Three years ago, Stacie Vandercoy was stuck undercover in Iraq with Jeff “Rock Star” Lennon, the arrogant SEAL who thought he was God’s gift to women. But he couldn’t have her. Fraternization is against the rules. Once again, they are pretending to be husband and wife but this time in Norfolk, Virginia. Can she still resist his brilliant smile, granite body and attentive personality?

Jeff Lennon had been forced to do things he didn’t like as a Navy SEAL, and as an agent for the terrorist division of Homeland Security’s Border Patrol. For years, his only real regret has been what had happened to Stacie back in Iraq. He’s been given another chance to make amends and prove he’s not the man she believes him to be. Then, maybe, he can claim her heart, body and soul. In the meantime, they have to stop a terrorist attack somewhere in the Norfolk area, during Fleet Week.

Even the agency’s psychologist isn’t sure Stacie can pull off pretending to be Jeff’s wife. Will Stacie and Jeff break the rules to assure the mission’s success?

Winter Blog Review

This book was a gift in exchange for a fair and honest review. If you haven’t read the Cancun Series, you would benefit by reading at least Captivated in Cancun. It’s where we first meet Jeff and Stacie.

Jeff and Stacie will join with Nathan, a Navy Seal and his pregnant wife Juls, who are already undercover. They had all worked together in Iraq, a mission that didn’t go so well for Jeff and Stacie.

From the beginning this book was intense. Jeff is to be Nathan’s recruit one already indoctrinated and ready to take his place in the terrorist’s plans. Stacie once again playing his wife, is a by the book girl and has never slept with Jeff, the whole fraternizing thing. She is worried she won’t be able to keep her distance this time. Fortunately she gets a green light on that.

From the moment they come together, the sparks fly and I knew that the intimacy that is expected between the couple wouldn’t be a problem. However, I got a real bad feeling about Jeff being a truck driver.

I couldn’t put this book down. There are many hold your breath, heart-stopping moments and a love story to bring the laughter and the tears.

Well done KaLyn!

Winter Blog excerpt

The agency psychiatrist took a deep breath. “Now, before I’ll certify the two of you for this op, I want to see you kiss.” Stacie lifted her eyebrows. She didn’t bother to withhold her shocked response.

Kiss Jeff? The last time they’d kissed, she’d slapped his face. They had just finished a beautiful slow dance at Jack and Jillian’s wedding in Cancun. She’d had a few drinks and had been feeling pretty mellow.

Swaying in Jeff’s arms had seemed the most natural thing in the world to be doing. He’d been singing the words to her, his hot breath like a caress on her ear. He’d laid his lips on hers, and she’d floated to heaven. When he’d deepened it, she’d gladly opened for him.

But when she’d felt his hand on her breast, gently squeezing it, the memory of— She’d stepped back and slapped him. Right across the face. Hard.

After a deployment romance that ended disastrously, Lieutenant Commander Caroline Hodges vows never trust another man. Joining her roommates for some fun in the Cancun sun, she runs into the lover who had dumped her in Navy flight school. A temporary, vacation fling may be perfect solution to her wounded heart.

Luke Thorstad had been thrown into the limelight, and the arms of dozens of willing women, in flight school when he’d become an unintentional hero. His biggest regret, ever, was leaving Caroline Hodges in the shadows. Finding her in a Cancun night club was his chance at redemption, and maybe the future they’d been denied years ago. But he’ll have to break down the walls she’s built around her heart.

Winter Blog Review

Ah the Caribbean, the blue water, the warm breezes, romance. Once again we start off in the Mayan Nites Nightclub, sipping drinks. From Christmas in Cancun we know this is the place to be to meet up with the crews of BACatamarans and Luke Thorstad, owner of Jurikan Helicopters. All friends and ex-military.

That said it is not so unusual that four Navy pilots would gravitate to this club while on post-deployment leave. Did I mention these pilots are female, no? Well they are very sexy females and looking for fun, umm all but one of them. Caroline (Mouse) Hodges came along to relax and re-evaluate her life and career.

She was sitting alone when a blast from her past approaches. Cool Hand Luke as he is known to them, a hot shot pilot from flight school. She’d had a relationship with him and then didn’t. Funny how that hurt can surface so quickly as can the memories of how good they were together in bed.

An panty melting apology, a walk on the beach, a storm with stormy memories, leads to a night of sizzling sex in a palapa on the beach. With this as a promise to gain forgiveness.

Luke twirled her to face him and grabbed her arms. “I never collected souvenirs from the women I’ve been with, and you, of all people, know there’s been a lot. But hear this, Caroline Hodges, none of those women have ever come close to what you mean to me. I’ve never regretted anything as much as the way I treated you in flight school.” He drew her into his arms and held her tight against his body, wet shirt to wet dress. Heart to heart. “I promise to give you an orgasm every day that you are here in Cancun, if you’ll forgive me for being an ass back then.”
She’d already forgiven him, but he didn’t need to know that. She took responsibility for her own part in what had happened years ago. They’d both grown up during the war.
“Two.” She lifted her head off his shoulder to look at him, read the truth or lie in his eyes.
She was willing to play with Luke for the week she was there. He was good for her recently smashed ego. She relived the humiliating moment she’d overheard Robert and the jet jocks talking about his upcoming wedding in Hawaii. The pain she’d forgotten while with Luke now pushed on her heart, but it wasn’t anywhere near as devastating as it had been.
“I want two, every day… or night… while I’m here.” She was recovering nicely. Perhaps by the time Luke had given her multiple orgasms, her memories of Robert would be vanquished into the past. She could throw them on the pile of mistakes, never to be repeated again. Lesson learned.
His body aligned with hers, warming her from the inside out. But it was his smile reflected in his eyes that sealed the deal.
“I solemnly promise you, Caroline Hodges, at least two orgasms in every twenty-four-hour period while you are here.”
His kiss confirmed the pact.
KaLyn Cooper. Conquered in Cancun (Kindle Locations 516-529).

One week extends to two and I felt like I was there for every moment.  Snorkeling, sunning, learning to dive, flying around and sweet revenge on a cheating bastard trying to ruin her career.  I almost forgot to mention the sizzling, can’t keep their hands off each other sex, it was anything but forgettable.
