It is the end of days…

Taken from her family at birth, and raised by the mystic Sisterhood, Anne understands she will fight the demons for the rest of her life. Often referred to as the Weird Sister, Anne longs for a life she knows she can never have and dreams of her five guards affections although she believes they hold her in disdain.

She couldn’t be more wrong.

Bryant, Mason, Garrett, Kieran and Milo see Anne for who she is and they’ve loved her every day they’ve known her, although they can never see her face. Fate has chosen them as her beloveds and when the already destroyed world falls apart, they will see they are meant to be…and that maybe all hope is not lost at all. Maybe it is just the beginning.

In this post apocalypse world some females are born with a special gift. This gift is the reason they are taken from their parents as infants and raised to accept their gifts. Fighting and eliminating the demons that are rampant just about everywhere is their purpose. They are Sisters of the Rising Sun.

Sister Anne had been born to Sister Katrina’s biological sister. However, she has never been given preferential treatment.

As this story opens we meet Anne’s guards. The guards are numbered 1-5. On this assignment, she has a new 5. Her 1 had completed his ten years was paid and sent home. This meant all her other guards moved up and 5 was new.

After a particularly difficult assignment, and a bit of a misunderstanding Anne’s number one tracks her down in the kitchen.

I’d seen the insides of the barracks when I was twelve, having been sent out to bring supplies for a sick guard. They weren’t going to freeze to death, but neither were they going to be warm and snuggly.

I shook my head. My thinking was the problem. Sisters didn’t worry about things like the comfort or lack thereof their guards endured. Sisters assumed their guards were fine. I finished the bowl and shoved it down with more force than necessary. What was wrong with me?

I sank to my knees. Alone in the kitchen was a good place to right myself. Why was I this person? Okay, I could kill demons, even at half-strength, but in every other way possible, I wasn’t right. I shouldn’t be a Sister. I wasn’t cut out for it. Did Sisters ever quit? No one had ever indicated such a thing was possible. I knew retirement might become an option at age forty or older, but what did they do with defunct twenty-two-year-olds?

I wiped the escaping tears from my eyes, then rose to my feet. A knock on the kitchen door caught my attention, and I moved quickly to answer it.

One stood in the hallway. He dressed casually, not geared up to fight anything. Instead, he had brown pants and a gray hooded shirt on. One looked like the men I saw on my ventures out of the sisterhood. He’d fit in outside of here, which was great since he had four more years to go and then he would be one of them. He could then actually use his real name.

“Hello, Sister Anne.” He rocked back on his feet. “I was told you were in here. I asked one of the initiates to go get you from your quarters and ask if you’d speak to me. They said you were in here. As it’s acceptable for Guards to be in the kitchen, I came over.”

He was right. The kitchen could be a common area. On a few occasions, the guards came in to get something themselves, which was why we had to use our hoods in the common area.

“How can I help you?” That was the correct response. I would only make them from now on.

“Well.” A muscle ticked in his jaw. His blond hair, still pulled back in the bun, looked messier than I was used to seeing it. Dark circles marred his lovely face. “I haven’t been able to rest for a week. I’m afraid we hurt you, emotionally. That would never be our intention. Even Five. He’s new, and honestly, for as incredible a fighter as he is—which is why I sought him out for the position—he has foot-in-mouth disease and wants to throw himself over a cliff for the way his words seem to have wounded you.”

I wanted to laugh at the description, but I didn’t. Sisters didn’t laugh at things Guards said. I was going to be correct. I had to be.

“I …” I didn’t even know how to respond. “I worry I am the cause of embarrassment for the five of you, and as far as I can tell, you are all the best of the best. I don’t want you to wish you worked for someone else. This is a decade of your life. It must feel like jail, an incarceration you agreed to in order to move your families out of the Deadlands. But I’d rather it be pleasant and not all horrible.”

His eyes widened, and he fell to his knees. “My lady—”

“I am not any kind of a lady.”

One shook his head. “You certainly are. Sister Anne, this is not a jail. Being with you, seeing what you can do and how strong and brave you are … it makes me want to be stronger, too. You treat us with such respect. It’s a gift from the divinities that you are my Sister.”

My heart raced. I’d never been spoken to like this in my entire life nor had I ever expected to be addressed so. “Please rise, One. I wouldn’t have you on your knees. You are an amazing man. There is never a need for you to lower yourself to me. I’m a woman, a peasant, who happened to have this strange gift. I should be thanking you more than I do, but I can’t figure out what is right and what makes you all want to run for the hills. Day after day, you go out there and might die to keep me, a woman you hardly know, alive. You’re brave beyond my knowledge to express. But I do everything wrong with the five of you.”

He raised his eyes to mine and rose. “You are our Sister. What you do, therefore, is inherently correct. Always. And I know that Mason, Garrett, Kieran, and even Milo feel the same way. I’m sorry; that’s Two, Three, Four and Five.” He reached out to touch the side of my gown by my arm, gently. He tugged on it slightly. The gesture seemed almost like he did it unconsciously more than anything else.

I lowered my voice. “What is your name, One?”

He smiled and nodded his head. “I’m Bryant. And I am always at your service, Sister Anne.”
Royce, Rebecca. Tradition Be Damned (Last Hope Book 1) (pp. 28-31). After Glows Publishing. Kindle Edition.

I love the rebellious Anne as she learns more about her guard and falls for each of them.

We meet Danielle, a Sister who doesn’t dress or act like one and her guards are the same yet different. Anne’s goal was to eliminate demons at the mines, and she will, just not when or how you think it will happen.

There is loss, pain, reunion, suspense, simmer to sizzle heat and so much more!

Time may be cruel, and space unforgiving, but their love is forever.

Hurled across time and space, Waverly Sandler lives in unexpected exile on a planet doomed to be destroyed. A nurse and caretaker, she finds herself going through the motions waiting for an inevitable end she cannot change and missing the four parts of her soul she left behind—in the future—whenever. The last thing she expected was salvation in the eleventh hour, or a wild journey through the time warping effects of the black hole, but their reunion is only the next step in an ever spiraling journey.

With Ari, Jackson, Rohan, and Canyon willing to break every rule, they will rely on Waverly to light their path.

Let me say now that if you haven’t read Book 7 ‘Dark Demise’ go read it first. This book takes over where that one left off.

I can’t imagine being sent back in time, let alone to a place that doesn’t exist anymore in my own time. Knowing what’s going to happen and being trapped there, for Waverly, was devastating. She kept hinting but no one would believe her.

When the Artemis shows up with a very different Melissa Anderson on board she was shocked by the difference between the one she knows and the one she faces off with.

Worse though is when her husbands find her and are racing against time to save her.

This is a favorite scene, and the first one that had me in tears.

“Waverly,” a voice I’d never hear again called out to me. I sighed. Every once in a while I hallucinated hearing one of my guys. This time it was Rohan. I stared down at my feet. The delusion would pass.

“Waverly.” A hand grabbed onto me, and I reacted, fighting back from the touch. Whoever it was could just get their hands off me. They could…

I gasped. It really was Rohan. He held onto me, observing me with wide eyes before tugging me into a tight embrace. “Rohan?”

I couldn’t seem to say anything else. He smelled right. I closed my eyes. If he were fake, he would smell wrong or something. This was real.

I found my voice again. “How?”

“We can’t wait. I’ll explain.” He shook, holding me. “I’ve got her guys. Yes, coming. Everyone to the ship. There’s no time to lose. Minutes.”

“Until what?”

He took my cheeks in his hand. “Until the bombs.”

I shook my head. “No.” The reality of this slammed into me like a truck hitting me. “We have to warn people. We have to get them out. I have friends.”

He didn’t let go of my arm, didn’t loosen his grip. “We can’t. No one would believe us. We’d be locked up for questioning and die with them. We can’t save everyone.”

I tugged against his hold. “Okay, not everyone. Just my friends.”

“Waverly, we have minutes. Where are your friends?”

I wanted to have a different answer but I didn’t. “Not close. Oh Rohan, no. I can’t do this. I can’t. It’s too much.” I’d never fallen apart in my life. I was the girl who survived things, who found a way to make everything work. I didn’t lose it in hard circumstances, and yet here I was crumbling.

He shook his head. “I’ve got you, Wavey. I promise.”

Rohan was strong and steady. Strong enough to carry me even when I fought him all the way to the ship. I didn’t even know what I was screaming about by the time he got me inside. I’d given up hitting and kicking him. I couldn’t really explain why I did that at all.

He set me on a table in the med bay. They’d come on Artemis, but our version of it. An older ship than the one Melissa had appeared on. I felt it jolt, becoming airborne seconds before Ari appeared in front of me. Rohan hadn’t changed his appearance at all, but Ari needed to shave. His blond hair was kept in a rubber band, so I couldn’t tell how long it was.

I couldn’t stop crying.

“I don’t know.” Rohan said to Ari. “It’s the bombs. She didn’t want to leave anyone.”

Ari nodded. “Of course she didn’t.” He touched my hair, running his hand through it. “I’m so sorry, baby.”

He never used that name for me, but this was too awful to even focus on that. I jumped off the table and rushed to the viewport. The planet shrank behind us. I cried out. Any second, this place— one I’d never have chosen to see, but had been my home for ten months— would be no more.
We’d no sooner pulled out of orbit than a bright light obscured my view. I closed my eyes. It was gone. Just like that. I put my hand over my face.

“Thank you for coming.” My voice shook. “I… I…”

A hand came to my back. It was Rohan. “Don’t thank us. This happened to you because of us. We love you. We’d never leave you there.”
Royce, Rebecca. Light Unfolding: A Reverse Harem Science Fiction Romance (Wings of Artemis Book 8) (Kindle Locations 270-297). Rebecca Royce. Kindle Edition.

Waverly had been sent back in time with a device, now they were headed home through the black hole. Of her husbands, only Cannon hadn’t welcomed her, there was a problem.

Ari with Jackson and Waverly’s help goes about solving Cannon’s problem. This was intense, bring on the sniffling again.

The love shines through with every interaction between Waverly and her husbands.

A discovery in the black hole could mean the end of their world, but Waverly does something with the aid of her men that may change that, or may not.

Of course her father is still out there causing havoc along with the Evander corporation.

I did a lot of crying in this one but damn if I wasn’t smiling and saying Oh yeah by the end.

It seems the next book could be extremely interesting, I can’t wait!

Winter Blog Review

Waverly Sandler believes she is unworthy of anything that comes naturally to others. In her mind she is the ugly Sandler, her hair too orange, her eyes just brown, she’s too curvy and much too tall. While that may be how some folks see her, it is not how the guys see her or Paloma or Diana or Melissa. They all see a beautiful, intelligent and talented woman.

If you have been following this series then you know a bit about the possibility of time travel. This book takes that further as Waverly is asked to help out Ari, Jackson, Rohan and Canyon.

There is a lot that goes on in this one and I am hard-pressed to choose a favorite scene as there are many. But I think I have to go with this one. Jackson joins Waverly at lunch after she and Ari deliver Paloma’s baby.

Jackson added a piece of chicken, a carton of milk, and some carrots to his plate. I was eating turkey soup. I ate it so frequently I could barely taste it anymore.

He grabbed his tray and strode into the Mess like a person who was confident in his ability to belong wherever he placed himself. I always kept my head down and walked over to my table, hoping not to trip.

It took me a second to realize he was coming straight in my direction. Gasps sounded around the table, and Tina grabbed Shannon’s arm. “Do you think he’s coming to speak to you?”

She had said she wanted to marry him. Had she somehow called him to her? Instead, he strode to the end of our table and sat down right across from me.

Technically, Carla was directly across from me. But she was tiny, and there was space next to her.

“Waverly, hello.” He glanced at the rest of the table. “Ladies.”

Hellos were said in various degrees of high-pitched glee. He ignored them. “How are you today?”

I swallowed. “Okay. How are you?”

“Just okay? I hear you were pivotal in saving Paloma and Benjamin.” He cut into his chicken, picked some up with his fork, stuck it in his mouth, and chewed. I watched, transfixed, as his mouth worked.

My cheeks heated. He was waiting for me to answer. “It was really all Ari.”

“Not what he said.” He took another bite. I could become preoccupied watching him eat. “He said you were right there, anticipated his every move, kept the patient calm, and took care of the father, uncle situation. He says he couldn’t have done it without you.”

Had he really? Jackson had talked to Ari about me? “Well, he’s being kind.”

“Not usually.” He set down his fork. “Is soup your second lunch or all you’re eating?”

What? Oh, my lunch. I looked down at my soup and then back at Jackson. “This is what I usually eat.”

“Really? How do you get through the day with so little food in your stomach?”

“This is Waverly,” Shannon called out, laughing. “She’s just sturdy. Doesn’t need a lot of food and keeps on pushing through.”

Jackson raised his eyebrows slowly and regarded Shannon. “I’m sorry. Who are you? Remind me. I do thousands of security clearances. I can’t remember everyone. Sharon, is it?”

Her face turned red. “Shannon. With Ns. Not Rs.”

“Oh, that’s right. Your brothers are great allies. What do you do? I mean, I could look it up. If I cared.”

On one hand, Shannon should be thrilled. Jackson was paying her a lot of attention. On the other, I never wanted him to look at me the way he was glaring at her. Why was he doing this?

She cleared her throat. “I work in the clothing manufacturing. You’re probably wearing socks I helped to sew.”

“That’s really important. Thank you for that. I really do appreciate everyone who works so hard for all of us.” He sighed. “Would you like to do something else? Say, off The Farm? On a ship headed for the Dark Planets?”

She paled. “No.”

“Just checking.” He rose. “I need some air. Want some air, Waverly?”

“I…” Shannon was glowering. There was no way I was going to avoid having to talk about the trouble with my facial features now. “Yes, I’d like some air.”

Jackson nodded. “Great. Grab your coat and your soup. We’ll eat outside. Thanks for the conversation, Sharon. See the rest of you ladies soon.”

“It’s Shannon,” she shrieked after us as we walked.

When we got outside, Jackson sat down on a bench. I didn’t know who kept decorating The Farm, but every time I came outside, someone had put in more landscaping. I was glad I wasn’t the only person who meant to make this place home. I’d never leave if I could avoid it.

I loved it here. For the first time ever, I wasn’t afraid.

“Why did you do that?” I had to ask him. Did he hate Shannon for some reason? He side-eyed me as he sipped his milk. “I don’t like mean people. That girl was mean. She wanted my attention. Okay, fine. I’m flattered. I don’t… date or anything. That’s not my style. I want to be with the one, right woman. I am really honored that there’s something about me she wanted to get to know better. But picking on you to get my attention? Screw that. Low form of communication. I just reacted.”

Oh. Well, I wasn’t really sure what to say about that. “I don’t think she was particularly picking on me. I mean, she’s not always kind or careful with what she says.”

“There would be the definition.” He grinned at me. “How are you so sweet? You shouldn’t be. You should be a raving bitch. But you’re so nice.”

I looked down at my feet. “I have a lot of things I need to work on about myself. I know… I’m sort of ridiculous.”

Jackson took my hand in his. “That was a compliment I just gave you. Not a critique.”

Many things happen from here, as each of the four men make their unique move on Waverly. To say she is stunned is an understatement.

Time travel takes on a whole new meaning, even as there are those plotting against them. Romance and trust grows slowly as circumstances go wildly out of control.

I laughed, I cried and damn these guys are sexy, sweet and deadly too. Our heroine is put through a lot and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Paloma McQueen is a woman on a mission.

Loving the Sandler brothers in the midst of a war tearing their galaxy apart never promised to be easy but Paloma swore an oath to her husbands. Their challenges are hers, their war hers, their happiness… Everything she is and will be, she plans to be with them no matter what changes the conflicts wrought on the map.

When a battle gone wrong rips her away from her loves, she will tear the galaxy apart to get them.

She made a promise to love them for better or worse and nothing—not war, cartel, or corporation will keep her from those she loves.

Nothing.

Paloma is a very strong, very determined woman who frequently ends up in a med machine through no fault of her own. This book opens with Paloma and her husbands leading others towards Sandler Space.

Now this book does a little back and forth with timeline, but it is necessary for the telling.

Paloma once again wakes up from a med machine and she has no recollection of how she got there. She is with two of her husbands, Melissa, Diana and their husbands, and many more on the planet where they took refuge after Garrison Sandler attacked Mars Station.

With Keith and Clay by her side she learns her other two husbands are gone, there is a tape of their execution by their father. Paloma really doesn’t believe it, she doesn’t feel them gone in her heart. Even after watching the tape twice, she is in denial.

This is a favorite scene, when Clay, Keith, and Paloma learn the truth about the video.

“Why are we here?” Clay moved slightly until he was directly on my other side. “I mean, we would like to get to know you. We might stay a while. Now that we’re not going to be in the med bay all the time, maybe we could help with things. In a bit. I think we’re adjusting to our life now. It might take some time to be okay.”

Canyon looked at Rohan. “Grief?”

“Yes.” Rohan moved to the screen and touched a button. He might as well have knocked me down. There on the screen was the hellish feed of Tommy and Quinn dying. I cried out and covered my eyes with my hand. I hadn’t been prepared for that, and since I was likely not going to kill Garrison Sandler, I didn’t see why I should ever watch it again.

I threw myself against Clay’s shoulder as though he could make the sound stop.

“Hey,” Keith and Clay said at the same time.

“What are you doing?” Clay wrapped his hand over my eyes, too. I couldn’t see the feed, but I could still hear it just fine.

“It’s a fake,” Rohan answered.

I dropped my hand from my eyes, and Clay dropped his, too. “What?”

“I am well versed in forgery. We frequently sent out fake images to places before we could invade them for Evander Corporation. That is one of the best ways to get people to not do things to make you kill them. I had no reason to watch the feed before last night. I don’t know your people. But I followed Paloma’s heartbeat. I wished to put a face to the sound I’d heard for the last month. There was a lot of pain each time she almost died,” Rohan explained.

It was so bizarre to hear him talk about my heartbeat as though it was something he could actually hear and identify. I might care to hear more about it later. He’d said the feed was fake.

“After watching it twice, I was quite certain it wasn’t real. I couldn’t have proven it to you then. That was simply… intuition. But Canyon can see things differently. I asked him to look.”

Canyon walked to the controls and paused the scene. It was right before they were about to die. “My eyes have been reworked to make me a better killer. I can spot someone who isn’t even a speck in the human eye yet, target them and kill them. Humans are shadows to me. I cannot see facial features, more like you are all heat and shadow. I can see mechanical things just fine. It’s like they removed my ability to see humans so I would not care about them. Pieces of darkness.”

He pressed another button to start the screen again. “That is not a human on the screen. Tommy and Quinn are drawings superimposed on footage from something else. I can see them. They are faked. Computer images. I can see them.”

Clay’s body shook next to me, and Keith let out a gasp. They’d lived with this for a month. For an entire month, they’d thought their brothers had been brutally killed. I’d only had one day with it and that was more than enough.

My knees threatened to give, but I stayed strong.

Keith found his voice first. “You’re sure about this. Absolutely sure?”

Canyon nodded. “Yes.”

I closed my eyes. We were going to get my other two loves back. “Thank you, Canyon, Rohan. You have given us such a gift. I will never ever be able to pay this back. If I can ever pay it forward, I will.”
Royce, Rebecca. Saving Them (Wings of Artemis Book 6) (pp. 67-69). After Glows Publishing. Kindle Edition.

This is just the beginning as we watch Paloma grow, both in determination and strength.

A fast paced page turner that will have you holding your breath more than once. Lots of love, encouragement, simmer to sizzle passion and some pretty cool revelations.

Dark Demise, the next book in this series is on my TBR pile. I think it just got pushed up the list.

My Review of Loving Them – Wings of Artemis Book 5 by Rebecca Royce

Loving Them
Wings Of Artemis Book 5
By

1cf2a-addtogoodreads

Saved from a life of suffering, Paloma Delacroix is determined to make the best life possible for herself, and for the four men she loves. Loving them is a challenge she never dreamed she’d be up for and one she refuses to fail. Before they can kickstart the life they all dream of, Thomas, Clay, Keith and Quinn McQueen will take Paloma back to Mars Station. They have the whole of the Sandler armada to defeat.

With the help of family, friends, and lost allies, they just might make it work…if they can survive their wedding day.

Content warning: Reverse Harem. Intense.

KindleLogo Barnes and Noble logo_150 ibooks-logo-150x150KoboLogo

With the release of Dark Demise, it dawned on me that I hadn’t reviewed the previous two Wings of Artemis books. So I thought I’d catch up before I review the latest.

After the sisterhood where Paloma had been exiled is destroyed she finds her way to Quinn and his brothers. They aren’t going to be staying there much longer, they needed to get to Mars Station and plot the takedown of their father.

Melissa welcomes Paloma back to the Station and the men start their planning.

Paloma wants a wedding and that is part of the plan, one that isn’t stopped even when a bomb goes off inside the station.

This is a favorite scene after Paloma gets out of the med machine.

The few times I had imagined getting married, a dream I’d thought ended when my parents banished me to the Sisterhood, it had never been in a bloody mess of clothing having just gotten out of a medical machine. But when it came down to it, I didn’t care a bit what I looked like. Or that a man who had just finished using the word “honeys” to refer to former lovers was actually performing the ceremony.

I’d also not imagined we could laugh so much through the ceremony.

“And do you, Paloma, take these four men—with all their many flaws and strengths—to be with you from now and always?”

Now and Always. Those were huge statements. I hadn’t known them all that long. And yet, from the moment Clay had appeared at the Sisterhood, it had felt as though everything moved toward this. Quinn cracked up, rubbing his nose. “Thanks for saying ‘flaws’ first, Ari.”

“Quinn.” Ari’s eyes were filled with amusement. “This is a sacred moment. We are waiting for Paloma to answer. Do you?”

I grinned at him and then Tommy. Then Clay. Keith and then Quinn.

“I feel like everything that has happened to me in my life has happened so I could be led to you. So, yes, with all your flaws and strengths, I will marry the four of you. For now and always. Just as I hope you’ll accept all of mine, of which there are many.”

Rings were exchanged. I didn’t know where they’d gotten them—since they had thoughtfully bought four for me to give to them as well—but they were beautiful. My ring had four gemstones in it. Red, black, blue, and green gems adorned the silver band that I would wear forever on my left hand. Theirs were all the same with a capital letter P engraved into the simple silver they would also never take off.

Now and Always…

Ari said some more things, but I had lost sense of the event transpiring. There was just one world, and only Tommy, Clay, Keith, Quinn, and I lived in it. I was their wife.

As a teenager, I would hide in my room to read my favorite romance novels when I was supposed to be doing my homework. I hope, these days, that my parents think it was worth it.

I am the mother of three adorable boys and I am fortunate to be married to my best friend. I live in Austin Texas where I am determined to eat all the barbecue in town.

I am in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and try to use all of these elements in my writing. I’ve been told I’m a little bloodthirsty so I hope that when you read my work you’ll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. I love to write series because I love to see characters develop over time and it always makes me happy to see my favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.

It’s come down to this…

Kendall sacrificed herself for everyone… but her journey isn’t over.   Alive and alone in the Shadow Dimension, Kendall has surrendered hope. But those who love her have not. Rescue is not beyond possibility. Saving Kendall is only the first battle. Can she save the world or is it already too late?

In the last book Kendall has sacrificed herself for her family and friends. Now her existence is in the Shadow Dimension. She gave up hope of Malcolm coming for her a long time ago. But surprise!

This is a favorite scene.

“Your name is Kendall Madison Fallon. You’ve also had the last name Yates. You’re my wife. You weren’t always. Once, you were married to a guy named Levi. You and he have three children together— Grayson, Dexter, and Molly. They’re waiting. We have a baby. She’s just two weeks old. You named her Abigail. She’s … beautiful.”

I put out my hand. “Stop it. Stop talking.” I couldn’t breathe. His words were daggers stabbing at my heart. “What is this pain? What is this you’re doing to me? And why would you want to? Who sent you here to do this to me?”

“I’m not here to hurt you. I’m here to bring you home. That pain? It’s probably from the memories trying to resurface. I don’t blame you for letting them go. One hundred years? They’d drive me mad. You jumped here to save us all. You did it. You plugged the hole. You sacrificed yourself. But I’m not done with you. I’ll never be. There are three choices. You take my hand, and you come home. I grab your hand, you come home, and the resistance hurts Victoria. Or I stay here with you.” He took another step closer. “If you insist on option three, we’ll make our daughter an orphan. I also don’t know what will happen with the battle. We need to kill the Master. I’m the guy to kill him. Maybe Ross can do it. I don’t know. So what’s your choice, my love? Because I will not live without you. It’s always Malcolm and Kendall. I found you here. I will not lose you. We live. We die. Together.”

I covered my eyes like I could make him go away. “Why would you do this?”

“Because I love you. Kendall, open your eyes.” I obeyed him. For one hundred years, I’d not taken a command from anyone. Yet he told me to do something, and there I was following his command. “Take my hand. The rest of it? We’ll figure it out. Your memories aren’t gone. They’re there. You’re feeling them right now. Come back with me. There are people who will help you.”

“Help me?” I stepped away from him. “That’s hope talk. That’s what makes people lose their minds. I won’t do that.” My hands shook, but I ignored them. “You have The Master up there? He was once a leader here. That’s what they tell me.”

He put his hand out in front of me. “He’s a very bad opponent. He did this. We need to kill him, and I’m not sure I can without you.”
Rebecca Royce. Persuasion Enraptured (Kindle Locations 127-145). After Glows Publishing.

Kendall has changed and the lengths they go to help her regain herself leave her conflicted.

She finds out a lot about herself and the others as they prepare for the final battle.

A page turning, emotional, conclusion to this fabulous tale!

It’s Here! Rebecca Royce’s Love Beyond Flames – The Outsiders Book 7

Love Beyond Flames

Zane is not a good man, but who said he has to be to fulfill his Outsider destiny? The battle has come to a head and, with everything on the line, it’s time the Outsiders stopped playing it so easy. At least as far as Zane is concerned.

Raquel exists to handle flames. Her soul mate needs to be a man who can handle her heat. Zane is just the man for the job. But with the world exploding around them, it may be too late for love. The battle has just begun and yet it’s already too late.

Unless they can still win the day.

I was so happy to see this one! I’ve been waiting what seems like forever for this saga to continue. That said, I don’t think I’ve felt bad for any of these couples except maybe Leonardo and Alexa who really have some stuff to overcome.

In every story the attraction has been pretty instantaneous and hotter than hell. However, Zane and Raquel have a hard time just being together for more than a couple of minutes before some sort of hell breaks loose, let alone make love.

So here’s where we are, Alexa is in a sorry state, covered in demon that the healers can’t seem to clear. Zombies are everywhere. We still don’t know where Gia is. Sebastian is still causing havoc and his father gets pissed.

Zane and Rachel are together and trying to connect further but things are intense and interruptions are rampant. The first right at the beginning has Zane and Rachel in a future they need to get the others to help prevent.

This is a favorite scene that ultimately sets up the rest of the book.

“This is pretty bad, isn’t it?” Zane whirled around at the sound of Kal’s voice. But… that was impossible. He was dead. The other Outsider, one of the most powerful SOBs Zane could ever imagine, glistened in front of him, looking a phantom rather than the flesh and blood man Zane had seen only that morning.

“Kal?”

His friend shimmered forward. “I brought you here. This glimpse of the future is courtesy of me. And Gabriel. And Jason helped too. Don’t tell Isabelle. Only you can see me and it’ll hurt her tremendously to know I can’t talk to her. It’s the Fates. They have their rules.”

“What can I do to see to it this never happens?” Because if Zane had any say in it, the future he found himself in would never take place.

“That’s the million dollar question.” Kal looked away. “There were a million small decisions which led to this. But the biggest was Leonardo and Alexa. Our leader is stubborn and where I was back then, I didn’t feel I had the right to challenge him on his love life or lack thereof. Eventually, Alexa gave up. She let go and died. In no world should a power as strong as Alexa Lane give up hope. That’s on all of us. But mostly on him. I don’t know anyone who challenges Leonardo like you do. Or like you will do. He has to be made to see. This is where we are headed if we don’t win the war. And Sebastian wasn’t wrong. He can keep this dimension as long as he wants it. If he never gets bored, we don’t have another battle. It’s all over. We lose.”

Zane didn’t have as much of a relationship with Leonardo as Kal suggested. Maybe he would but they weren’t there yet. Although to avoid the future around him, he’d fucking play matchmaker if he had to and force their leader into compliance. If such a thing was possible…

Between the zombies, trying to help Alexa, finding a way to open the safe of their memories and so much more, you won’t be able to put this book down.
