and I’m starting the next in this series. I may be addicted to these cowboys.

Winter Blog Review

I found this to be interesting since the beginning of a series is usually about the person who begins the company, but this is the second book and Tony is the founder and owner of Alvarez Security. It opens with Gabe’s wedding, we saw how he got together with Jennifer in the first book.

Tony has been glaring at Sherrie all day and it’s really beginning to annoy the living daylights out of her. She dressed with him in mind but all he does is scowl.

This is a favorite scene.

The bride walked over and sat in the chair vacated by Suzanne, interrupting Sherrie’s musings. “Enjoying yourself?” Jennifer asked, a conspiratorial grin on her face.

“Of course,” Sherrie replied giving her a hug. “You’re an absolutely beautiful bride.”

“Well, you’re a stunner yourself in that dress. Anyone I know you’re trying to impress?”

“Nope, no one. At least no one who cares.”

Jennifer leaned in close, “Oh, honey. He cares. He just doesn’t want to, that’s all. But Gabe’s working on it.”

Sherrie’s gaze shot back over to Tony, seeing the groom talking to his boss. Her lips in a tight line, she retorted, “But that’s the problem. If I was really worth it, no one should have to be convinced.”

Giving Jennifer a look of resignation, she turned and asked Monty if he would like to dance. Eyes alight, he stood and offered his hand. Walking out to the dance floor, she purposefully kept her gaze away from Tony and tried to concentrate on the handsome man who had his arms around her.

Tony’s glare had turned murderous, but Gabe stilled him with a hand on his arm. “Captain, you’ve got no one to blame but yourself.” Even though the men had been out of the Army for several years, his former squad members still found themselves referring to their boss as their superior officer.

Tony tried counting to ten but found that his Special Forces training had abandoned him when it came to her. She filled his dreams. She filled his thoughts. And as much as he tried to push them away, they came back. Over and over.

“Captain?” Gabe’s voice finally cut through. Gabe had been joined by Vinny and Jobe. Tony looked over at his most trusted men. And friends. Gabe continued, “You’ve had your eye on her for almost a year. She’s a great woman. Smart. Tough. Not to mention, gorgeous.”

“Think I don’t know all of that?” Tony growled.

“You don’t act like it. Instead you act like you’re trying to keep her at arm’s length all of the time.”

Tony looked over at the couple on the dance floor and then turned his anguished gaze back to the others.

“What…what do I have to offer a woman like that? I loved once. You were there. Nearly broke me. Can’t do that again, and she deserves better than a man who hasn’t got much left to give,” he admitted.

The silence at the table was deafening. They had accepted the fact that Tony never spoke of his wife and daughter after they left the cemetery that day, five years earlier. Never. For him to bring it up now, told them the depths of his feelings. And anguish.

With that, Tony stood from the table pushing hard against his seat. The scraping noise had Sherrie look over in surprise. For a moment, both held each other’s gaze. Warm caramel ones met the summer-sky blue ones. Longing and despair in both.

Tony turned suddenly and walked out of the door, leaving his friends hurting for him. And Sherrie hurting for herself.
Jordan, Maryann. Tony: Alvarez Security Series (pp. 14-15). Kindle Edition.

These two have a history, one where Sherrie’s sister Cheyenne betrayed her for drugs and Tony came to the rescue. Tony is trying very hard not to get involved, but it seems Sherrie is the one that is getting past his walls.Sherrie’s about given up, she really likes Tony and would love a chance with him but he just doesn’t seem interested, just angry.

Another crisis, a snowstorm, a cabin in the middle of nowhere, a client that leads to Human Trafficking and so much more in this page turning read.

Off to read the next book in this series.

You get what you pay for…

It’s my thirtieth birthday. It’s also Valentine’s Day. I’m not sure which one sucks most.

My best friend, Sarah, begged me to go out with her and her husband for dinner, but I’m not in the mood for celebration. I’ve worked hard all day, run for an hour, and now I plan to spend the evening alone playing video games and eating a whole tub of cookie dough ice cream.

But when I get home, I discover a man sitting on the carpet in the corridor outside my penthouse apartment.

He’s tall, gorgeous, wearing an expensive suit, and carrying the biggest bouquet of red roses I’ve ever seen.

He also has a huge red bow tied around his waist.

“I’m from Casanovas,” he says.

Hmm. That sounds vaguely familiar…

He gestures at the bow, and his smile turns mischievous. “Sarah says Happy Birthday.”

Oh. My. God.

Winter Blog Review

Sarah and Elise made their billions by hacking companies and then selling their services to make their sites secure. While Sarah is happily married with two children, Elise is single and refuses to even date. Her heart can’t take it.

When for her birthday Sarah hires an escort from Casanovas, she isn’t interested at all. That is until they have a drink, play a video game and talk.

This is a favorite scene.

I shift to face her, resting an elbow on the back and my head on my hand. She turns her head to look at me. She has dark-green eyes, and they’re filled with something—hope? Longing? A little fear, I think.

“You’re good at the game,” she says.

“So are you.” I know I would’ve had trouble beating her if she’d been fully focused.

“I like that you play.” She studies her whisky. “My ex didn’t like video games.”

It’s the first time she’s mentioned a previous partner. I give a rueful smile.

“He must have broken your heart badly to make you hole up in here.”

She looks out of the window, across the harbor. “It’s a long story.”

“You want to tell me?”

“Not really.”

I sigh. “Why are you alone? It’s your thirtieth birthday, and it’s Valentine’s Day. You should be surrounded by your friends and family tonight. You should be married, your husband hanging on your every world, waiting desperately to get you into bed tonight because you’re so fucking sexy.”

She gives me a wry look. “Now come on, we’ve got on well up until now being normal. Don’t give me the escort patter.”

“I’m not.”

“Oh, come on. I’m sitting here in yoga pants. I haven’t even blow-dried my hair. I can only imagine what your usual clients look like.”

“You’re right. You’re very different from them. You’re like one of the red roses in the bouquet I brought you. Your beauty is completely natural.”

She studies me for a long moment. “You’re paid to be here,” she says eventually. “To make me feel good. How can I believe anything you say?”

I frown. I like women. I like the way they smell; how soft their bodies are. I like that their voices are different, and I like listening to them laugh. I know I’m not bad looking and I have a good body. I enjoy their admiration, and I pride myself on being able to give them pleasure. I don’t have to fake it when I tell them they’re beautiful, even if it’s not in the traditional sense of the word. I can always find something beautiful about a woman.

When I go to a client’s apartment, it’s because they’ve rung Casanovas and asked for me. When I arrive, we both know why I’m there, and although we might sit and have a drink first and talk, it doesn’t usually take long to get down to business. Once or twice I’ve had a client who’s not hired an escort before, and they can be a little shy.

But this is the first time I’ve had to seduce one.
Woods, Serenity. Casanova. Kindle Locations (535-562). Kindle Edition.

He does finally manage to seduce her, and she gets out of him why he works as an escort.

Once he’s gone she finds herself still thinking about him, and after a call from Sarah she decides to do something more.

An interesting take on the billionaire falls for an escort scenario, one I fully enjoyed. Lots of sizzling heat, laughter, fun and more. I know I will be reading more of Serenity’s books.
