Kindle Worlds is Closing! Here are some of my favorite worlds and Authors within them!

Kindle Worlds will be gone forever
July 16th 2018!

This deeply saddens me, I have found many new to me authors by seeing them in these worlds.

It was always a place to find quick, inexpensive reads that blended with another author’s characters and settings.

I have heard that some of the World owners are going to continue them on their own and some will need to have an acknowledgement of the originating series before republishing. Yet others may go away completely. For some worlds no decisions have made as to their fate, as this news just broke.

This is a response to a reader friend from Amazon:

For five years, Kindle Worlds has been thriving, engaging writers and readers who enjoy writing in one another’s worlds, and we’re proud of the work we’ve done together. While we are closing Kindle Worlds, Amazon is constantly innovating on behalf of our authors and readers, and we look forward to continuing to do so.

As of May 17th, Kindle Worlds will no longer be accepting new submissions. Previously published Kindle Worlds stories will no longer be available for sale on Amazon.com on or around July 16th. The Kindle Worlds website will be closed on August 29th.

Rest assured previously purchased or borrowed Kindle Worlds stories will remain unaffected.

With that in mind and since the time is short until they are gone, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite Worlds and Authors from them. I hope you will take the time to browse through these links and possibly enjoy them as much as I have.

I put the link I have for the main world and then covers that link to Amazon for individual authors within those worlds that I have read and enjoyed.

I would also like to thank the owners of the worlds that so many wonderful authors wanted to play in, Elle James, Susan Stoker, Paige Tyler, Desiree Holt, Sable Hunter, Millie Taiden, Carly Phillips, Robyn Peterman, Cat Johnson, Eliza Gayle, Erin Nicholas, and Roxanne St.Claire.

I look forward to reading and reviewing many new books this year. Some by new authors and others by authors I have come to love.

Each new book I read is a journey to a new adventure, a new love and new experiences for the heroes and heroines.

Ryder and Pepper McCoy are the pampered sisters of the Highland McCoys – Heath, Philip, Jaxson and Tennessee. The brothers have always been over-protective of the girls, vetting every man who is brave enough to even ask them on a date. Both sisters are spirited, giving their brothers a run for their money – but one is about to give them a heart attack.

Two men are vying for the hand of Ryder McCoy, Samson Duke and his brother Gideon. But this isn’t a rivalry, the Duke brothers plan on sharing her. They are determined to lasso, corral, and mark the feisty filly with the DD brand. Resisting one of the Duke boys is difficult, keeping both of them at arm’s length may very well prove to be impossible. But who should she choose? One or both? Could she break one brother’s heart to gain the other? Ryder is torn between keeping the relationship with her family intact and following her own desires. To complicate matters, there’s more going on than meets the eye.

The Dukes and the McCoys may very well have a common enemy. When Ryder becomes the pawn in a madman’s scheme, all of the men who love her will have to work together to save her. Still, entrusting their baby sister to the wild, powerful Dukes is not something the McCoy boys think they can accept.

Will Ryder bend to her family’s and society’s expectations or will she surrender to what her soul and body craves? She soon finds out that true love doesn’t always follow the rules.

Right from the prologue we get a sense of Ryder McCoy, she always had to have two of everything. This is a favorite scene.

“Please, Papa, I want them both,” Ryder pleaded with her father, looking up at him with big, blue eyes shimmering with tears. She clutched two squirming lab puppies tight to her chest. “I can’t just leave one by himself, he would be so lonely.”

Christian McCoy dry-scrubbed dry-scrubbed his face. “Your sister and brothers each chose one puppy apiece. Why do you have to have two?” He let out a long sigh, meeting his beautiful wife’s amused gaze, as she watched on indulgently. “Two horses, two puppies, two dolls. What will be next?”

“Let her have them, dear.” Carolyn sat on a bale of hay, sewing a button on Tennessee’s shirt. “I swear, this boy is so rough on his clothes. He seems to rip off a button every day.”

“All right, all right, go.” He held up his hand and pointed toward the house. “Don’t let me see you with both those dogs up in the bed, Ryder. Make them sleep on the floor where they belong.”

“Yes, Papa.” Ryder jumped up and scampered off, her long, brown braid flying in the wind behind her.

“What’s up with our oldest daughter? She’s never satisfied with one of anything. Two cookies, two chicken legs, two candy bars. Ryder seems to think she has to grab onto everything with both hands or she won’t have enough.”

“All of our children are special, Christian. Ryder has a big heart; she has love enough for two.”

Christian went to his beloved wife and pulled her into his arms. “She must have inherited that trait from you. You make each member of our family feel like they’re the most special person in the world.”
Hunter, Sable. Ryder’s Surrender (Hell Yeah!) (Kindle Locations 53-67).Kindle Edition.

Now she is saved from a rattlesnake by one of the notorious Duke brothers and her world is about to change.

Samson and Gideon know from the start that Ryder is the woman for them. The one they would love forever. Now they have to convince her.

Her father recovering from several stokes, her brothers making her feel guilty and her sister and sister-in-laws standing by her side in what appears to me a never ending battle. That is until her brother Heath makes a mistake in judgement that could have a disastrous result.

This journey to loving two men isn’t an easy one for Ryder and this book had me in tears more than once. I laughed, cried, held my breath and cried some more.

I only have seven books in this series, now I am even more convinced I need to read them all!

A love is born from the flames…

What if you survived a car crash, but others didn’t? Would you carry guilt? Or be grateful that you survived?

For Brooke Winslow, she is faced with the demons of that tragic night when her world turned upside down. Until one cowboy steps into her life…

I truly love seeing Sable Hunter’s McCoy family through the eyes of different authors.

In this book we meet a distant relative of the McCoy’s, Tuff (Ted) who works on Tebow Ranch but lives in the guest house on the Winslow farm. Together with his brother Danny and sister Chelsea they all helped out the owner Miss Beatrice when they could. Now she is gone and the fate of the farm and their home lies in the hands of her granddaughter.

Brooke survived an accident in which the person at fault and her daughter died. She has scars both inside and out most from the accident and one from after. Although she is in a better place now, she is still hiding from others and herself. She needs a change, even her doctor sees that.

That change comes in an unexpected way. Her grandmother Beatrice died leaving her the farm she has only childhood memories of. She always wondered why her grandmother never reached out to her. Now she was going back there but she is determined  not to stay. She’s going to fix up what needs to be fixed and sell the place.

There is an instant attraction between Brooke and Tuff but true to form Brooke fights it. She doesn’t want to get close to anyone, doesn’t want to reveal anything about herself. It’s a good thing Tuff is the persistent type.

Rhonda hits some sensitive issues in this one and handles them very well. The budding romance, her attitude toward owning the farm, and her interactions with Tuff’s siblings all become milestones.

A perfect example of why I absolutely love the McCoy’s and everything I read of Rhonda’s. The excerpt below contains a favorite scene, don’t forget to read it!

He hurried and dropped down on his knees beside her. “Sweetheart, are you okay?”

She didn’t answer him, just continued to stare.

“Oh shit!” He grabbed her up into his arms and easily carried her through the front door. He sat down with her in his lap on the rocker and cradled her close, her head tucked on his shoulder, her even breathing in his ear. He gently combed his fingers through her hair. “It’s okay, baby. You’re okay. The fire is out. You’re safe.” He kissed the top of her head, her forehead, her cheek, and quickly on the lips, tasting saltiness. He lifted her chin, seeing the moisture from tears. “Brooke, tell me what happened.”

Her bottom lip trembled and more tears fell. His heart jerked in realization that he couldn’t stay away from her if he tried. He was bound to her. She gave her head a jerky shake. “I-I can’t…”

“Yes, you can. You’re safe with me,” he whispered, massaging her neck to ease the tightness he felt there.

“The pan, it caught on fire…I don’t know…the flames. I tried to save her. I did.”

His gut twisted. They were no longer talking about the fire in the kitchen. “Tell me, baby.” He comforted her. “Tell me everything. I’m here.”

Cowboy and former detective Vance Gallagher never thought he’d have a second chance to convince Rachel Henderson they were meant to be together, nor did he think he’d want to. Now, after seven years, thanks to his old police academy friend, Vance is knee deep in numbers and computers, determined to save Rachel’s ranch and his own heart.

Rachel hadn’t expected to see Vance again…ever. In fact, she planned on it. Saying goodbye to him had been the hardest thing she’d ever done, but she couldn’t handle her sister, the ranch, and his job as an undercover detective all at the same time. Now she’s with him every day and buried feelings just won’t go away.

The closer Vance gets to solving the mystery of the missing money, the more convinced he becomes that Rachel is the one for him. But when prize animals start disappearing, he has to choose between revealing the culprit and keeping the woman he’s always loved from harm. He just can’t catch a break.

I am loving Sable Hunter’s Hell Yeah! Kindle World. The way some of my favorite Cowboy authors are blending their characters in with Sable’s is fun and exciting too. Lexi’s Poker Flats series is a favorite of mine and it’s fun to see these characters away from the Nudist Resort Ranch. Add in Sable’s McCoy’s of Tebow Ranch and it just gets better and better, even if the circumstances aren’t fun.

In this book we meet Rachel Henderson, she is a woman who has always risen to the occasion and done what she needs to keep her family’s ranch going. It hasn’t been easy but now things have gone terribly awry and she needs help. She just didn’t realize that when she called her friend Hunter McKade he would bring someone from her past in to help as well.

Vance Gallagher came when Hunter called him to help with a ranch’s sudden financial problem. He just didn’t know the ranch in question was Rachel’s. He’d loved her and she broke his heart, but he knew he’d do everything in his power to help her.

As Vance investigates he also has to come to grips with the fact he still loves Rachel and surprisingly enough she still loves him. A favorite scene is a the end of the day when her foreman had called out and she works the ranch in his place.

Frustrated, she stomped up the porch steps and opened the screen door and front door. As soon as she stepped inside, she slowed as the coolness of the air conditioning hit her. After riding hard all day, something she rarely had to do anymore, the temperature of the house refreshed her.

She closed the door then headed for the kitchen. The scent of beef stew wafted by. She hadn’t seen Crystal’s car out there. Vance wasn’t cooking, was he?

Stepping into the kitchen, she halted. Lord have mercy! Vance stood at her stove in a red checkered shirt and tight blue jeans that hugged his ass beautifully. He was in the process of lifting a wooden spoon to his lips and tasting its contents.

The need to taste his lips rose hard. She grabbed the door frame to keep herself in place. “I ran a bath for you.”

Vance turned and faced her, a small smile on his lips. “After a day of riding, I thought you might enjoy one.” His gaze moved from her face, to her dirty shirt, to her jeans and dust covered boots.

Oh shit. Her body responded to his look like a mare in heat. Her clothes were suddenly too confining and she took a step forward as if propelled by instinct. She wrapped her arms around her waist to keep herself from moving closer. “Thank you.”

She should say more, but her mouth didn’t want to work. Neither did her legs as she told them to back away. Luckily, her stomach rumbled, letting them both know she was hungry. She flushed and pointed behind her. “I’ll head upstairs now.”

Tearing her gaze from his smiling eyes, she turned on her heel and practically ran out of the room to the stairs. She took the steps two at a time, anxious to put space between her and Vance. She was in big trouble. She just couldn’t think with him around.
Post, Lexi. Hell Yeah!: Cowboy’s Break (Kindle Worlds Novella) (Poker Flat Series Book Book 4) (Kindle Locations 773-788). Kindle Worlds. Kindle Edition.

This is the beginning of a new start for them one where they communicate with each other. Unfortunately it also answers questions that Vance needed to validate his suspicions on who is playing with the ranch’s finances.

Many twists and turns bring us to the end of this intriguing tale. Complete with a renewed romance and plenty of hot bedroom time.
