Review Spring Blog - Copy

Rachel has had so many ups and downs in this series. There is also the problem of what was real and what was not. A very unsettling reality.

In this final episode, Icahn holds the women and children hostage to get Rachel. She needs the wolves cooperation to take him down or all will be for naught. So she makes the Alpha Andon a deal one he wouldn’t refuse. This was a difficult yet page turning read, with many twists and turns.

So with love, courage and strength this story winds to it’s close. Thank you Rebecca for the journey.

As a teenager, I would hide in my room to read my favorite romance novels when I was supposed to be doing my homework. I hope, these days, that my parents think it was worth it.

I am the mother of three adorable boys and I am fortunate to be married to my best friend. I live in Austin Texas where I am determined to eat all the barbecue in town.

I am in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and try to use all of these elements in my writing. I’ve been told I’m a little bloodthirsty so I hope that when you read my work you’ll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. I love to write series because I love to see characters develop over time and it always makes me happy to see my favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.

Winter Blog Review

If you haven’t read the first 2 books go do that now, I added the links to buy them below. It really enhances your reading experience.

Drew is still in a coma and the bullets aren’t working their way out as was hoped. With the discussion of surgery, Betty needs family around. All this stress can’t be good for her unborn child. She needs to take care of herself better.

Magnolia (Mags) is Betty’s sister and she has a secret, she is in love with a human mystery writer Clayton Davies. She meets him every day at the Perkulator for coffee even though she doesn’t like coffee.  Since he’s human she thinks its impossible to have him, even though he is her mate.  When they share a first kiss she runs from him to save him, and ends up going to Los Lobos with her father to be with Betty. Her pregnant sister needs the soothing calmness of her omega wolf while she is under so much stress.

Nobody, least of all Mags, expected Clayton to follow her to Los Lobos. When he does Mags admits she is his mate to Ryker to keep him safe.  Right after this little revelation is one of my favorite scenes.

“Can you shift?”

Her eyebrows shot up. “Right now?”

“Unless you have something else to do.” Like an appointment he didn’t know about.

She stepped back dropping his hand. “It may freak you out.”

“I’ve seen a lot of really bad things in  my life. There’s a reason I was a cop for only five years. I decided if I was going to run around in the muck of the world, it might as well be from my own imagination. Your carrying the soul of a creature I admire for it’s loyalty? Not bothering me.”

A tear slipped from her eye, and he reached out to bat it away. His spine stiffened. Mags should never, ever cry.

They didn’t expect Ryker to accept his help with their investigation either. Clay had been a police detective and can look at the murders from a different angle. Being human and mated to a wolf he can also be bait.

This book is different in that we have a female wolf mating a human and the murderer speaks to us, sort of. Telling us he is smarter than everyone, and also telling us what he is planning next.

LOVE the romance, LOVE the build up, and OMG the ending! Can’t wait to read the next one. See below for the links to the other two so you can catch up!

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

All Drew wants is a happy pack, a healthy and prosperous pack. He has made great strides and with Winter Solstice approaching, he agrees that wolf and human should have a celebration. It would encompass all the holidays celebrated by the humans in his pack. Even the Solstice run would have the humans included.

A toy train mysteriously appears in the square, no scent or tracks to suggest who put it there. The toy is the work of someone gone from the pack for two decades, kicked out by Magnum for some unknown offense. Stewart now lives on Mount Carter, a hundred miles away. Drew wants answers so he will go up the mountain to get them, much to  his mate’s and enforcer’s chagrin.

His mate Betty has issues. While she loves him I don’t feel she is doing the things an Alpha’s mate should do to make the pack stronger and more unified.

By issuing an invite for all former pack to come and blood oath to him, he has made Ryker’s job harder. There needs to be more screening of those returning.

The trip up the mountain is not without incident, a Mother bear and her cub, begin causing havoc.

My favorite line in this story comes from Betty after Stewart expresses his desire to deliver gifts for the pack’s children.

“He can be Santa Paws.” B giggled.

Relationship issues of the Alpha pair need to be resolved as well. For this holiday to be the bonding that Drew wants it to be, things must be handle quickly and with diplomacy.

A fast paced, read with love, hot sex, friendship and angst.

Yes, Santa Paws is coming to town.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This book was a gift in exchange for an honest review.

Rachel is now living in Redemption. Followed around by Icahn’s sons Darren and Liam, she is still plotting and planning.

Sent on a mission of sorts to administer the Vampire virus antidote to Anton, so he can help the brother’s over some problem with one of their many experiments.

Her agenda is different though, she needs to kill Jason, even sane, he is a danger to her and she will not let him take her out.

As with most well thought out plans, this too goes awry. She is discovered by Deacon, Micah, Chad, and Glen then brought to Genesis and placed under house arrest.

Surrounded by all the things she has been trying to avoid, does Icahn really hold the key to her freedom or will she find a way to get out and continue with her plans.

There are many surprises in this book, not quite as OMG plot twist as ‘Subversive’ but they are right up there.

I can’t wait for the next one in this series, Justice!

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This book was a gift in exchange for an honest review.

As the tale continues we now know of all the Outsiders. In this one the Outsiders are living in the caves of their ancestors. Marina, who lost her memory in a magical blast six months ago, feels as if she is a kidnap victim. Still no closer to regaining her memory, Drew decides to use tough love and issues a challenge to her in the chamber where their parents failed to capture the demon, leaving her surrounded by evil, to find her way out of the maze.

Since nothing is ever easy, Sebastian attacks with earthquakes and transports Marina to St Croix where Alexa awaits her. Alexa is but a shell of what she might have been, craving blood instead of food, I almost feel sorry for her.

Just as Drew is about to open himself to Sebastian in order to find her, Marina gets it all together, and by all together I mean WOW together. This is part of the conversation, when they are together with Alexa and Sebastian pops in, one of my favorite scenes.

“Sebastian.” Alexa pulled herself out of Marina’s touch. “You have to help me.

You have to tell me what to do.”

“No one has ever told you what to do in more lifetimes than I can count.” Marina spoke only to Alexa and it finally dawned on Drew what was going on. Marina had gotten her powers back and she’d really possessed them this time. Things she’d always been able to do but hadn’t worked out how to tap into yet before she lost her abilities flooded through her. Marina had never once been able to see past lives before. Every other word out of her mouth was about things the rest of them couldn’t know.

That couldn’t be normal.

“Sebastian.” Drew stepped toward the demon and stared right at him so the creature would know Drew did indeed see him. “You have no place here. Be gone with you.”

“No.” Sebastian hissed. “It’s the two of you who have no business being in this world. It belongs to me. Always has, always will. And I’ve taken steps. You’ll never even know it happened. This is my turn. Mine.”

“Oh, for the love of…” Marina snarled and waved her hand in the air. The demon’s eyes got big before he vanished from the room.

Drew cocked his head to the side. “That’s so fucking cool.”

“He was boring me.”

“You made him go poof.”

She grinned, the first real smile she’d bestowed since he arrived. “Yeah, I did.”

Once again lots of stuff going on, We find out about a scribe, the others find out about Gia, Rachel and Zane. Sebastian’s mother shows up. They all end up at a beginning and damn this book is too quick to end.

Waiting impatiently for the next installment of this series.

I did find a few grammatical errors, but they weren’t enough to distract from the excitement. Mostly missing words. An example. She shoved them her pocket hoping Marina didn’t notice.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This book was a gift in exchange for an honest review.
Now seventeen, Rachel has taken fate into her own hands and has learned the art of explosives from her father. Now the younger Warriors are on a mission to attack first, instead of watching and waiting.
When Andon smells danger he decides to move the pack, so of course that means Jason will be leaving her again. One of my favorite scenes is Rachel’s conversation with Andon before they leave.

“First, I would like to say I know you believe I’m moving the pack as a means to punish you. That isn’t true.”

I shook my head. “I don’t require reassurances from you.”

He ignored my words. “I’m moving the pack because I sense danger, and it’s my duty as Alpha to keep us all safe. You’d be welcome to come with us.”

“See? I told you that.” Jason looked as if he’d been given the best gift on the planet.

“Thanks for the invitation, but as I’m sure you’re aware, I have no interest in being in your presence.”

“If you and Jason are to stay together, we must find a way to get along.”

“I see what you’re doing.” Part of me wanted to poke him in the chest with my index finger. The other part wanted to run away. So I stood still. “You’re being so kind, so easygoing, and I end up looking like the difficult one. You needn’t bother. Jason  already thinks the sun rises and sets on you, whereas he sees all my flaws. And points them out too.”

Jason thought me goodness and light, which was part of the problem, since he tended to be confused when I acted in a not-so-nice way. He took a step toward me, but I took a step away. I didn’t want him near me right then.

Andon snarled. “I am not your enemy.”

“Yes, you are.” Tears streamed down my face because I knew I had to say what was on my mind. It might tear Jason and me apart for good if I spoke my thoughts, but it was past time. “And you always will be. No matter how much other people wish it was different.

Silence swept around us on the cool breeze that threatened to become frigid as the sun set on our evening. No one spoke. If I had to guess, it was because I’d shocked Jason and because Andon was plotting his next move.

Jason leaves, again, this time with Rachel’s blessing. Then attacks take on a more brutal force. Andon had initiated things that can’t be taken back.

This book has the most profound plot twists I’ve ever read. It left me guessing as to the truth in anything from the previous books.

I can’t wait for the next one in this series, Redemption!

Armageddon…the end of humanity.

When Rachel Clancy changed the lives of everyone around her, she was unprepared to deal with the consequences of the aftermath. Sent back into the wilderness, Rachel finds herself face-to-face with the two people she never thought she’d encounter again: the boy she supposedly loved and the one man who wants to destroy her.

Now it’s up to Rachel to determine their fate. There may be a chance for everyone to start again, but if she fails, all is lost.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This series just gets better and better. Now with everyone living above ground in tents the tension is higher than ever. More Warriors die every day as the Vampires get closer and more numerous. Chad and Rachel are sent on a journey to get help from Liberty the habitat two hundred miles away. Unfortunately they don’t get very far, but they do make some startling discoveries about both the wolves and the vampires.
Lots of excitement, saving Jason and his sisters from vampires , meeting wolves up close and personal and finding more warriors and humans in a unique way.
But running into Issac Icahn again was quite informative. He wants Rachel dead, and she wants him dead.
My bets are on Rachel. While there is some romance, Rachel wants no part of the physical and is sticking to her guns on that. She is only 16 so there is no hurry.
A quick read but by no means short. This one grabs ahold and doesn’t let go till the very end.
I can’t wait for the next one in the series releasing September 29th.

Christophe Roux has always known he was different. Born to a wealthy French family, he has never told anyone that he is frequently thrown through time and space to visit with ghosts and other terrifying creatures. But now he knows he is an Outsider and moreover that he has a soul mate somewhere out in the world waiting for him. When his brother is taken, he heads to Maine to search for help, never expecting that his love is the woman he has lusted after for years.

Ruby Brannon lived her childhood on the run and her adulthood trying to make sense of the strange things that happen to her. Now, she’s with the Outsiders but she is still unsure if she’ll be able to step up when it’s her turn to fight the evil seeking to destroy them all.

Together, Ruby and Christophe will change the fates of the Outsiders. Or die trying.

SummerBlog My Review

As the tale continues we get to see more and more of the Outsiders and their past. While mainly about Christophe and Ruby, we also meet the rest of the outsiders. They haven’t all met up but for a moment they are all in Maine. We have caught glimpses of Zane previously so now we get to know him better.

Sebastian is on a roll and attacks not only Christophe and his twin Colin but also the house in Maine, playing mind games with Ruby who has joined the group.

Ruby discovers the whereabouts of the cypher key by half-watching TV while trying to decipher the books. It is a cane in the possession of a Preacher the same preacher her grandparents kept her away from for years.

Drew and Marina accompany her to get the cane, but they are waylaid by the appearance and then disappearance of Christophe. Then an explosion and fire leaves Marina unconscious and Drew missing. Christophe reappears with the knowledge that his brother has been captured by Sebastian.

Christophe finds that when he touches Ruby his powers settle as well as hers. Wishing for the key she ends up with a key that burns her hand and Christophe transported them to a place they wish to be aka her bedroom.

There are three things that need to be done, rescue Colin, get the cane and find out what the key is for.

We meet up with Zane as he goes to a bar to find the courage to enter a church he believes the Outsiders are in. There he meets Gia the bartender and when she tries her power on him it doesn’t work and vise versa. They discover they are cousins and not soul mates and Zane moves in with an offer to keep her safe.

The person we hadn’t met is Raquel, she is the one who set the fire that caused the explosion. Alexa has also traveled to Maine and meets Raquel and only knows that she wants to get to the island home of the Outsiders as much as she does.

This is fast paced with something happening on every page. I love how the newly mated can’t keep their hands to themselves and the males get all grumpy. Lots of surprises here and I enjoyed every single one.

So let me just recap a bit. We know we need 9 pairs of Soul Mates in order to defeat the demon Sebastian. These are the outsiders and the soul mates that we know of at this moment.

Leonardo, his soul mate is Alexa and she is under the control of Sebastian.  Marina and Drew are soul mates but haven’t actually completed the bond. Kal and Isabelle, Jason and Charma, Gabriel and Loraine, Samuel and Eden who were the subjects of the last book, Love Beyond Sight and Colin (Christophe’s Twin) and Zane (a safecracker) also showed up for the first time there. Christophe and Ruby are the subject of this book.  We appear to have all the male Outsiders, now to find the rest of the females.

We met Christophe before as he popped in and out of other books in his search for Leonardo. Ruby was ironically Leonardo’s replacement professor at Columbia University. In the last book we saw her and Christophe botching the whole attraction thing.

Now Ruby has joined the other Outsiders in Maine, much to Leonardo’s delight, and is helping with the translation of the books.

This book starts off with quite a bit of angst. First Sebastian attacks Christophe and Colin in their NY apartment. They split up and Christophe heads to Maine where they plan to meet. On a roll Sebastian also threatens Ruby in the Island Mansion.

Ruby while working on the translation has turned on the TV to discover something they need, the translation key, a staff that is in the possession of a preacher from her past. She gets Drew and Marina to take her to the mainland to take it from him.

Christophe arrives but can’t locate his brother, instead he finds Ruby. When Marina confirms he is one of them they go to a coffee shop to discuss what is happening. As is par for the course Christophe pops out. This does not end well.

A fire and explosion takes out the coffee shop as they are leaving Marina is injured, Drew vanishes then Christophe pops back in as Marina is being transported to the hospital.
He found his brother on that transport in the clutches of the demon.

Ruby gets a key not a bunch of them when she tries to get the staff by wanting it and Christophe manages a controlled transport with Ruby to her bedroom, and we all know what happens there.  So the soul mate thing kicks in nicely giving them both needed control of their powers. This was one of my favorite scenes.

Ruby shook, her body feeling like it might never cease its rattling again. If not for Christophe’s strong arms, she’d hit the floor. Where the hell had they gone? One second they’d stood on the street with so much sexual energy between them she thought a bomb might go off, the next instant they were swirling through nothingness going somewhere else.

She had no idea what happened; the only thing she felt certain about was that she had not caused the moving through space. That had to be Christophe…or some other Outsider. Or, god forbid, Sebastian…

“It’s okay.” Christophe sounded downright giddy as he squeezed her shoulders. “We moved through space to”—he looked left and right—”a bedroom. I don’t know whose it is but someone’s bedroom.”

Looking around, she laughed, wondering if she sounded like a lunatic. “It’s my room. In the mansion.”

“I moved us.” Why did he sound so happy? “Together. And I pretty much controlled it myself. I spoke aloud, and then I got to go to where I said I needed to go. That never happens. I’m always pulled out on a whim. No control.”

“That’s great.” She had to calm down. How did Christophe manage this on a regular basis? Her powers let her acquire weird objects, not bang in and out of places in swirls of nothingness with no warning. The key she held in her hand burned, and she looked down at it. Why did it hurt her? She held it up so Christophe could inspect it.

“Does this look like anything weird to you? It’s warming in my hand, almost painfully.”

“Hand it over.”

She gladly placed the object in the center of his palm. He curved his fingers around the key. “Feels cool to me, like the weather outside.”

“It’s burning my fingers when I touch it.”

Christophe entwined their hands. “Your skin doesn’t seem hot.” “Are you suggesting I’m imagining it?” She bit down on the inside of her cheek. She really, really hated it when people doubted her experiences. It had been bad enough when she had been young and her grandparents had insisted the things she thought happened to her hadn’t occurred.

“No, sweetheart.” He stroked a piece of her hair off her face. “Don’t get all worked up. I’m simply saying I can’t feel it. In the midst of all this lunacy, you think I question whether or not you can feel something I can’t?” All right, now he turned out to be reasonable when she wanted to act just the opposite.

“Christophe, I feel like I’m losing my mind.”

He stroked her hair, making her shiver. “I know. There’s a lot going on right now.”

The last line in the scene is quite the understatement. A bit more of the stuff going on. Zane meets a bartender Gia who it seems is another outsider, but not his soul mate, although they are cousins.

Alexa travels to Maine to try to join with the outsiders to destroy everything but some weird stuff is happening with her.  She meets Raquel (she started the fire at the coffee shop) who also wants to go to the island, but then the Outsiders are gone.

The staff, the key and a rescue are the goals of this book and yet more questions arise. I couldn’t stop reading, it’s fast paced and left me breathless for more!

Dang Rebecca, I need the next book, I am so addicted!

I’d love to hear from you!

SummerBlog My Review

In each of the books we meet more of the outsiders.  As the story progresses the evil Sebastian gets more desperate to eliminate the outsiders who have not yet found their soul mates. The outsiders continue the quest to find the rest of the couples and locate the last of the books. Books containing the information they will need to complete their task of destroying the demon.

This installment is primarily about Eden and her soul mate Samuel.  She needs to overcome her insecurities and the inability to control the effects of her visions. Samuel on the other hand needs to come to terms with his appearance and be himself outside and in.

Eden leaves the island after discovering she would be left on the island alone, considered a liability to the others, as they go to New Orleans to find another book. In the process she puts herself in the line of fire for Sebastian. He needs to destroy her since her gift of prophesy is not one he wants the Outsiders to have access to. What Sebastian doesn’t know is that he didn’t kill her soul mate.

We meet up with Christopher again, as he flashes in and out of different places although not one where he would meet Leonardo. He also wants to find a way to get together with Ruby but is really screwing it up. Ruby is having power issues, it seems she can want something and have it appear in volume. An interesting dilemma for her.

A new addition is Zane a safe designer and cracker. Quite the combination but since he is a thief for hire it fits. His mistake is attempting to rob an old lady who has some surprises for him.

There is much going on and the plot thickens. Samuel’s ability to take on the form of another is a valuable asset to the group as they take on this next step in the quest. Unfortunately this ability that he depends on to hide his appearance is a liability to the soul mate binding.

Lots of surprises and nail-biting.  I can’t wait for the next installment.
