Blurb from Amazon:

“What fate would you choose?”
Just when it seems she’s finally moved on from one of the most difficult times in her life, devastation rocks Sophie Ryan’s world again.
When long buried demons from her troubled past resurface, Sophie is forced to face her darkest fears, questioning everything she once thought was real.
Will she be able to return to the path she once traveled? Will she turn back on the promises she’s made in the past? Or will she be confronted with the harsh truth that every decision, every choice, has a consequence?
When life thrusts a path in your direction, what fate will you choose?

My Review:

At the end of The Promise, Ana and Drake are on the outs as is Sophie and Chase except for a brief phone call.

This book opens with Drake telling Sophie his cousin Chase has been in an accident and “they don’t know if he is going to make it.”  Sophie flashes back to when Ana and her were notified of Jack’s death and collapses.   Drake supports her and she they both head for the hospital.

Seventeen hours later Chase wakes up.  Considering the trauma and surgery he has undergone he appears very lucid.  Sophie and Chase have a brief talk before he is taken for more testing.

In the meantime Ana and Drake get back together as well so everything seems back on track.  But let’s not get hasty here, this is the beginning of the book.

Here in the hospital when the doctor is evaluating Chase for discharge is one of my favorite scenes. Sophie comes out of the bathroom after changing her clothes while the doctor is speaking.

“Well my boy, if you’re feeling good enough for that I’d say you’re good to go home,” I hear him chuckle as my eyes meet Chase’s.

“Oh my God, Chase! You told them we had sex in here?” I blurt out loud enough for everyone in the room to hear before thinking, clamping my hand over my mouth seconds too late.”

Ana has decided to move in with Drake and Sophie makes her decision to move in with Chase although she won’t say yes to his marriage proposal.

Emily (Chase’s sister) is getting married right after Thanksgiving so before they all head to Florida the girls decide to have a night out. When Drake sees how Ana has dressed for the evening he protests until she changes. Funny how when they arrive at Chase and Sophie’s, Chase is having the same problem with Sophie.  By the time Heather arrives it is a full blown battle of wills between those two. I was chuckling the whole time.

That evening doesn’t end well.

The wedding goes off with only a slight musical issue and Chase surprises Sophie with a side trip before they head home.

A fight with Sophie’s boss, then with Drake and Ana. Total Chaos. Drake and Chase are fine but Ana and Sophie aren’t talking.  Next up is trip to Lucy’s (Ana’s cousin) for her son (Sophie’s Godson) JT’s birthday party. Where another major surprise awaits.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before but these two couples sizzle off the page, the sex is passionate and downright steamy.  I still don’t like the whole cliff hanger endings but I will deal since the story line is good.

I give 4 contented purrs for this book, but once again the editing gets a hiss.

Here are some of the editing errors that made me crazy.

“I had the CD player lying next to me on the cot the nurses had brought me in.”

“Her freshly painted toes were peeking out of strappy black hills that made her legs look a mile long.”

” I can’t help but notice when my heart skipping a beat.”

The Promise Series by Kate Benson – My Review of The Promise – Books 1

The Promise Series by Kate Benson

Just a little note here.  I started this series with the latest one The Commitment and that was a big mistake.  I am rectifying that error now.  I purchased the first three from Amazon for my Kindle and I am reviewing them here and revising my review of that latest installment in the series, based on reading order.

I will be putting these up one at a time because these books flow into one another and I don’t want to spoil one.

The Promise – Book 1 of the Promise Series

Blurb from Amazon:

Devastated by circumstances beyond her control, Sophie Ryan’s life rips her from the arms of her first love, Jack. With only memories of their lost love, she’s forced to start over in a new town; surviving on her own for the first time since he left. Trying to begin her new life, fate decides a different direction for her, causing her to make a choice she never thought she’d have to.
Unsure of commitment after his failed engagement, Chase Mitchell finds himself stuck on a path of failed conquests and late nights at the bar. That is until he finds a pair of mesmerizing green eyes sitting in his usual spot. Something about this quiet girl forces him to question everything he has ever thought about love.
As Sophie looks down at the fork that’s presented in her path, will she choose the right direction? Will she be able to move towards the arms of the man who stands in front of her? Or will she choose to keep her promise to the one life forced her to leave behind?

My Review:

Ana and Sophie have reached the decision to leave their hometown and Ana’s childhood home.  This is an attempt at moving on after Ana’s brother and Sophie’s fiancé Jack died in Afghanistan.  That doesn’t mean that saying goodbye is going to be easy. I started sniffling as Sophie visits all the special spots she and Jack had around town and downright sobbed when she reached the cemetery.   When she screams in her sleep, I continued to sob even as I read Ana waking her up.

We learn a lot about Jack through memory & dream sequences from Sophie, throughout the book.

Ana meets Drake Mitchell by bumping into him literally (not with her car) at a gas station, and Chase Mitchell (his cousin) sees the woman of his dreams singing in a pickup truck shortly after this encounter.

When Chase and Drake get off work they head to their favorite bar for a couple of beers before heading home.  Imagine Chase’s surprise when he gets to save the “woman of his dreams” (Sophie)from being hit on by a nasty drunk and Drake’s surprise to find that Ana is the new bartender.

Getting to know Sophie isn’t an easy thing to do. The walls she has erected are hard to penetrate but Chase is determined.  Drake and Ana have hit it off well and since Sophie is Ana’s roommate the possibility of meeting up frequently is definitely in the cards.

Ana and Drake get off to a very steamy start, with panty melting scenes almost from the start.  Chase on the other hand has to go slow with Sophie.

One of my favorite scenes is the morning after Chase and Sophie’s first date which ended with just a kiss.  Drake has spent the night with Ana and the three of them are in the kitchen. Ana and Sophie in robes and Drake in just a towel.

Sophie’s POV

“Knock, knock!”  I hear Chase’s booming voice traveling through the apartment.  “Sorry, the door was open so I just let ,,,” He stops dead in his racks when he sees the three of us in the kitchen, all of us silent and gripping our coffee mugs.  I turn to see his eyes on Drake’s towel.  “Why is everyone naked in your kitchen, Sophie?”

Chase and Sophie have a rough time of becoming a couple, first by her not being open about Jack and then with Lauren ( Chase’s ex )doing as much as she can to break them up.

I laughed a lot and cried a lot. Wanted to smack all the characters at least once during this read. Although it is a cliff-hanger I don’t mind so much since I already have the next three books.

Aside from some editing errors, wrong tense, the occasional letter just hanging out by itself and what may be format conversion issues, really enjoyed this read.

I give this book 5 contented purrs for content and 1 hiss for editing.

My Review:

This is Sophie and Chase’s story and it has quite of few bumps in the road.

I was a bit startled that this book starts with a bit of a mystery. Two pregnancy tests in the office bathroom, one positive, sends Chase and Drake (Chase’s cousin) on the run after Sophie and Ana (Jack’s sister).

The women are running out after getting a call to collect JT Sophie’s godson.  Lucy is JT’s mother and has passed away from overconsumption of alcohol.  This is the first point where I get confused, and I’m not sure of her relationship to the others.

Sophie is a bit volatile in her emotions.  So it was quite interesting to see the trouble and sometimes hilarity she causes by blurting her feelings out.  No filter there.

As Sophie prepares for her wedding, an interesting fact about Ana and Drake’s relationship other than the fact they are engaged is revealed.

With regard to Jack and Sophie, they were obviously together at one point and still sincerely care a lot for each other.  I found myself with many questions about them.

The lives of the characters are so intricately woven that it took a bit to figure out the who’s who. This is made a bit easier by each chapter being in the POV of a specific character but I’m not sure I have the all relationships correct.

The couples in this book have intense relationships and the sex is hotter than hot.

Since I have so many questions about the characters, in spite of my enjoyment of the book, I have purchased the first three books of this series to get a better understanding of the all the stories.

I do not recommend this book as a starting point for the series.  It really is not a standalone.

I give this book 3 contented purrs.  I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the series in order.

Sophie Ryan has not had an easy life.

In the past two years, she’s faced heartbreaking loss, gotten a rare second chance at unconditional love, revealed her darkest secrets and been forced to make unimaginable choices.

Dusting herself off time and time again, she’s always bounced back in the name of love.

After suffering yet another devastating blow, Sophie is faced with the choice of fight or flight.

With forces and emotions from her past still in play, will she find that some promises are made to be broken?

Or will she finally make the commitment it takes to find the forever she’s been searching for?

A New Adult/College Contemporary Romance

 (Distraction, #2)

Angela McPherson

Untold Press

Despite denying their love for years, in the end no distraction could keep best friends Tristan and Elle apart. Passion and heat explode as the two finally discover what they’ve been missing, needing, wanting for so long.

When Tristan and Elle return home for Christmas break, the two are gifted with a few unexpected surprises. Heather, Elle’s sister, has come home and even better, she’s now clean and sober. During this time, Tristan and his dad manage to work through their strained relationship, finding compromise and understanding. For the couple, everything is coming together—until circumstances change, threatening their newfound happiness.

Love is an addiction both craved, but when devastating secrets are revealed, Elle pushes Tristan away. He won’t let go. She can’t hold on. Is their love strong enough to keep them together? Falling in love was never an issue, but for Tristan and Elle, falling apart may be.
Addiction is a new adult/college romance short novel.

My Review

While Addiction centers on their families accepting their relationship, Elle and Tristan have so much to overcome in this book.

There is steamy, hot sex and love and laughter.  However there is also the reminder of the pain of divorce when parents don’t communicate with their children.

With Heather’s appearance we also see the pain and heartache caused by addiction.

There are also secrets and lies of omission, one of which could very well mean the end of a beautiful relationship for Tristan and Elle.

One of my favorite scenes is the morning after Tristan sneaks into Elle’s bedroom, through the window, of course. Elle’s Mom has a few words for Elle.

Even though I was an adult, Tristan escaping before my Mom caught him in here made me breathe easier.

She tilted her head. “Tell Tristan next time he leaves this house, it better be through my front door. Which is how he should’ve come in. Not the window. Understood?”

Sheer humiliation covered my face. I could only nod.

Angela hits home with so many issues in this book.  She has an amazing grasp of expressing those feelings in her books.

Five contented purrs for this book.  I cannot wait for the next installment in this series.

Tristan Quotes/Teasers
I’d like to say I love you and mean it. Only, that isn’t enough to describe what I feel for you… how much you mean to me, Elle.”

“Water’s boring.” Elle traced a finger along my jaw, her passion-filled eyes trained on my lips. “I’m not looking for boring tonight.”

The anticipation of wanting her jumped to fucking needing her as she rolled her hips into the pressure against my zipper. “What is it you’re looking for?”

Elle bent forward, lips teasing mine, and whispered, “You.”

Elle Quotes/Teasers
I didn’t think I could fall more in love with you, but you’ve proven me wrong, Tristan Wade Daniels. I love you.”

His lips curved into a wide smile. “Say it again.”

I stepped on my tiptoes and leaned in, my lips a breath away from touching his. I whispered, “I love the way my body craves more of you. I love the way your hands feel while touching me. I love the way your lips taste…”

My eyes darted to his lips, and then back to his eyes.

“I love how much you care. I don’t just love you, but everything about you. I always have, Tristan. I always will.”

“He looked up and our gazes met. He was a beautiful mess, and I loved him so much, but the pain he created… well, I didn’t think I’d recover.”

We didn’t talk much during the drive back to our hometown, but words weren’t necessary. The soft smile on Tristan’s face as he drove with his left hand while holding mine in his right screamed louder than any words ever could. He was mine.
Turning to watch the scenery pass by, I let my thoughts drift back to the start of this year. At the beginning of the semester when Tristan told me about his engagement to Kellie, the psycho, I couldn’t breathe from the disappointment crushing my chest. Topping that, he also divulged he’d transferred to Tech, making sure my life remained as miserable as possible. Even though I loved him, seeing Tristan with another woman tore me to pieces.
Before their relationship ended, thinking we’d ever find our way to one another seemed impossible. So, what did I do to get over my hot, football star, best friend? I dated someone completely opposite of Tristan… Eric Green, a handsome baseball player. Eric was super sweet, but at the end of the day he was never who I wanted.
I didn’t intentionally set out to hurt anyone. The way I strung Eric along, knowing I was in love with someone else, left me feeling like a self-centered jerk. Ironically, when Tristan was injured, our relationship started to come together for us while Eric and I fell apart.
Who’d have thought a broken collarbone and a concussion would’ve made us get our heads removed from our asses. But God, the brunt trauma Tristan suffered was bad. Just thinking about it brought tears to my eyes. I shifted in my seat, removing myself from the past, looking forward to our future.
Peeking over at Tristan’s profile, my chest tightened. The fact that he was able to pull off looking so incredibly sexy that early in the morning awed me. The gritty stubble shadowing his strong jawline and the way strands of hair framed his warm eyes quickened my pulse.
Tristan glanced my way and grinned. Lifting our hands, he brushed a feathery kiss across my skin. “What’s got you so quiet, Spud?”
My knuckles tingled where his lips touched. “Oh, you.”
His smile deepened. “Well, then carry on.”
I fought to keep my eyes open during the rest of our drive. Tristan ran his finger along my cheek, the enamored glint in his eyes made my insides jump.
“You look tired. Get some sleep.” Those perfect, full, kissable lips formed into a sexy, hell-bent grin. “You’re going to need plenty of rest.”
He tore his eyes away from me and back to the road. Sliding the back of his hand down my arm, he then laced our fingers together. “We’re leaving after dinner tomorrow. We haven’t finished making up for,” he turned back to me and winked, “lost time yet.” Tristan squeezed our hands, sending the normal thumping inside my chest into hyper-drive.
I stretched out the soreness from my arms and legs. After the early morning surprise in bed, we woke up and finished another round of lovemaking in the shower. Years of listening to Alyssa prattle on and on about her sexual escapades, I finally understood her, um, enthusiasm. Speaking of which, she was going to flip the next time I talked to her. Man, I missed our late night, or morning talks, although being with Tristan felt right. Perfect.
Tension pulled at the corners of his eyes.
I squeezed his hand. “Hey, what’s wrong?” I balled my other hand, worry settling in my shoulders.
He brought our joined hands to his lips and kissed the inside of my wrist. “Nothing you need to worry about.”
Um, I don’t think so. I attempted to free my hand from his, but his hold remained strong. I gave up. “I can take it, whatever it is. Just spit it out.” My stomached knotted, betraying the lie.
“I’m telling my parents about us.” He glanced down, and the tension cornering his eyes moments ago fell. The side of his mouth pulled up in a cocky grin. “I’m almost hoping my dad kicks me out.” He winked. “Then I’d have an excuse to stay with you.”
I frowned and pulled my bottom lip between my teeth. Shit. His dad hated me. As much as I loved Tristan, I didn’t want to be an added cause to their problems, especially since Tristan and his dad never got along in the first place.
I shook my head. “No, I don’t want to ruin this. We’re together so there’s no use in creating a potential problem between you and your family. I love you, Tristan. I’m not going anywhere. Spend time with your parents and we can tell them about us once we’re back at school.”
Tristan gazed ahead, concentrating on the road in front of us. He remained silent for quite a few minutes, making me worry my bottom lip even more. Finally, he glanced over at me.
“No, I’ve waited to tell them you were mine for years now. No way am I going to pass up the first chance I get in order to make my dad happy.”
I opened my mouth to argue, but he cut me off.
“I’m not playin’, Spud.” His eyes darkened and wrinkles crested his forehead.
Stubborn ass. “All right, fine. I’ll leave my window unlocked,” I grinned, raising a brow, “but only if you’re lucky.”
Tristan chuckled softly, resting our hands in his lap. With his attention back to the road, I closed my eyes and prayed nothing terrible would happen between him and his dad. I used to think Mrs. Daniels didn’t approve of me, but after Tristan’s stay in the hospital, her behavior had changed. She’d been nice. Maybe his dad would do the same.
My throat dried–this time from not knowing if I’d be able to see my sister, Heather, this year. Hopefully this Christmas would be different for both our families. Tristan and I were due for a little peace.
Losing the battle with my eyes, I ended up falling asleep the rest of our way home. Tristan reluctantly dropped me off at my mom’s house. Once my bags were unloaded in my room, he kissed me. His kiss lingered, making my legs weak and my heart ache when the sweet embrace ended. Intensity and heat blazed in his eyes when he backed away.
Clearing his throat, he said, “I’m having a hard time leaving you.”

Aside from the normal changes in her life, college junior Elle Richards can always count on her friendship with Tristan. The longing for him to love her back is something she keeps well hidden, even from herself. No matter how many miles apart they are, regular phone calls and texts keep them close…until the day everything changes.

Wide Receiver Tristan Daniels has a good thing going. Much to his, and every single woman’s surprise, he’s in a committed relationship. The possibility of going pro looks more than promising…until his spur of the moment transfer to a rival college is approved. Now, Tristan will be forced to be in the presence of the woman he’s secretly loved for as long as he can remember. Elle.

Being away from one another was enough to keep Tristan and Elle distracted, but angst, confusion, and troubled secrets launch them into a breathless, heart pumping story you won’t want to miss!

My Review:

Young love just isn’t what it used to be or maybe it is. How can two people live half their lives ignoring the fact they were meant to be together? Well, Tristan and Elle have this down to a science at least until Tristan transfers to the same college.

Tristan is engaged to Kellie and Elle is trying to be in a relationship with Eric, a baseball player. Needless to say seeing each other daily creates stress and problems with their current love interests.

Add into this Elle’s sister Heather, who has been in a downward spiral, is ignoring her calls and texts. Elle is still worried, in spite of her mothers assurance that Heather is fine, and they have spoken several times.

Kellie has secrets she is keeping from Tristan that could end their relationship, although she doesn’t see it that way. Eric is falling hard and fast into love with Elle. Elle doesn’t know what she really wants, but in her heart of hearts she knows it’s Tristan she loves. Tristen has always loved Elle and trying to be the loving fiancé to Kellie becomes harder and harder.

Tristen joins the Frat that his team members are a part of and coincidentally Eric is also a member. One of my favorite scenes is when Tristen asks Elle to help him with picking out a tux for his engagement party.

“Come here before you strangle yourself.”

Tristen shuffled over to me. I lifted the collar of his shirt, readjusting the tie.

“So what do you say? I don’t think I can go through with this if I don’t have you there with me.”

I looked up into his serious, warm honey eyes.

My answer came without effort. “Sure.” From the corner of my eye I noticed Kellie and her friends walking into the store. After adjusting Tristen’s tie, I leaned in close to his ear and whispered, “Just promise that I get to pick out my own dress. I’ve got this killer black strapless number I’m dying to wear. We’ll look perfect together.” I hadn’t meant to throw in the last part. It just slipped out, but I got the reaction I hoped for from Kellie.

“Would y’all like a room?” Kellie’s hardened tome made me smile. Simply put, I couldn’t stand her, she being the sole source behind me and Tristan’s strangled friendship. Until I met her, I usually shied away from confrontation, but not anymore.

I opened my mouth, ready to smart off but Tristan beat me to the chance.

“Sure, you paying,” he countered, turning to look in the mirror at my handy work. I held back from laughing. Knowing nothing good could come out of me sticking around, I decided to leave before any other heated words could take place.

“I’ve got to go but thanks for asking me to be with you.” I finished with a peck to his cheek then turned to his fuming fiancée. “Kellie, as always, a pleasure.” I smiled as I walked past her and her shocked-faced friends.

Angela you have struck into the heart of young romance, I enjoyed every page turning moment.

Marz was playing with fire. He damn well knew he was. But that didn’t make him want to pull away.

He just wanted more of the heat.

Marz nuzzled the side of Emilie’s face with his nose, his lips. She turned her face toward him and offered her lips. He couldn’t refuse.

Capturing her mouth on a tortured groan, Marz poured every ounce of his longing and confusion and desire into the kiss. They grasped at each other and Emilie turned in his arms. He pinned her against the railing and planted his hands in her hair. She opened to him and accepted his tongue, sucking him in until Marz’s blood ran hot and his hard-on ached. He ground himself against her and devoured every little moan and whimper and gasp she spilled.

Trailing kisses from her mouth to her jaw to her ear, Marz dragged a hand down her body and grasped her breast in his palm. She cried out and her head dropped back, drawing his mouth to her neck, where he licked and sucked and nipped as he kneaded her soft flesh. “You are so damn sexy.”

Her hand flew to his hair and grasped the back of his head. “Touch me,” she said. “Don’t stop touching me.”

Marz pulled away long enough to do a three-sixty scan. The lighthouse cast a dark shadow over them, and the pier was otherwise empty. His heart raced and his pulse hammered. He dove back in, trailing kisses down her neck to her collarbone, which he traced with his tongue. Her nails scratched deliciously at his scalp and her grip urged him down.

Through the thin material of her blouse and bra, he mouthed and flicked at her nipple. He shifted the deep vee of the neckline to reveal a lacy royal blue bra. He tongued her through the lace until she was panting and moaning and writhing against the railing.

“Oh, my God,” she rasped as he shifted her shirt and moved to her other breast. This time, he tugged the lace down to bare the deep pink of her nipple. She tasted and smelled like something fruity and sweet, and it made Marz hunger for more. “Derek,” she gasped. “Yes, yes, yes.”

Her palm cupped and squeezed the bulge of his erection through his jeans. His hips jerked into the touch, craving more of her, all of her. He groaned and it seemed to egg her on, because she pressed and rubbed her hand against his trapped cock until he was panting and imagining taking her down to the ground.

“Jesus, Emilie, you’re driving me fucking crazy,” he said as he worked kisses back up her body to her mouth.

“I know just what you mean,” she said. Her molten hot gaze met his. Eyes hooded, lips shiny and swollen, cheeks flushed, she was a freaking goddess standing under the moonlit sky. He felt the force of her beauty every bit as much in his chest as in his cock.

“You sure about that, babe?” he asked as he took her mouth in a deep, wet kiss. “Because my imagination has me stripping you of those fuck-hot jeans.”

“Yeah?” She rubbed his cock in a long stroke with the heel of her hand. “Mine has us getting a room at the hotel back there. So I’m sure,” she said with a smile.

Marz’s heart hammered against his breastbone and his cock jerked, clearly liking her idea, too. Except, if he took her up on it, he was going to end up buried inside her for as long as she’d have him. And so long as this clusterfuck of a situation defined their relationship, he couldn’t take things that far. Could he?

Release Blog Tour For Exquisite Danger by Ann Mayburn with my Review

Publisher: Fated Desires Publishing (November 25, 2014)
Some people think my boyfriend, Smoke, is a total biker psycho, a natural born killer who will destroy anyone who threatens what he considers his. They wouldn’t be wrong, but he’s so much more than that. For the first time in my life I know what it’s like to be completely and truly adored by a man who loves me for exactly who I am, a high functioning autistic with more personality quirks than there are stars in the Texas Hill Country night sky. He’s the dark salvation I never dared hope for, my beloved fallen angel who is trying with all of his wicked heart to save me from what seems like an entire world bent on either killing me or a fate worse than death.
We’re headed to the Denver, Colorado chapter of the Iron Horse MC, chasing after my narcissistic, junkie mother who decided to steal from some very bad men leaving her two daughters behind to pay the price for her betrayal. My twin sister, Sarah, old lady to the Iron Horse MC president, is looking for my mother as well, but Sarah’s gone rogue and has no one to guard her back which worries me deeply. To further complicate matters, there are traitors in the Iron Horse MC who are working with my mother, not only helping her to escape but also informing my enemies of my every move.
The odds are stacked against me, but I will do whatever is necessary to protect those I love, and with Smoke at my side, I just might make it out of this mess alive.
                        ~My Review~
First let me say, this book is not for the faint of heart.  It is very descriptive and no holds barred in every aspect of the book.
Smoke and Swan are an explosive couple to say the least.  In this book we get to meet Swan’s family, both immediate and extended.
As the search continues for her (birth) mother and twin sister Sarah, the tension builds higher and higher.
There are very intense scenes where I was holding my breath, praying, crying and gripping my kindle so tight I’m surprised I didn’t snap it in two.
As always when Smoke and Swan come together the sex is somewhat frenzied, fiery hot and steamy as hell.  Much fanning and cold drinks were my rule of the day.
The “nice” excerpt below is one of my favorite conversations between Smoke and Swan.
Bravo, Ann.  You’ve done it again.  I wait (im)patiently for the next in this fabulous series.
Five contented PURRS for this book.
(Naughty and Nice)
Resting my cheek on Smoke’s chest I absently stroked the sparse hair on his arms, humming to myself while I enjoyed my post orgasmic bliss. I felt so connected to him, so loved, and I was
trying with all my might to avoid thinking about the day to come. The small, scared, dependent part of me my father had tried so hard to destroy wanted to spend the rest of the day hiding here
with my man, but I knew Smoke would never allow that.
Sure enough, his muscles flexed beneath my cheek as he sighed. “Time to get up, sweetheart.  We have a brunch we need to get to and a traitor to catch.” His perfect, bronze skin gleamed in the sunlight, and I let out an appreciative sigh as he stood. He really was too fucking hot for his own good.
“You think one of them is a spy?”
“The old ladies?”
“Yeah.” I walked into the bathroom to quickly wash the remains of our activities away with a brief shower.
There was silence while I cleaned up, and by the time I came back, he was looking at his cell phone with a frown, busily typing something.  Whatever he was reading wasn’t making him happy if the anger coming off of him was any indication, and I tensed as well, my body reacting to his non-verbal language. I watched him
begin to pace, and my pulse picked up, throwing off the lingering afterglow from good sex. The only time my man paced was when he was struggling to hold back some strong emotion, usually rage.
Fear tried to worm its way further into my heart, but I concentrated instead on getting dressed in a pair of cute jeans, with elaborate stitching on the back pockets, and a lovely orange and pink bra that matched my panties. When he growled, I turned my back and tried to apply my lip gloss with a shaking hand, before giving up and watching in the mirror as Smoke paced behind me.  When I’d first met him, I would have wanted to stop him from pacing, to try to calm him down, but now I knew him well enough to realize that this was his form of downloading. For Smoke, his ground-eating strides somehow soothed him, so I left him alone and slipped on my wrist cuffs, admiring the gleam of silver in the sunlight coming in through the partially opened shades and sheer, white curtains.
A harsh sigh escaped him when he finally stilled and met my eyes in the mirror. “It’s not outside the realm of possibility that one of them may be a traitor.”
As soon as the word traitor left Smoke’s lips, memories of my father lecturing me on how traitors were the lowest of the low, the scum of the earth, raced through my mind. If there was a rat among the old ladies, I was gonna find her, fear of meeting new people or not. I would find a way to get through this and bring us a huge leap forward in my efforts to get this fucking hit off my head, and bring Sarah home. With this in mind, I turned back to look Smoke in the eye and he grinned. With his words, the training from my dad kicked in, and I gave him a slow nod as my mind shifted from ‘Swan, the woman’ to ‘Swan, the battle-trained survivor’.
“What do you want me to do?”
“Easy, mama bear. I don’t need you clawin’ anyone’s face off.”
That brought me out of my cold space a little bit and I shrugged. “I’m going to do what has to be done.”
Still smiling at me, he nodded, and the light caught the hints of amber in his eyes, turning the irises to the color of melted chocolate. “I know you will. But for right now, just check them out. The traitor could be acting independently of her old man as well, so if a woman seems real unhappy with her man, she might be a suspect. Or if she seems really happy with everything, that might trip your female ESP as well.”
“My female ESP?”
“Yeah, you know, that chick intuition shit. Look, we don’t have time to sit around and bullshit right now. If we did I’d still be fuckin’ you instead of talkin’. Damn woman, I can’t seem to be around you without wanting you beneath me.”
Heat rushed through me, and I squeezed my thighs together to try and stop the initial ache of arousal. “Okay.”
My voice came out in a high-pitched squeak that made him chuckle. Not knowing what the day would bring, I chose a loose, long-sleeved, pink, silky shirt with a tight, white tank top beneath that, which was also a waist holster. As I got dressed, I waited for Smoke to come molest me, but he remained on the bed and focused on whatever he was texting. A renewed sense of purpose filled me, but there was also a growing sense of loss at being away from the safety Smoke provided me. He was the only person here I trusted, and I wasn’t a big fan of being in unfamiliar environments, even if he would be there with me.
“Baby, what’cha thinkin’ so hard about?”
Before I could stop the words, I said what I was really thinking. “I don’t want to be away from you.”
He sighed and looked up, watching me as I hid a variety of weapons. The weary look left his face and a slight smile curved his lips. “Make sure you don’t go through any metal detectors.”
Strapping a sheathed throwing knife to my forearm, I glanced up and raised my eyebrows.
“Ha. Ha.”
“I’ll be there, but you’ll be on your own with the women. If I hung out with you, it would be totally out of character.”
I placed my handgun into its holster on my waist before securing it in place and tugging my shirt down.
As I moved this way and that in the mirror to make sure the gun couldn’t be seen through the tank and shirt, Smoke laughed. “Does that thing have a laser sight on it?”
“Of course. Never hurts to have that little bit of extra help, but I don’t use it much. If I relied on it, I’d be a shitty shot at night.”
“Wouldn’t you worry that the laser would show them where you are?”
“Not really. When I shoot, I shoot to kill.”
“Baby, sometimes you scare me.”
I was still lost in my own fantasy world when the door to my side of the truck was jerked open, and I was snatched out before I could tumble to the ground. Smoke ignored my shriek and grabbed a blanket from the backseat before carrying me over his shoulder to the back of the truck. He took the gate down, tossed the blanket onto the bed of the truck, then perched me on the blanket, all while speaking in Spanish to someone on the phone. Judging by his tone, it wasn’t a happy conversation, but he gazed at me with lust and not anger. He wasn’t pleased with whoever he was talking to, and it made his movements somewhat harsher than usual, more dominant.
I liked that.
He put his hand over the cellphone and said in a stern, no-bullshit voice, “Take your pants off and play with that sweet pussy for me. Fuck, the thought of being the first to do all these dirty things with you and knowing that I’m gonna be the only man you’ll ever have inside of you, makes me want to give your greedy body every inch of cock it wants, and then some. I own that golden cunt.”
I moaned loudly, and arched my hips up at him, begging him to touch me as he seduced me with his raw words. I wanted to argue that I belonged only to myself, but that wasn’t true. Smoke owned a piece of me now, not just my libido but a bit of my heart and soul. I should’ve been freaked out, but I also realized I owned a part of him as well.
I looked into his dark eyes and studied his face, and found a dizzying amount of desire mixed with rougher, darker emotions. I deliberately made a great production of taking my clothes off, putting everything I’d learned while working at a strip club to good use. My moves were controlled, the dip of a shoulder to draw his gaze to my neck, a slight arch to my back that pushed my butt out.
His voice faltered for a moment then picked back up as he traced his fingers over my bottom. The tremble in his fingertips as he stroked me made me want to drive him crazy. This man loved me. It was evident in his every caress, his every glance, and his every territorial move. Smoke was one hundred percent alpha male, and his need to assert his dominance over me never failed to turn me on. He put his hand between my shoulder blades and pushed me down, then propped my butt up so I had to curve my spine to accommodate his silent demands.
Remembering what he wanted from me, I spread my legs the slightest bit and slowly ran my fingertip over the wet slit of my sex. Smoke went silent behind me for a long, long moment. When he spoke again, his voice had a rough edge to it that hadn’t been there before. I stared at the bed of the truck with unseeing eyes, my imagination painting vivid pictures of my man standing behind me, trying to concentrate on business while I tempted him with pleasure. The control that I had over Smoke with my body ramped my desire higher as I tried to entice him to touch me…taste me.
I teased myself and him, swirling two of my fingers through my arousal before sinking them slowly inside of me. I startled when Smoke grabbed my hips, but it was only so he could arch me further and spread my legs wider, leaving nothing of my body hidden from him. He stroked the back of my thigh with one hand, his voice becoming nothing but a rumbling sound in my ears as I reveled in his attention. My fingers felt good inside of me, but his cock would feel so much better.
“Touch me,” I whispered.
Evidently I said it loud enough so that Smoke could hear me, because a second later he spanked my bottom hard enough to sting. I almost jerked my hand away from my pussy in surprise, but his hand cupped over mine. He moved my fingers inside of me, using my hand to touch my pussy the way he wanted me to. I gave myself over to him completely, my bite-bruised breasts crushed to the blanket and my ass feeling heated in the cool air.
When he was satisfied that I was playing with my sex as he’d silently instructed, he removed his hand for a moment and unzipped his pants to free his thick erection Then he ran his thumb near the entrance to my body, coating it with my arousal. I tensed when that thumb began to spread my natural lubricant up to my anus, but he just played with me, toying with my body until I was trying to get him to sink his thumb into my bottom. A naughty pleasure tightened my sex, and I groaned as he slowly breached my rear entrance with his thumb, which felt gigantic.
I tensed, not sure if I liked this sensation. It was weird and uncomfortable and…ohhhh, God… Smoke was smacking my hand away so he could press his rock-hard shaft against my pussy. His thumb turned from a distraction to an erotic thrill as he slowly sank into me, now speaking in English. I had no idea what he was saying, too caught up in the press of his almost unbearably thick dick breaching me where I needed him the most. The feeling of coming together was bliss, and I moaned from deep in my chest. When he went to pull out, I squeezed my inner muscles and earned a rough, choking sound from Smoke, followed by a snarl directed at the person on the phone.
“Baby, bite down on that blanket,” he whispered to me. “I don’t want this dirty fucker Hustler listening to you. You get too loud and I’ll stop fuckin’ you.”
I managed to gather the blanket, and hoped it was clean as I bit down on it. Personally, I didn’t give a shit if Hustler heard me. I’d seen him getting a blowjob by a pretty, but world-weary woman. Hustler could kiss my ass about me making any noises. It felt good to moan my pleasure into the cloth, and I had no doubt that Smoke—he loved gagging me—was getting off on the sight. Evidently, I had a bit of an exhibitionist streak because the idea of Hustler on the phone getting turned on by our fucking made my pussy clench. Now, I’m not saying I’d touch Hustler, ever, but I wanted to do anything and everything, as long as I did it with Smoke. A decadent shiver went through me at the sheer naughtiness of what we were doing, and I began to rock back onto Smoke’s devastating cock, enjoying the slow burn as he stretched me.
He stood still and let me experiment, his thumb still playing with my bottom. My eyelids slowly closed, and I became lost in the nothingness, my entire being focused on what kind of sensations I could coax from my buzzing nerves while rocking my hips back into Smoke. Soon, I was making little, pained noises into the blanket. There was a place on the upper part of my pussy that felt really, really good when he stroked over it in a certain way. The ridge of the crest of his shaft was pressing into me just right, and I shuddered then grunted.
I barely moved a few inches with each roll of my hips, trying to move to maximize that wonderful, hard tingle I got with every short stroke. It almost felt like he was rubbing my clit from the inside. Another hard moan escaped me, muffled by the blanket, then both of Smoke’s hands gripped my hips hard enough that it sent bright sparks of pleasure/pain surging through me.
“You like that, my naughty girl? When my cock strokes you right…there?”
I cried out as he shoved roughly into me, pressing hard on that spot and making my whole body shiver and shake.
“Yeah, you like that.” His chuckle was that of a smug, self-satisfied male. “We’ll have to see if I can make you squirt for me sometime. But right now, I need to fuck you before anyone else calls me.”
With that he pulled all the way out until the bulbous head of his dick stretched the entrance to my sex, a cry of distress leaving my lips before I could stop it. He laughed again, but the sound turned into a growl as he began to fuck me, harsh thrusts that rocked the truck with his movements. One of his hands left my hip and wound into my hair, pulling back hard enough that I couldn’t help but scream out my pleasure.

~Author Bio~
Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of  West Virginia. In her past lives she’s been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist,   a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan   Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead-though she will deny to her children that it ever happened.
From a young age she’s been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that   often  was the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she   discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless   stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she’s never looked back.
Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her ‘sexy space’ and has learned to type one handed while soothing a cranky baby.
