When Myka Hayes accepted the interior design job for The Den on Tao pack lands, she didn’t expect to be reunited with the wolf that’s haunted her dreams for the last six years. But there he stood behind the bar, looking all too sexy and mysterious.

Kaden Boyd was ready to leave his past behind and begin his future. At least until Myka walked into Gee’s Bar and stirred feelings inside him he’d thought he’d forgotten.

Both burn with desire for each other, but their past complicates things. Not wanting to cause any problems in his new life, Kaden tries to resist his attraction to Myka, but she has other plans. Once and for all, she intends to make him see that some things are Worth Fighting For.

Kaden and Myka knew each other as children but when he was a lone wolf and stumbled on her and a friend, her brother Lance, once his best friend, chased him away.

Now she’s redecorating Gee’s Bar, he should stay away but Gee has business away and he has to coordinate things.

Now Myka knew Lance wouldn’t have let her take this job, but she never expected him to show up within hours of talking to her on the phone.

Nothing like trying to put the Alpha in the middle of a family argument. Have I mentioned how much I love Drew? This is a favorite scene.

The groan of old hinges and the scrape of the door sliding across the jamb was all the warning he got. With quick movements, he picked up Myka and deposited her on her feet then rolled to his as he closed his zipper. He darted out of the office, ready to tear into someone’s flesh for the interruption.

His feet stopped, and his brain absorbed the two men standing in the room. Drew, his Alpha, ran a hand through his brown hair and lifted an eyebrow in question. Lance stood behind Drew, and furious didn’t describe the look on his face.

“What in the hell are you doing here, Lance?” Myka asked from behind Kaden.
But Kaden didn’t even glance at her. He watched his old friend closely. Lance’s hair was longer, but his appearance hadn’t changed much since the time Kaden had last seen him.

“I’d ask you the same thing, Myka, but I already know the answer,” Lance grated through clenched teeth.

“Don’t talk to her like that,” Kaden warned. Lance’s words had dripped with disapproval as if Myka had tainted herself in some way.

Lance attempted to push past Drew, but the Alpha reached out grabbing Lance by the shoulder, halting him. Lance shook off the Alpha’s hold but didn’t take any more forward steps. “I told you to never come near her again, Kaden.”

This was exactly the kind of drama Kaden had wished to avoid. He didn’t need to bring any trouble the pack’s way—Drew’s way.

“It’s time to leave, Myka. You just quit.” Lance reached for his sister’s arm.

Myka jerked away. “What? Did you jump on a freaking plane as soon as you hung up with me?” She held her hand up to halt any response. “It doesn’t matter. You have no say over my life. I haven’t quit anything. In fact, I’m going to my apartment to shower and then I’ll be back to work. Here. And I don’t care if you don’t like it.”

Kaden watched as she pushed past her brother and Drew, leaving through the back door.

“I should have known you had something to do with this,” Lance growled.

“I’m not going to fight with you, Lance.”

Drew held up a hand to try and diffuse the situation. “Lance, I’m not my father, and I will vouch for Myka’s safety inside the Tao pack borders. A lot happened to all of us in the past, but that’s behind us. I’m not going to tell your sister she can’t work here if she chooses.”

“Of course not. Why would I expect you to be any help to me?”

“I’m not Magnum, but I won’t take disrespect. I’d watch your tone, son, or you will be leaving here with a limp. And your sister can make her own choices. In case you forgot, I’m the Alpha here and my word is law.”

“Damn it, Lance, leave Drew out of this. You’re pissed at me, so just keep directing that shit this way.”

“Fuck you, Kaden. And you need to stay the hell away from my sister.” Lance turned his attention to Drew. “So, you’re not going to consider my wishes?”

“You can handle your family problems however you want, Lance. You’re both adults. But if you ever disrespect me or one of my decisions again, you won’t get a second chance.” Drew nodded to both men. “Have a great morning and get the hell out of Gee’s place before he finds you here after hours. He’s not as sweet as me.”

Drew walked out while Lance and Kaden stared each other down. So many emotions swirled inside Kaden’s chest. On one hand, he wanted to reach out to Lance, but he knew the gesture would be received badly. “Look, I just want to move on. We have fucked-up pasts and fucked-up lives, but I’m trying to make something of mine now. I don’t need this drama.”

“Of course not. You’re weak and pathetic and you need to stay the hell away from my sister.”

Kaden growled. “Just because I have no wish to fight with you doesn’t mean I’m going to sit here and take your insults.”

“As I remember, you have a good history of standing there and doing nothing, or turning around and walking away.”

Kaden shoved Lance. “You have no idea how hard that was for me!”

Lance shoved him back. “I figure about as hard as it was for you to walk away when I caught you with Myka six years ago.”

The words were like a blow Kaden felt in his chest. “That was different. I couldn’t offer her anything. I was alone.”
Cavanaugh, Virginia. Worth Fighting For (Black Hills Wolves Book 26) (Kindle Locations 542-553). Decadent Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Kaden really has to figure out what’s important here. I kinda wanted to smack him a few times.

Lance really has some screwed up ideas on what a kid can and can’t do. His treatment of his sister was way over the top, but I loved the way she handles him.

Lots of family drama with some sizzling scenes and a happy ever after.

Thirteen years ago Rebecca Ferguson died, at least to everyone in the Black Hills territory. With a human mother and unable to shift into a wolf, Magnum Tao, the deranged alpha of the Tao Pack would’ve had both her and her father killed for deceiving him. Magnum didn’t allow humans to mate with members of his pack.

Now Magnum is the one who’s dead, and Rebecca can return.
But coming back from the dead, building a new life after her divorce, and opening a library in town aren’t the only obstacles Rebecca faces. Elijah, her father, doesn’t approve of her being in Los Lobos to the point where he forbids her to get involved with the pack, especially the males.

Their relationship has suffered because of her absence and she hopes to bridge the divide, confident that she doesn’t want a romantic entanglement with anyone human or wolf, anyway.

In walks sexy private detective Blaine Walker.
Thirteen years ago Blaine stumbled on his mate at the local swimming hole. The next day, she was dead. Once he learns Rebecca is alive and living in Los Lobos, he decides it’s time to give up his career in Brooklyn and return to the Black Hills. But he knows it won’t be easy to claim her since Elijah’s unnaturally overprotective. The only way Elijah will back off is to challenge him.

A challenge that will end in one of their deaths.
The Tao Pack’s rebuilding itself and needs to guard against any threats outside or in. For Blaine to have any chance to claim Rebecca, Elijah needs to be dealt with and to deal with Elijah, Drew, the alpha of the Tao Pack, has to sanction the challenge according to pack law.

Rebecca can’t deny the old attraction she felt for Blaine is still there and even stronger now that they are grown up. She’s caught between the man fate has brought back to her and her father, whose affection she’s craved her whole life.

But there’s a secret governing Elijah’s erratic behavior that can cost Rebecca everything she’s worked hard to build and everything she thought she could never have with a man or wolf.

Will Rebecca and Blaine beat the odds stacked against them?
Or will the choices they make ultimately lead them down a path both of them don’t want?

Yes I know, I am still catching up on this series, but they keep releasing more and I can’t resist. This is Inge Saunders’ first Black Hills Wolves and it is my pleasure to review this ARC.

As with many daughters, Rebecca was sent away from the Tao pack under Magnum’s rule and most believed her to be dead. Though her father sent her for a different reason, she is a latent wolf and he spread the rumor of her death.

Before she left she had an encounter with another wolf, Blaine. She knew even then there was something different about him, but he too left the Tao pack to save his own life. He was too dominant and so a threat to Magnum.

With Magnum dead and Drew rebuilding, Rebecca has returned to the Black Hills and is contributing by converting a building into a library.

Blaine has discovered that Rebecca is alive and back in the Black Hills. Now he has also returned but needs a promise from Drew in return for his blood oath to the Alpha.

This is a favorite scene.

Blaine realized his mistake. He hadn’t broken eye contact with the alpha. He lowered his head, and the acerbic atmosphere warmed a fraction.

“Why do you want to come back?” Drew’s tone held a bite.

No pleasantries. He should’ve been submissive. Instead, he lifted his head. Neither Drew nor Ryker flinched as he gazed at them. I need to be honest if I’m going to get anywhere with these two.

Ryker seemed one step away from grabbing him by the shirt collar and throwing him out for his insolence.

“I’m here because the Black Hills is home.”

Drew’s eyes narrowed. He had noted his phrasing. “I’m the alpha here, Blaine. You’ll have to swear a blood oath to me.”

A blood oath would prevent Blaine from killing Drew. “Has everyone sworn such a pledge to you?”

“Only those who place the pack above their ambitions.” Drew showed a flash of teeth. Steel reflected there.

His gaze shifted to Ryker who took a step toward him. He couldn’t take on an alpha and an enforcer. Maybe one at a time, but not together.

He understood why Drew wanted the commitment from him. The pack was healthy again. If a wolf came along to upset the order the alpha had built, who knew what could happen. Blaine’s family had left because Magnum’s insanity had infiltrated all aspects of pack life. Drew worked on restoring the pack again.

If Drew wanted him to swear an oath, then Blaine needed him to do something in return. “I’ll pledge my loyalty to you through a blood oath, if you’ll support my choice of mate.”

Drew’s eyebrows went up. Ryker, true to form, didn’t blink an eye.

“Why would you need my support?”

“It’s Rebecca Ferguson.”

Ryker straightened, taking on a solid stance next to Drew. The discussion wasn’t a threat to the alpha in any way.

“Her father won’t allow it.”

“I know.”

“He’s alpha of his household.”

“I know.”

“Are you going to challenge him?”

“If I have to.”

“And you want me to sanction it.”

“Yes.”

Drew sank into his chair. “What does Rebecca have to say? The last time I spoke to her, she didn’t mention you.”

Blaine smiled. He hadn’t earned himself any favors. “She doesn’t know yet.”

“You expect me to support your claim without her being aware of it?”

“You expect me to swear a blood oath to you without assurance whether or not you’ll turn into your father.”

The menacing growl from Ryker vibrated through the room.

“You’re playing a dangerous game, Blaine.”

“All of us have done it for our mates.” He stared from one to the other.

News traveled through the wolf-grapevine. Drew’d had to gain his mate, Betty’s, trust when he returned to Los Lobos after she believed the lies his father told about him. Ryker had overstepped their laws by mating a human, something the old alpha would’ve killed him for. But Drew didn’t seem to have a problem with humans becoming part of the Tao pack.

“Elijah isn’t going to hand over Rebecca to you. He went to extreme measures to keep her safe.” Drew sat forward again. “Even with the new order, he’s still protective of her.”

Blaine didn’t budge. He knew what he wanted. And he rarely lost.

“I will sanction the challenge if Elijah concedes to it.” Drew shook his head. “And I have a feeling he will.”

“I’ll take the blood oath.”

“As simple as that.” Blaine nodded.

“You’ll obey the law of the land and the pack. Be committed to rebuilding the town. To protect. To serve.”

“I understand.”
Inge Saunders. The Wolf’s Choice (Kindle Locations 280-321). Decadent Publishing.

Elijah doesn’t want his daughter to be part of the pack, he doesn’t want her to mate with Blaine. His fear has to do with his experience and his reasons will surprise you.

A feisty tale, with fun, sadness, a challenge and plenty of sexy scenes.

A New 1Night Stand Novella! He Sphinx I’m Sexy By D.L. Jackson

He Sphinx I’m Sexy
A 1Night Stand Novella
By
D.L. Jackson

1cf2a-addtogoodreads

One night. One party of a lifetime. One deadly secret that could end it all.

All hybrids must die.
Not your average alien visitor, Lucas Saar has lived on earth for years, and there is only one reason he relocated to the green planet, to hunt down hybrids. These half-Terran, half-Saarian men and women could expose the existence of his world and his people, something that must never happen. He’s never failed a mission until Alaska, a year before, and now he’s determined to get back in his leader’s good graces by taking down a woman he’s tracked halfway across the globe.

When he discovers his target has signed up for the same dating service he tried to use in Alaska, he decides to use it again as cover to get closer to his prey. After all, the archeologist isn’t hard to look at, and there is something about her he can’t resist. Too bad he has to kill her when the date is over.

No more dating within my profession.
Doctor Nadia Crane is in Egypt, guiding her final class through a dig. She’s had bad luck with men and worse with her health. After a recent physical, her physician has determined her cells are mutating and she could be dying. Nadia signs up for Madam Eve’s 1Night Stand service, in hopes she may experience one night of bliss before she dies. A prearranged evening might get her what she desires, except, Lucas Saar isn’t what she asked for on her application. He’s an archeologist, and exactly the kind of man she didn’t want to date. Worse, her gut is sending up all kinds of red flags.

Now Doctor Nadia Crane isn’t sure if she should jump him or dump him. Only one night will tell.

KindleLogo ibooks-logo-150x150

Lucas believes Nadia is a half breed. Half Saarien, Half Terran. He also senses she is about to come into the change, a condition that he cannot allow. That is his purpose here, to find and destroy the half breeds before they can cause a problem.

She is finishing up on a dig with her archeological students after which she is going to have medical testing done. The doctors have told her there are mutation in her cells and they need to find out what is causing them before whatever it is kills her.

Lucas has been watching her for weeks, waiting for his opportunity. He took the form of a sphinx in the dig area in order to keep his eye on everything around her.

What he doesn’t expect is to find she is a pure bred and his mate.

Now he has to convince her of the truth and also help her show her ex what he will never have again, the last part to fulfill a wish of hers.

The happenings that evolve part from Madame Eve and part from her ex make this not only a very hot sexy read but also one with danger and excitement.

A favorite scene is in the excerpt below, don’t forget to read it.

5 Contented Purrs for D.L.!

“What the hell are you getting at, Lucas?”“You’re not from Earth. You’re Saarian.”

“You’re crazy.”

“No, not crazy.” He let the color of his eyes shift from fiery topaz, to green, bright violet, and back to amber. “And you are one of us. More to the point….” He ran his hand up and down her arm. “Mine.” No, he’d never been one to leash his dominant nature. She’d have to learn to deal with it—courtship or not.

“Yours?”

“Mine.” He gave her a satisfied smile.

“You lied to me about being my replacement. Who the hell are you really?”

“Lucas Saar, a Saarian tracker, and you, Miss Crane, are my mate.”

“Huh.” Nadia took the opportunity to ram her knee into his testicles, and, like any other male with a package in the south, he dropped to the floor, completely incapacitated.
“Help!” She ran for the elevator.

Lucas lifted his head from the tile. Help? Was she fucking kidding? His eyes started to water, and even though she’d put him in a bad position and a great deal of pain, he couldn’t help but chuckle. Okay, so she’d thrown down the gauntlet. Nothing like a little pursuit to get the blood pumping. Let the hunt begin.

Winter Blog Review

Xan Davis feels the call of the Black Hills even stronger after he almost kills an innocent human during a PTSD black-out. Arriving at Gee’s even before he can eat or drink anything he is fighting off the invisible. He has one chance to get this right and she is more than he bargained for.

Xan tugged on the cuff securing his left wrist and then turned and tugged on the right. His bladder seemed damn near ready to burst. He couldn’t hold it much longer. “Woman!”

“The name is Liv.” Back in her seat, watching him as he slept? This time in flannel pajamas and fuzzy duck slippers. And she still looked like dynamite with a short fuse. Awoooo, get you some of that.

She sat up and yawned, stretching her arms over her head and exposing a sliver of pale skin on her belly, lickable bare flesh, and all alone. His mouth watered. Nothing better to do at oh dark ugly, Doc?

He watched her, soaking in her every detail, from the curve of her cheek to the sky blue of her eyes. Xan yanked hard on both cuffs at once. “I need to take a piss.”

She nodded, rose, and ducked out of the room, disappearing down the hall. As her footsteps faded, he yanked harder. “Did you hear me?” Moments later, while he contemplated whether he should pee the bed or not, she reappeared, holding an orange jug.

He eyed it. “Oh, hell no. I’m perfectly capable of taking a leak on my own.”

“Give me your word you won’t hurt yourself or anyone else and you can.”

“Lady, I’m not letting you hold my dick while I take a leak in a jug.” Xan growled low in his throat and stared her down, daring her to take a step toward him and try it.

“I can get Ryker to help you.”

“Oh, fuck no.” He yanked even harder on the restraints. “He’s not touching my dick. He’s likely to rip it off.”

“Stop behaving like an animal.”

“I am an animal.”

“No, you’re a shifter, and I find it interesting you haven’t changed to get out of those cuffs. Maybe, like Gee said, you can’t.”

“What? Who the fuck told the bear I can’t shift.” He arched, gaining nothing but growing a shade angrier. “Set me free. This isn’t right, and you know it.”

“Give me your word.”

He opened his mouth and snapped it shut. If he didn’t have to piss so bad, he wouldn’t even think about it. But he did, and he sure as hell wouldn’t let her take Mr. Happy out so he could finish the mission. His damned cock was already way too excited at the prospect. “Fine. Let me go.”

“What did you say? Are you agreeing to my terms? Will you hurt yourself or anyone else?”

“I just told you.”

“No, you only asked me to let you go. You didn’t make any promises. Say it. I, Xan Davis, will not hurt myself or anyone else.” She jiggled the piss jug before him. “Say it, or I’m reaching down the front of your pants.”

“I may not hurt myself or anyone else, but this promise doesn’t mean I don’t have other ways to make you pay for holding me hostage.” On her back. Against the wall. From behind. Doc would pay.

“On your Alpha’s orders. I don’t make a habit of keeping prisoners in my home.”

He growled. And she better not hold any other wolves in her home. Her Alpha’s orders or not.

“He’s not my Alpha,” Xan snarled.

“Are the Black Hills not your home and the Taos your pack?”

“Yes.”

“Then he’s your Alpha. Give me your word.”

“I, Xan Davis, will not hurt myself or anyone else. Now unlock these damn cuffs and point me to the bathroom.”

“Under one condition.”

“More? You’re shitting me?” He groaned.

“No, I’m not. Promise to stay with me until you’re better…in this house.”

He slowly scanned the room and frowned. “With all this pink?”

“What’s wrong with the pink?”

“It’s disturbing.”

“What’s disturbing is how you’re fighting the help we’re offering. A smart man would take it.”

“Whatever. I’ll do it. Even if your home-decorating choices could be considered acts against the Geneva Convention.”

Some might say this doesn’t have very auspicious beginnings, but believe me when I say this book gets hotter in more ways than one.

I absolutely love the Black Hills Wolves and this book is no exception.

Winter Blog Review

Madam Eve is a specialist, one who manages to find the perfect match for the clients she excepts. This time however runs into a bit of a hitch. The boss her client references wants the date and the fantasy.

While I have often seen cold-feet happen in these tales, this is the first time I’ve seen it cancelled. Although that didn’t quite work out the way Lou thought it would.

A favorite scene occurs after they are almost caught by a colleague.

The heat of his body warmed her back, and he lifted her hair away from the nape of her neck to press a kiss there. “Relax, darling. You did great. I’m so proud of you.”

She didn’t know if he referred to Carl’s interruption or her earlier wanton submission. Wanting to sink into him, to lose herself in the arousal that came roaring back to life from the simple brush of his lips at her nape, she forced herself to stand stiff in his embrace. They’d barely escaped once; she couldn’t afford to allow him to take her over like that again.

“We can’t, Daniel.” Her breathy voice did little to convince either of them she meant the words.

“Don’t turn away from me now, Lou.” He rubbed small circles up the column of her neck, easing the knots of tension gathered there. Slipping higher, he massaged her scalp until she couldn’t hold in a soft sigh of pleasure. Damn, he had good hands. She let her lashes flutter closed, melting a fraction into his touch. Wrapping her hair tight around his fist, he tugged her head back in a sharp motion then fixed his mouth on the exposed side of her throat. The combination of the tingling pain in her scalp and the insistent suck of his lips sent her soaring. She couldn’t walk away from him now. Not tonight. Maybe not ever.

“Not here.” Yes, here, now! It took all her willpower not to drag her skirt back up and just bend over for him.

Daniel nipped her pulse point once more before easing his grip on her hair. “The hotel is still booked. I kept the reservation when you changed your mind about our date.”

What was he talking about? What date? He’d already mentioned something about her canceling their plans.

He made some space between them, giving her a chance to turn around and face him. Without his hands on her, she could think again, and a modicum of rationality returned. Coincidence she could buy, serendipity even, but she couldn’t believe they had been a random match. So, how?

“I still don’t understand how this happened. Madame Eve promised me complete discretion and anonymity.”

Tucking his hands in his pockets, Daniel paced a few feet from her and turned. “Ah. About that.” Gone was the confident, demanding lover. He looked nervous, abashed even. “A copy of your email found its way into the back of one of your reports. I know I shouldn’t have invaded your privacy like that, Lou, but goddamn it, I cannot say I’m sorry I read it. I contacted 1Night Stand and begged Madame Eve to set us up on a date.”

“Begged?” Lou should have been mad, but the idea of him reading her fantasies about him, along with being desperate to play them out with her, filled her with a sense of power.

One extremely hot night begins and almost stops again at the hotel. But ever resilient, Daniel keeps everything going just at a different pace.

This one has a lot of twists to it. Twists that make me wonder if Madame Eve has made her first mistake ever.
