Elite Ghosts

For more than two years they’ve been ghosts. Nothing but names on empty tombstones. Men and women forced to fade into the background after being pulled from the rubble. Dead Marines saved from a fate worse than death, but ordered to stand down while their lives disappeared all around them.

Some knew it could happen if a mission exploded. Double crossed by more than just Red Wolf. But now is their time to be reborn from the flames of a Phoenix. No longer imprisoned in the shadows. A half-life between them and their future. To make things right coming back to life is their only option.

Loyalty is their salvation but damage is always more than skin deep.

A new hope. A new family. Elite Ghosts.

Target: Tungsten

by Heather Long

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb

Bradley “Tungsten” Peck. Marine. Lover. Friend. He’s the man who can get anything, find anyone, and accomplish every goal. At least he was, before he lost the only woman who mattered…he won’t stop until he gets her back or she puts a bullet in him.

Fall Tree Blog - small review

This story starts the second chapter for the Elite Warrior Series.

When the ghosts removed their masks, I think my heart stopped for a moment. When Copper locked eyes with HIM, Tungsten/Brad, I thought my heart would break. Gabriel and Sachi are so good together, I couldn’t grasp the possibility they could end because of Brad. That he had been there all along with the others, watching and protecting and never said a word. Even Merc/John didn’t trust Tungsten/Brad, and they had been friends.

Oddly enough I trusted that something good would come out of this difficult situation.

As the story unfolds with Sachi, Gabriel and Brad in an isolated cabin in Montana, and John keeping watch outside. Deep cover to protect them from someone looking diligently for Brad and possibly Sachi.

But before they can pursue a mission, Sachi either has to choose or they need another plan. This is part of one of my favorite conversations with John and Sachi while they were on a run.

“I don’t want to choose between them. She didn’t and she wouldn’t. In some ways, she’d made her choice. Gabriel allowed Brad to be a part of them, Gabriel let him in, and she embraced the choice because Gabriel saw what she needed. If she had to choose…

“I suppose this means I have to keep his sorry ass alive.” John shook his head at her. “Two men?”

“I’m a demanding woman, what can I say?”

“Greedy bitch.” But he said with a hint of a smile. “Fine. I’ll keep the jackass alive. But one fucking step out of line…”

Closing the distance between them, she gave him a hug. “Yeah, yeah. They’ll never see you coming.”

The question is can the men share her long term? Can she accept them both for forever?

What ensues is a sizzling hot relationship, followed by a yet another difficult mission. I couldn’t stop reading, I had to know what would happen next.

Zinc’s Heart

by Rebecca Royce

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb

Zinc has nothing to prove–and everything to lose.

Fall Tree Blog - small review

Zinc wanted one thing from Steele when he took off his mask, the answer to a question. The question – Why did you leave me behind? Like all the other Zinc lost much when he became a Ghost. Only he didn’t have the years of freedom the others had in between.

What happens when it wasn’t answered immediately was painful for both of them. Steele with a broken face literally, that required surgery and Zinc with no relief from the physical and emotional pain.

This book takes off quickly and Zinc’s mission is to get Steele’s sister Sarah out of the clutches of one of Red Wolf’s minions. Walter David. David is, among other things, a stop on the human trafficking pathway.

Sarah a CIA agent was taken for asking the wrong kind of questions about her brother Steele and Zinc’s deaths. Questions that led her to Red Wolf.

Zinc had always been attracted to Sarah, but she was off limits because of being his best friends sister. Now she was being held a sexual captive. His mission is to get her out. A mission that rapidly goes to hell.

Forced to bail on the plane after discovering Titanium’s pilot was working with Red Wolf. Then not able to return to headquarters because of possible infiltration. Sarah and Zinc/Zach are on the run until it’s safe to go in.

Zinc has migraines and issues with wrong words after one due to his healing brain. A favorite passage is from the first stop on their journey.

“Do you know what I meant although I said the wrong thing? Probably if I try to self correct over the next few minutes I will continue to misspeak. So, I’m hoping you know what I…”

As an answer, she placed the keycard in his outstretched hand. “Don’t worry, I speak Zach.”

He laughed at her response, the reaction catching him by surprise. “Then you’d be the only one. I’m not sure I speak me anymore.”

Sarah has always fantasized about Zach, she figured she wasn’t his type.  She couldn’t have been more wrong.  These guys fall hard and fast, Zach is no exception.

The action is intense and the sex is hotter than hot. And all that’s before her brother finds out.

Lithium’s Rescue

by Sabrina York

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb

He will save her…unless she saves him first.

Fall Tree Blog - small review

Marilyn is an analyst for a high tech company with government contracts. When she discovers her boss is committing treason, she contacts an old family friend.

When he fails to show, she learns how far reaching her boss’ arm really is. He was watching and listening to her in her home and is sending someone to collect her.

Lithium is sent to collect an informant, and get her safely to headquarters. However, her boss has everyone one of his employees wired and tracked with some very high tech gadgets.

A favorite passage is a conversation they have while traveling to an airstrip.

“Aside from all that, I suspect you’re a perv.” This, she said in a soft, teasing tone.

“I’m not a perv.”

“You made me strip.”

“You were covered with trackers.”

“You watched.”

“I needed to make sure we got them all.”

“”Do you suppose there was one up my ass?”

“Do you want me to check?”

That shut her up. It was a long while before she said, “You rubbed your erection against me.”

“I did not.” His neck heated.

“You did too. Back there in the stairwell. I felt it.”

Prickles danced on his spine. “I was not rubbing my erection against you. I was trying to make you shut up.”

“Is that how you make a woman shut up? A coo. “Rub your cock against her?”

“The idea has merit.” Oh yeah. He could visualize just the thing. The perfect way to make her shut up. Probably not a good idea while he was driving.

I love Marilyn, so much spunk, and Lithium just falls into her traps. Good thing she’s not a bad guy.  Lots of heat in more ways than one. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

Thallium’s Submission

by Anna Alexander

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb
From now on the only orders he will follow are hers.

Fall Tree Blog - small review

A witness against a gang helping Red Wolf by providing a safe transport from Dallas to Mexico, is due to testify, against her ex-husband, the leader of the gang. Being under protective custody, in a safe house with two Texas marshals isn’t enough. There is a contract out on her and they won’t stop looking until the threat to their passageway is eliminated. This book explodes with action practically from the first page.  The bad guys show up at the same time as the Elite crew and getting Athena out safe becomes difficult.

I mean really who do you trust when everyone around you is shooting?

After a second location is compromised, Thallium takes off with Athena and disposes of all tracking devices even his own. His only thoughts to keep her safe and off the grid until the trial. The man has some pretty cool secrets.

One of my favorite scenes is their first morning together and it begins to show Thallium’s deep need to take care of her in other ways than just protection.

“Don’t get up on my account. I can take care of myself. Besides you need rest too.”

“I want to take care of you. Why don’t you go freshen up while I start b-breakfast?

I need to do a thorough check of  our provisions anyway. Make sure we have everything we need for the next two weeks. I bought you some clothes, but…”

“But what?”

He glanced away as a bit of pink hit his cheeks. “I like the way you look wearing my t-shirt.”

Oh, yeah. She was going to enjoy their time in captivity.

“I’ll keep that in mind,” she said, and picked up the bag he had placed by the front door. “I won’t be long.”

From here on it gets really interesting. I loved the build of this relationship. It’s sweet and it’s hot and you almost forget for a moment there is danger.

Nickel’s Wounds

by Saranna DeWylde

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb

Hell hath no fury like a Marine who’s lost her way. Beauty was once her currency, but for a woman who can’t feel anything but agony, she has nothing left. Except the vengeance that could destroy the one man whose love could teach her how to save herself.

Fall Tree Blog - small review

Nickel’s wounds are much deeper than the external ones and not all are from her service. Her need for revenge is intense and in this offering of the series we see the characters as who they once were as well as who they are today. This passage is from Marcus’ thoughts after giving Katarina a massage to help her pain. It really brings his devotion to her and her trust in him to the forefront.

When not on a mission, he preferred to sleep naked, but he changed in to a pair of boxer briefs and slid in to the bed.

She sighed in  her sleep and turned into him, blanket wrapped tightly around herself.

They’d slept together on missions, had huddled together for warmth and safety.

But this was the first time she’d fallen asleep after her massage, in his bed, and had asked him to stay with her.

He stared out into the darkness for a long time before he slept. As close as he was to her at the moment, within a breath of touch, he’d never felt farther away.

Marcus/Tin has to go back to his roots as a gang member to secure an invitation to  Fedir Yukodvich’s Clubhouse . To attend a gathering of heavy hitters in human trafficking buying and selling. The problem, he has to go  in with Nickel/Katarina and is afraid the mission will throw them both into a place from which they will never recover.

Katarina knows this mission can change the two of them forever, but she never imagined the depth of those changes. She gets pain at touch but still uses her body in missions by turning herself off, her way of surviving. Only Marcus can touch her without that pain most times, and only because of their deep, trusting, friendship.

This book had me crying and holding my breath a good deal of the time.  Very emotional and very tense read. I loved and felt every single word.

Titanium’s Sacrifice

by Jennifer Kacey

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb

Titanium. Warbucks. Commander. Brother. He is all of those things. And none of them. Giving up everything to save the men and women under his command was easy until it comes to one…last…sacrifice

Fall Tree Blog - small review

Titanium’s story is perhaps the most emotional of all of the previous. In this one we learn why Titanium is so invested in bringing down Red Wolf, why he has no choice. It caused my heart to ache as I read the explanation as given to Chrome and Steele. The betrayal by one of their own, brought to light as well as the reasons behind Elite Recon being formed and how and why everyone was extracted instead of just Titanium’s team.

We meet Charles the man behind Titanium, the one who takes the weight of the world and his teams on his shoulders with only Poppy, Raine and his precious dog Annie as his support system.

We discover the secret longing Raine has for her charge and see her complete devotion to him not only as a patient but as a man. One of my favorite scenes is when the team gangs up on him and gifts him with a way to ride on a motorcycle again. Which leads to the admission of his love and lust for Raine. This is a little peek.

The crank of the engine turning over and the throaty growl bouncing around the hangar sucker punched him in the gut.

“Coming?” She asked louder than the last time to be heard over the call of the bike. “I’ve been riding for years if it makes you feel any better. No one else is here so it’s totally up to you. No one will make you feel bad if you don’t come.”

“None but those who have bets placed on whether or not I’ll pussy out.”

Her laugh sounded like sex with the purr of the engine seducing him. “Well, there is that but you can deal with them tomorrow. I can handle a big machine between my legs.” She didn’t pause for him to make some funny retort at her innuendo, not that he could have, since his mouth had gone dry. “Take a walk on the wild side, Charles. I promise to keep your virtue safe.”

He took a step forward, reaching for her, and then another.

Her palm slid along his, guiding him behind her. She was already seated and he swung a leg over the seat and sat down. Tucking up close behind her, there was no way she could miss he was hard. “And what about your virtue? Who will protect yours while we’re out?”

So many secrets are revealed on the difficult road leading all of them slowly and somewhat painfully to become a family not by blood but choice.

A story that brings tears and laughter, pain and healing. Keep the tissues close, you’ll need a lot of them.

Bravo, Jennifer! A fitting close to this installment of the Elite Warrior Series. I can’t wait to see what’s next for these amazing men and women.

SummerBlog My Review

This book was a gift from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Looking for that sexy read for the pool or the beach? Well this is the book for you.

Paige Barber needed this week of vacation to totally unwind.  Her job as a PR agent for Rock Stars was wearing on her.  Wanting lots of peace and quiet to start her “tell all book”, she accepted her best friend Marlee’s offer of her vacation home in the Caribbean.  All she had to do was relax and enjoy Jimmy the pool boy.

They say first impressions are lasting and in this case I cannot refute that claim.

I think one of the best scenes is in the beginning of the book.

Leaving my clothes in a pile on the floor, I made a beeline for the pool.
And froze.
There was a man standing in the kitchen, gaping at me. A man. Not a boy.
And hell, was he gorgeous. He was tall and broad and had a shock of dark curls framing his tanned face. His features were sculpted perfection, high cheekbones, a strong, square chin and a long blade of a nose. His eyes were a chocolate brown and laced with dark lashes, magnified through his black horn-rimmed glasses.
I don’t know about you, but black horned-rimmed glasses on a hunky man has always turned me on.
He wore an apron emblazoned with the words Stud Chef over a black tee. I thought the apron was awfully cute, especially on such a manly man. The biceps bulging from the tight sleeves of his tee didn’t hurt. And he had a spatula in his hand. Another thing I’ve always found very attractive in a man.
Stud Chef seemed to sum it all up perfectly.
As beautiful as he was, he didn’t seem very bright. He stared at me, slack-jawed. A muscle worked in his cheek. He swallowed. Stammered. A burble of nonsense.
Yeah. Not too bright.
This had to be Jimmy.
Just as Marlee had described him.
“I’m Paige,” I said breezily, padding past him toward the pool. The glimmering water was tantalizing. I desperately needed a dip. “I’m going for a swim. Can you put my bags in a room?” I glanced at him and jabbed a thumb behind me. “They’re in the hall.”
“I…ah…” Again, with the flapping lips. They were beautiful lips, though. “Um. Sure?”
“Awesome.”
Yeah. He was a gorgeous piece of manflesh, Marlee’s pool boy. But a fairly dim bulb.
Which was a pity. Because physically, he was perfect. Physically, he made me drool a little in my mouth.
Okay. A lot.
But to really attract me, I needed a guy who was smart. And funny and playful. If he could not be a douchenozzle, that would be nice too.
But for me, lack of smarts was a deal killer. As cute as they were, sexy glasses couldn’t cover up stupid.
I passed the marble island in the middle of the airy kitchen, which opened to a charming breakfast nook. Something nasty hit my olfactory process. I wrinkled my nose and glanced at the pan on the stove.
“Your eggs are burning.” Charring, actually.
He flinched and tore his eyes from me and stared down at the pan, as though he couldn’t quite grasp the import of what I’d said.
Awesome. He couldn’t cook either.
What a pity.

Jimmy wasn’t what she expected, and well I don’t think Jimmy quite expected her either.

I found myself giggling at some of the antics in this book and fanning myself through others.  I really can’t say too much without spoiling it, so you’ll have to read it yourself.

Definitely a fun read with lots of really hot sex with a really hot Pool boy.

Excerpt

The house was quiet and shadowed as I padded back to the pool. I didn’t see any sign of Jimmy, which was just as well. My dreams had been filled with him; he’d haunted every crevice of my sleep. I felt like I’d been steeped in him, reliving every touch, every glance, every fantasy.

Those dreams clung to my consciousness, as dreams sometimes do, stoking a hunger I hadn’t even realized I had.

I’d been kind of joking when I’d invited Jimmy to my room, but in truth, it hadn’t been a joke at all. I wanted him. Really wanted him. Needed him, maybe.

Needed the oblivion a wild, steamy, pointless affair could provide.

My ego ached after Harlan’s betrayal, but it was more than that. It was more than assuaging a hit to my self-esteem.

I simply wanted Jimmy.

Wanted him in a way I’d never wanted a man before.

Maybe it was the isolation. Maybe it was the magnificent surroundings. Maybe it was simply the fact that he was hotter than hot. Certainly hotter than Harlan with his bad-boy-biker persona, his bull ring. His tattoos. Nothing about him had been real in the end. Nothing about us had been either.

The tiny lights strung around Marlee’s patio glowed as they bobbed in the breeze. The waters of the hot tub steamed a warm welcome, bathed in a surreal blue that shone like a beacon in the gathering night.

I tossed my towel on a lounge chair and stepped in. And hissed.

Warmth lapped at me. I sank, allowing the water to consume me slowly. My skin shivered as I eased deeper, all the way to my neck. I turned around and leaned against one of the benches formed in the tile and closed my eyes.

Heaven.

I owed Marlee. And I owed her big time.

This place was, indeed, heaven on earth. And Jimmy… Well, the jury was still out on that one. Marlee had been frank. “Paige,” she’d said. “You need to get laid. And trust me, if anyone can help you forget about that douchebag Harlan Rivers, it’s my Jimmy.” I tried not to let it bug me that she’d put it that way. My Jimmy. Not that I had any ownership of him. Not that I wanted it.

I just wasn’t used to sharing men with my best friend.

Remembering the ripple of his pec beneath my palm, I nibbled my lip.

I could probably get over it…

“May I join you?”

I opened my eyes at the deep voice, at the question tinged with a throb.

My heart stuttered. My breath caught.

Gawd.

Jimmy. Standing there next to the hot tub, wearing nothing but a tight black Speedo. Everything I had imagined under his casual clothes, everything I had hoped for, was there. Thick muscles roping his chest and forearms, thighs like tree trunks, a flat, taut belly, sculpted abs and a tantalizing dark line arrowing toward a magnificent bulge.

I nearly swallowed my tongue.

“May I?”

Oh lord, I’d been ogling. “Yes. Please. Come on in. The water’s fine.”

Yeah, lame. Cliché. But there you go. It was the best I could come up with. My brain, apparently, was on vacation as well.

The water rose as he eased in. His groan echoed off the shadows. He’d taken off his glasses so I had an unfettered view of his face. When his eyes closed, in that moment of bliss as the water enveloped him, when his lips parted…I thought, perhaps, that was what his O-face would look like.

One could hope.

Many men were like monkeys when their crisis descended. Which was why I rarely looked. I was possessed of the sharp, sudden urge to see Jimmy in ecstasy. To watch him come.

Okay, not so sudden. But definitely sharp.

Though he sat across from me, the hot tub wasn’t too big, and his foot nudged mine. I didn’t jerk away, though my first inclination was to do just that. I reminded myself that any advance had to come from him. Jimmy was Marlee’s pool boy, not a sex slave. And if he wasn’t interested—I ignored the dark dip of my mood at the thought—that would be that.

So when his foot grazed mine, I steeled my spine and left it there. Next to his.

Our gazes tangled. His toe slipped up my ankle, a tentative foray. A fluttery thrill, an unexpected shower of arousal, trickled through me.

I stroked back.

His focus on me intensified, though it flicked, for a fraction of an instant, to my breasts. They bobbed in the water, as breasts often did, buoyed and jubilant to be released from the bondage of gravity. He licked his lips. My nipples pebbled as I imagined his mouth on them.

His eyes narrowed then raked their way back to my face. “How-how did you sleep?”

Was it my imagination or was he struggling for words? As though casual talk had no place between us, but he needed the lubricant.

The thought of lubricant, and what we could do with it, flashed through my brain. Fizzled there, incinerating all other preoccupations.

“I slept well.”

“Good.” A rough growl. “The room was to your liking?”

“Yes.”

“The bed…comfortable?”

The word bed made me shudder. Maybe it was just the way he said it, infusing it with meaning, intent.

Or maybe it was simply the fact that he’d slipped nearer.

The breeze shifted and brought his scent to me on wispy tendrils. That intoxicating bite of his cologne made my head spin.

“Are you…hungry?” His voice rumbled, thrummed with double entendre.

“Not for food.” A whisper. I barely choked it out. Because he’d come close, and closer still. “But first… Rules.”

His brow wrinkled. “Rules?”

I nodded primly. Best to just get this out. I held up a finger. “One. Always use protection.”

“P-protection?” He stared at me like a deer in the headlights. Seriously? Had he not known it was going this way? Had he not suspected?

Or was he shy?

I kind of liked that. I kind of liked the fantasy that he didn’t screw Marlee and every one of the friends she sent to him.

He cleared his throat and nodded. “Okay. Protection.” He swallowed. “Any other rules?”

“Just one.” It had to be said. “No talking about Marlee.”

His features froze. His lips opened and closed. “No, ah, talking about Marlee?”

“Exactly.” I pushed off, floated into his arms. He caught me. His hands skated over my wet skin reverently, sending ripples in his wake. “I don’t want anything between us, Jimmy. Not anything at all.”

“Oh God.” He yanked me close. It was a shock, the feel of him so hard and rough against my body, but a delightful one.

“Nothing between us,” I whispered.

“Nothing.”

a dingy bar in Deep Ellum, he suspects she’s investigating the team. And that’s
something he just cannot allow to happen. Too many lives are at stake. He will

story from coming out? He might even tie her to the bed.
Nothing is off the table when it comes to keeping his
brothers safe. Nothing. It’s a damn shame she’s everything he’s ever wanted.
It’s a damn shame her touch warms his cold, dead heart.
READ AN EXCERPT
As she rounded the corner, her steps stalled.
Because there he was, leaning against his bike. Waiting for
her.
Well, she hoped he was waiting for her. When he saw her, he
unfolded his long legs and stood.
“Did you change your mind?” she asked, trying for a flippant
tone.
His beautiful eyebrow arched. “About what?”
“Taking me home?” Might as well be brash.
He gestured to his bike. “My alternator is shot. I’m waiting
for a ride.”
“Ah.” Why disappointment flooded her was a mystery. Or not.
“Was there…an offer on the table?” His voice was a low melody
that danced on the skeins of air. It was annoying. And not.
“Hey. I’m not the one who walked away.” She tried not to let
her petulance show.
He stepped closer and searched her face. She let him. Not
hiding at all. Or not hiding everything. She let her interest show.
“Let’s get one thing straight, Pigtails—”
“Pigtails?”
“Yeah. Pigtails.” He flicked her hair, reminding her how
she’d pulled it up. She’d been going for backwoods innocent, but it might have
backfired on her. With a harsh movement, she yanked out the rubber bands and
her hair fell around her face. His lashes flickered. Something that looked like
hunger washed over his features.
“What do you want to get straight?”
His jaw clenched. “I don’t like questions. Pure and simple.
Understood?”
The way he said the word, with a thread of dominance in his
tone, sent a shiver through her. She lowered her eyes and nodded. “Understood.
So…do you? Want to come home with me? No questions asked?”
“Maybe.” He checked his watch. “Looks like my ride isn’t
going to show, anyway.”
Hardly the flood of interest she would have preferred.
Irritation rippled. “Or I can give you a lift home.” And when his cheek
bunched, “Or call you a cab.”
“I’d rather go home with you.” He stepped closer, too close,
and pulled her against him. His fingers were harsh on her flesh, his insistence
alluring. Yes, this was what she wanted. Something rough. Something ruthless.
Something demanding.
Hunger rose in her, swamping her desire to finish this story
and get back home. Hell, she could probe him with questions later. After. This
need was far more pressing.
When he lowered his head, she caught a whiff of his
aftershave and her knees locked. He was tall, muscled and rough around the
edges. Just the kind of guy she’d always craved.
His lips touched hers and she nearly collapsed. It was a
wild rush, a tumult of sensation. For a starved woman, as she was, it was
irresistible. She couldn’t help but kiss him back, a manic frenzy. Her passion
seemed to spur his on, and he wrapped himself around her, tipped his head and
deepened the kiss. His hands roved over her back, her hips, her ass. Nothing
tentative. Nothing tender.
When he lifted his head, she was a bowl of Jell-O. Ready and
willing.
“So do you want to?” Her voice caught on the invitation.
“Yeah.” He yanked her tighter and his cock gouged into her
belly, hard and needy. “Yeah. I want to. Just no more questions.”
No more questions.
Right.
