Sleeper SEALS: Slow Ride by Becky McGraw

The Sleeper SEALs, are former U.S. Navy SEALs recruited by a new CIA counter-terror division to handle solo dark ops missions to combat terrorism on U.S. soil.

Each book in this multi-author branded series is a standalone novel, and the series does not have to be read in order. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Lt. Commander Keegan MacDonald has to face the fact his injury meant he was washed up as a SEAL, but who was he without the teams as part of his life? Even though he loved bikes, being a grease monkey at his uncle’s motorcycle shop sure wasn’t providing that answer.

When he gets a call for a special mission from the commander of a spec ops government contractor group, Keegan grabs onto the lifeline with both hands. Not only would he be helping find an intel leak which could jeopardize his teammates in the field, he might be able to find his own purpose during the mission too.

Keegan goes undercover at the Lily Pad, an off-base strip club where the government believes the special access intel is being passed, and quickly narrows down his suspects. The list includes Jules Lawson, a sexy, mouthy waitress who seems to have a hidden agenda.

When that agenda meshes with his own, and he finds out they are on the same team, but at opposite ends of the field, can they put together a partnership? Or will her inexperience and thirst for vengeance get them both killed?

Better yet, when the mission creeps into something much bigger than an intel leak, could he count on the beautiful agent to have his six while they saved the world? Or would she redefine his world in the process?

review-fall-cornucopia

I am loving this new Kindle world! SEALs everywhere! In this one we pit our hero Keegan against what might be one of his own. As with most organizations, there has been a lack of communication and he finds that the waitress where he’s gone under cover has more skills than the normal everyday worker.

Jules on the other hand has much to prove. She joined the FBI after she lost her parents to the attack on 9/11. Now she wants to be a member of their counter-terrorism unit.

So far she hasn’t been successful, and having Keegan show up just pisses her off. Here is a favorite scene after their first shift together and Keegan finds out she’s a Fed.

“You’re not a good liar, Agent Lawson, but I’m glad we’re on the same team. Taking you off of my suspect list will make things easier.”

Blinding anger and knee-melting relief fought for pole position inside her as she released her pistol and zipped up her bag. She leaned over his plate to put her nose near his.

Your suspect list? This is my investigation, asshole. Just stand down and stay out of my way. Tell whoever you work for that I have this under control.” Her blinding anger now included her new boss for not letting her know another agent was being sent in.

“If you haven’t closed your investigation in three months, Natasha, the odds are you won’t. That’s probably why God sent me here,” he said, giving her a cocky grin that turned her on and pissed her off at the same time.

Now, he was making fun of her? Comparing her to a cartoon secret agent? And God? He really did think a lot of himself.

“You aren’t as badass as you seem to think you are, Boris. I had you pegged as some kind of operator when you walked through the door at the bar.” She stood to cross her arms over her chest. “Your little show to get hired didn’t impress or fool me one bit,” she said, although now, it really did, even though she didn’t want it to.

“I saved you from being mauled by a drunk—so you should be thanking me,” he said, picking up his fork.

“If you didn’t notice, I don’t need your help. I had things in hand,” she shot back, jerking her bag up to put the strap on her shoulder.

“No, it looked to me like the drunk had things firmly in hand, Natasha.” He winked at her before he shoveled a forkful of scrambled eggs into his mouth and she ground her teeth.

“Enjoy your breakfast, MacDonald. I hope you choke,” she hissed.

“Good luck with your research, Lawson. Maybe we can compare notes tomorrow night to see who gets more info.” The corner of his mouth curled and the bastard winked at her again, before he took a big bite out of his toast.

Jules left her breakfast behind to go home and text Brand to find out exactly who this asshole was and what he was doing in the middle of her investigation.
McGraw, Becky. Slow Ride: Sleeper SEALs Book 2 (Kindle Locations 728-752). Kindle Edition.

There are a lot of twists and turns as Jules and Keegan work their way through the suspects. Snark becomes intimate in spite of them trying not to get involved with each other. A fast, fun, sizzling hot, action filled read!

Doctor returns to hometown when mother takes a fall and falls harder for new town Sheriff…her first love.

Review Spring Blog - Copy

When her mother has an accident, Dr Melanie Fox returns to her hometown. Her first meeting with the Sheriff starts off pretty harsh on both sides. She is about to receive several tickets when the Sheriff is distracted by his ex pulling up. That brief encounter sets Melanie off on a quest to find the reasons for the child’s illness.

Brock is puzzled by the fact that no one seems to be able to figure out why his son Brady is so sick. The medical bills are killing him. His son’s mother just keeps taking him to doctor after doctor and there is seemly no end in sight.

This is a look at when Brock decides he’s had enough.
Brock ground his teeth as the stupid vision that had haunted him all fucking night reappeared. He couldn’t ignore it anymore. That’s exactly where he was going right now— to Merry Fox’s house to ask Melanie to help him.

“Better yet, let’s get you dressed, Brady— I’m taking you to see a doctor.”

“What doctor?” Lucy asked, her eyes narrowed.

“Melanie Fox,” he replied, tossing the clothes to Brady. “Put those on.”

“Hooty?” she asked, shaking her head. “She’s in California, isn’t she?”

“She’s back in town to take care of her mother and aunt. That woman I stopped at the diner yesterday was Melanie Fox.” Brock scanned the floor and found Brady’s tennis shoes at the end of the bed, then helped him sit on the bed and put them on.

“That was Hooty?” she asked, her voice shocked. “Good gawd, she must’ve had an entire body lift done in California. She needed one.” The nasty snigger that punctuated her words raked over every nerve in his body.

“Yeah, she looks damned good, doesn’t she?” Brock asked, and enjoyed seeing the smile wilt from Lucy’s face. “She’s also a doctor now, so I guarantee she’s smart enough to figure out what’s wrong with him, or find me a doctor who can.”

Lucy’s indignant gasp was music to his ears as he tied Brady’s shoes. When he finished, he looked at Lucy and she wore a worried, sour expression, which he knew wasn’t because Brady was sick and that pissed him off. She’d become more and more blasé about their son’s illness over the last year. That expression was solely because she now saw Melanie as competition.
Cowboy Justice 12-Pack (Kindle Locations 4040-4053). . Kindle Edition.

I really felt sorry for Melanie, her mother and her Aunt were truly out of control. Worse though is Lucy, Brady’s mother and Brock’s ex-girlfriend. I loved the father/son relationship and how nicely Melanie fit in. A nice example that the past doesn’t have to rule the future.

A gripping story that brings to light a disease that is not common. It also brings home the fact that sometimes too much of a good thing can be bad.

Hell Bent
Deep Six Security #3
by
Becky McGraw
Released January 26, 2016

Winter Blog Blurb

When you leave home to find yourself, sometimes the best place to look first is there…

Former Delta Force Operator turned CIA Ghost Ops Operative Cade Winters has been dodging his dysfunctional family for years. He isn’t supposed to have a family, it’s too dangerous, but Cade can’t let go of the only person he gives a shit about, his sister Veronica. When he makes his yearly call to her and finds out she’s receiving death threats from a homegrown terrorist group, Cade knows he has no choice but to go back to Texas to make sure she’s safe.

Fresh out of a six-year hitch in the Army, Cee Cee Logan thinks she’s finally earned her brother David’s respect when he finally offers her a job with his security firm. She quickly sees that isn’t the case when the job she’s hired for turns out to be that of the team secretary, a nice safe, desk job like he told her to get when she graduated college. Cecelia is frustrated, but takes the position because she is determined to prove to her chauvinistic and overprotective sibling once and for all she’s capable of so much more.

By the end of the first week, Cee Cee wishes she’d have just re-enlisted. Her body is stiff from sitting, her fingers sore and her mind numb, but what really makes her want to run back to Afghanistan where she would at least be respected by her colleagues is the company’s other new hire. Cade Winters, her ex-lover, is back in town and the hardhearted, hard-bodied operator is a man she definitely doesn’t know anymore.

When a trafficked woman’s repatriation clinic is bombed, and Cade’s sister Veronica, a judge, is in grave danger, Cecelia is presented with her opportunity to prove herself as an agent. But the question was, did she want it? Could she trust her partner to have her back when he seemed to be on a mission of his own to make her look bad every chance he got?

18+ Excerpt from HELL BENT: Deep Six Security Book 3 (c) Becky McGraw, January 2016

“If you’d have talked to me before you lef—“ he started, but her sharp bark of laughter cut him off and he shot her a hot glare.

“I did come to talk to you but figured you weren’t much into talking or listening to anything I had to say with that brunette’s lips wrapped around your dick,” Cee Cee snarled, a brow lifted over her angry, hurt eyes.

A shock of electricity shot through his body to boil his blood which crept up to the base of his throat as memories of that night, the last time he’d seen her, flashed through his mind. He cringed, and his hands tightened on the steering wheel.

That night he’d been as cruel as he could be to her because he wanted to hurt her as much as she’d hurt him. Cade wanted to show her she didn’t mean an iota more to him than she’d proven he meant to her by leaving him dangling on a limb without an explanation or excuse for two fucking weeks. That she showed up on the night before the morning he knew she was leaving for boot camp, the absolute worst night of his life, made things worse. He couldn’t be held responsible for his actions or reactions that night.

“You broke into my apartment, and I was drunk,” he said defensively. And in so much fucking pain, neither the alcohol nor the hot, nameless woman sucking my dick could make it better.

“I didn’t break in, I had a key, remember? And thank God you were drunk enough to finally tell me how you really felt about me. You saved me a lot of future complications.” Her harsh laugh rang hollowly inside his skull. “It was a hard and painful lesson, but totally worth it. I learned not to trust a man with anything more than my body, or expect anything from him in return for a good fuck. Because I went in with that attitude, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to learn you were right—I am a damned good fuck—and the act is a lot more fun when satisfaction is all you expect in return. Sure makes things less messy in the morning, doesn’t it?”

Cade didn’t know what to say as his eyes flew to hers. The vulgarity falling from her soft lips made him want to wash her mouth out with soap for some reason. Blood crept up his face to set his scalp on fire, as the hard little smile that curved the corner her mouth, the knowing look in her eyes caused a tight band of regret to constrict his chest.

He had done this to her, turned her into this kind of woman. His hasty, drunken, and yes immature, words meant to hurt her had done so much more. They turned a soft-hearted girl into a one-night-stand kind of woman like the brunette.

Were you really naïve enough to believe I wanted more than a fuck, Brat? You were a good fuck to me, Cecelia, nothing more. Wise up about men—we’re only looking for one thing and you’re keeping me from getting that right now. Go away, little girl, I’m busy.

Pressure built in his skull and his breaths came hard and fast as he studied her, tried to find that girl he used to know somewhere in her eyes but failed. Cecelia’s chin lifted a notch as her arms tightened around her middle, before she leaned back against the seat and looked out the side window.

“You’re better than that, Brat.” God, so much better, and guilt for his hand in turning her into what she’d become closed off his throat, so his words were choked. “You may have gotten confidence in the military, but you sure lost any delicacy you may have possessed before, and that’s a damned shame.”

“No, I’m not delicate in the least anymore. You toughened me right up.” She looked at him with a lifted brow and a smirk curving one corner of her mouth. “I’ve become a woman not to be messed with and I thank you for starting that transformation, Cade.”

Winter Blog Review

Once again Becky McGraw has taken a topic that is very hard to think about, and turned it into a page turning novel of strength and courage.

At first glance one might want to blame Cee Cee for the way she is being treated at Deep Six Security. However as this tale unfurls I found she is not the only one with childish notions. Cade, Dave and the rest of the crew all need to realize she is a grown-up, with military training.

With threats against his sister Veronica and the repatriation shelter she runs that houses women rescued from a trafficking ring; Cade has no choice but to protect her. Things get more complicated when they realize that not only are the threats coming from a homegrown terrorist group, but also the cartel wanting their property back.

In the middle of all that, Cee Cee and Cade have to deal with their own attraction. This relationship once in the past needs major evaluation now. One thing is for sure, the sex is spectacular, but there needs to be more for both of them.

The action doesn’t stop in this one, bombings, kidnapping, paternity and more. Be it the investigations, or the bedroom, you won’t be able to put this book down until the last page is done.

Christmas 2015 Blog Review

Let’s take a trip, this time to a ranch in Texas. I love how Becky puts us right into the feel of ranch life. As you read you can smell the hay and other things. But mostly the sweet, fresh country air.

Cole and Hope have last ditch jobs at the Mall, as Santa and his photographer elf. However her first day becomes their last when a screaming child’s antics pushes Cole beyond his limits.

Cole fires his agent, who is faithful to the client who has now blackballed Cole’s modeling career and decides to tuck tail and return home where he belongs.

Hope lost everything, her best friend, her fiancé, her inheritance and her family when her camera malfunctioned at a socialite’s wedding. This job was to pay her rent, now she’s lost that too. Then she comes up with an idea that would save her career, boost her friend Tina’s company and launch Cole’s career again if he chooses.

Cole’s father is sick, the ranch falling apart, his brother distant from his son, and Cole’s return is like a slap in the face. Hope’s idea falls to the wayside, but she offers up another way to make everything right for her, Cole and his family.

The only thing they don’t see coming is the love that sneaks up on them.

A story of family and hardship and the love that binds them whether they like it or not.

The Cowboy Way is one of my favorite series and this is the beginning.

My Review of Sealed Fate – By Becky McGraw – A Kindle Worlds Hot SEALs Novella

Sealed Fate Cover

SEALed Fate
(Deep Six Security Book 0)
by Becky McGraw
Publisher: Kindle Worlds August 2, 2015

SummerBlog Blurb

Former Navy SEAL Jaxson Thomas left the teams in disgrace to save his squad from being dragged through the mud with a JAG investigation. He never thought he’d have to leave the civilian job he got after the teams in the same way, but that’s exactly what happened. To keep his friends at Deep Six Security from losing their biggest contract, he takes the blame for an assignment gone bad. The SEAL mentality drilled into him for years won’t let Jaxson give up though, so he goes to work for Guardian Angel Protective Services, a new security firm started by his former SEAL teammates, hoping yesterday would be his last bad day.

His first GAPS assignment tells him more bad days are coming however, when he is charged with protecting the woman directly responsible for his exit from the teams. Frumpy Fallon Sharpe is now a federal judge, and the big-mouthed redhead has taken on an East Coast mafia family who wants her dead. She will only accept a SEAL to protect her and his new boss insists that he’s the man for the job, but Jaxson isn’t so sure since he’d been dreaming of killing her himself for five years.

He takes the job, because he has no choice, but the last thing Jax expects to feel for Fallon Sharpe when he sees her again is attraction. Even though her waspish mouth is the same, the thick glasses and frizzy red hair are gone and those damned spindly legs that reminded him of a flamingo before have toned up and end somewhere near her ears now.

Dealing with his old hatred and this new attraction while trying to protect her was going to make the assignment the perfect storm that could lead to a Charlie Tango Foxtrot of epic proportions if Jax wasn’t careful. Maybe the last one of his life.

SummerBlog My Review

This book was a gift from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Jax definitely has his hands full trying to protect Judge Fallon Sharpe. Aside from the obvious hit men from the mob, there are other things that threaten the two of them. One of which is a hit squad sent by an Arab prince to do away with him. Not to mention the attraction Jax has for Fallon, in spite of all that has transpired previously.

I would say Fallon was having a very bad day when first the mob attempts the hit and then a much more profession version tries while they are traveling to the safe house. All this on top of telling Jax she knows he wasn’t guilty of the charges that led to his discharge.

The action and suspense is top notch. The arguments explosive and sometimes funny topped off with sizzling sex.

I just couldn’t stop reading until I came to the very end. I hope we see more of Jax, Fallon and the rest of the gang in future books.

I can’t wait for the next installment in the Deep Six Security series!

TILL DEATH (#1, Logan’s Lonestar Heroes)

Blurb:

Dave Logan, owner of Deep Six Security, is stunned when former Dallas FBI head, Susan Whitmore, darkens his doorstep accusing him of being the cause of her losing her job. After hearing her situation, Dave feels something he never expects to feel–sorry for her. But he also knows any problems she had at the agency were all her own fault. The woman has a tongue so sharp it could rip a man to shreds, and had many times. There was a reason her agents dubbed her the Barracuda.

Although Dave needs agents in the worst way, and Susan, with an IQ higher than Einstein, better skills and more experience than any of his men, along with a master’s degree in criminal justice, is more than qualified to be a member of his team, he just doesn’t need the drama she and her mouth would bring to Deep Six . Even as his brain said no way though, his damned white-knight complex forces him to offer her a job as his temporary secretary.

Realizing he’s made a huge mistake hiring her, Dave calls in favors to get her interviews to get her out of his office. Before he can get rid of her though, Dave gets a new case only Susan can help him with. A wealthy Dallas oilman and his trophy wife ordered a designer baby from a local fertility clinic, and the surrogate has gone missing with the baby. The couple wants Deep Six Security to investigate the facility and find the baby, but the only way Dave can do that is to get inside. To get inside his only option is to go undercover with Susan, posing as a wealthy married couple looking for a baby. What they find when they get to the spa-like compound is frightening. Payoffs, missing surrogates and young women being used as lab rats are just the tip of the iceberg.

Can two alpha personalities, both used to being in charge, work together long enough to figure out what’s going on at the clinic, or will they kill each other before the bad guys at the facility have a chance? If they’re lucky, perhaps the delicious friction between them will turn into something so hot the place spontaneously combusts. Or if they’re luckier, maybe it will turn into something which might just last till death do them part.

My Review:

This first book in the Logan’s Lonestar Heroes grabbed my attention on the first page and didn’t let it go.  The rapport between Dave Logan and his staff is perfect with snipe, innuendo, and truths that sometimes hurt.

When I realized Dave was going to hire Susan Whitmore, I just shook my head and thought, he’s doomed..

There are several levels to the case they are working on. Dave has to make some decisions his crew is not totally down with, but go along because he is the boss.  Susan and Dave go undercover to for this case and when they come together, FIREWORKS! In more ways than one.

I would normally add my favorite passage here but you can read the whole thing below in the excerpt.

Five contented PURRS for this Book.

Becky McGraw I can’t wait for the next one!

Keep reading after the excerpt for a Bonus scene not in the book!

18+ HOT EXCERPT, TILL DEATH (#1, Logan’s Lonestar Heroes)

Excerpt from TILL DEATH (#1, Logan’s Heroes) (c) Becky McGraw, 2014, all rights reserved.

Dave huffed a breath too as he followed Mac out of the conference room. Yes, the sooner he got Susan out of his office the better. He had been avoiding her like the plague, hadn’t seen her since their confrontation over the popsicles, but he knew now his luck was running out.

Against all odds, his men were becoming attached to her and she was obviously encouraging it. The last thing he needed in this office was friction or drama, and he could see it coming with the new Susan Whitmore fan club. Dave just needed her gone, before she embedded herself into his group and removing her would be like extracting a cactus spine.

Just as he rounded the corner into the outer office, Susan walked out of the kitchen toward him. She was sucking on something, but it didn’t look like a popsicle. When she got closer he realized it was some kind of candy. It was also the first time he’d seen her that day, or any day since the day he told her to lose the baggy suits.

Her new uniform of choice was skin tight yoga pants and a tank top. No wonder his men were gaga. Dave just barely kept his own tongue from flapping out of his mouth, as his eyes ticked over her full breasts and down her mile-long, muscular legs to her toes while she walked over to her desk. Dave knew Susan was athletic, and over the years he’d often wondered what her body looked like under those baggy black suits. Well he didn’t have to wonder anymore. Every square inch of her tight body was right there for him to see. There was absolutely nothing left to his imagination. Good God—she was built like a brick shithouse. His body quickly registered that fact too.

Susan paused at her desk and held his eyes as she slowly slid the white stick out of her mouth until a round, pink ball appeared. She stopped to twirl the candy between her lips, which made matters much, much worse. As she pulled the candy from her mouth, it made a sucking, popping noise and Dave bit back a groan.

Susan’s eyebrow lifted, and she smiled. Waving the candy at him, she said breezily, in that husky voice of hers, “Howdy, stranger. Did I catch you before you scurried into your office like a cockroach? Or did you need something?”

Now, that was definitely a loaded question, Dave thought, as he stood there staring at her breasts. He couldn’t help himself from giving his imagination free rein. Unless she was a mind reader, it wouldn’t hurt, and he didn’t think her super brain had given her that superpower. If it had, he was probably a dead man, because with her standing right there in front of him, he imagined her throaty, raspy voice would sound just that way when she moaned as he lifted her hips and shoved his aching cock inside of her body. Her body would make that delicious sucking, popping noise she’d made with the candy when he pulled back out. He’d fuck her slowly, torture her until she begged him to make her come. His name would be a hoarse, almost soundless, whisper on her full
lips when he finally gave her what she asked for. Her body would clutch his dick, squeeze it like a vise, pulling him further inside of her with every pulsation of her orgasm, until he came too. Dave would fuck her all night long in every position he could think of, and some that had yet to be invented. She would have to beg him for a few minutes to catch her breath in that same raspy voice.

If given the chance, Dave would spend all night long, hell a week, giving her exactly what she was asking for by wearing those clothes, sucking that damned candy, and using that breathy whisper. At that second, he wanted that more than he wanted his next breath.

As much fire as this woman had inside of her, he imagined she would be a freak between the sheets. He wanted to meet that freak and teach her a lesson about teasing a man. Tie that freak to his bed and keep her there until he worked her out of his system.

Dave’s chin dropped to his chest, a groan rumbled in his chest and his breathing hitched, as his cock went rock solid behind his fly. He was surprised when he felt a finger under his chin right before it was tipped upward. His eyes met Susan’s curious blue stare and the spell was broken.

“You okay, boss man? You look a little…flushed,” she purred.

With a smug grin, she held his gaze and lifted the candy ball, stuck out her tongue and curled it to twirl the candy in the well, then flicked her tongue over it making little mewling noises in her throat. When she added slow flirtatious sweeps of her eyelashes over her big blue eyes, Dave knew for sure she was playing him, and he wasn’t amused.

She’s a very smart woman.

Evidently more than smart enough to figure out that his problem with her eating the popsicles was about a lot more than a drip trail in the kitchen. And he was almost certain now that the skin-tight yoga suits weren’t about comfort. This was her bid to pay Dave back for his baggy suit comment. Mind games to teach him a lesson.

Because Susan Whitmore thought she was smarter than him.

She would be the one learning a lesson today. About him. “I need to see you in my office, now,” Dave growled as he turned to stomp toward his office

Dave Logan, former recon marine and ex-cop is a man who lived inside the box of government restrictions and red tape for many years. When he had enough of seeing criminals and corruption continue despite his best efforts because of that red tape, he decided to do something about it. He assembled a group of
likeminded men with unique skill sets, cowboys of a different sort, to combat crime in the new wild, wild west.Deep Six Security exists to fill the gap between the right and wrong side of the law. The men of Deep Six operate just beyond the box. They are willing to do what it takes to keep their home state safe. They are patriots, rebels and most importantly renegades. They are as different as night and day, but they have one thing in common, their love of
God, country and the great state of Texas.

If the six pack doesn’t work, there’s always a shotgun and a shovel…

The couple wants Deep Six Security to investigate the facility and find the baby, but the only
way Dave can do that is to get inside.

Spotlight with GiveAway and Review For Becky Mc Graw’s Borrowing Trouble

Borrowing Trouble (#12, Texas Trouble)
Carrie Collins has been trying to hold it together for three years, since her husband Sean was killed in the line of duty during an undercover drug operation gone bad. If that and the mountain of bills she was left with weren’t bad enough, her son becomes mixed up with the wrong crowd at school. Carrie feels like a failure as a mother, and does the only thing she can think of to fix things, she goes back to her parent’s ranch.
Her dead husband’s best friend, the man accused, but later exonerated of, Sean’s murder shows up at the ranch with his new wife and offers her a break from the kids and the craziness of her life. Carrie is reluctant to accept, but he won’t take no for an answer. She goes to the R & R Ranch, but doesn’t find relaxation there. What she finds is a tall, charismatic ex-rodeo cowboy who not only ties her emotions in more knots than his lasso, he wakes up her dormant libido.
Carrie fights the attraction, because the last thing she needs is a man like Dylan Thomas in her life, a tumbleweed kind of guy who tells her in no uncertain terms he isn’t looking for a relationship. She knows her kids deserve better and so does she. Her kids aren’t there though, and the temporary fantasy he represents becomes too much to resist.
Dylan Thomas wants nothing more than to return to competitive bull riding after an almost career-ending injury landed him at the R & R Ranch teaching rich greenhorns to ride bulls. A year and a half of catering to those wealthy snobs has him bored and restless, until a curvy brunette convinces him it might not be so bad to hang around for a little while longer.
Carrie Collins takes hard to get to an olympic-class level though, and it takes everything in Dylan’s bag of tricks to get close to her. When things finally heat up between them, he finds out there are a couple of things she hasn’t told him about. Like the two kids she has who show up at the ranch, and the job she has accepted there.
His temporary fling with the cute ranch guest suddenly gets a lot more complicated and permanent. Especially when former associates of her son turn up at the ranch demanding money she doesn’t have. Dylan knows then he’s borrowed a helluva lot of trouble he didn’t need in his life by getting involved with her, but when the opportunity to leave presents itself, how can he leave her in danger?

Excerpt 18+
Ready or not, Dylan didn’t leave or back off. His heat surrounded her, as his body crowded her from behind. His fingers brushed her skin as he pushed her hair aside to lean over her shoulder. He stuck his nose into the crook of her neck and inhaled deeply, then hovered here a moment with his hot breath tickling the shell of her ear. The richer, deeper timber of his voice vibrated through her, as he finally asked, “You like to bake. Is that why you smell like sugar cookies?” Electricity zipped down her spine when his lips touched down briefly on a spot right behind her ear. Carrie shivered and he laughed.
“Or do you just wear the dough behind your ear to tease me, because you know I have a weakness for sugar cookies?” After a final flick of his hot, wet tongue, he moved away. Cool air hit the wet imprint left by his mouth, and Carrie shivered. Her nails curled into her palms, and she sucked in a breath when they scraped her burn. The spatula clattered to the stove, and she sucked the fleshy pad at the side of her palm into her mouth.
Dylan grabbed her hand to inspect it. “Did you burn yourself?” he asked with concern. “We need to take you to the med shack and get Terri to bandage it. I was headed out there when I heard the smoke alarm, but I didn’t see her out there.”
“It’s fine,” Carrie said tugging her hand away. He didn’t let it go. Instead, he brought it to his mouth and kissed it slowly as he held her gaze. Carrie licked her lips, tasting the sugar cookies she had to taste test before she put them in the oven. “Um, I, ah…” she stammered, at a loss for words as she stared at the blatant desire in his eyes.
“Do you ride?” he asked suddenly.
Her dazed mind spun trying to process the words. “Since I could walk,” Carrie replied once she wrapped her mind around what he’d asked.
“I have a few days off for my arm to heal. Will you go riding with me this afternoon?
You need to relax a little,” he said with a little smile.
Carrie didn’t know how spending time with this cowboy would lend itself to relaxation. Every time she got within three feet of him, she was wound tighter than she had been in years. Being alone with him, wouldn’t help her put distance between them. But her mouth opened, and “Yes,” fell out, before she could stop it.
She only had two days left here, and she couldn’t resist the opportunity to feel like a desirable woman once more. That’s how he made her feel. Something she hadn’t felt in three years, and wasn’t likely to feel again for a long time after she left this ranch. Dylan made her forget her grief, forget her problems. Carrie knew agreeing to spend time with him was just avoidance. Her problems would still be there when she went back to her parents’ ranch. Right now though, he would help her forget for an afternoon.
“Come out to the barn around two, and I’ll have the horses saddled.”
“I can help,” she offered, and her gaze fell to his shoulder. “You’re hurt. You shouldn’t be saddling anything. Are you sure you’re okay to ride?”
He laughed and his smile broadened. “I could ride with one arm tied behind my back.”
“I’ll ride with you, if you let me saddle the horses then,” she propositioned.
“Deal,” he replied and his deep voice vibrated along her nerve endings. When he leaned toward her, Carrie held her breath. His lips touched hers, lingered for a second, then with a playful little nip to her lower lip, he stood back up and smiled. “You taste like sugar cookies.”
“That’s what the lumps of coal in the trash were,” she replied with an embarrassed laugh.
“Give me some of those beautiful biscuits, and a few of those cupcakes to take back to the bunkhouse with me.” Dylan eyed them over her shoulder. “I’ll make some gravy to go with the biscuits for breakfast.” His tongue made a circuit around his lips, and her eyes were dragged around with it. Heat settled between her legs, and her lips sizzled.
She would give him the whole damned pan if he kissed her again. But he didn’t. He just stood there staring. Waiting. For her to do something. Oh, yeah, ice the cupcakes and wrap up biscuits for him. Heat shot up to her cheeks, and Carrie walked to the refrigerator to get the bowl of icing. She iced the cupcakes, while he leaned against the counter watching her. Moving around him, she brought the bowl to the sink, then opened the cabinet beside it to look for a container. The one she wanted was on the upper shelf, and she couldn’t reach it even on her tip toes. Huffing a frustrated breath, she balanced on her arms, then climbed up on the counter. Sometimes it sucked being short, she thought, as she stood to drag it down from the top shelf. When she turned around to get down Dylan was right there behind her.
He smiled up at her and put his hand at her knee. “I couldn’t help you get it down, but I wanted to make sure you didn’t fall,” he informed with a shrug.
Carrie eased down to sit on the counter, and he grabbed the container from her to sit it on the counter, before he nudged her knees apart to make a space for his hips. He slid his hands up her thighs to grip her hips, and Carrie’s heart did a leap in her chest. “And I wanted a real kiss. You’re at the perfect height now for that to happen.”
His eyes dropped to her mouth, and he licked his lips again. “Kiss me, Carrie,” he invited, not making a move to kiss her. He just waited, while staring at her mouth, which felt like it was on fire. Carrie licked her own lips, then hesitantly leaned toward him, stopping when her mouth was within millimeters of his to catch her breath, to get her out of control heart to slow down.
“Kiss me, Carrie,” he whispered again.
She put her palms on his bare chest and his heated skin felt like smooth silk under her touch. His warm, musky morning scent enflamed her senses, as she closed the space between them to take a tentative pass over his mouth with hers, then another. That evidently wasn’t enough for him, because his left hand moved up from her hip. He shoved his hand into her hair, cradling her skull to pull her closer, as his mouth devoured hers. He feasted on her lips like they were the best thing he’d ever tasted.
His were the best she had tasted in a helluva long time, that was for sure. Minty toothpaste, and the sweetness of the man kissing her flooded her senses. Carrie couldn’t get enough of him. Her hands moved to circle his neck and pull him closer still. He was right, this counter was at the perfect height for kissing and so much more.
The inside of her knee brushed the warm skin at his hip, where his pajama pants rode low. Fire shot up the inside of her thigh to her center and she throbbed there in time with her heart. Without conscious thought, Carrie wrapped her legs around his waist to pull him closer to where she needed him. Dylan moaned into her mouth, and his tongue courted hers in time with his hips, as he ground himself into her.
His erection hit her in just the perfect spot, and her breath came in short pants as her pleasure inched up with each stroke. When she couldn’t breathe, she dragged her mouth from his and threw her head back. His lips latched onto the side of her neck and he sucked her there. Carrie moaned loudly, thrusting her hips against him, reaching for the release that was just out of her reach. “Oh, God, Dylan…yes, make me come,” she whispered hotly.
His fingers dug into her right hip, as he continued to suck her neck. “Lord, woman…I want to fuck you right here on Penny’s counter,” he growled into her ear, increasing the pace of his thrusts.
That was the hottest damned thing Carrie had ever heard. The only place she’d ever made love was in the bedroom. Behind closed doors. Most of the time with the kids rattling the doorknob, or yelling for her. Just the naughty image of doing it right here that flickered through her mind, sent her tumbling over the edge.

My Review:
This is the best of them all! So many issues to get through and I’ll be damned if they all don’t get resolved!
With the problems Chris has and her issues with Dylan, being a one night stand kinda guy, but Cassie holds her own. Then other things happen and here’s one of my favorite scenes for you to to chew on:
“You are an asshole.”
Dylon smiled, and pushed the button on the remote to see if he could hear the buzz. He really didn’t want to embarrass her. Nothing except her wide-eyed gasp, and whimper. Oh yeah, this was going to be the most fun he’d had in years, he thought, as he stood.
“Yes, I am. And you are going to be my own personal sex toy until I decide I’m through with you,” he said fighting off a shiver of anticipation. ” Or until the batteries run out.”
If that happened, he’d replace them for sure. He’d buy stock Eveready.
With that in mind, try to think of all the other trouble mentioned above and wonder how it could possibly have any kind of happy ending.
BRAVO Becky! You’ve done it again! I cannot wait to see where you put the new characters we meet into the next ones of this series!!!
