Winter Blog Blurb

Grizzly shifter Joselyn Arthur has been living a lie. She’s been lying to her parents, her siblings, and even herself. The decision to move back to her hometown in the mountains of Alberta, Canada, after university and take a job in the family brewery two years ago was the dumbest choice she’d ever made.

Alton Tarben has also been working his butt off for the past two years in his family’s brewery on the other side of town. He too is questioning why on earth he thought this would be a good idea. He’s lonely and bored, and his bed needs warming.

When the two breweries end up in a battle over new product launches, Joselyn and Alton decide they’ve had enough. Enough hiding. Enough sneaking around. Enough separation.

The problem is that life is not that simple. Silvertip isn’t progressive enough to tolerate the binding of two shifters from rival bear packs. Joselyn and Alton must decide if they’re finally willing to put their happiness first and risk losing their families and their community.

Winter Blog Review

Nothing worth having is ever easy, but in this case, it’s almost excruciating.

Alton and Joselyn are in love, they know they are mates but haven’t sealed the deal because their families are rivals in the brewing business.

Alton stayed in college away from the prying eyes that could keep them apart just to be close to her. Now that they’re home working for their respective families things just got very complicated.

On her side there are doubts about the need for a marketing division and also the snide remarks about nepotism since her father is CEO and Alpha.

Alton’s family has welcomed him back and if anything is now overworking him, he doesn’t have the negativity around him though.

These two have to do something and soon. The mating pull is becoming painful for them both.

This is a favorite scene at Austin and Nuria’s home.

Even though Alton couldn’t see his brother’s face, he still knew he rolled his eyes as he opened the door wider. “Come in.”

Nuria stood. “Hey,” she said.

Joselyn looked like she might faint. He couldn’t blame her. She’d been ambushed, and so far she didn’t even know it, so she was trying to pretend she didn’t know Alton as anyone more than a passing relative of Austin’s.

Alton needed to fix the imbalance of knowledge first and foremost. “Baby, we’ve been tricked.” He swallowed to clear his throat before continuing. “I think Nuria believed an intervention was needed to get us together.”

Joselyn’s face turned a darker shade of red than what Alton felt his own skin must look like. She stood two feet inside the house without moving while Austin closed the door.

Alton found his feet and raced across the room to pull her into his arms.

She slumped against him. He tugged her coat off her arms and dropped it on the floor at their feet before cupping her face and holding her a few inches back.

She blinked huge, questioning eyes.

“They know.”

“How…?” She cleared her throat. “How did they find out?”

“Nuria must have some sort of mate radar or something,” he teased, trying to lighten the mood in the room. “She saw us looking at each other two weeks ago at my parents’ house. She was the one who confronted me earlier today when I had to hang up on you.”

Joselyn still looked shocked. She didn’t speak. Finally, her hands wrapped around his middle and squeezed as a tear slid down her face. “I’m sorry.”

Nuria interrupted the moment. “Oh, God. Please don’t apologize. You misunderstand. I was only trying to help. Nothing leaves this room.”

Austin spoke next. “She’s right. You two obviously need a safe place to meet, and you need to figure out a way to move forward. This has to stop. It’s unnatural. It hurts me just hearing about it. Nuria and I will go out for a while, shift and go for a hike, and give you a chance to talk…or, uh, whatever.”

Without taking his gaze off Joselyn, Alton sensed his brother and Nuria shuffling around the room until the sliding door off the kitchen opened and closed quickly. Austin reached out to Alton. “Guest room. First door on the right.”

Alton wanted to smile at the implication, but the moment was too serious for that yet.

“Are you mad?” Joselyn finally asked, tentatively.

He flinched. “God no. Baby, no.” He held her head tighter and kissed her lips, forcing himself not to devour her just yet. They needed to talk first. Fuck after. “First of all, this isn’t your fault. Secondly, I trust my brother and his mate to keep this under wraps until we’re ready to tell everyone. And thirdly, he’s right. We can’t live like this.”

“Okay, that last part isn’t news.” She lowered her hands down his back and slid them under his shirt. When her palms flattened on his skin, he sucked in a breath. Even though her hands were cold, her touch was welcoming. It never failed to calm him.
Jameson, Becca . Grizzly Secret (Arcadian Bears Book 3) (Kindle Locations 1390-1415). Hartwood Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Now while this makes things a tad easier for Joselyn and Alton, they really do have many more obstacles to overcome.

Between the things with Austin and Nuria and the brewery rivalry and well just everything, I laughed and cried and just kept turning the pages.

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Winter Blog Blurb

His friend’s little sister…

Sasha Easton has had her eye on Lincoln Walsh—the owner of Club Zodiac—for five years. Unfortunately, he does nothing but scowl at her and reject her every shy advance.

She’s not right for him…

Lincoln doesn’t have a choice but to discourage Sasha because the truth is that he’s a sadist. And Sasha is no masochist. No matter how much he might want her in his bed, he can’t change the type of Dom he is.

She’s not as innocent as he thinks…

Determined to get Lincoln to see her as more than his business partner’s little sister, Sasha delivers an ultimatum—let her join Club Zodiac or she’ll explore her submission elsewhere.

Can he train her and let her go?

Watching the only woman he’s ever wanted play with another Dom is more than Lincoln can bear, so he finds himself agreeing to train her himself. After all, he’s confident if he pushes her hard enough, he can protect her from the lifestyle and himself from admitting the truth about his feelings.

Winter Blog Review

When Becca Jameson takes you on a journey to submission, she does it with detail. Stunning detail.

Sasha has known about the BDSM lifestyle for a very long time. When her parents died, her brother Rowen had her spending time in the offices above the club while he worked. She’s also known she is a submissive for a very long time. The problem, her submission is reserved for only one man.

Lincoln steps up when Sasha carries out her ultimatum to go to another club. He tells volunteers to go to the Club to keep an eye on her, protect her if you will.

This is a favorite scene when Lincoln kind of comes to her rescue.

The bottom line was he was selfish. He could not have her for himself, and he couldn’t bear the idea of watching her submit to another Dom, so he needed her to get this idea out of her head and move on to live a nice vanilla life.

Admittedly, his thoughts confused him. Visions of Sasha were unlike any other images he had for other women. They made no sense. They boggled his mind. He’d pushed them aside. Every time. For years.

He squeezed his eyes closed and forced himself back into the moment, stroking his hand over the soft skin of her arm while holding her lower back to keep her from slipping out of his grasp.

“Sasha?” he whispered as he smoothed his hand up to her shoulder and out from under the blanket to cup her face. “Look at me, sweetheart.” Sweetheart? Jesus.

She shook her head, burrowing tighter against him. “I’m so stupid,” she muttered. “What was I thinking?”

“You were thinking you wanted to see what all the hype was about. It’s natural. You were curious.” He nudged her chin again, but she didn’t budge. “You were also lucky. If I hadn’t been here, you would really be in a bind right now.”

That wasn’t necessarily true. Master Colin could have handled things. He was a seasoned Master. He would have stopped the scene immediately and been sitting where Lincoln was right now.

Lincoln gritted his teeth at the idea of Colin holding Sasha or even touching her skin. It had been hard enough to watch the man stroke her arms and shoulder. Lincoln had nearly slammed a fist into the wall when Colin had lifted her skirt, exposing the bottom swell of her cheeks.

Sasha shuddered, her fingers finding his T-shirt and fisting the cotton again. “You knew I was going to be here.”

He could barely hear her. “Yes.”

She groaned, lifting her face finally. “Rowen’s going to kill me when he hears about this.”

He shook his head, meeting her gaze. “No, he isn’t. He won’t even know.”

She lifted her brows.

“I mean, he knows you’re here, but he doesn’t have to find out the details.” He wanted to wipe that frightened look from her face. He wanted to kiss her forehead. Hell, he focused on her full pink lips and considered kissing her right on the mouth.

Lord, Lincoln. Get a fucking grip.

She calmed slightly, swallowing. Her face was streaked with tears.

Lincoln lifted his hand and wiped them away with the pad of his thumb. He needed to administer aftercare like he would with any sub. “Talk to me about what happened in there, sweetheart.” Jesus, fuck, Lincoln, stop using that endearment.
Becca Jameson. Training Sasha (Kindle Locations 623-644). Becca Jameson.

Now things get pretty intense, and Lincoln is very hard on Sasha. His motive is only to get her to forget the lifestyle.

I could almost feel Lincoln’s looks, his words, actions, and frustrations.

The Dominant fighting his own needs for the good of the sub and ultimately himself.

Sasha is determined and sure of her submission. The only people who can’t seem to see it are the people who matter the most, Lincoln and her brother.

Sexy, hot, and tearful at times. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in the next book.

My Review of Grizzly Beginning – Arcadian Bears Book 2 by Becca Jameson

Grizzly Beginning
Arcadian Bears Book 2
By
Becca Jameson

1cf2a-addtogoodreads

Nuria Orson has waited fifteen years to return to her hometown of Silvertip, Alberta, the place where she was molested at age fifteen by her boyfriend’s older brother. If she had her way, she would never return, but she needs to sell her childhood home so she can move on with her life. Her plan is to slip into town, sell the house, and relocate as far away as possible before anyone finds out. Not an easy task for a grizzly shifter easily scented by anyone who wanders close enough.

Austin Tarben has spent half his life silently pining for the girl he was certain was his mate before she left town with her parents in the middle of the night fifteen years ago. Believing she willingly dumped him for his brother before she disappeared, he has longed for answers for all these years.

When Austin learns his childhood sweetheart is in town, he forces himself to confront her if for no other reason than peace of mind. But Nuria doesn’t welcome him with open arms. In fact, she’s furious. As the true story of what happened in high school unfolds, the two mates must decide if they can put the past behind them and forge a future together.

But Austin isn’t the only shifter in town shocked by Nuria’s arrival. It would seem she has a pile of enemies. Before Austin and Nuria can possibly reconcile, they need to figure out who wants her dead and why.

There are some misunderstandings even mates can’t overcome, and it’s difficult to be certain the act of binding together for the rest of their lives will create a bond strong enough to heal the hurt.

KindleLogo Barnes and Noble logo_150 ibooks-logo-150x150KoboLogo

I am really loving this series. These bears are devoted and protective of what’s theirs. In this one Austin wants answers from Nuria and when he gets them he isn’t sure she can ever forgive him. She is still unbound after fifteen years and she is still his mate. This is a favorite scene when she reveals the reason her parents spirited her away all those years ago.

“You pulled away from me. For weeks, maybe months, you pulled away. We used to spend every afternoon together doing homework, eating snacks, laughing, watching stupid reruns on TV…” The flood of memories ate a hole in him.She wrapped her arms around herself as if chilled.

“And then you stopped coming around as often. I still saw you at school. We hung a few times, but something had changed. I didn’t know what. Rumor had it you were seeing someone else. Rumor had it you were seeing Antoine. And then I saw you in the barn that day.”

She flinched.

He swallowed, the memory bringing bile to his mouth as it always did. His voice was lower when he continued. “My life ended that moment. I never recovered. Why? Were you seeing him behind my back?”

She tucked her lips into her mouth, not meeting his gaze. Her gorgeous curls fell around her face like a curtain. Her hair was thicker and longer than he remembered. Something else was different about it too…

It wasn’t pulled back. When they were younger, she hated it getting in her eyes. She spent so much time brushing the wispy loose curls away from her forehead or cheeks that she made him laugh. Now it was down. Shrouding her. Covering her face. Was she hiding? From the world?

“Make me understand,” he begged.

“It’s too late, Austin. There’s nothing to say. You made your judgment about me. You can’t take it back.”

He furrowed his brow. “I made a judgment? How do you figure?” He leaned forward, set his hands on both sides of her thighs, and crowded her personal space. “Tell me, Nuria. Make me understand why my girlfriend, my mate, the woman I intended to spend my life with, was in the barn of my parents’ home fucking my brother?”

His voice rose higher. “Why did I have to see that? Tell me?” he insisted.

Suddenly, she snapped. Her head jerked up, and fury filled her eyes. “You think you’re so smart? If you were so sure we were meant to bind to each other, then why the hell did you believe I would fuck your damn brother so easily?”

He flinched. “You telling me you didn’t?”

She shoved at his chest, but he didn’t move. “That’s what I’m telling you, you dick. Not only did I manage to get away, but now I’m finding out my own boyfriend saw his smarmy brother trying to rape me, and instead of helping, he fucking left me there to fend for myself.” She screamed those last words, spit hitting him in the face.

He felt like he’d been slapped. No. Much worse.

She shoved away from him in his stupor and scrambled to stand behind him. Tears streamed down her face. “I wish you hadn’t come here at all. I never would have known what a fucking jackass you were.” Her voice rose higher in pitch. “You fucking left me there in that barn? With your disgusting brother pawing at me? Tearing at my clothes?”

He spun around to face her.

“I fought with all my might to keep him from pulling off my jeans. Do you know how much bigger he is? I had to jerk my face back and forth to keep him from biting my neck and fucking binding me to him. I was fifteen years old, Austin. Fifteen.”
Austin lowered his ass to his heels, unable to hold himself up. He set his hands on his thighs.

“The only thing that saved me from a fate worse than hell that day was a cat that jumped down from the rafters and scared your brother for enough seconds for me to wiggle out from under him and run from the barn. I ran hard and fast in human form until I got to the tree line, and then I shifted and ran faster in bear form.”

Austin felt like he’d been punched in the gut.

She was shaking. Tears fell freely down her face. She wiped them away with the back of her hand. “And my boyfriend, the person I trusted most in the world, saw that? You left me there?” She sobbed, and then she spun around and ran from the room.

He listened as she stormed out of the house, the back door slamming. And then she was gone.

He had no doubt she’d shifted and headed into the woods. He couldn’t blame her. He was indeed the biggest dick alive.

My Review of Becca Jameson’s Rescue in the Smokies – Durham Wolves Book 1

Rescue in the Smokies
Durham Wolves Book 1
By
Becca Jameson

1cf2a-addtogoodreads

Rescue in the Smokies is a rerelease of the first book in the Durham Wolves series. It has been reedited, but the story remains the same.

Welcome to the Durham Wolves series by best-selling author Becca Jameson. The Durham brothers own a farm in the Smoky Mountains where they raise Thoroughbred horses. After ten years of coexisting in the mountains with the local vampire, relations between the brothers and the bloodsucker begin to go south. The vampire wants the shifters off “his” mountain, and he will stop at nothing to convince them to leave. As the three brothers meet their mates, fear for their safety increases. Each book in the series follows one brother’s mating and subsequent encounters with the increasingly powerful vampire.

Only one will win the right to call her “mate.”

Sergius Durham and his brothers are legendary trackers, and only the local sheriff knows why. They’re wolf shifters, attempting to live quietly on their horse farm. A difficult task when they’re summoned every time a hiker goes missing.

Serg knows there’s something different about his latest case the moment he touches her clothing. She’s his mate, and nothing will stop him from finding and claiming her—except maybe the nuisance of a vampire who lured her off the trail.

Juliana Polanski isn’t sure how she got so lost, but there’s no mistaking her instant attraction to her rescuer. There’s also no denying the passion that explodes between them when rain drives them into a cave for shelter—or at his home, in his bed, even after the crazy, improbable truth of his heritage comes out.

Serg knows the danger isn’t over. At any moment Julianna could be kidnapped right out of his arms—by the only creature the Durham brothers have never been able to track.

KindleLogo Barnes and Noble logo_150 ibooks-logo-150x150KoboLogogoogle_play_logo_002_002 smashwords_logo

I love wolf shifters and this book is no exception. The addition of a vampire just sweetens the story.

I fell in love with Serg the moment I met him. I mean really a wolf and a rescuer. What more could you want. The minute he gets the hiker’s scent from the Sherriff’s vehicle he knows he’s going to find his mate.

The vampire Keeton McKinney thinks of this mountain as his, he’s roamed it for three hundred years. The wolves had only been around for ten of those and it’s time he puts them in their place. The woman is his, he’s never wanted to keep one alive until now. Maybe he won’t have to spend the next three hundred years alone.

Juliana is an experienced hiker and now she is lost. She never should have listened to the hiker who told her of a short cut. Fortunately she had enough supplies to make it through the night.

This is a favorite scene when Serg finds Juliana.

He crouched beside her. Her breaths were shallow, her face totally relaxed in deep sleep. He laid a hand on her shoulder. “Juliana?”

His fingers shook where they’d made contact with her warmth, shockwaves traveling up his arm even through the jacket and whatever she wore underneath. The urge to haul her into his embrace made him tense. He needed to know she was all right. Every bit of her.

She startled awake and bolted upright. “Ohmygod,” she gasped. A strangled sound left her throat. Her gaze met his from only a few inches away, green eyes like deep pools of water reflecting her shock, her fear, and her relief all at once.

“Are you okay?”

She smiled up at him, cute dimples forming on both cheeks. “I am now.” She inhaled, releasing it slowly.

Her heart rate slowed under his palm after the initial surprise. He could feel her pulse in her neck, the swish of blood as it coursed through her.
“Are you injured?”

“Only my pride.” Her pale face tipped back again, her cheeks now flushed. “How did you find me? Where am I?”

“You’re a long way from where you left the path, that’s for sure. Scores of people are combing the woods searching for you.” In a completely different direction. But she didn’t need to know that right now. “How did you get so far from where you started?”

“A man recommended I take a shortcut. When it got late I backtracked. I must have taken a wrong turn, because before I knew it, it was dark. I walked for a little longer and finally saw a light in the distance.” She dipped her head down, her face no longer visible to his perusal. “How embarrassing. I hike hundreds of miles every year. I’ve never gotten lost before. I-I’m not sure how this happened.”

“It doesn’t matter. You’re okay now. Everything’s going to be fine. Did you walk all night? You must be exhausted. Hungry.” He was rambling. He never rambled. She had him tongue-tied. No, he’d never acted like this even as a youngster. Wolves didn’t fall all over themselves quite like humans did. Not until they met their mates, apparently.

She giggled. The sweetest sound he’d ever heard. “I think I’m okay. Relieved you found me. Wasn’t sure what I was going to do if I had to keep walking all night again.”

Why had she chosen to travel by night and sleep by day? Sure, it was a better idea as far as warmth was concerned, but not many people would think of such a thing under stress. Sergius stood and extended his hand to her. She rose alongside him, steadying her slight frame. But her grip sent his mind whirling. Every hair on his body felt electrified.
Becca Jameson. Rescue in the Smokies (Kindle Locations 303-323). Becca Jameson.

The attraction between these two is intense and almost overwhelming. Leading to a sizzling scene in a cave where they shelter from a sudden storm as they trek to the main road.

McKinney is pissed off and on the hunt. He saw her first and wants her back.

The problem is she doesn’t know anything about the supernatural and now she has to learn, accept and mate. All to keep herself safe.

Sizzling sex, adventure and action as the Durham brothers protect what’s theirs and fight off the vampire.

A Giveaway Celebrating The Arcadian Bears – A New Series From Becca Jameson: Grizzly Mountain Book 1

Grizzly Mountain
Arcadian Bears Book 1
By
Becca Jameson

1cf2a-addtogoodreads

Heather Simmons is excited to start a new job in Alberta, Canada, as a glaciologist. But when a minor accident leaves her trapped on a hiking trail overnight, she finds herself facing a burly mountain man and a pair of grizzly bears. From that moment forward, things could not get weirder.

Isaiah Arthur knows instinctively that Heather is his mate the moment he scents her clothing before heading up the mountain to rescue her. The sensation is confusing since she is obviously human, and converting a human to his species is strictly forbidden.

A rogue shifter takes Heather’s transition out of Isaiah’s hands, however. Isaiah is left with no choice but to take her home and find a way to inform her of her unintended fate, while fighting the intense need to make her his as soon as possible.

The North American governing body, the Arcadian Council, is not amused by the rare turning of a human, and chaos ensues as Isaiah races against the clock to bind his mate to him forever before someone steps in the way and takes the opportunity out of his hands.

KindleLogo

If you don’t already know I love shifters. I really don’t care what animal they just call to me.

Grizzly bears are huge and you never want to interact with one. One of the first things I noticed with Heather hiking alone is that she didn’t seem to have some safety items, bear repellant would be a thought. The other thing, no matter how experienced you are you should always hike with someone. Case in point, this story.

Now Heather was experienced, it was a day hike, although she started later than she should have. Injuring her ankle was unexpected and she was at least prepared should she have to spend the night in the wilderness. Her mother notified the park rangers when she didn’t check in so that was good too.

Isaiah is a shifter, he and his family often help with tracking lost hikers. This time was different though. From the moment he scented her he knew she was his. His mate, but that couldn’t happen she wasn’t a shifter, she is human.

Getting in the face of a bear isn’t something Heather is used to seeing and neither is two bears getting into a fight. That is what happens, unfortunately not before she is clawed. In this respect these bears are different from other shifters I have read. This ‘scratch’ is going to change her life.

From meeting his family and having her injuries tended to calling her parents to let them know she is safe, Heather has no idea what’s coming.

The Arcadian Council sends representatives to be sure she doesn’t leave Isaiah’s home and others search for Jack, the bear who attacked her.

This is a favorite scene as Isaiah tries to get her to understand what’s going on.

He shook his head. “You have no idea the danger you’re in or what I’m protecting you from. Those guys out front won’t hesitate to take you with them. I doubt I would ever see you again.”

“The bears? The two bears out front?”

“There are four of them, but yes.”

“What are they doing? Guarding your home?”

“No. They’re not keeping anyone out, baby. They’re making sure you don’t leave. I made a deal with them to give me some time to help you shift. The only reason they probably agreed was because none of them want to deal with an independent shifter in the back of their car on a trip north.”

“An independent shifter?” She felt like a parrot. And why the hell was she bothering to continue this ridiculous conversation?

“As in not having a pack. Alone. When you transform, you’ll automatically be a free agent, so to speak. A shifter without a pack. You’ll be able to choose your own pack. I’m hoping you’ll choose mine, but I can’t stop you from choosing whatever you want. You have your own free will.”

Progress. He admitted she had free will. That had to be worth something. He kept speaking, his tale growing by the minute.

“A scratch that draws blood forces a human into the change. If Jack had bitten you, his bite would have forced you to become a member of his pack without consent. And finally… a bite with the right secretions from his saliva would have bound you to him for life as his mate.”

She tried to focus on his words, but they were so preposterous.

He leaned closer, his face inches away. “I want the man that bites you and binds you to be me.”

“I see.” She saw nothing but a pile of insanity. She also shivered and tipped her head to one side, thinking about the spot where he’d set his teeth on her earlier and then licked.

“You don’t, but you will.”

She was so hot. The inside of his damn house was a furnace. It might be worth racing out the front door just to cool off. She’d take her chances with the bears out front, whom Isaiah believed to be half human. “What if I want to go with the bears out front?”

“If you still want to go with them after you change and understand the implications fully, I won’t stop you, but for now, you’re humoring me with extreme skepticism. I can’t blame you, but I also won’t let you put yourself in danger.”

It was true he didn’t seem mad. Just frustrated. She bit her lower lip to keep from saying more.

“You’re burning up with fever, baby.” His words were far gentler. “Our body temp runs a bit higher than humans, but the fever is from your body fighting off the need to shift as if it were a virus. When the bear wins, you will shift, and the fever will disappear.”

She struggled to follow his logic. “You think I’m going to become a bear soon?”

“I know you are.”

“And you intend to help me.”

“All the way.”

Now there are many implications here and many things to be explained and worked out. Most importantly her safety, her choice in pack and their mating.

Conflicts, seriously hot scenes and plenty of humor put this series on my must follow list.

A blind date with a sexy major league baseball player seems harmless enough. Except Ava Phillips falls hard for Xavier Monreal and then can’t get him to move off first base.

Xavier has some family issues that need resolving before he’s boyfriend material for anyone. He also has a stubborn streak that keeps Ava at arm’s length.

Time and again their agendas clash. Ava has personal goals that keep her from spending much time with Xavier. Meanwhile, Xavier needs to get his head out of his ass if he wants to earn her respect.

Major league baseball is a demanding sport not conducive to long-term relationships. Only the strongest can survive.

Set in his ways and just a little bit bossy, Xavier has found a challenge in Ava. Although young she has a spark to her and just the right amount of submissiveness.

In a perfect world these two wouldn’t have any problems. However, Xavier’s father has some archaic viewpoints. Almost immediately this man decides to take matters in his own hands. This is just a taste of what he tries to do to this budding relationship.

He leaned in farther. “I don’t care how you met. I want you to leave and let my son do his job. If he gets all wrapped up in some girl, he won’t be able to concentrate on what really matters. Do you want to ruin his career? Is that it?”

“No. Of course not.” What the hell was happening here? His family had been so kind yesterday. His father seemed like he came from another planet.

“He has responsibilities. Obligations to his family. You’re in the way.”

She opened her mouth and then closed it. “I don’t think my relationship with Xavier is any of your business.” She needed to stiffen her spine. Just because he was Xavier’s father didn’t mean she should become spineless. She was a strong, independent woman. Not some baseball floozy.

He rolled his eyes. “I figured you would be resistant.” He pulled a folded paper out of his shirt pocket and held it out. “Here. Take this. Consider it compensation for your time. Make yourself gone. Don’t come back.”

She stared at what was obviously a check, blinking in shock. She did not reach for it. “Are you serious?” She lifted her gaze to his.

“Completely.” He shook the check closer to her.

“Compensation for my time? I’m not a hooker, Mr. Monreal. I’m simply dating your son.” Wasn’t she? After last night’s antics, she didn’t know what she was to Xavier, but she sure as hell wasn’t going to explain herself to this man at the door.

“Now you’re done dating my son. He doesn’t need some blanquita taking his eye off the ball.” He dropped the check on the floor in front of her and turned to leave. As he stepped outside, he grabbed the doorframe and twisted back around. “I suggest you take my advice. Deposit the check for your trouble and don’t come back.” Then he was gone.

Ava hardly had the strength to shut the door, but she didn’t want Carlos Monreal to think he’d gotten to her, so she eased it closed, locked it, and then slid to the floor.

A day and a half of stress caught up with her in an instant, and tears slid down her face. What the hell had just happened?

She heard a car start and take off. Swiping the tears off her face didn’t help. The next thing she knew, she was in a full-blown cry, sobbing loudly while letting her face sink to her knees.

The world had gone completely insane.
Becca Jameson. Catching Ava (Kindle Locations 614-632).

Xavier has a feeling that Ava is the one for him, the one he can spend forever with. When circumstances throw the ultimate curve ball, he doesn’t know if he can get past her running from him when things get a bit tough.

Ava finds herself conflicted, confused and totally in love. With so many different outside influences, most of which Xavier is in the dark about, this relationship is quite the roller coaster ride.

Winter Blog Blurb

This first book in the series, Catching Zia, features the second baseman and his desire to meet a woman who isn’t after him for his money or his celebrity status.

With two strikes against him, this baseball player is desperate to make contact.

Zia’s main passion in life is art. And she’d gladly spend days on end sketching the hunky man who stops to admire her work while jogging through the park one sunny afternoon.

Brett has been ogling Zia for days. The sketch in her lap provides the perfect opening. When it’s immediately obvious she has no idea he’s a major league baseball player, he relishes the opportunity to take a gorgeous woman out on a normal date.

But what Brett doesn’t know is that Zia grew up with a compulsive liar, and his omission is more than she can tolerate. Second chances are rare in this life, and somehow Brett manages to squander that one also. He’s got an uphill battle if he wants to fight for this strong-willed woman.

Winter Blog Review

Zia is a down to earth kind of girl, she loves her art and even though her job as a nanny will be coming to an end she doesn’t know if she has enough incentive to go the ‘starving’ artist route. She’s sold some of her work and her best friend has been at her to do a show, but bills need to be paid regularly.

Brett is enjoying his last few weeks before heading to spring training. He jogs every morning and has noticed a young woman on several of his runs. He wasn’t sure how to approach her, mostly women came on to him but this one was different, special, he wanted to get to know her without the stigma of being a ball player. When he stopped by the bench where she was engrossed in sketching he knew he found an opening. This is a favorite scene.

The sexy hot guy is still talking to me…

“Mmm.” He snapped his fingers. “Do you do murals by any chance? Like wall murals?”

“I have, on occasion. I did some for the kids I watch. And some of their friends.” You need some teddy bears on a wall in your house? Suddenly she jerked her gaze to his left hand to see if he was married. Maybe he had kids and needed to hire someone to paint their rooms.

Nope. Or at least he didn’t wear a ring. There wasn’t a tan line or an indentation either, but that didn’t necessarily mean anything. Some people didn’t like to wear a wedding ring.

Surely he wouldn’t have made a flippant statement about kids being confusing and sticky if he had his own, though.

Before he spoke again, he reached over his shoulder with one hand and tugged his scrap of T-shirt over his head.

Holy mother of God. He was so freakishly built. His damn chest was like a sculpture. If she had some clay, she would love to have him pose for a day and let her recreate him. Or maybe it would take two days. She might even be able to drag it out longer.

Brett wiped the sweat off his face with his wadded T-shirt. “My sister’s about to have a baby,” he beamed. “It’s a girl. She’s been looking for someone to do a mural on one wall of the nursery. Fairies or something. Could you do it?”

Ah, so there was a reason this man was speaking to her. Bingo. It wasn’t because he thought she was cute or beautiful or gorgeous or sexy or whatever men needed to think to ask a woman out. It was because he needed her services.

She blew out a breath and let her shoulders fall. This was more comfortable territory than thinking he was attracted to her.

Wasn’t it?

Or maybe it was actually disappointing deep down.

He stared at her quizzically.

Shit. He’d asked her a question. “Uh, I suppose. Yes. Does she live near here? When does she need it?”

He nodded. “Close, yes. And she still has a few weeks. How long does a mural usually take?”

“Oh, it depends. But often not more than a day or two. I can do it on my days off. Usually over a weekend.”

“Cool. Do you have a card or something? I could have her call you.” This conversation was more bizarre than any she’d ever had. She didn’t know this man. He could be a serial killer for all she knew. Although that wasn’t likely considering how normal he seemed— if you overlooked his physique. That part was not remotely normal.

“No.” She felt a flush race up her cheeks. “Haven’t really needed one. But I’ve got a website if she wants to see some of my previous work. It’s not much, but it’s there.” She reached into her bag and pulled out a coffee shop receipt. Flipping it over, she wrote her web address and phone number on the back side and then handed it to him.

Who in their right mind would contact her after that most unprofessional exchange? She really did need business cards if she ever expected to make a go of her art career.

Who was she kidding? An art career? She’d been slowly accumulating pieces for the last few years. But the reality was she didn’t have the savings to take a risk and go all in. She needed a backup job to keep the rent paid. So, she’d been scouring the want ads for another family needing a nanny.

Maybe she was selling herself short? She sat up straighter, smiled warmly, and made a mental decision to expand her job focus. “I’d be happy to meet with your sister sometime to discuss the possibilities. If she’s interested.”

Brett tucked the receipt in his shorts pocket and smiled back at her.
“Perfect. I’ll let her know.”
Becca Jameson. Catching Zia (Kindle Locations 97-126). Becca Jameson.

Of course he would be at his sister’s home when she worked. He planned it so he could take her to dinner. A dinner where the attraction between them grew to be sizzling.

However his sins of omission would cause a rift undermining his attempts to further their connection.

I can’t say how many times I shook my head and said no, no, no, in this. Men can be so dumb sometimes and women can be so stubborn.

This is not a typical relationship since Brett is a ‘star’, but it’s definitely a challenging one. Steamy sex and misunderstandings make for a page turning read.

Alena Dudko’s life has been upside down for a year and a half. First she was abducted and held for six months in Russia, and then she was rescued and went into hiding in the US. She’s done hiding. She’s also done tiptoeing around Ivan Belinsky, pretending she doesn’t want the man in her bed.

Ivan has been responsible for keeping Alena safe for nearly two months. He has spent every minute of that time fighting his attraction toward her. After all, she’s his best friend’s sister, she has no idea Ivan is a Dominant, and she has innocence written on her forehead. She is off limits.

When Alena bares everything—literally—Ivan is forced to face his feelings head on. But nothing changes the fact that the leader of the Russian Mafia is after both them and their friends. The FBI is working frantically to capture Anton Yenin and put an end to the terror, but it’s taking longer than anyone would have hoped.

Alena won’t wait for the threat to be contained. She intends to live her life now. It’s up to Ivan. In? Or out?

review-fall-cornucopia

It seems Alena is getting tired of a lot of things not just being hidden. She wants Ivan to notice her as more than Mikhail’s sister. So with Sergei out of the apartment and her brother with Haley she makes her move. Oh what a move it is, poor Ivan isn’t given much of a choice as he faces her nudity and his own libido. In spite of his initial instincts he knows he must speak with Mikhail before this goes too far. He needs her brother’s blessing in order to pursue this undeniable attraction. First he has to get her out of the apartment and to the gym. Trust me when I say Alena is not pleased.

This is a favorite scene after Alena realizes Mikhail and Ivan had been talking about her. She runs out of the gym and Ivan follows.

“Do you know how many times I’ve been alone in the last year? None. Not one goddamn second. Not even a millisecond. Sure, I was being held in some fucked-up facility in Siberia for months, but when I was rescued and told I would be coming to the US and reuniting with my brother, do you know what I thought?”

He didn’t move.

She wasn’t waiting for a response, anyway. “I thought finally, finally, freedom. Boy was I wrong. If I knew then what I know now, I’d probably tell those guys who rescued me to leave me there. Three square meals. No running. No hiding. Nobody chasing me.”

Still he didn’t move.

“I hate this life. Hate it. You guys boss me around all day like I have no sense. Like I’m three years old.” She got sassy, tossing her hair back and forth and speaking in a sing-songy voice. “‘ Alena, don’t go so close to the window.’ ‘Alena, no you can’t get a job.’ ‘Alena, tell me what feminine products you want from the store, and I’ll get them for you.’”

Ivan flinched.

“Even my fucking period is something you all five probably have on your calendars. I don’t own a piece of lingerie one of you didn’t purchase for me. I don’t even have a vibrator.” Yeah, I just said that out loud.

She continued, not giving a fuck if someone else heard her. “So, don’t you waltz out here to tell me what to do. I’ve had enough. How dare you share what happened this morning with my brother. My brother.” Her voice rose again.
Jameson, Becca. Thrust (The Underground Book 5) (Kindle Locations 685-697). Hartwood Publishing. Kindle Edition.

While Alena may have given Ivan a chance, one he didn’t take full advantage of, now she’s done. Ivan has his work cut out for him in order to prove his feelings for her. Then there is his dominance, it’s more than just an attitude it’s his lifestyle.

In the meantime Anton’s henchmen are still trying to get their hands on Bethany or Alena. Bethany to keep her from reporting the story and Alena as bait to get one of the guys.

However, there’s some newcomers on the scene and when Alena is attacked in the clinic it adds a whole new level to the FBI’s investigation.

It’s like a game of Chess crossed with Who’s who as the guys try to keep their women safe and still continue to fight regularly.

Anton is turning up the heat, he needs the formula to work and he doesn’t have a lot of time to get the right antibodies into his system for the drug to adhere to.

Fast paced and full of twists and turns as the Russian FSB adds fuel to the fire. Alena’s introduction to Ivan’s brand of BDSM is sensual and erotic. Yet there is still so much going on.

Summer Blurb

Nikolav Andropov has just joined his friends in Chicago after years of fighting in the underground MMA circuit in Vegas. When he agrees to go babysit a woman with food poisoning in the middle of the night, he isn’t prepared for the punch to the gut the woman delivers. Even in her confused, nauseous state, she sends his libido through the roof.

Belinda Gallo is a reporter for Chicago’s largest multimedia news outlet. All she’s interested in is capturing the biggest story of her career for a one-hour primetime special—the murders of numerous local homeless people. She has no idea one of her good friends was also kidnapped and should have been among the dead. And she certainly isn’t prepared to meet five enormous sexy fighters, one of whom has proclaimed himself to be her protector.

Nikolav has perfected the art of brooding, reminding Belinda of a vampire. He’s nothing like any man she’s dated, but that doesn’t stop her from falling for him. The problem is, no matter how hard she tries to lure him into her bed, he isn’t taking the bait.

What the hell is wrong with him? Or is it her? In any case, while she tries to figure out what game he’s playing, the Russian Mafia is intent on stopping her from capturing her story. And they mean business.

If she wants to keep herself, her family, and her friends alive, she’s going to need to take drastic action. Will her decision destroy the tenuous relationship she’s formed with Nikolav? Or will it make them stronger?

Summer My Review

When she asked her friend Hailey to fix her up with one of the guys, the last thing Belinda expected was for the guy to show up while she is sick. Nikolav is sent by Mikael when their suspicions are raised. Why did Belinda get sick and not them. The possible answer is too frightening to expand on. Belinda is embarrassed and can’t figure out why Nikolav would even want to be around her after seeing her so sick.

Little does she know this is a big part of who he is. A Dominant who loves taking care of a submissive. But is Belinda a submissive, could she give that much trust to someone? Always fighting her way up she finally gets the story that can make a difference. The missing homeless that are turning up dead. Then the FBI puts a gag order on her and her boss.

Things get even more intense, with Anton putting the heat on his researchers and his moles in the FBI. With the heat on, Belinda is not safe, Anton doesn’t want the publicity her story could direct at him.

A page turner that keeps the suspense ramping up. The build up of emotions as Nikolav finds not only his perfect submissive but also love is sad yet funny. My only complaint is there was too much repetition from the end of Guard. I think it more of a summary would have worked better for me.

Read the excerpt below for one of my favorite scenes.
I can’t wait for Thrust the next one in this series coming October 6, 2016!

Summer Exerpt

From Becca Jameson’s Website
He didn’t hear her approach, and she found him standing at the window staring out between the blinds.Damn he was built. She didn’t move an inch, taking in the way his muscles bulged down his back, tapering to his waist. His biceps were huge. She wouldn’t be able to wrap both hands around them. She licked her lips.It felt like she’d known him much longer than two days, which was ludicrous considering she’d spent the first day sick and sleeping and the second day at work and running for her life. But, Lord, he had her attention every time they were in the same room. Her palms were sweating as she watched the ripples run down his back. If the situation were different… If she wasn’t the sort of person she was… If she could throw caution to the wind and be reckless… Oh yeah. She would sleep with this sexy vampire in a heartbeat. Not a doubt. As if suddenly sensing her presence, he released the blinds and turned around. “Hey, didn’t hear you,” he whispered. She stepped inside, shaking lustful thoughts from her head to find her brain. “I don’t want to kick you out of your bed.” It was true. She felt horrible about that. However, she also didn’t see a solution. It was hardly reasonable for her to go sleep with Sergei on the couch. Although, the sectional was huge. If she had one end and he had the other…“It’s no problem.”“It’s rude of me. I can seriously make do with anything. A blanket and a corner of that gigantic sofa will be fine.”

Nikolav chuckled. “Not a chance in hell, babe.” He stepped toward her. “If you thought your chastity was unsafe with me, you haven’t met Sergei.”

She flinched. “I’m pretty good at keeping my clothes on without any outside help.” And then she cringed. “Or I was until yesterday.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

She rolled her eyes. “Somehow I found myself dressed in the most ridiculous T-shirt and sweat pants. I know I didn’t put them on.” She felt a flush creep up her face as she verbalized her embarrassment.

Nikolav chuckled again. “Belinda, yes you did. Trust me, I wasn’t sure you were lucid enough to manage changing alone, but you did. Obviously you weren’t lucid enough to remember it, though. Yes, I went through your things to find you something to wear, but I left you in the bathroom to put them on. What you were wearing when I arrived needed to be burned.”

Now she was even more embarrassed. “Oh. Okay. Fine. Good. But still. I think I can handle myself around your friend. You act as if I’m unable to ward off random male advances.” In reality, she sort of was—at least when it came to Nikolav. If he stepped any closer, she might fling herself at him to see how his lips tasted and to feel his firm chest pressed against hers.

Hell, if he reached for her himself, she would be complete putty.

So maybe there was some merit to his concern, but not with regard to Sergei. Sure, the man was just as enormous and built and tall and sexy, but he didn’t do it for her like Nikolav did.

The broody vampire expression she often found on Nikolav’s face made her panties wet. In fact, she reached for her throat with one hand to rub her neck, shivering at the thought of his lips on her. She really needed to stop reading vampire novels or get her head examined.

But it was difficult to avoid thinking of him as some sort of night stalker since his looks epitomized every male bloodsucker in every novel she’d ever read.

“Nevertheless, I don’t leave women I care about alone with Sergei for one minute. The man’s a chick magnet. He can draw a woman into his web in seconds and eat her up and spit her out.” He turned toward his dresser and opened a drawer. When he spun around again, he held out a black T-shirt.

She was still reeling from his description of Sergei. Was Nikolav concerned for her well-being out of sheer politeness, or did he want her for himself?

“You want something to sleep in? Or you gonna stand there all night and argue with me about who gets the bed?” He stepped closer, lifting the T-shirt higher and shaking it out.

She glanced at the bed. It was king-sized. This entire argument was unnecessary. They were grown adults. They could both sleep in his bed without mauling each other. It wasn’t as if there was some reason to maintain some level of propriety. Who cared?

She took the shirt from him and pulled it toward her chest. On her next breath, she realized what a mistake it would be to put it on. It smelled exactly like him. Even though it was clean and folded in the drawer, it held his scent.

“I’ll let you get some sleep.” He started to squeeze past her where she still stood blocking the doorway.

“This is silly. We can both sleep in that bed. It’s large enough that we’ll each have our own zip code. Just give me a few minutes to change.”

He narrowed his gaze. “Not a good idea.”

“Why?”

“Because you’re sexy and feisty and smart, and you smell like a million bucks. All qualities that will make it impossible for me to keep my hands to myself.” He grinned.

“So you’re saying Sergei isn’t the only one who can’t keep it in his pants for more than a few seconds?” What the hell was making her tempt him like this? She needed to shut her mouth and stop pushing.

But it was too easy. And she stood taller after he presented her with all those characteristics, making her feel like she was the best catch on the planet. Did he truly see her that way?

He chuckled. “Woman…”

She set a hand on his rock-hard chest and pushed him out the door. “Give me five minutes.” Before he could speak again, she pushed the door closed, leaving him standing in the hall.

Before she could change her mind, she crossed the room, stripped out of her clothes, and put the T-shirt on. Dressed in nothing but her panties and the shirt that hung halfway down her thighs, she folded her clothes and set them on the desk chair.

And then she went back to open the door.

Nikolav was exiting the bathroom across the hall. His gaze met hers and then roamed down her body. He followed her back into the room and closed the door once more.

“Which side do you want me to take?”

He shook his head and smirked. “Any side you want,” he replied as if there were more than two options. “I won’t be in it with you.”

She set her hands on her hips. “Do you have some crazy notion that sleeping in the same room with me will somehow taint my reputation or give people the wrong idea? Because I’m thirty years old. And so are you. If I wanted to sleep with you—have sex, I mean—I would do so with no regrets. Don’t tell me you’ve never slept with a woman you just met.” No way would she believe that. Every time Nikolav left the house, he undoubtedly had women vying for his attention.

He lifted a brow and crossed his arms, his legs spread and feet planted. “You telling me you frequently sleep with men you’ve just met?”

She hesitated. She should lie. But it wasn’t in her nature. “No. But that’s not the point. I could if I wanted to.”

“Do you?”

Hell yes. “Do you?”

He rubbed his head and turned around to face the wall. “Woman, you’re making my brain hurt.” He pointed behind him toward the bed. “Get in. If I argue with you about this any longer, I’m going to get a headache.”

She scrambled onto the closest side of the bed, next to the door, and pulled the covers over her chest. His comforter was a fluffy chocolate brown, and the sheets matched.

Nikolav blew out a breath, turned around, and headed for the other side of the bed. Her breath caught when he tugged his shirt over his head and dropped it on the floor.

She only had a moment to examine the tattoo reaching across one shoulder and down his arm. But she caught some sort of wings. He turned out the light on the bedside table and then tugged off his jeans, letting them fall on the floor. Enough light showed through the sides of the blinds to illuminate him.

Wearing nothing but boxer briefs, he slid into his side of the bed flat on his back.

Belinda’s adrenaline was still pumping through her veins from the busy day, the chase through the Chicago streets, and hours of perfecting her notes for Chicago Multimedia. There was no way she could possibly sleep anytime soon, but she needed to at least lie still so Nikolav could sleep.

Every breath made her slowly regret her decision to share this bed, this room, or even this apartment. Everything smelled like him. His T-shirt, his sheets, the pillow, the air in the room…

Masculine with the faint scent of whatever soap he used. Visions of crossing into his time zone on the other side of the enormous bed and snuggling into his side made her mouth water.

She would never be able to sleep.

“You’re breathing like you just ran a fast mile,” he muttered.

“I’m pretty sure that’s your fault.” It totally was. He managed to keep her off-kilter constantly, whether intentional or not.

He groaned, turning onto his side to face away from her and punching his pillow into submission.

“Look, I’m sorry, but I feel like I’ve been picked up by a tornado and dumped in another dimension. First food poisoning. Then a long day of work. Then masked gunmen chasing me through Chicago after attempting to blow me to pieces with an explosion. Then I meet with the FBI. The FBI? Whoever meets with the FBI? And then I have to put any normal response to too much stimuli aside and work in the middle of the night.

“On top of all that, a gigantic, brooding, bossy vampire is following me around, and I have no idea what intentions he has concerning me.

“So, yeah. I’m struggling to catch my breath, and I won’t be able to fall asleep for hours. I offered to sleep in another room or even the floor. I have nothing of my own with me but the clothes on my back. I met the man in the bed next to me yesterday while I was leaning over the toilet, and there are three other people in the apartment I met briefly.

“I have no idea what I’m supposed to do tomorrow. I have a job to do that’s suddenly limited by the FBI, and chances are I’m going to have a battle on my hands the first time I mention going to work. I—”

Haley Sullivan has been through hell and back. Mistaken for homeless, she was snatched off the street by the Russian Mafia and injected with an unknown substance for two weeks. Confused and scared out of her mind, she manages to get her hands on a gun and shoots randomly at a group of men, hoping to escape.

With Mikhail Dudko has followed two Russian idiots who work for the Mafia after a strange ransom exchange. After a shootout that leaves the two mobsters dead—along with the owner of the house—he’s shocked to find the initial shooter to be a frightened, drugged, redheaded woman who takes his breath away in an instant.

But Haley’s saga has just begun. The Russian Mafia wants her back. And Mikhail finds himself glued to her side twenty-four-seven in an effort to protect her. As he falls harder for her every day, he realizes she’s everything he could ever ask for in a woman: gorgeous, kindhearted, and…submissive.

Haley has a lot to work through. The last thing she needs is a man breathing down her back night and day. An enormous man who fights mixed martial arts for an underground Mafia ring and spends the rest of his time bossing her around in a way that makes her heart beat rapidly and her toes curl under just looking at him.

Has she changed? Or did she always have a latent need to be dominated in her blood?

This tale just keeps getting better and better. Each book unveils a new aspect of our main mystery. That mystery, what is Anton Yenin cooking up in his labs and how soon can the FBI put him out of business?

We start this installment right where we left off, after Haley is rescued from the clutches of Dr. Ted Christianson. Mikhail hasn’t left her. Providing her with safety and security on the inside of her apartment while the FBI is outside. From the moment he carried her from the doctor’s house Mikhail has been fighting his feelings. He wants her but he is a dominant and needs a submissive. Every instinct he has says she is submissive, but would she be willing to try? Slow is the key here, maybe…

As their attraction grows so does the danger as Anton Yenin moves forward with his plans. Now even the FBI is suspect as the tension rises.

Hot Russian MMA fighters and the strong women who come to love them. Sizzling hot scenes, lots of suspense and hold your breath action.

Read the excerpt below for one of my favorite scenes. I can’t wait to read the next one in this series Submit, which is waiting on my kindle now.

“Why do you do it?” she mumbled.“Do what?” His hand threaded deeper into her hair, forcing her face closer to his. Another few inches and she could get her wish to taste those luscious lips.“Stay here. With me,” she whispered. Why was she lying halfway on this man in nothing but a thin, tight camisole? Insanity was taking over.

“Because you don’t want to go to a safe house, and my apartment is crowded?” He smiled through his logic.

She stared at his lips as a smile spread. Her heart beat faster. She licked her own lips, her mouth suddenly dry.

Silence. Long moments of nothing but her heart rate pounding in her ears. She couldn’t remove her gaze from his mouth.

And then his hand flattened on the back of her head and he pressed gently. “Kiss me.” His voice was ragged. Deeper. Hoarse. He inhaled slowly, not pressing harder. Waiting.

She couldn’t move. She wanted those lips on her so badly. But should she? Weren’t they crossing into dangerous territory if she did so?

“Mikhail…” His name rolled off her tongue. So what if she threw caution to the wind and kissed this gorgeous man who was staying in her apartment? “I don’t want to make things awkward between us,” she told his lips.

“They don’t have to be awkward.”

“But we’re…”

“We’re what? We met. We have a connection. We’re permitted to act on it. There’s no law that says otherwise.”

She wiggled out of his grip and hauled herself to sitting next to him. “There’s the fact that I need you. I don’t want to ruin our friendship because I don’t think I can stay here alone right now.” She crossed her legs and fumbled with her fingers in her lap. “I’m not being fair at all. I know that. But you make me safe. My world’s upside down, and the only times I feel normal are when you’re close. It’s not rational.”

He stroked his hand down her arm and cupped her elbow. “Not everything has to be rational. It just is. There’s a chemistry between us, and you know it. I’ve done my best to keep my distance, let you clear your brain of all the drugs, give you time to put your head on straight.

“But it’s been almost three weeks. I’m not going to lie and say I haven’t been attracted to you from the moment I saw you. I’ve tried to talk myself out of it, but every time I lose.”

She watched his face closely. He was dead serious. And his voice… Damn his voice. His Russian accent tingled down her spine every time he spoke. But right now… His hoarse deep timbre… God…

“You’re so gorgeous.” He touched her hair again. “I love these curls. I love your porcelain skin. I love the way you cross your feet under you nearly every time you sit anywhere. When you laugh, it lights up your face. When you cry, it burns in my chest.” He rubbed a hand between his pecs.

She stopped breathing. Was it possible he was as attracted to her as she was to him?

“If you don’t feel the same, just say so, and I won’t ever mention it again.”

Seconds ticked by again. She slowly lifted her gaze to his face, seeing the vulnerability there. The man laid all the cards down. Without hesitating another moment, she lurched forward and set her mouth on his. She intended to keep it simple, express her agreement with her lips, but that’s not how it went.

As soon as she felt his warm full soft lips, she angled to one side and pressed harder, deepening the kiss. She’d never in her life been this brazen.

But then again, a sexy Russian fighter had never slept for three weeks on her couch.

His lips were everything she imagined and more. Soft. Delicious. And Lord the man knew how to use them.

When she licked the seam between them to tease him with her tongue, her world flipped upside down.

Literally.

He grabbed her shoulders and switched positions with her so she was flat on her back and he hovered over her. Except he didn’t hover. Not at all.

He never broke the kiss. He thrust his tongue into her mouth and devoured her, one hand cupping her face with fingers so broad they extended from the back of her head, over her cheek, and down her neck. His palm rested on her shoulder.

When she moaned into his mouth, he tossed one leg over hers, nudging her knees apart to situate his thigh between them.

She grabbed his forearm with one hand and cupped the back of his head with the other. Holy smokes. Her arousal shot through the roof. Brain cells leaked out onto the pillow. Every inhale filled her senses with more of him. Every swipe of her tongue filled her with his taste.

She molded her hands to his head and forearm, learning his feel. He was rock solid, and she loved it. She smoothed her hand down from his head to his neck and then his back. Every inch of him. Tight bundles of bulging muscles.

He eased his hand down from her face to her torso, spreading his fingers out until they stretched around to her back and down toward her belly. His thumb grazed the edge of her breast and made her arch into him.

He kept kissing her.

She never wanted him to stop.

A fire she hadn’t known existed lit inside her, warming her everywhere. She couldn’t stay still. She needed to move. Touch him everywhere. And she let her hands roam all over his back and down to his ass. So bold. The tight muscles of his butt made her even hotter.

Her nipples pressed against the cotton, abrading them. She wiggled her hips as her pussy came alive as if it had been in hibernation just waiting for the right person to come along and bring it back to life. Wetness leaked into her panties and probably through to her PJs.

She lifted her hips involuntarily, craving the friction against his thigh.

He obliged by pushing his knee up higher and thrusting it against her sex.

Oh. God.

She couldn’t breathe. So much sensation all at once firing from everywhere. She grabbed his shoulders finally and pushed, trying to break the contact. Her body was on overload, every synapse firing at once. No room to think.

Mikhail broke the kiss when she shoved on his chest. His breathing was heavy and erratic. He set his forehead against hers as he caught his breath. His thumb stroked over the curve of her breast.

Suddenly she was self-conscious. This man was a god. His body was a vessel of perfection. She was a skinny redhead with nowhere close to the same level of experience as he clearly had.

After all, he’d managed to scramble her mind in seconds.

“Mikhail…” His name rolled off her tongue so easily. Like honey. And she licked her lips as soon as she spoke. They were swollen. Wet from his kiss.

“Stop squirming, baby. Please.” He closed his eyes, but his mouth curved into a grin.

She froze, not realizing she was still rubbing herself against his bare thigh. The man wore nothing but boxers. “Sorry.” The word came out as a squeak. What was wrong with her?

His eyes popped open. “Don’t be. God, never be sorry for the way you feel. Especially if it’s hot and needy. It’s just that you’re making it difficult for me to be a gentleman here.”

His thumb. God, that thumb. He was driving her mad stroking it across the swollen globe. Every time she breathed, her chest rose up into his thumb tighter.

She opened her mouth, though she didn’t have any idea how to respond. Her face heated. There would be red splotches everywhere, even down her chest and across her breasts. She’d never been able to control that reaction to embarrassment.

Mikhail set a finger on her lips. “Shh. I can see the arguments running around in your head. Stop. Just let yourself feel.”

“I don’t…” she muttered against his finger.

He pressed harder. “I know.”
