In Crashing Into Destiny, Diana reminisced about her friend Paloma being sent to The Sisters Of The Universe and them writing back and forth. This is Paloma’s story.

As Clay McQueen tries to get the Sister Sovereign to agree to a free robot with the capability to counterattack, to scan the skies around the premises. Paloma is behind the curtain half listening to the exchange while contemplating her own future. She has one more year and then she will be free of this hell her family exiled her to.

She is surprised when the Sister Sovereign instruct to her escort Clay from the premises. Frustrated he tries to engage Paloma in conversation. He needs to convince the Sister an early warning system of an attack would be beneficial to them. When she breaks all the rules and saves him from certain death she is instantly punished for her efforts in spite of the circumstances and her injury.

Appalled Clay tries to stop the beating and later returns with his brothers to try to convince her to leave with them. All to no avail. Then the attack comes and Paloma runs in the direction of the only people she has an acquaintance with, the McQueen brothers.

This is a favorite scene.

I must have run the entire night. Thomas had said to go north, and I did. They were strangers. They’d offered to help. Maybe they would now. I didn’t know where to tell them to send me. But anywhere had to be better than here. I was cold, wet, covered in ash and blood. There was nothing between the Sisterhood and Grayland. I reached the town in the middle of the night. No one was around to ask about the McQueens, but I didn’t need any assistance. I saw a lit cabin atop the hill. I stumbled toward it and managed to knock once before I fell over.

The door swung open, and the twins stood over me. They seemed to react all at once; Keith pulled me into his arms while Quinn touched my forehead.

“Paloma.” Quinn moved out of the way to bring me inside. “Clay and Tommy made their way to the Sisterhood to look for you, to see if they could help. I’m so happy you came here. Put her on the couch, Keith.”

“That’s what I’m doing, Quinn.” He didn’t, exactly. Keith sat on the couch with me in his arms. I wasn’t going to complain. I shook so much I might fall if he put me down. “Are you hurt? She’s shaking really badly.”

Quinn nodded once. “I’m going to get ahold of the doctor. Keep her there with you.”

“Not going anywhere.” Keith smoothed his hand over my cheek. “Does it hurt anywhere?”

“Everywhere. I’m sorry to put you out. I had nowhere to go. I didn’t know what to do.”

He shook his head gently. “This was what you should have done.”

The door swung open with a bang. Thomas and Clay strode into the room, both looking worse for the wear. Seeing me, they stopped.

“Oh thank the universe.” Clay dropped to his knees in front of me. “She’s here. Everyone is dead there. No one lived. They got everyone. And all I could think about was her. How we left her there.”
Rebecca Royce. Meeting Them (Kindle Locations 181-197). After Glows.

Lots of revelations in this one. Especially from the guys, they have a lot of secrets and their obsessions are the product of those.

Paloma herself has to face her past more than once and a surprise comes as their stories coincide.

A journey for all of them to find what they really need and want out of their lives.

Winter Blog Review

This final episode begins right where Dark Divine ends. With the rescue of Teddy and Bear, Hecate’s hell hounds and keepers of the sinew, from Hell. Unfortunately Samoan has managed to created a dark sinew, forcing the gods to close the portals to the human world. Lex and Desiree now have to find a way out of hell, and join the others in stopping the coming apocalypse.

This is a favorite scene right after the portals close.

Stuck in Hell with a Death Demon without the earth her Divinity half craved… The magic in the Underworld was heavy and dark. She needed to get home.

Folding her arms, she glared at Lex while trying to tamp down the rush of desire his presence caused. “I hope you know of a way to get back home.”

He grunted and pushed past her as if ending the conversation.

Oh no, he doesn’t. She whirled around and followed him through the living room to the study across from his bedroom. “There is another way out, right?”

Another grunt was her answer.

She pursed her lips and studied him as he pulled several books from the shelves. “What are you looking for?”

“A way out.”

Well, didn’t that answer her questions? She rolled her eyes and left the room. Fine. If he weren’t going to talk to her, she’d search for her own way home. Pushing out the back door, she scowled at the gloom of the Underworld. The air held hints of rosemary and sulfur. Reminded her of Samoan’s scent, only not as sweet.

Breathing deeply, she closed her eyes and called her Porter half to the surface, beseeching the lost souls she felt in every shadow of the Underworld to aid her in crossing to the natural realm. Instead of helping her, they attacked. Rushed around her, through her, raging like angry beams of light.

What the fuck? There were too many of them tearing at her. They called her a witch and thought she was responsible for trapping them there. Many even screamed in her mind. She curled into a ball on the ground, her arms wrapped protectively around her head.

Pain rocketed through her, and she screamed out as she blasted the spirits with everything she had stored up and hadn’t gotten to use at the castle. Instantly, they vanished.

Uncurling and pushing to her feet, she met the green eyes of a hellhound. He watched her with eyes much too humanlike. Then a shudder went through its body as it…shifted?

A moment later, Mathew stood in front of her. My son. Her heart lurched in her chest and tears filled her eyes. “Matty,” she breathed, making the kid narrow his eyes in curiosity.

“No one calls me that. Who are you?”

Chest tightening, she knew he wouldn’t remember her. Yet, she had to try. Tears filled her eyes. “I’m your mother.”

When she stepped forward, he backed up, shaking his head. “My mother’s dead.”

Anger rose up then. Samoan would die when Desiree found the bitch. “Samoan lied to you like she lied to me.”

Just then, darkness settled around them, making the gloomy realm almost lightless. The air grew heavier with black magic. It was as if something had changed the Underworld.

Matty looked at the sky and scowled. “It has begun.” Then he took off into the forest.
Lia Davis. Divine Awakening (Kindle Locations 102-130). After Glows.

What ensues from here is a race against the clock. The Divinities need to kill Samoan and get the dark sinew. Then deal with Kahn.

Things become tense in the human realm, as the divinities attempt to raise an army strong enough to beat whatever Samoan and Khan throw at them.

Never a dull moment in this one. As Matthew figures out that Samoan was indeed lying about his mother, he also chooses the Divinities’ side. All while keeping the extent of his powers a secret.

Lots of secrets revealed and an explosive conclusion.

You won’t be able to put this one down.

His darkest secret is revealed while her greatest fear comes to life.

New mother and Divinity, Lydia Rayners, is no stranger to heartache and loss. Her father, husband, and brother were taken from her by the demons, and now they want her son. Lydia will never let that happen, and she is determined to bring them down one by one—by herself if necessary. Her plans are going well until a certain sexy deputy discovers that she’s the rumored demon slayer and is hell-bent on stopping her.

Witch and deputy sheriff, Zach Manus, has run from his past for too long and it’s catching up to him now. He’s determined to keep his dark family secret hidden as he fights for control over his emotions and growing powers. His darker side controlled him once before, and he won’t let it happen again. But the closer he gets to Lydia, the more the darkness threatens to consume him, just as the gorgeous Divinity consumes his thoughts and threatens his resolve.

Zach is powerless to resist her, and while Lydia may understand him like no other, trusting her might unleash a new dark power that could destroy them both and put everyone they love in danger in the process.

review-fall-cornucopia

There is so much going on in this series, first we have the demons and their agendas. They want either the Sinew or to create their own, and they want the Dark Devine adults and children.

The Divinities on the other hand are the protectors of the Sinew and the Dark Divine and want to put an end to this war once and for all.

It seems Zach and Lydia have some secrets, secrets they are not going to be able to hide from the others any longer. But they are fated mates. this is a favorite scene.

He raised his lashes and held her stare. With a smile, he said, “Come on, you can lay him down in the spare room.

She followed him down a short hallway and then turned left into a… nursery. A nursery? Whirling around, she peered at him with a load of questions running through her mind. “This is more than a little creepy. Please tell me you’re not hiding a wife somewhere and that you didn’t lose a child—”

He pressed a finger to her lips, stopping her from saying anything more. “I’ve never been married, and have never gotten anyone pregnant.”

“Then what is this?” She motioned to the room, keeping her voice calm and low so she wouldn’t wake Logan.

He let his shoulders fall as he leaned against the doorframe. “I started on it after Cassia was born. Bethany had a hard time adjusting to motherhood at first and needed a quiet place to stay. So she stayed here with the baby.”

She frowned. “Bethany? I can’t imagine. She’s a wonderful mother.”

“She always has been. It’s more like the witch’s version of postpartum.” Zach motioned Lydia inside.

He was not telling her something, but she let it go. For now. “But why haven’t you taken down the crib? I mean, Cassia is sleeping in a toddler bed now, right?”

“I had a feeling that I’d need it.” He rolled up the sleeve of the blue button-down he wore. When he got the sleeve rolled up to his elbow, he turned over his arm. Lydia gasped, her heart beating so fast that she feared it’d leap right out of her chest. On the inside of Zach’s forearm were faded double roses connected to a vine that held a small bud.

She started to shake, but it wasn’t out of shock. Fear, glee, and confusion consumed her. She’d tried to deny it over the last few months. Hiding her own new faded rose that had appeared next to the Divine Rose she’d been born with.

Zach stepped closer and spoke in her ear. “Yours appeared, too, didn’t it?”

Afraid to speak, she just nodded. There was no use lying to him. He was an empath, he’d know before she spoke the words.

Things move fast in this book, Samoan causes more trouble and things keep just keep escalating. Loved every page turning minute as the Divinites have more and more to overcome.

Death’s Storm
The Divinities Book 2
By

blurb-fall-cornucopia

Technical genius and demi-goddess—a.k.a Divinity—Khloe Bradenton relies on no one for help, and she definitely doesn’t need comfort from anyone but her twin. After her parents were killed by the demons over two years ago, she graciously accepts her role in the war between the demons and witches. But when a creature far more dangerous than the ones responsible for killing her parents claims he is her guardian and steps in with help she never asked for, she is torn between her desire for the dark predator and memories of the painful loss she endured at the hands of her enemies and from those who claimed to love her in the past.

One of the last Death Demons still in existence, Jagger has pledged his life to the Goddess of Witchcraft, Hecate. Charged with guardianship of the Divinities—one particular spitfire, in particular—he was told never to approach them, but simply to aid from a distance. But when Khloe sacrifices herself to save her twin and best friend and thus becomes the demons’ prey, Jagger has no choice but to reveal himself to her. However, he is taken by surprise when the desire to claim her as his own emerges, and his need for her burns hotter than her Fire. But in the midst of the war, their feelings for each other could prove more dangerous than the demons out to destroy them.

review-fall-cornucopia

Let’s recap a bit, we have two missing Divinities, The younger divinities have bonded and they have the Sinew and it’s protector the One of Hecate’s HellHounds Teddy-Bear<giggle>. Things have been quiet but the Divinities know something is going to happen. They know Kahn and his son Demetrious are not going to stop until they get what they’re after, the Sinew. There’s also Samoan, Demetrious’ daughter, she really hates Kalissa and Khloe and loves trying to best them. She has now targeted Khloe and the things she does have very interesting results.

Khloe has a shadow, she verified this while shopping with her sister Kalissa and the very pregnant Lydia. Now as they are leaving the mall she senses something much darker than the shadow she’s discovered and sends Kalissa and Lydia home while she stays to fight.

The fight turns out to involve a lot more demons and more powerful ones than Khloe expects and even with the help of her guardian she ends up cuffed to suppress her magic and seriously injured.

Jagger and his brother Jax are the last Death Demons and have sworn fidelity to Hecate. As such they have been appointed by her to protect the Divinities. When Khloe is almost captured and cuffed under his watch. Jagger is forced to reveal himself to her and the decision is made to keep the twins apart until they know why the Demons want them.

Then the Oceanway Coven is attacked and Dark Divine children are kidnapped. So much for keeping Kalissa and Khloe apart. This is a favorite scene.

Glancing to his temptress, he noticed Khloe dart off across the small community. A double take had him rushing after her. The twins were supposed to stay separate. What the hell was Kalissa doing here?

With quick strides, he made his way to the twins, who were locked in a tight hug. The rush of panic subsided as he observed the females. Frozen in place, he watched as magic swirled around them in iridescent waves.

“Ayden Daniels.” Kalissa’s mate stood in front of him with his hand extended.

Jagger gave a short nod and accepted the other male’s hand. “Jagger. I guess there’s no way to keep them apart.”

Ayden chuckled and sent his woman a hungry gaze before speaking. “No. They’re a package deal.”

What the hell was that supposed to mean? Khloe was his to claim. His body coiled with possessiveness, and he had to stop himself from carting her far away from everyone until she agreed to be his mate.

Ayden flicked his gaze back to Jagger, brow raised as if the man had read his mind. Then with a shake of his head and a smile lifting the corners of his mouth, he explained. “I meant that they can’t be separated. Lo is my sister now, and my bond with Kalissa ties us together, too. It was pretty weird at first.”

Ah, that made sense. Magical twins had an unbreakable link. They were a part of each other. Through Kalissa and Ayden’s mating bond, Khloe was also tied to the couple. And her future husband would complete a quad circle of power.

This newfound acknowledgement raised alarm in him. The trio was a powerful force, one the demons wanted. Were they trying to snag one to lure in the other two? Possible. He wanted to take Khloe’s arm and drag her back to her condo until he could figure out their next step.
Davis, Lia. Death’s Storm (The Divinities Book 2) (Kindle Locations 980-996). After Glows. Kindle Edition.

This is the beginning of so much more. We learn more about the captured divinities, the twins parents, the birth of Lydia’s child and what the demons are after.

Khloe and Jagger are the main focus and his parentage is very interesting too. How these two get together is a big part of the suspense.

This is a series that is not to be missed.

review-fall-cornucopia

Once again Lia Davis has created a world to get lost in. While mostly like your average places to live today, Maxville is a not only a small town it is a coven, surrounded by wards to keep those that would harm out.

There is a lot going on in this book. To begin with Demons are killing off the Divinities. Created by the Goddess Hecate they are tasked with protecting the Sinew, source of the Divinities Power.

Divinity twins Kalissa and Khloe lose their parents to a horrible car accident that was caused by a demon. Eighteen months later with no investigative results from their friend, empath, witch and deputy sheriff Zach they decide to go through their parents things for clues.

What they find leaves them with more questions and instructions to be followed. In the process of following those instructions, Kalissa is involved in what could have been a fatal crash.

At his cousin Zach’s request Ayden, also a Divinity, who is traveling to Maxville to take the position of sheriff, goes to Kalissa’s aid.

Years ago Ayden was sure he was her magical mate. The one he would spend his immortal life with, but she turned from him and claimed another was. Leaving him heartbroken and angry.

A favorite scene is at the hotel after he pick her up from the hospital.

Her reaction to him at the hospital was that of an old friend seeing him for the first time in fifteen years. Buried pain resurfaced. But he couldn’t resist touching her. It had gone downhill from there.

She was the same Kalissa he’d fallen in love with over fifteen years ago, but she didn’t remember him. Ayden, like the rest of his family, was empathic. Being a Divinity only amplified the empathy, and, combined with his very rare power of adaptability, gave him the ability to pick up on others’ feeling and thoughts. He’d grasped on to Kalissa’s gift of visions and had used it with his empathy to see into her mind. And into the past. There was a hole in her memory. His anger dissolved into confusion. Hope sparked into a tiny flame. That flame grew with every minute they were together. Who would erase her memory? Better yet, why erase her love for him but  not all of him from her memories? How in the hell was that even possible?

The main reason for invading her memories, besides being a selfish bastard, was to find out why she’d dumped him for someone else so many years ago. He hadn’t expected her memory to be altered.

Is this my second chance? Can I trust her with my heart again?
Davis, Lia. Forgotten Visions (The Divinities Book 1) (Kindle Locations 421-431). After Glows. Kindle Edition.

It becomes apparent at this point that Ayden and Kalissa are definitely true magical mates. Yet with no real memories it’s going to be a struggle. They both have to pick up packages from the same place and the full mission for the divinities becomes clear, well as clear as mud for a while.

Lots of action with demons, elves, a wood nymph, more Divinities and OMG laughing so hard, Teddy-Bear!!

This is a must read for fantasy lovers, romance lovers and yes, shifter lovers too!

This book was a gift in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Right off the bat I love this world. It didn’t take long to find the key to enter this realm and open the door. I just don’t think I would have been as calm as Ava if my life turned to crap as quickly as hers did. I totally understand why she just wanted to get away after all that. She just had no idea how far she will really get away.

King Finn is the first person she meets on the other side. He is both surprised and shocked to see her. She is the one he has been looking for, the hybrid that the prophesy foretold. Now he has to convince her that she belongs in this world with him.

Ava’s parents had apparently kept a lot of things secret from her. The biggest one they were elves, her father a light prince and her mother a dark princess. Now she is in their realm and has to somehow save it and bring back the magic.

Finn gets his powers from the light and according to him, her magic is both dark and light, so she should be able to draw on either. This is a favorite scene, after an encounter with Finn’s Uncle Quinn who wants his throne.

Kellam spoke from the window. “She’s a Fire Elf.”

Finn studied her for a long moment. “No, I think she’s purely elemental. At least, that would make more sense because she is both Morna and Calim.”

“I still don’t want to believe it, but I can’t explain what happened out there.” She wrapped her arms around her waist, refusing to fall part. Not again. She’d done that once, when her parents died. And she’d vowed to be stronger.

“Come sit. Please.” Finn patted the couch cushion beside him.

With a sigh, she sat. “Why didn’t I have any of these powers before? And what triggered them now?”

“Simply being in this world could have triggered your magick. Like I said before, we are almost powerless in the human realm.” Finn caressed her cheek.

“You burned Quinn, wounded him.” Kellam glanced at her, one side of his mouth lifting in an approving smile.

Ava glanced from Kellam to Finn. “So my parents really were the elf couple that started the war.”

“Yes. I know it more now than ever.” Finn framed her face and pressed his lips to hers.

Desire flooded her in a hot wave. But too soon, he pulled away. “And only my fated mate could share her power with me.”

Her heart slammed to her feet. His fated mate? As in bride. She shook her head. “I don’t think—”

He placed a finger over her lips, stopping her denial. “I will not push you. The choice is yours. But you should know that I’m willing to do anything to make you mine, including seducing you.”

This is a fast paced read, with lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes. Nothing like trying to get to know someone while others are trying to destroy you both.

5 Contented Purrs for Lia!
I can’t wait to read the next author’s interpretation of this new world.
