Dating an older woman has lots of benefits, and #1 is upsetting all the right people.

Lane Calhoun is on a winning streak in his steer wrestling event. His family is thriving, and their reality TV show is breaking records. So why can’t he find happiness? Well, it could be that a passing fling splashed his favorite sex positions all over the news. And now that he’s been named the year’s most eligible bachelor, he’s through with dating.

When Delaney Monroe spies a gorgeous cowboy in chaps, hat and the sexiest grin she’s ever seen, she forgets she’s a forty-two-year-old midwife with a failing small ranch and a son in college to support. No way could she date a younger man. But as soon as she and Lane get within eyeing distance, all bets are off.

Hiding out in the bed of a hot older woman sure sounds cozy to Lane. He’s tired of cameras, interviews and worse, false people. He just wants a spell of peace—is that wrong? But between his struggles to leave the reality show and Delaney’s problem with him being a few years shy of her, their paradise could end up as a mudhole. He only sees one path to freedom, but getting out of the next year’s TV contract means the end for the Rope ‘n Ride show.

Winter Blog Review

There are many things I love about this series, but this book just made it to being my favorite in this series.

It’s not everyday you see an older woman with a younger man, especially with a significant age difference.

The moment Lane saw Delaney he knew he had to get to know her. The big problem was losing the cameras. Not everyone wants to be in the spotlight and Delaney sure didn’t want to be gossip fodder.

With a new article out in a magazine, he had far more intimate thoughts than just getting to know her when he was introduced.

This is a favorite scene, it has lots of well deserved language. I’m sorry for that, but I was laughing hysterically over this reaction.

He grabbed a beer and headed to a group of guys. They stood around bullshitting about the scores, and someone commented about him having the best year of his life. He only kept half an ear on the conversation, because he’d suddenly spotted the woman. Kashley was dragging her from person to person, introducing her to the family.

She held herself like a woman who knew her way around a horse. Shoulders back, head erect. She had a smooth gait that made him want to watch her all day. In jeans and boots, her honey hair trailing just below the shoulders of her black top. He couldn’t stop looking at her.

Then he was towed off to shoot some whiskey. After two shots, a magazine was shoved under his nose. “Have you seen the latest issue of Men’s Monthly?”

He dropped his gaze to the cover—him wearing a sly grin, his hat dusty as if he’d just come in from a ride. Probably had. But the words beneath his image had him wanting to upchuck all that good whiskey he’d just drunk.

Lane’s Ex Spills His Top 10 Sex Positions

Jesus, he had ten?

He nabbed the magazine and shouldered his way to a group of plush chairs set up in the corner. He’d barely flipped to the article before Ridge joined him, a whiskey glass in each hand.

“Figured you need one more.”

“Thanks.” He nodded toward a glass and chrome table, and Ridge set it down.

“What the fuck’s this shit? Who’s the ex?” It had to be one of two women, and he wouldn’t have believed it from either one. When he’d dated them, they’d seemed like normal girl-next-door types. He wasn’t into dating celebrities or the thousands of Buckle Bunnies wanting a piece of him.

He scoured the page to find a small snapshot of Brianna.

“Motherfuck.”

Ridge leaned over him to look. “Jeez, it was her? I never would have thought her capable.”

“Guess the money was too good to pass up.” He ground his teeth as he skimmed the article. Each sex position was labeled with a big number and a stick figure drawing of the arrangement of body parts.

He cringed. “Isn’t number 1 everybody’s favorite?” Up against the wall sex. He remembered having that with Brianna twice, but they hadn’t been together all that long. And they hadn’t had sex ten different ways.

“Hope she got paid well for making these up. I never did 2 or 3 with her. And what the fuck is 7?” He turned the magazine sideways.

“Your lucky number?” Ridge shot out.

He grunted and shook his head. “Sure as fuck never did that to anybody.” He rotated the magazine, trying to figure out just what body part went where.

“Hey, guys. We brought more whiskey. Thought you’d need it, Lane.”

He jerked his head up to see Kashley standing there with the beautiful relative. His heart hit his boots. He slammed the magazine shut and dropped it to the side table. As he got to his feet, he tried to look like he hadn’t just been reading his own favorite sex positions.

“Do you guys remember my Aunt Delaney?”

The older woman shot her niece a cool look.

“Sorry, just Delaney. No aunt.” Kashley slipped her arms around Ridge, and he pulled her close.

“Good to see you again,” Ridge said. “It’s been a number of years.”

“I’m sorry I missed the wedding.” She shook Ridge’s hand with the same sureness that she walked. This woman knew who she was, and it was sexy as hell.

Lane extended his hand, wondering if he should have wiped it off after touching that magazine. Freakin’ ten favorite sex positions—what the fuck?
He looked directly into her penetrating blue stare. “I’m Lane.”

Her lips quirked up. “You don’t remember me, do you?”

He laughed. “I’m sorry.”

“She lives out east. She hasn’t visited us for ages. My momma’s excited to see her.”

“And I missed the wedding.” Delaney’s voice sounded as though she’d downed a few shots already. A smooth, throaty sound that made Lane think of number 1 with brand new excitement.

“She was in Mozambique, working to provide women’s health care to several tribes,” Kashley piped up.

“Now that’s a noble cause.” He let his gaze skitter over her face, lightly kissed by the sun. She had a worldly look to her, right down to her eyes that looked like the reflection off an exotic sea. Where her hair waved from her forehead were a few glints of silver.

Now that he looked more closely, he detected a crinkle at the corner of each eye. She didn’t look to be much older than Kashley, yet she was no twittering young groupie either.

Her attention dropped to the magazine, and he inwardly cussed. Why hadn’t he thought to flip it facedown?

“Will you be staying with your sister?” he asked Delaney.

“Just for a night or two, yes. It’s nice to come to Tulsa to see Kashley. Then I’m back to work.”

“She’s a midwife,” Kashley put in. Lane shot his brother a look and received a slight nod of verification. They were looking for answers, and Delaney was part of that. Which meant Lane might be seeing more of the woman.
Petrova, Em. Lane (Rope ‘n Ride Series Book 5) (Kindle Locations 149-203). Kindle Edition.

Thus begins the pursuit. For Lane the pursuit of a beautiful older woman and for Ridge and her niece Kashley the pursuit of conception.
Of course there has to be some angst, so we have Delaney’s son to contend with as well.

Lots of fun and sneaking away from the cameras.

Winter Blog Blurb

Where there’s smoke, Maddox jumps into the flames.

Maddox has been battling California’s wildfires for years. As a smokejumper, he’s trained to take action first and think second, but when he sees the cabin his best buddy owned before his death surrounded by a wall of fire, he can only think of his friend’s widow.

Sydney came to the cabin to ready it to sell. The place holds too many memories for her peace of mind, and after three years of grieving, she’s ready to take a deep breath and move on. But she can’t do that smothered in her cabin.
When the smoke clears…

Maddox needs to evacuate the curvy vixen he has thought about too much since his friend’s passing, but the stubborn woman won’t leave. The team is short-handed, and she’s determined to get hands-on training. Cutting, shoveling, digging—all those things should wear out a woman of her size, but she still has amazing stamina in his bed—as well as bent over logs and pinned against trees.

The smokejumpers aren’t dropped into the danger zone with any water to fight the blaze, which is good because Sydney doesn’t want to douse what she has with Maddox. The sexy firefighter is everything she could want in a lover, and his link to her past makes her feel what they have is real. Until they’re back at base and no longer feeling the heat.

Maddox may never see her as more than his friend’s widow, but Sydney believes this is more than a danger-zone fling.

Winter Blog Review

Sydney is ready to move on, selling their getaway cabin was the next step in the grieving process for her. What she didn’t expect was for the real estate agent she came up to the cabin with to desert her in the path of a wildfire.

When the call comes in Maddox’s team is on route in a couple of minutes. This fire is personal, Rob and Sydney’s cabin is in this fire’s path. Before Rob died they had all spent time there relaxing and enjoying the company.

What Maddox didn’t expect was to find Sydney in the cabin, with no transportation out. After telling her to stay put he joins the others in fighting the fire.

This is a favorite scene.

She stopped and pressed her nose to the window, trying to see anybody out there. But the smoke was too thick and the sound of their saws was moving farther away. She jumped at the sound of every tree falling. She and Rob had cut plenty to keep their cabin protected from just such an occurrence, and they’d been attached to the trees left on their property.

She swallowed hard. “I can’t stay in here any longer,” she murmured to herself, fogging the glass.

Then she whirled away and whipped open the front door. Smoke poured in. She coughed and breathed more shallowly as she stepped onto the porch.

Looking around, she got her bearings. She was safe— the flames seemed to be held away from the cabin. The drone of saws that would have been in the special cargo drop shipment sounded on the west edge of the property.

She closed the door and took off for the sound.

With each step she took, her heart raced faster. She hadn’t felt this adrenaline rush since her last day on the job. A house fire with two victims trapped. She and her team had blasted in, found the people, and gotten them out without incident. They’d all been on a high after that, celebrating back at the station.

Later that night she’d gotten the news about Rob.

She strode faster, determined to not sit this out alone. She needed to be helping— needed to be in the thick of it with people she cared about.

And judging by the expression on Maddox’s face, people who cared about her too.

She spotted him first, hunched over a limb, busy cutting it off so he could shift it into the fire and not let it catch in the yard.

The hot wind whipped at her hair, and she wished she’d tied it back this morning. She swiped it off her face and approached Maddox slowly. Waiting for him to see her.

God, he was beautiful, silhouetted against the fog of smoke, his gear bulking him up, but she knew he was a big guy anyway. Broad shoulders, thick arms. His dark hair and eyes had caught the attention of plenty of girls, and she’d met several. Was he seeing any of them now?

It had been three years. He could be married with kids by now. She’d let herself get so out of touch.

She reached out and rested a hand on his shoulder.

He jerked and straightened, cutting the saw at the same time. The screen on his mask let her see his eyes, which widened in shock— and then narrowed in anger.

He knocked his helmet back and glared at her. “I told you to stay inside.”

“I’m going nuts. I need to help.”

“You don’t have any gear. Dammit, Sydney. I’m trying to keep you safe here.”

“There’s always extra gear in the drop shipment. Don’t you have anything on you?”

“No, Blaze and Lincoln carried a bunch in. I left before they opened the crate.”

That had her mind rushing forward. He’d set off to battle the fire before he was totally equipped?

“Why would you do that?” She had to raise her voice above the noise of thousands of acres of woods being consumed by flames and the buzz of saws.

“Because I made the mistake of stopping to think, and I had to get to the cabin.”

They stared at each other for a long second, and then he issued a low growling noise.

“Fine. Take this.” He handed her his helmet, and she shook her head. He thrust it into her hands. “Do it or go back inside, Syd.”
Petrova, Em. Fighting the Flames (Where There’s Smoke Book 2) (Kindle Locations 188-214). Hartwood Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Sydney gets some real tough on the job training as she works with the smokejumpers to kill this fire. But there’s more heating up than the fire. Maddox has decided she’s his, sort of and the sparks really fly.

Lots of hold your breath moments with lots of sizzling sex and of course there is some grumbling from Maddox when Sydney decides that she will become one of the team.

I look forward to the next book in this series.

Good girls go to Heaven. Bad girls go to Vegas. Especially when they’re alone on Christmas.

When Veronica finds herself on her own this holiday, she does what any sassy young female would do—she calls up her bestie and lures her to Vegas with plane tickets. What could be better than hitting the clubs, having a few too many and…getting your twerk on?

Cutter would rather trade his boots for one of those feather Vegas showgirl outfits than spend Christmas at his big brother’s. But when he does the bump ’n grind on the dance floor with a sexy little filly with the mouth of a trucker, he knows he’s about to get lucky. Except he’s too much of a gentleman—isn’t he?

Veronica will take standing beneath the mistletoe with the blue-eyed, sable-haired cowboy over Aunt Lenora’s fruitcake any day. After all, he’s so darn good at tying knots—with pretty much anything. With only a few short days together, and her friend occupied with two hunky waiters, she has nothing to lose. Except Cutter’s getting a little too intense for just a short fling. Good thing he doesn’t know her real name…

Winter Blog Review

Not wanting to go to her aunt’s place in England for Christmas, Veronica does the next best thing, books a trip for two to Vegas and convinces her best friend Julie to go with her. When Julie hooks up with two guys they meet in a club, she is approached by an honest to God cowboy. One who’s mere scent sends her thoughts to the bedroom and him naked.

Cutter comes to Vegas to be with his brother and his family for Christmas, but staying in their home quickly loses appeal with screaming kids and the couple fighting. So he quietly leaves and gets a room at a hotel. He decides on a club not in his hotel and meets a sassy beauty who quickly perks his interest in more ways than one.

His eyes crinkled at the corners as he stared down at her. The world did a loop de loop around her, and she didn’t think it was due to the remaining effect of the alcohol. She might not pass a sobriety test at the moment, but she was clear enough to know she was wildly attracted to this man.

“You wanna walk?” he drawled, indicating the crowded sidewalk ahead of them.

“Yes.” She needed more time to get her mouth to line up with her thoughts. Both were a little scrambled right now.

“I like your boots. I think I’d like them better under my bed.” She clapped a hand over her lips, her eyes flying wide.

Cutter was laughing again, a deep rumble that threatened to rip more naughty things out of her mouth.

“I’m sorry,” she said.

He brushed his arm against hers as their bodies naturally drew together like magnets. Goosebumps spread over her arm, and she raised the coffee to her lips again. The sooner she was sober, the better.

“Don’t be sorry. Tell me about Roni.”

She did a mental somersault. Who had told him about the name she had secretly used for her inner diva? The one who would sass her mom or have one too many—

It came back in a rush of techno music and flashing lights. She had given that as her name.

For a moment, she wondered if she should set him straight and then thought differently. What happened in Vegas stayed in Vegas, and she had no intention of seeing this man when she left. Why not let him call her Roni?

A light display caught her eye as they passed one courtyard. A tunnel was created from lights, with flashing swans at the end.

“Oooh, look!”

He gave her an amused quirk of his lips. “Wanna go in?”

“Duh!” Oh Lord, she still had too much rum flowing through her veins. She took several deep swallows of coffee.

At her side, Cutter’s shoulders moved with his laughter. “You’re an entertaining woman, Roni.”

She straightened and owned the name. That persona wouldn’t care about appropriate behavior, so why should she? They moved into a tunnel of lights so bright she had to blink. The red, white, and green seemed to go on forever, and by the time they spilled into a bigger light display with animated light-up figures and animals, she had finished her coffee.

Cutter reached for her empty cup and dumped it in the nearest trash bin. “You live in Texas.”

Her body hummed at the memory. Drinking always made her horny, but the man at her side… Whooeee, he could rival the male strippers in this town. The cowboy part of a show— on stage taking off boots, hat, Wranglers.

She decided it was best to stick with the truth about herself. After tonight, she may never see this man again, but if she did, she didn’t want to be called out on lies. She nodded and quickly decided that was the wrong action for her still-woozy head.

“I work for my father’s construction business.”

He grasped her hand and brought her fingers to his lips. “A construction business, hmm? These feel silky soft to me.” As his bristly five o’clock shadow tickled her flesh, a spear of want hit her. Along with a vision of him licking spilled rum off her fingers.

Oh God, she was going to do something bad again, wasn’t she?

She curled her finger around his jaw and went on tiptoe just as he leaned close.

“I’d like to taste you again. Do you feel like spilling your drink all over your body, sweet thing?” The way he drawled thing sounded as thang. Her heart tripped.

She felt herself nodding. “I’m clumsy like that.”

“Good. Let’s make it a date then.”
Petrova, Em. Jingle Boots (Rope ‘n Ride ON Series) (Kindle Locations 423-461). Kindle Edition.

While nothing happened that night they sure made up for it later. A holiday with enough heat to burn down the hotel. However Cutter knew he wanted more than just Vegas. The question was did Roni?

A quick sizzling read, that makes me want more of these characters. Not only Roni and Cutter but Cole, his children and Julie too!

review-fall-cornucopia

It doesn’t take very long for sparks to fly after firefighter Luke Puckett saves his once college flame Josie and her daughter from their burning home. Luke doesn’t want to accept he still loves her, not while he believes their was something between her and his brother. This in spite of the fact his brother repeatedly told him otherwise. This is a favorite scene as Luke goes to the hotel to see Josie. It shows how really conflicted his was.

Heaving a sigh, Luke paced the lobby of the hotel, determined to go up to Josie’s room and apologize for what he’d said. How was he going to do that though? He couldn’t just barge into her room and tell her he didn’t really love her.

Because it would be a lie. The instant he’d had her in his arms again, that burning ember of passion had flared to life once more. It had almost cut his heart out to leave her in college, but he couldn’t have her lusting after his brother. Couldn’t have married her, wondering at every family function if the pair were stealing a moment together.

Ryan wouldn’t have done that.

What makes you think Josie would have? He took another turn past the vending machines and steeled himself for what was to come. Heading on to the elevator, he punched the button of her floor. The unit lurched upward. He leaned against the wall and flexed his fingers. They were still a little sore after the fire. He really should wear gloves but they were so obtrusive. And he wouldn’t have felt her body through them as he carried her and the little girl out.

Maggie, she’d called her. A child born to an unknown man whom Josie had fallen in love with and committed herself to. What had happened between them? Had her gaze wandered from him too?

The old betrayal seized Luke’s chest. He’d carried this grudge against Ryan for too long. Thank God he’d never allowed it to come between him and his brother, because Ryan’s life had been too short, and Luke never would have forgiven himself for something like that. It was bad enough carrying it inside all these years. He’d thought the anger long-ago dead, but Josie’s appearance had resurrected it, like opening a door only to find a wall of flame ready to surge out and capture him.

Did he really want to go through with this? He could ride back down to the lobby, walk out of the hotel and never see her again. In a city of this size, it was possible. And now he didn’t know where she lived.

“No, I’m doing it,” he said quietly to himself. His shadowy reflection on the silver wall didn’t tell him anything about how he looked, but he could guess. He looked like a fucking mess— exactly the way he felt inside.

The doors yawned wide. Automatically he looked right and left, down each hall, a part of his training as inherent as breathing. He could no more stop himself from checking for danger than he could stop himself from loving Josie.

He strode down the hall, keeping his steps even. If not, he’d break into a run. The urge to see her again was that strong. What was it about her that sucked him right in? The streaky blonde waves curling over her shoulders, heavy and full of body? Her full breasts and hips tapering to an impossibly tiny waist between? Even after bearing a child, her waist was still trim, though slightly rounded in a way that enflamed him more than ever. But more than her appearance, he remembered her laugh and her sweet-as-honey disposition.

Fuck, he had it bad.
Petrova, Em. One Fiery Night (Firehouse 5 Book 1) (Kindle Locations 202-228). UNKNOWN. Kindle Edition.

Josie doesn’t really want to love Luke, but he has held a place in her heart even throughout her failed marriage. When she finds out the real reason he broke it off in college she is more than just angry she is fuming.
