review-fall-cornucopia

Right from the beginning you can tell these wolves haven’t been raised within a pack. This is the first family we’ve seen that was not originally from the Los Lobos pack. This is particularly apparent with Caress, she is a bit out of control and seems to want to cause conflict. Ravage brought his family here because his brother Raze is gay and many packs won’t accept this sexuality. Just another reason I love Drew!

Adrie is new to the Black Hills, she hasn’t been close to her wolf having been raised by humans. She was a teacher outside the pack and is now teaching in Los Lobos. Caress’ new job will be as her teaching assistant, while she finishes up her own degree.

I guess the whole not being raised in a pack somehow made the pairing between Adrie and Ravage seem more difficult as she is fighting her wolf. This is a favorite scene as they meet in person for the first time.

Did I make the right decision coming to Los Lobos? Will Caress be all right? Will Raze? He sniffed the air, something snagging his attention. The scent of sweetness, a hint of vanilla and jasmine. His Wolf smiled. Glancing at his watch, he was surprised to find three hours had passed while he’d been deep in thought. He rose and headed through the house to meet their new visitor.

Ravage opened the front door and leaned against the frame. He raked his gaze over the curvy woman in a skirt and form-fitting shirt. His perusal ended on her pixie-cute face and beautiful gray eyes hidden behind the ugliest pair of horn-rimmed horn-rimmed glasses he’d ever seen. “Hi, beautiful.”

“Hi. I’m Adrie. I figured since we’d talked on the phone so much, I’d come by personally and welcome you and your family to Los Lobos.”

“Nice to meet you. I’m Ravage.” He wanted to release her hair from the tight bun at the nape of her neck, let the tresses hang around her shoulders and face.

“I figured you’d be hungry, so I wanted to be a good neighbor and bring by dinner and sweet tea. We don’t have any quick restaurants nearby, and I thought you’d be too worn out from moving to cook, at least for tonight.”

She’s cute when she rambles on. His Wolf agreed. “Let me take that from you. Come on in. We haven’t done much yet, just unloaded our trailer.”

“I saw. Looks like you’re moving an entire state in with you.”

Ravage led her to the dining room, the only area with chairs unpacked, aside from the breakfast stools along the breakfast counter. As he set the containers on the table, he considered calling Caress inside but wanted to check out the sexy schoolmarm. “Please have a seat.”

She perched on the edge of a chair, a pretty blush staining her cheeks. Her gaze traveled from his bare chest to his face, to his chest again, and a lingering pass back up to meet his eyes.

Amused, he arched a brow. “Do I need to put on a shirt?”

“I, um…. You don’t have to on my account.” She looked at him from behind her glasses.

Interesting. He didn’t know of any shifters needing prescription glasses. He reached over and plucked them off her face. “Do you always hide behind fake glasses? You have beautiful eyes. It’s a shame you don’t show them to others.”

“Can I please have those back? The students take me more seriously when I wear them.”

“Hmm. I don’t know exactly what to make of you, Ms. Adrie.” He returned the glasses to her. “Would you care for a bottle of water? It’s the only thing cold I have on hand.”

“Um. No, that’s okay. I wanted to drop off the food and introduce myself. I’ve done what I came to do. Now, I can head home.”

“To eat alone or with your mate? You never said during our conversations on the phone.”

“Real smooth, Casanova.” Caress strolled into the room, bringing a horrible stench with her.

“I hope you’re going to shower.”

“Yep. I need a break. Everything’s coming along out there, though. I’m Caress.”

“Oh, nice to meet you. I’m Adrie.” She smiled, and his heart tripped. “You’ll be the one working with me, then?”

His sister gave a quick wave. “I’d shake your hand, but you don’t want fertilizer and my mixed compost leeching into your pretty outfit.”

“No worries.” The woman rose to leave. “I was in the neighborhood, dropping off dinner.”

“You might as well stay. My brother has this amazing way of getting females to do what he wants, and I think he wants you to eat with us… unless you have someone at home to get back to?”

“Uh, no.” She stared, a deer caught in headlights. “I only have some papers to grade in an empty house.”
Levey, Mahalia. Seducing the Schoolmarm (Black Hills Wolves Book 16) (Kindle Locations 223-256). Decadent Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Adrie feels the pull of mate and jealousy and more. But she continually fights her wolf. Ravage needs to help her trust her wolf instead of just human instincts. The sex is hotter than hot and he really is being as patient as he can.

An interesting view of the Black Hills Wolves, complete with new ideas and improvements within the pack. Also some questions of who Caress’ mate may be and Raze’s too. I really, really love this series with all the different takes on the matings and pack activities.

5 Contented Purrs for Mahalia.
