Winter Blog Blurb

The Montgomery Ink series continues with the most unlikely of romances between the one that got away and the man who can show her the world.

Holly Rose fell in love with a Montgomery, but left him when he couldn’t love her back. She might have been the one to break the ties and ensure her ex’s happy ending, but now Holly’s afraid she’s missed out on more than a chance at forever. Though she’s always been the dependable good girl, she’s ready to take a leap of faith and embark on the journey of a lifetime.

Brody Deacon loves ink, women, fast cars, and living life like there’s no tomorrow. The thing is, he doesn’t know if he has a tomorrow at all. When he sees Holly, he’s not only intrigued, he also hears the warnings of danger in his head. She’s too sweet, too innocent, and way too special for him. But when Holly asks him to help her grab the bull by the horns, he can’t help but go all in.

As they explore Holly’s bucket list and their own desires, Brody will have to make sure he doesn’t fall too hard and too fast. Sometimes, people think happily ever afters don’t happen for everyone, and Brody will have to face his demons and tell Holly the truth of what it means to truly live life to the fullest…even when they’re both running out of time.

Winter Blog Review

Holly wants to experience some new things, to step outside of her comfort zone, even if it’s only for a little while.

Brody gets a kick out of the woman singing in her car at a light. Little did he know he would run into her a few minutes later at Taboo, Hailey’s coffee shop. This is a favorite scene.

“You weren’t that off-key, just saying.”

Holly whirled around, nearly knocking over her tea in the process. The guy from the bike reached around her quickly to keep the glass upright. The movement put the heat of him dangerously close to her skin.

“Wha… How did you know I was going to be here?” She swallowed hard. She hated coincidences, and this one felt a little too weird.

“It was you?” Hailey asked with a smile. “I should have known the guy on the bike telling people to sing and be amazing was you. Holly, this is Brody. Brody, this is Holly. He’s a regular over at the shop and a friend of the Montgomerys. I’m surprised you two haven’t met before.”

“I’m surprised, too,” he murmured.

Holly just sat there, confused.

“Anyway, I liked that you sang as if no one was watching,” Brody drawled. Damn it. The man drawled. Not only did he have a very nice face with perfect lips and a perfect jaw but he also had that hair that was longer on top than it was in the back or on the sides. So when he moved his arm up to push his hair from his eyes, it made his biceps bulge in just the right way.

This man was dangerous.

And, yes…Holly had just said she wanted a little danger.

“Thanks. I think?”

He studied her face for a moment before sticking his hands in his pockets. “I didn’t mean to make you feel bad. Sorry if I did.”

Holly was aware that Hailey and Arianna were watching with rapt attention, but she ignored the other two women.

“You didn’t make me feel bad. Just the opposite, in fact.”

Brody smiled then, and her heart did that little fast beat thing she thought was just in movies. While Brody was handsome in general, the smile just pushed it to the next level.

Holy hell. The man was sex on a stick.

“That’s good to know,” he said smoothly, his voice going deeper. “And if you’d ever like to test out that adventure on the back of my bike, since I saw the way you were looking at it, just let me know.” He grinned this time. “I’ll be right over at the shop if you’re interested after you finish your meal. It’s nice to meet you, Holly.” He nodded toward the others. “Ladies.”

And with that, he strolled away, back toward Montgomery Ink. Holly’s eyes were glued to his very firm butt encased in perfect-fitting jeans.
Ryan, Carrie Ann. Adoring Ink: A Montgomery Ink Novella (Kindle Locations 337-356). Evil Eye Concepts, Incorporated. Kindle Edition.

Holly does take him up on his offer and what follows is a fun journey of new and delicious experiences.

Holly and Brody have secrets and they both need to move past them to the future. The big question is not will they, but can they.

Another wonderful and sexy journey into the world of the Montgomery clan.

The Montgomery Ink series continues with the brother that deserves a second chance, and the woman who has always loved him.

Alex Montgomery lost his first love and then proceeded to leave himself in the bottle. Only he and his ex-wife truly know why he fell so hard and so fast down a path he never thought he’d take. Now he’s clean, out of rehab, and learning how to be a Montgomery once again—a task that isn’t quite as easy as some of his family assumes.

Tabby Collins is an honorary Montgomery and the organizational mastermind behind Montgomery Inc., the family’s construction company. She loves her planners, friends, and a certain dark-haired man who’s never given her a second glance.

Alex is slowly re-immersing himself back into the world, but the demons he faced before aren’t out of the picture, and he’ll have to learn to rely on others to make it out whole. When Alex discovers that Tabby’s life is in danger, he not only finds a way to help her but also learns the true woman behind the soft smiles he’s always seen. Their romance won’t be an easy one, but nothing this passionate and heart-pounding ever is.

review-fall-cornucopia

Alex is one of the Montgomery Ink series most complex characters. He is an alcoholic who hit rock bottom at his sister’s wedding. Now out of rehab, and sober for over a year, his family is still walking on eggshells around him.

Enter Tabby, well she’s been around for a while. She works with Wes and Shane at Montgomery Inc. the construction business. She is the organizer that helps keep everything running smooth on the outside and handles most of the billing and paperwork.

Tabby has had a crush on Alex for a very long time. Now that he’s sober and finding himself in the process he is even more attractive to her. Alex on the other hand, doesn’t feel worthy of her attention or anyone’s love for that matter.

Alex has taken on a photography job for Montgomery Ink to redo their catalog and website. This is a favorite scene when Alex comes in to take some pics late in the day and only Tabby is in the office.

She licked her lips. “Good, then.” The phone rang. “I have to answer this.”

“Go ahead. I’m going to take a few shots around and see what comes to me. Do you mind?”

She waved him off as she answered the phone yet again, doing her best to ignore him and the way his muscles bulged as he pulled his camera out of its case. Damn the man for being so attractive.

And damn her for not only staring but liking the man beneath, as well.

She took notes once again as the person on the other line relayed their problem, and she tried not to look at Alexander as he snapped photos of empty desks and worktables. When he turned to her with his camera in hand, she froze, her phone at her ear.

He pulled his face away from his camera and looked at her before she ducked her head, embarrassed to have caught him snapping a photo of her. She’d known he would be taking photos of everyone who worked at Montgomery Inc., but she hadn’t really thought about what that would mean for her.

She finished up the phone call as he packed up his bag. “Are you done, then?” He nodded.

“I’m still getting the feel of what the project’s going to look like.”

She shook her head at that. “I’m such a planner that I’d probably have four notebooks already with an outline of what I needed to do.”

“My brain doesn’t work like that, unfortunately. I wish it did since it would probably make my job a bit easier. But with things like this, I can only have a vague idea of what I need until it snaps into place for me.”

“Well, if you ever need an extra notebook if you want to try planning, I have a few dozen.” She closed her mouth as her eyes widened, and she felt her cheeks heat. She hadn’t meant to let him know about that little nugget of her nerdiness.

“Only a few dozen?” he asked with a grin. “You sound like Wes.”

She shrugged. “There’s a reason he hired me.”

Alexander studied her face. “I can see that.”

They looked at one another for a few more moments without speaking, and she wasn’t sure what to say or what was going on. There was…something. Or perhaps she just imagined it.
Carrie Ann Ryan. Ink Exposed (Kindle Location 656-677). Kindle Edition.

What follows from here is a complicated, touching and extremely emotional story of love and trust.

Tabby’s secrets come out as do Alex’s. This one created a lot of tears for me, both happy and sad and of course there was some amazing sex. I love laughing and crying with the Montgomery family with every book I fall in love again.

Wolf Betrayed
Talon Pack Book 4
By
Carrie Ann Ryan

1cf2a-addtogoodreads

blurb-fall-cornucopia

The Talon Pack continues with the daughter of a traitor, the man who can never be her lover, and another man she should never want…her enemy.

Charlotte Jamenson was born to the Pack that threatened the world, but grew up in the one that saved it. She’s spent her entire life repenting for lies and faults that were never hers to bear. When she falls for her best friend, Bram Devlin, she thinks she’s finally found forgiveness for the blood in her veins; only a mating bond never came.

Bram knows there’s something missing within his mating with Charlotte, but there’s nothing he can do about it. Their Pack is in danger, and it’s his duty to protect their Alpha—even if it means sacrificing his life. When he’s put in charge of protecting a new member of the Talon Pack, he realizes he and Charlotte may just have a chance at something more than heartache.

Shane Bruins sacrificed his life and his future to protect the Packs from the men he worked for. Now, thanks to circumstances beyond his control, he’s not quite who he was before, and his life is on the line yet again. Only this time, he isn’t alone, and the two wolves in his path might be the only things that can calm the beast inside.

The war isn’t coming, it’s here, and the Talon Pack will have to rely on three souls who know they aren’t what each other wants—but exactly what they need—to win.

review-fall-cornucopia

When Charlotte and Bram’s mating attempt failed to produce a bonding they went back to being friends, it just wasn’t the same. They still love each other and it really hurts that the bond didn’t appear. With Charlotte still battling the heartbreak of that, Finn’s wolf tells him that she is needed in the Talon Pack.  So she travels with Finn and his mate Brynn this leads into my favorite scene.

A man’s scream echoed off the walls, and Charlotte’s wolf moved forward, ready to fight.

“What the hell?” Finn growled.

“That’s why I wanted you here,” Gideon said with a sigh. “We have a new Pack member.”

Charlotte’s eyes widened. While it was not uncommon to bring in new members of the Pack, they were in the middle of a war, and turning a human probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do. Not that she’d tell a very dominant Alpha wolf that.

“Seriously?” Finn asked.

“What happened?” Brynn said.

Gideon pinched the bridge of his nose. “He is— was— a soldier, working under Montag.”

Charlotte hissed. Montag was the General who had killed dozens of wolves in the name of science. He tortured them to discover their secrets and was one of the loudest opponents against the wolves’ right to live at all.

“I don’t know what happened exactly, but we’re going to find out,” Gideon continued, giving Charlotte a curious glance. “He saved Ryder and Leah and risked his life to do so. Then he showed up at our borders and saw through the wards.”

“Holy hell,” Brynn whispered. “Ryder told me about the human that saved him, but I didn’t know who it was.”

“He’s also the man who saved you from that bullet, FYI,” Gideon said to Brynn. “But he’s not human anymore.”

“You changed him?” Finn asked.

Gideon shook his head. “No. That’s the thing. He smells of wolf but he isn’t yet. He was dying, and the only way to save him was to bring him into the Pack. He’s not wolf. He’s not human. He’s something… different. The humans made something, Finn, something that could destroy us all if we’re not careful. I don’t know what to do with him.”

Another scream. This one louder.

“He’s in pain,” Charlotte growled. She didn’t know this human, didn’t know if she could trust him. He was a soldier— the enemy.

Gideon nodded. “And there’s nothing we can do to calm him. He’s here because Walker is trying to help, but no matter what we do, nothing seems to work. I’m at my wit’s end here.”

Charlotte was listening, but her legs had started to move without her thinking. She moved toward the source of the screaming and sucked in a breath at the sight of the man on the bed. He was chained at his ankles and wrists, but from the gouges in his arms, she figured the restraints were for his own safety.

Perhaps.

His veins stood out prominently, and he thrashed under the blanket he wore to cover him since he didn’t seem to have a stitch of anything else on. He screamed again before his eyes snapped open and met hers. His nostrils flared, and his body went rod-straight at the sight of her. Gradually, his breathing eased, and the cords on his neck softened.

Her wolf pounced, pushing at her to go closer.

But she couldn’t. Because she’d heard a word on the wind she shouldn’t have. The one word that could break her.

Mate.

“Charlotte?” Finn asked. “What is it?”

She looked at him, her body swaying. “My wolf…” She pressed her lips together and pushed past him and the others so she could breathe once again.

“Charlotte,” Finn said once again when he came to her side. “He’s your mate, isn’t he? That’s why my wolf told me to bring you. Because he’s here… because you needed to be. It’s fate, isn’t it, Charlotte? It’s a twisted, fucked up fate.”
Ryan, Carrie Ann. Wolf Betrayed (Talon Pack Book 4) (pp. 12-14). Carrie Ann Ryan. Kindle Edition.

This is just the beginning of many fascinating revelations in this book. Not the least of which is the possible Triad of Bram, Charlotte and Shane. War was not around the corner it appears on their doorstep.

We also see Brandon as he struggles with his need to find a mate and briefly Ashley who has been helping the wolves after realizing the evil her father was doing.

I couldn’t put this down, so much was going on and I laughed, cried, held my breath and fanned myself over some of the most sizzling triad scenes I have ever read.

Graham Gallagher has seen it all. And when tragedy struck, lost it all. He’s been the backbone of his brothers, the one they all rely on in their lives and business. Summer My Review

Once again Carrie Ann has take my heart and twisted it all around and then fixed it all up.

We met one of the Gallagher brothers in the Montgomery Ink series, Jake is part of Maya Montgomery’s triad. Now we get to meet his brothers. We start with the eldest Graham. Graham is the head of the family and has known much pain in his life. Now he’s not sure what to think the heiress who is in charge of the renovation of her family home. He starts growling at her right from the start, much to the dismay of his brothers. Here is a favorite scene, oh, those first impressions.

As they neared the other entrance, he let out an oath. If anything, the cracking paint and wallpaper, as well as the molding beams, looked even worse than before. If they hadn’t already done a full sweep of the place to make sure it was safe to even stand under the damn roof, he wouldn’t even be inside. This was going to be one hell of a job, and if he’d been in any other mood, and if it had been any other place without the strings that came with it, he might have been more excited about the prospects of being part of the restoration.

The place had good bones, he had to give it that, but that was about it. And, normally, while good bones were the reason he did this job and loved it— at least, usually— sometimes, he wanted to kick someone for letting a place get to this. Yeah, he’d be out of a job in that case, but to see something that had once been so grand and intricate end up the way this place was, hurt.

Buildings needed care, and most of the time, people sucked and didn’t do it.

“You’d think with a family with this kind of money, they’d take care of their shit a little better,” Graham grumbled.

“Good to know what kind of attitude you’ll have on the job,” a sultry voice said from behind him.

Owen mumbled a curse while Murphy’s eyes widened. Graham tightened his jaw. Great. The little heiress was finally here, and now he had to deal with whatever shit she’d brought with her.

He turned on his heel, rolling his shoulders back as he did. The shock to his system at the first look of her was a jolt.

Shit, were heiresses supposed to look that good in a business skirt?

Of course, they are, he thought to himself. They spent all their money on their clothes and whatever they needed to look the way they did, rather than taking care of the important things in their possession like the home they’d once lived in. God forbid this woman get her hands dirty to clean up the mess that the people residing here had left.

Her long brown hair had streaks of lighter colors in it, like blonde and chestnut, though she’d pulled it back in a tight bun at the base of her neck so he couldn’t see how long it was.

Her eyes were large, but not too big for her face, and had this honey brown hue to them that looked as if they might change color in different lighting. Her cheekbones were prominent, but not in the malnourished way that the one chick who’d hit on him at the last site had had. She wore a light brown business jacket with silver buttons over a cream shirt and a very tight skirt that matched the jacket.

If he weren’t already in a pisser of a mood, he might have wanted to see how far that skirt would slide up her legs as he fucked her. Especially with those tall heels she wore that had the little straps at the ankles to keep them in place.

And that was a train of thought he needed to end right now. He didn’t know this woman, and while his groin might have one idea, his brain needed to focus on the fact that someone had neglected this house for years. Yeah, it might not exactly be her fault, but she was here, and he needed someone to blame.
Carrie Ann Ryan. Love Restored (Kindle Locations 210-236).

Blake doesn’t have a choice when it comes to the renovation she is the executor of the estate. It has nothing to do with her other than cause her more pain. She has a life so different from what that home represents. As a the new piercer at Montgomery Ink, she is finding friends but she has a major secret she can’t afford to let out.

Being attracted to Graham is bad for her, she can’t let anyone that close to her, she has too much to lose.

I laughed and cried just like I do with the Montgomery Ink series. The rawest emotions and the hottest scenes ever are in these books. I look forward to meeting the next Gallagher brother up close and personal.

SummerSm Blurb

Gibson Barton knows his Pack is on the verge of something they will never be able to prepare for: a chance at freedom. Yet when he’s finally able to open his eyes to what might be his fate, it could be too late.

As a submissive wolf of her Pack, Mandy Calhoun has always only watched Gibson from afar. Because of her fears, she hasn’t let her intentions toward him—or the other in her sights—be known.

Oliver Dare is the Foreseer of the Ursine Pack, and knows with each vision, his death is that much closer. Yet he cannot see his own future—or that of the two wolves who have been thrust into his path.

There is danger lurking in the den, and as the three learn to process their emotions and navigate their temptations, they’ll have to fight for something they never knew they had—or sacrifice it all for a purpose far greater than their own destinies.

SummerSm Review

As this series continues, change is on the horizon. Everyone can feel it, a tension in the air. With the inclusion of the Bears there is even less room for the packs within the compound. With that said, the inclusion of another pack also increases the chances of others finding mates.

Mandy is a submissive wolf, but she is much stronger than she thinks. She has been a little more than in love with Gibson for a long time. Yet she doesn’t approach him, she just hangs with her friend Theo. Unfortunately Theo thinks he could be her mate.

After an attack on Gibson, Mandy has had enough of hiding her feelings, not only for him but for Oliver as well. This is one of my favorite scenes.
He set the muffins on the small, beaten-up table in his kitchen as Mandy and Gibson each took a chair.

He sat down as well, the awkwardness of the situation settling over his skin.

“So…”

“So…” Gibson repeated.

Mandy let out a breath and rolled back her shoulders. “So… yeah. I had a nightmare. I don’t know what it was actually. It was dark, and there was growling, and it scared me. So I came here.” She blushed. “I don’t know why I came here instead of going to Ariel or Theo, but I did.”

At the sound of Theo’s name, Gibson let out a growl, surprising the three of them.

“Theo’s just my friend,” Mandy said softly. “That’s all he ever was.”
Gibson blinked. “I thought he was going to be your mate.”

She shook her head, and Oliver watched Gibson’s shoulders relax. “He wanted more, but I never would have mated him.” She scrunched her nose. “Well, I might have later on if my wolf finally gave in, but she wanted… wants someone else.” She sighed. “I wanted someone else. Still do.”
Oliver froze, as did Gibson. The sound of the coffee percolating filled the silence and they waited for Mandy to finish.

“This isn’t easy you know,” Mandy grumbled. “I’m not used to being so open and forward, and you two sitting there all growly and intimidating isn’t helping.”

Oliver smiled softly at that. “We’re not growling right now.”

She raised a brow and pointed at Gibson. “He growled.”

The other man held up his hands. “Yeah, I’m a wolf. I do that. He’s a bear, he tends to grumble and huff more than growl.”

Oliver snorted. “True. And don’t forget the roaring.”

Mandy smiled as he hoped she would and appeared to relax somewhat. “Anyway, I’m going to be an idiot and say something I probably shouldn’t. But you know what? We’re living in a time where things are all up in the air, and I might as well just go for it. Because waiting isn’t helping anyone, and I’m kind of freaking myself out over the whole thing.”

She paused, met both of their gazes. “My wolf wants you both. There. I said it.”
Buried and Shadowed (Kindle Location 654-675).

This begins a relationship that tugs at my heart. Even as others try to destroy it, there is strength in the bond.

With attacks coming from within the compound as opposed to the norm of the outside and SAU, the packs investigate and what they find is both alarming and heartbreaking.

This is a fast paced, intriguing, suspenseful read. With an emotional heat filled mating. I loved every second of it. You may need some tissues with this one.

Sinclair, Alpha of the Unseen Pack, is determined to destroy the Shifter Accommodation Unit. He understands that his people will never be free until the truth is revealed and their enemies are brought out of the shadows and exposed to the public. Unfortunately, the human female who has been secretly working with him has disappeared, and his priorities must shift slightly. He’s resolved to track her down, and not just because she has the information he needs.

Mira Reese isn’t stupid. She’s painfully aware that the sexy shifter she’s been working with has been using her fascination for him to gain access to the CDC computer system. But that doesn’t stop her from helping Sinclair. Not when it allows her to be close to him. But after the CDC kidnaps her, she realizes that this isn’t a game. She’s a potential savior for the future of the shifters—and perhaps especially the loner wolf who stirs her passions.

SummerSm Review

Ah the mysterious Sinclair, how I love him. He has been out and about fighting for the shifters from the beginning. Now we get an up close look at him and how he’s been doing what he’s doing.

As the time comes to blow the cover on the SAU and how it came to be, the stakes are higher and more deadly than ever. A key piece the Doctor who developed the virus to begin with and where he is hiding. Mira has been looking for him everywhere she can, and as a result has been taken by the SAU. Sinclair has to find her and get her safe for more than one reason. Here is a favorite scene after he takes her from enemy clutches.

“My past means that I don’t have the best interpersonal skills,” he stated the obvious. “And I have even less insight into my emotions.”

“You’re a male.” She shrugged. “None of you have any insights.”

“Ouch.” He pressed her hand to the center of his chest. “A direct hit.”

She turned her head away. Almost as if she thought she could hide her hurt from him. It was obvious she had a lot to learn about shifters.

He could smell her each and every emotion.

At the moment, her luscious scent was a mixture of spring flowers, burnt toast, and a lingering feminine desire she couldn’t disguise.

“You really don’t have to say anything else,” she said.

“I do.” He resisted the urge to tug her into his lap and wrap her tightly in his arms. First, he had to undo the damage he’d caused. Only then could she trust him. “Initially, my intention was to seek you out and earn your trust so you would help me,” he admitted, rubbing his thumb over the tender skin of her inner wrist. He felt her heart skip a beat at his light caress. She was still aroused by his touch. Thank God. It was the only hope he had that he could reach through the walls she was trying to build between them. “But that doesn’t explain why I spent my day checking my phone to see if you called,” he confessed. “Or why I refused the offer of my Packmates to meet with you. From the minute I caught sight of you, I knew that no one else was getting near you.” He lifted her hand to nuzzle his lips against her fingers. “You are mine.”

That brought her head back around, her eyes wide. “Yours?”

He didn’t hesitate. “Yes. Mine.” He placed her fingers against his cheek. “It just took the thought of losing you to get it through my thick skull.”

Her eyes darkened with pleasure. A growl rumbled deep in Sinclair’s chest. His woman liked the feel of his rough whiskers that stubbled his jaw. Good. He planned to rub them over her naked skin as he kissed a path from her lush lips to the tips of her toes.

“I’ll agree with the thick skull part.”

He turned his head, pressing his lips to the center of her palm. “Let me convince you,” he pleaded in soft tones.

He heard her breath catch in her throat and the sudden leap of her heart. But even as she started to sway toward him, she abruptly shoved herself to her feet.
Buried and Shadowed (Kindle Locations 2547-2569).

As Mira unravels this puzzle with skill and intrigue, Sinclair must keep her and his pack safe. Lots of suspense, a heart pounding race against time, and a revelation. Top that off with sizzling sex and a love story for the ages.

I also fell in love with Rios the Unseen beta and Bree the shifter/reporter I assume is his mate. I guess that’s a story for the next installment.

Summer About the Author

Alexandra Ivy

I’m not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother’s knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.

Years later (no, I’m not admitting how many) I’m still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!

I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.

Summer Blurb

The Montgomery Ink series continues with a forbidden love between three friends and a past that they can’t escape.

Jake Gallagher knew from the moment he saw Maya that she was the one for him–it had the same breath-taking intensity as when he’d first set eyes on Border. Only life never turns out the way one plans, and now he’s falling for someone else…or at least he thinks he is.

Maya Montgomery never should have looked past the friendship she already had. Now that she has, she can’t stop thinking about Jake and what he means to her. When a mysterious stranger from Jake’s past shows up at their door, she’s forced to admit that if she doesn’t take the risk of a lifetime, she’ll regret it for the rest of her days.

Border Gentry walked away without a second glance once because of what could happen if he let go, but now he’s back and ready to see what he’s missed. He’s been on the road a long time and has seen things no man should ever see, yet once he rediscovers the broody Jake and meets the inked and fierce Maya, they’re like a balm to his soul and he realizes what path his future should take.

It will take more than sizzling chemistry and a heat that never dies for the three of them to overcome their pasts. And when someone from the outside wants to stand in their way, it’s not only their hearts on the line…but also their lives.

Summer My Review

I knew this was going to be a very interesting relationship just from the hints in the previous books. I didn’t quite know how Carrie Ann would pull it off, but she definitely did it.

The book starts off with a bang, and progress from there. Maya is irritable and trying really hard to accept that Jake is with Holly. She’s hurting but can’t define it or she would lose her best friend.

Jake thought he could maybe get serious with Holly but if he was truly honest with himself he can’t. He too can’t define it but somehow everyone else can.

Jake and Maya are in love and denying it because of their best friend status. Then Border returns to Denver and damn if all hell doesn’t break lose in more ways than one.

This is a favorite scene from immediately after Maya meets Border and he gets called to work.

Maya stared at him, confusion in her gaze, before leaving him standing alone. She went into the kitchen and flipped off the chili on the stove.

“I’m going to guess this is Border’s since you don’t know how to make chili.”

Jake let out a relieved breath. He could talk about chili. That was a good place to start. “I can cook.”

Maya raised a brow at him, that damn sexy piercing glinting in the light. “I didn’t say you couldn’t. I’m saying you don’t know how to make chili.” She leaned over the stove and inhaled. “Smells good.”

She covered the pot and set it off the burner before leaning back against the counter and folding her arms over her chest.

“So, you going to tell me what just happened? Because I’m confused as hell.”

Jake leaned against the breakfast counter so he was directly across from her but not exactly touching.

“I have no idea what just happened.”

“You’re lying,” Maya said smoothly. “And you know I don’t like liars. So why don’t you tell me what was going on in the kitchen before I showed up. Tell me why your hand is red and Border’s jaw looked like someone had recently hit it. Tell me why you hugged me like you did when I showed up. Why Border kissed each of us. And what you both meant about having us both, or whatever you said when I walked in. How does that sound to you?”
Ink Enduring (Montgomery Ink Book 5) (Kindle Locations 1185-1196). Kindle Edition.

We finally meet Border and learn about his relationship with Jake. How neatly he fits in with Maya becomes a beautifully written ménage. Not saying this relationship was an easy one. I wanted to smack both Jake and Maya at some points. The interruptions when they all got together to talk was both annoying and true to life.

This series just gets better and better, a peak at Alex’s return home and a bit more of Tabby. The whole Montgomery clan. Meeting the Gallagher brothers, and of course the requisite announcements. I really loved this book but I wanted a bit more of Alex and Tabby.

I can’t wait for the next book Ink Exposed!

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Eliana Sawyer’s life was rocked from its foundation twice in as many years. She risked her heart and had it shattered into a thousand pieces when Malik left her with no warning. While she’d normally raise her chin and ignore the pain, she can’t forget what he gave her before he disappeared from her life.

Malik Ward is a prince amongst the lion shifters and knows that one day he will have to take a mate. Only, his people can never mate with humans. Under the mistaken impression that Eliana was only human, he forced himself to leave before they’d crossed a line and he broke his vow to his people. Now that he knows the truth about Eliana, however, it will take more than groveling to win back the one woman fated to be his.

While Eliana and Malik embark on a new sensuous path that might lead to disaster, the realms aren’t ready to allow the final lightning-struck human to be enveloped into their fold. The couple will have to combat those plotting against them, as well as the broken promises and heated emotions they share.

Warning: Contains a Leo with a bite that’s worse than his roar, a woman with one last chance at the life she’s always dreamt of, a flame that could extinguish with the wrong sacrifice, and the final journey in the bestselling Dante’s Circle series

Review Spring Blog - Copy

This book was a gift from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I love the Dante’s Circle series and while I am sorry to see it end there were only the seven of them that were lightening struck.

In An Immortals Song we saw Eliana be rejected by Malik before she was able to tell him she was pregnant. Now we get to see the whole story. As the book opens Eliana is out with all of the lightening struck and their mates. Very pregnant and scared she finds out that Malik isn’t human, like she thought, they all thought. When Malik shows up things get very interesting. This is one of my favorite scenes.

He hadn’t known that the one woman he’d thought he could love— the one woman, if he let himself believe, he did love— was lightning-struck.

He’d kicked Eliana out of his bed, out of his life, and had shut the door so tightly on that connection that he’d missed out on what could have been his future.

Holy. Hell. Eliana was pregnant. With his child. His cub.

His mouth went dry and his brain fogged, much like it had when he’d first heard about what Eliana could be.

He hadn’t known she was pregnant when he left. Hadn’t known when he found out that Eliana could be his. He hadn’t known until he’d walked in and almost fell to his knees. There was no doubt this was his child. Not with the timing or the way the others— and Eliana— glared at him as though he were the worst kind of person. He couldn’t blame them, but he couldn’t care about their opinions yet either.

Not until he spoke to Eliana and figured out what the hell they were going to do.

“You have a hell of a lot of nerve showing up here,” a woman with dark hair and blunt bangs said. She stood up, and Malik scented pixie on her.

Well, that made sense since pixies were some of the most cutthroat paranormals out there.

“Faith, sit down,” Eliana said, her voice strong. A hell of a lot stronger than he felt right then.

“You can’t expect me to sit down while this asshole shows up after being missing for months.” Faith waved her hand at him, and if she’d been in her full pixie form, he had a feeling her wings would have been red with anger right then.

The numerous others at the table began to speak at once. Even the babies cried or babbled in that baby language Malik had never been able to understand. His pulse pounded at his temple but he only had eyes for Eliana. He needed to speak to her, needed to explain, needed to find a way to breathe because he couldn’t quite get enough air.

“Eliana,” he whispered.

Eliana pressed her lips together and put her hands over her stomach, over their baby. He hadn’t been here, didn’t know until it was almost too late about the pregnancy, but the fact that she was carrying his cub changed everything.

The others became louder, even standing up to walk toward him. He stayed frozen to his spot, afraid to move closer and lose Eliana forever. Though, really, did he have her at all? He’d fucked up but it wasn’t his fault. He’d done what he had to do with the evidence he’d held at the time.

“Stop it,” Eliana said softly, though her voice was firm. “All of you. Sit down and take care of your babies. I need to speak with Malik. Alone.”

She made a move to stand up, and he took a step toward her, needing to help, but stopped as a tall and slender man made it to her first. The other man glared over his shoulder at Malik as he put his hands on Eliana’s arms.

“Thank you, Seth,” Eliana whispered.

Seth. This was Tristan’s mate, or at least one of them. That meant Malik didn’t have to rip the man’s arms off for daring to touch Eliana. He tried to keep his temper in check, fisting his hands at his sides and breathing through his nose. He had no right to feel this way, no right to fuck everything up once more. But it seemed the predator in him was ready to claim the woman in front of him. Hell, he’d been ready when he’d thought Eliana was human.

As lions couldn’t mate with humans, he’d walked away.

Hopefully, Eliana would listen to him, would forgive him.

But he wouldn’t grovel. He would one day be Leo and a Leo didn’t beg.

No matter what might be needed.

“Eliana, let us go with you at least,” Faith said.

“Let them be alone,” Tristan put in, his eyes on Malik. This was his friend, or at least had been at one time. They weren’t brothers, weren’t warriors together, but they had once been closer than they were now. Endless time and responsibilities had separated them, but at least the man stood for him now. “For now,” Tristan added, his eyes narrowing. “They should speak alone for now as they need to get the facts straight. But know this, Malik, if you hurt her again, you won’t just have a pixie on your heels but also the rest of us.”

“And we won’t hold back for long,” the large dragon said from the side.
Of course, Eliana was friends with a dragon. Why wouldn’t she be?

Malik had never been so wrong in his life, and now he had to make sure he didn’t lose her again. Because if he messed up, he had a feeling it would be the women at the table tearing him limb from limb, not the dragon or the fae in front of him.

Eliana pushed Seth’s hands away and picked up her bag. “Let’s talk then, Malik,” she snapped. Fire slid into her eyes and he wanted to take a step back. He’d seen lionesses in a rage before, but he had a feeling they had nothing on a pregnant Eliana right then.

She moved past him, keeping her distance, and he let out a breath before following her. He didn’t miss the glares sent his way, or the fact that the bear shifter at the table was casually sharpening his claws even in human form.

Dear goddess, this crew fought for their own like no other.
Carrie Ann Ryan. Prowled Darkness (Kindle Locations 303-350).

Malik has some explaining to do and I think some groveling would be in order no matter what he thinks. I absolutely love the way everyone stood with Eliana.

We find out why Malik left and of course we find out what Eliana becomes.

None of these matings have been easy and this one is no exception. A lively and tempestuous story. One that will have you laughing, crying, panting and more.

A perfect ending to a wonderful series! Thank you for the journey Carrie Ann.

Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?

Amara Young has always been on the outside looking in. She’s the one lightning-struck woman out of her group who has never felt as if she’s belonged. She lost a year of her life caring for her dying friend, but now it’s her turn to find out who she is. Only when the time comes, two men stand in her way—two men who claim her as theirs.

Tristan Archer, fae royalty and Conclave member, has waited over nine hundred years for his fate. And now he has two chances. While one knows his path, the other seems blind to what they could have. It will take more than a simple risk for Tristan to finally have what he desires…that is if Amara and Seth can overcome their own uncertainties.

While the other two in his life are fighting themselves and their futures, Seth Oceanus knows exactly what he wants. The younger brother of a Conclave member and relatively young in his realm, he knows he’ll have to prove himself so others see him for who he truly is.

As the triad succumbs to their cravings, they will have to fight more than their overwhelming feelings in order to survive.

Warning: Contains an innocent merman, a very talented fae, and a human woman who can outpace them both.

I felt Amara’s fear and apprehension as she was confronted by the two men that believed her to be their mate. She didn’t feel the pull of the bond like the others did. There was something wrong, not just different.

Tristan and Seth have their own issues with this. It took quite a bit of convincing from the other lightening struck and their mates for them to approach her. Amara put a lot of faith and trust in them when she agreed to go to Tristan’s home so the three of them could talk about what they were feeling. They all put everything on the line in the hopes of mating and the bond forming.

This is one of my favorite scenes taking place after they make the attempt to bond. Their intense feelings for each other making it seem so right.

Tears slid over Amara’s cheeks and her body shook as she wept. Tristan held them both, silent but stoic. Seth couldn’t speak, couldn’t formulate the words for what this meant. Instead, he ran his hands over Amara’s back and promised himself that he wouldn’t let her leave them— bond or no.

When he finally opened his mouth to speak, Amara froze. Her body twisted one way then the other as she lifted her torso off him, her mouth open in a silent scream.

Tristan cursed and quickly sat up, bringing her into his arms. “She’s changing,” he bit out. “Fuck, I didn’t know it would hurt her this bad.”

Seth scrambled up and went to Amara’s other side, holding her close, rocking her body back and forth.

“What does this mean?” he asked Tristan, who looked worried as hell.

“I don’t know,” he gasped. “I just don’t fucking know.”

Amara’s body would only change to her paranormal half once she’d made love to her mate or mates. That’s how the lightning-struck worked. Yet the bond hadn’t come to be between the three of them.

It didn’t make any sense.

Seth couldn’t think about all of that yet. His mate, his Amara was in pain, and he couldn’t fix it. Instead, he did his best to hold her close and prayed her agony would end soon.

What happened once she woke? Well… that was something they would have to figure out. Because something had happened, and it wasn’t like the others.

When it came to the three of them, nothing seemed to be.
An Immortal’s Song (Dante’s Circle Book 6) (Kindle Locations 690-702). Kindle Edition.

The things come to light as they find out what Amara has become are not only dangerous, they could be fatal. There are many threats to their happiness, but the greatest is the one that is preventing the mating bond.

A fast paced, action packed, intriguing read. The coming together even without the bond was extremely hot. I was holding my breath waiting for the outcome, especially once Amara started changing.

The sneak peek we got of Malik and Eliana has me waiting impatiently for their story as well. Thank goodness it’s only a month away.

In this new series we have a world in which shifters are confined in encampments, collared and branded. The SAU a government agency keeps the “animals” at bay and conducts testing on the shifters. Humans are kept in the dark and led to fear shifters as dangerous predators. We are aware of three groups of shifters, the canines, the felines and the bears.

Stolen

The first rule of being Alpha of the Canine Pack is to protect their secrets from the humans at all cost. One look at the dying human at his doorstep and Holden Carter knows he will have to break it. The broken woman with no hope at survival is his mate. When he forces the change on her to save her life, he not only sets forth motions that could risk both their lives, but the lives of every shifter in the world.

Ariel Sands grew up in a post-Verona infection world and under the care of the very humans she thought had cured the disease. When they betray her in the worst ways imaginable, she finds herself not only mated to the Alpha of a the very species she’s been taught to fear, but the focal point of a traitor and path to destruction for everyone’s way of life. It will take more than trust and a mating bond for Ariel and Holden to not only survive their enemies, but the burn of their own temptations.

Small Review Spring Blog - Copy

In Stolen, we meet the canines.

I love the Alpha Holden, he is trying so hard to do the right thing for his pack, one of those things has been not to mate. He is careful about who he beds, since none of the females in his pack are his mate.

When he comes across what he at first thinks is a body dump, his wolf cries mate. Ariel has been left for dead by the SAU, and Holden is given no choice by his wolf. There is only one way he can save her, and that way will but everyone at risk. Change her into a wolf.

One of my favorite passages is when Ariel wakes up already healing and Holden is trying to explain what happened:

“I’ll explain everything once you’re clean and have food in you.” He nudged her chin with his knuckle and she met his gaze. “You’re my mate, Ariel. You don’t have to believe that right now, but you’ll feel the connection.” He frowned. “At least I hope you will. We’ll deal with what that means at another time, but first, let’s get you cleaned up.”

She blinked. “You changed me. Is that what you’re saying? Because if that’s true, you didn’t give me a choice.” She ran a hand over her chest. “I… I don’t know how I feel about that.”

He winced but didn’t defend himself. “Shower, Ariel. Now.”

“Don’t order me around.”

“I’m the Alpha, siren. You’ll have to get used to listening to my orders.”

“Siren?” she asked, her head spinning.

“It was either that or mermaid.” He shrugged then picked her up, holding her close to his chest. She let out a yelp and wrapped her arms around his neck so she wouldn’t fall.

“I can walk,” she snapped.

“Can you?” he asked in that annoyingly arrogant tone.

Keeping Arial safe is top on the list of the Holden’s priorities. Yet as the Alpha’s mate she must also find her place in the pack. This will not be easy as so many things are thrown at both her and the pack simultaneously.

Jealousy, new love, sizzling sex and the SAU causing more than enough grief for everyone.

Soren Slater is a Beta wolf who understands that duty to his Pack comes before his own needs. At a young age he takes a position as a liaison between his Pack and the other species of shifters. He never expected his enticing flirtations with Cora Wilder, a Tiger Princess, would encourage her cat to consider him a potential mate. He’s forced to walk away, choosing a partner among the wolves to try and strengthen his Pack.

Cora has no intention of forgiving or forgetting Soren’s rejection. Not even when the Packs are forced to live together and she discovers Soren’s former mate has died. But then, she’s kidnapped by the SAU and she has no choice but to work with Soren to escape. Together they must put the past behind them if they’re to survive the human’s evil plot.

In forgiven we meet the felines as they are forced to move in with the canines. Not an ideal situation for either of them. However, there is one feline and one canine whose interest in each other is more than just surviving together.

Soren had left Cora, the feline Princess, to do what was right for his pack and mated another wolf. A fact he regretted, and even two years after Leah’s death he still feels guilty.

In spite of Cora wanting them to stay away from each other Soren and his wolf have decided not to let that happen, especially with a male cat sniffing around her. Having come up with an idea for games that would challenge and help tone down aggression he enlists Cora’s help.

As the games progress, even Cora has to admit the idea was brilliant. This is a scene as Soren leads her to his place after gifting her with her favorite chocolates.

She nearly stumbled as she felt the damp urgency between her legs. Oh, lord, it’d been so long. Too long.

“You shouldn’t waste your money on me,” she forced herself to mutter.

His fingers moved up her back, threading in her hair that she’d left down this morning. “I would give my last penny to see you smile,” he assured her.

She licked her lips that suddenly felt dry. “Soren.”

They reached his front porch, and he halted directly in front of his door, gazing down at her with a tenderness that nearly broke her heart. “I would give my soul to earn your forgiveness, princess.”

She wavered. It would be so easy to submit. To give in to the aching need of her cat. But there was still a part of her that couldn’t let go. Perhaps it was a need to punish Soren. Or to protect her vulnerable heart. Or perhaps it is simply a very female desire to continue with this delicious game, she wryly conceded. There was, after all, a heady power in having this gorgeous male chase after her.

Whatever the reason, she found herself giving a slow shake of her head. “I’m not ready.”

“I know. I’m sorry.” His hand lifted to cup her cheek, his thumb trailing along the line of her jaw. “I can be a pushy bastard. Honestly, I’m happy we can at least be friends.” His light touch sent sparks of pleasure shooting through her body.

Swaying forward, she placed her hands on his chest, relishing the feel of his sharp shudder. “Friends,” she said, the word sounding oddly empty.

His thumb found the pulse that was hammering just below the line of her jaw. “We are friends, aren’t we?” he asked.

“I thought…” She deliberately allowed her words to trail away.

“Cora?”

“Maybe we could be friends with benefits,” she suggested.

Never stupid, Soren was swift to follow her implication. His muscles tensed, his heart pounding beneath her palm. “Would those benefits include having you in my arms?” he demanded, his eyes fully wolf as he gazed down at her flushed face.

“If you want-” Her words broke off in a startled shriek as he abruptly grabbed her by the waist and tossed her over his shoulder. “What are you doing?”

Wrapping his arms around her legs, he shoved open the door and headed into his cabin. “Not giving you the chance to change your mind.”
Stolen and Forgiven (Branded Packs Book 1) (Kindle Locations 2266-2289). Kindle Edition.

Then the smoldering sex begins, as they both start to realize there is much more there.

It’s not going to be that easy though. The SAU knows Alpha’s can turn humans now and it’s only a matter of time before all hell breaks loose.

Love this story and can’t wait for more of the Branded Packs!

I love the Talon Pack series, each installment adds more to the complexity of the pack.

With the outing of the wolves to humans, the wolves now find they have another problem. Finding Leah wounded and her brother dead, they need to know what happened to have them on the run from the humans.

Without a coven to turn to, Leah has no choice but to accept the offer of sanctuary from the Talons. She can only hope she doesn’t further incur the wrath of the coven that shunned her.

From the moment Ryder held Leah as she grieved for her brother, he knew the women curled into him was his mate. He doesn’t have time for mating there are too many unknowns going on, regarding both the witches and humans.

A favorite scene is when he tells her he can’t mate with her after growling at his brother.

“You’re messing with me, Ryder. You can’t growl at your brother for touching me. You can’t think you own me when you told me yourself you wanted nothing to do with me.”

“I never said that.” He breathed in through his nose, his chest lifting. “I said I can’t mate with you. There’s a difference. I fucking want you, Leah. I want you beneath me, over me, around me. I want to sink into your heat and fuck you hard against the wall. I want to grip your hips while I pump into you. I want you so fucking much Leah. And I can’t have you the way my wolf wants you.”

She blinked. Shocked. “But…”

“I can’t mate with you, no matter how much I want to.”

“You need to explain that, Ryder. It’s not fair to either of us if you don’t.”
Mated in Mist (Talon Pack Book 3) (Kindle Locations 1105-1111). Kindle Edition.

Between losing her brother and confronted the coven that shunned her and then this not mating thing with Ryder, Leah is a confused bundle of emotion.

Talk about a man who refuses to accept his fate. Ryder’s secret will be revealed and their will be further growth and change for the Talon Pack.

Lots of surprises in this book, we have love, angst, dishonor, betrayal, sex that starts at a simmer and then bursts into flame, and so much more.
