An ex-Navy SEAL agrees to play fake lover
for the Maid of Honor at a destination wedding
only to discover that what happens on a Caribbean Island
can sometimes follow you home.

Nicholas Falcone, aka Nikko, aka Falcon, is five months out from active SEAL duty, putting his pre-service accounting degree to use while going to law school at night. He’d love to take a vacation between semesters, but every buck is earmarked for his education. When a fellow accountant approaches him about his sister needing an escort for a destination wedding, Nikko jumps at the idea. With the wedding families footing the bill, what does he have to lose?

Surgeon Dr. Jennifer Pierce is still stinging from a broken engagement. Going to a destination wedding at the Sand Castle Resort in the Caribbean would be great if only her ex-fiancé and his new wife weren’t also attending. Her options are to find a date or not go, but not going isn’t really an option. That means letting her brother set her up with a guy from his accounting office…Heaven forbid. When did accountants start looking like this?

** Cold Beer ** is part of the Diamond Lakes, Texas Series and Sand Castle Resort series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone. They do not have cliffhanger endings.

**Hot SEAL, Cold Beer** is also in the “SEALs in Paradise” connected series. Each book in the multi-author branded SEALs in Paradise series can be read stand-alone, and individual books do not have to be read in any particular order.

review-fall-cornucopia

I am really loving this multi author series. In this one Nicholas ‘Nikko’ Falcone agrees to help out a co-worker’s sister by attending a destination wedding with her. He needs a vacation after tax season and this trip is all expenses paid.

Dr. Jennifer Pierce wasn’t looking forward to this wedding. He ex would be there with his pregnant wife. The one he got pregnant while he was engaged to her. Jenn was really hoping the guy her twin brother is sending her will be the perfect date, she couldn’t face this event alone.

These two have an attraction neither saw coming, which is fortunate since they would be portraying lovers on this trip.

A favorite scene is when they board the plane and encounter Jenn’s ex for the first time.

“Jennifer.”

She jerked toward her name and looked at her ex. He was dressed in khakis, a green polo shirt, and a puzzled expression on his face. Had his hair always been that thin? And his face…had it always looked so sallow? For some reason, she didn’t remember his lips being so thin and his cheeks so puffy.

Her stomach twisted with nerves as she faced her past for the first time. “Lamar. Sherice.” And that was as nice as she planned to be.

“Hi, Jennifer,” Sherice said, shoving her hand under Lamar’s elbow so she could wrap her arm around his.

Jennifer wanted to laugh. The woman was staking her claim as if Jennifer might try to lure him back.

“Who’s your, um, friend?” Lamar asked.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” She looked down at their fingers intertwined. “This is Nicholas Falcone. Sweetheart, this is Lamar Johns and his wife, Sherice.”

Nicholas extended his right hand across Jennifer. “Nice to meet you. Call me Nikko.”

“Hmm,” Lamar said. “I didn’t know you were bringing a date.”

Nicholas chuckled. “A date?” He knocked his shoulder against Jennifer’s. “It’s been a while since we were just dating. What a fun idea. A weeklong date.”

She giggled and almost gagged at that. She never giggled. The sound had the puzzled look on Lamar’s face even more strangled.

“It will be fun. Remember those early days? How nervous I was around you?”

Nicholas chuckled and put his hand over their interlaced fingers. “Like it was yesterday. I’m so glad I hung in.”

“Me, too.”

“Sir, madam,” the airline attendant said. “You two need to find your seats so we can take off.”

Lamar gestured to the two across from Jennifer and Nicholas. “Can we sit here by our friends?”

Nicholas squeezed her hand, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw him shake his head at the attendant. The young lady, as enthralled by Nicholas’s smiled as Jen was, shook her head at Lamar.

“I’m sorry, sir. No. Please take your assigned seats.”

Sherice pulled on Lamar’s arm. “Come on, Lamar. We are in the first row.”

Lamar allowed Sherice to tug him forward, but he scowled over his shoulder.

“I don’t think your ex is happy you have a date,” Nicholas said.

“Yeah, well, breaks my heart.” She leaned on his shoulder. “I remember him being better looking.”

“You can do so much better.” He leaned over and kissed her.

“Okay, you two. Knock it off,” Deloris said from the row in front of them.

“Yeah,” Tony, Deloris’s fiancé, said. “You’re making the rest of us look like slackers.”
D’Alba, Cynthia. Hot SEAL, Cold Beer (SEALs in Paradise) (Kindle Locations 561-583). Riante, Inc.. Kindle Edition.

The teasing playfulness of the interactions between these two eventually comes to a head. I loved the slow build of this relationship and then the heat that reaches white hot.

Plenty of fun with the activities the bride and groom had planned for this week of celebration and an encounter with the ex that had me cheering Nikko on.

Laughter, fun, snark, sizzle and so much more, make this a must read!

blurb-fall-cornucopia

Ellie Gorman hasn’t had a vacation in years. Working herself to the bone day and night on Wall Street has kept her mind from wandering too often to the only man she’s ever loved. The man she left fourteen years ago after their high school graduation. When her best friend lures her to join a girls’ cruise, Ellie relents. The sun will do her good. Relaxation is her top priority. No stress for a full week.

Noah Seager has spent more than a decade fulfilling his dream of joining the Navy SEALs and serving his country. But he’s exhausted and worn out. It’s time to retire, find himself, and start a new chapter in his life. A vacation with his best childhood friend is the perfect way to decompress. Even better—a cruise.

Neither Noah nor Ellie are prepared to run into each other at the bar on the lido deck as soon as they board the ship. They’ve been set up, and they plan to toss their meddling friends overboard…as soon as they can find them.

Fourteen years ago they’d been very much in love. They’d known. Everyone had known. And then the bottom had fallen out of their worlds. Ellie has a secret she has never shared with a single person. Noah has lived with the pain, hurt, and frustration of being dumped for unknown reasons. He never should have let her go, and that realization slams into him with a powerful punch as the two get reacquainted.

While Ellie struggles with admitting her deep feelings for Noah have never subsided, Noah fights his own internal battle. She insists she can’t and won’t ever reveal the nature of their breakup. Can Noah convince her to let him back into her life anyway? And more importantly, can he let their past go, bury it, and live a fulfilling life with the woman he never forgot, knowing he will never have all the answers?

review-fall-cornucopia

I am really loving this new multi-author series as they take on this SEAL Team with their go to drinks as their handles. I have to go out of order for a moment for this release day, but I will be reviewing them all.

In this one best friends pull off a really dirty trick. Noah and Ellie run into each other at the bar where they were expecting to meet up with their best friends. Fourteen years have passed since Ellie broke up with Noah and while seeing him opens wounds best left hidden, they both figured they could deal. That is until they realize they would be sharing the cabin.

She glanced around. “This is my room,” she repeated as if echoing her words would make them more real.

“Apparently it’s my room too.” Yes, he was going to throw Layton overboard. Karla too. If he found them fast enough, maybe they could swim to shore without drowning. What were they thinking?

“We can’t share a room,” she stated.

“Obviously,” he agreed completely. Not a chance in hell. Perhaps he could take a few minutes to be nice to a girl he’d once dated in high school upon running into her for the first time in fourteen years, but this was asking too much. She fucking broke up with him. She literally broke his heart, though he’d never admit that out loud. He’d been a dude, for Christ’s sake. He still was a dude.

She licked her lips. “We need to find our stupid friends.”

“Agreed. I haven’t had any luck. They’re both ignoring my calls and texts. I don’t even know what room they’re in. I assumed I was sharing this one with Layton.” He pointed at the bed. “Though I was shocked to find only one bed.” He shuddered. The idea of sleeping in that bed with Ellie was almost as distasteful as doing so with his friend.

She reached down, picked up her bag, set it on the bed, and began to dig around in it. “I haven’t checked my phone for a while. I was late. Almost missed the final boarding. In my rush, I hurried straight for the bar where Karla told me to meet her.”

He couldn’t hold back his sarcasm when he said, “Imagine that. Layton also told me to meet him at the bar.”

She found her phone, ignoring him, and touched the screen. “Dammit.”

“What? Please tell me Karla at least left you a message.”

She held it out, screen toward him. “Not a single word since I told her I was going to make it by the skin of my teeth a few hours ago.”

“Fuck,” he proclaimed a bit louder than he intended. What he wanted to do was grab something heavy and throw it across the room. But he’d never been a violent man in his civilian life before, and he wouldn’t start now.

“Okay,” Ellie started calmly. “So, we get another room. I’ll go to the front desk and straighten this out. You keep trying to find our friends.”

She turned around, but just as she reached for the doorknob, he spoke again. “How close are you and Karla?”

“She’s my best friend. Why?” Ellie looked at him over her shoulder, her brows drawn together.

“Just wondering if you’d mind if I tossed their bodies over the side of the ship when I find them.”

She gave him a slow smile, one like the million he’d received from her when they were teenagers. Conspiring. Cute. Sexier than he remembered. “Be my guest.” And then she was gone.
Becca Jameson. Hot SEAL, Red Wine (Kindle Locations 290-314). Becca Jameson Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Ellie had her reasons for breaking up all those years ago, and trust me when I say my brain was working overtime to figure out her secret.

Noah wants to know the why, even as they make the topic off limits. I found myself wanting to smack some sense into Ellie as they plan to enjoy the cruise and the excursions.

It’s obvious these two belong together and Noah certainly pulls out all the stops to break through her barriers and learn the truth.

Sweet, tearful, fun and romantic, I could put this book down.

blurb-fall-cornucopia

He wants seclusion. She craves the spotlight. The deal they make could give them both what they need…if they don’t kill each other first. Home renovation has never been so hot!

Navy SEAL Clay “Dirtman” Hagan’s retirement plans are simple. Buy the dilapidated beachfront cottage he found listed for a song, fix it up, and live out his days in solitude. Everything is set until an anonymous bidder drives up the price of his future paradise.

TV talk show host Tasha Jones is flying high, until one word–CANCELED–sends her crashing. Now she’s looking to resurrect her career with a new home renovation show if they can get around the buyer standing in the way of the perfect property.

When the competition turns out to be none other then the obnoxious a-hole from her embarrassing drunken one-night stand, the battle for the property really heats up as the insults–and the sparks–fly. The producer notices the chemistry between them and decides the viewers will too and the concept for “Hot House” is born.

If Clay agrees to have the self-centered star and her cameras in his house for the duration of the show, he walks away as the owner in the end. If Tasha can put up with living in the bungalow with the Neanderthal control-freak during the construction, she gets a hit show and her career back. Win-win.

It shouldn’t be too hard since the director loves when they argue on camera, which is good since they agree on nothing. Well, almost nothing. They do both agree that they pretty much hate each other and neither one wants a repeat of their one night together . . . So why does it keep happening?

Hot SEAL, Dirty Martini is a STANDALONE full-length novel. It is a romantic comedy with an enemies-to-lovers theme. It contains an HEA and NO cliffhanger.

review-fall-cornucopia

Clay ‘Dirtman’ Hagan’s retirement goal is to buy the little beachfront cottage for a song, and spend the rest of his time fixing it up, fishing and lounging on the deck.

Tasha Jones’ show is cancelled and she sort of blew up live on camera after she found out. Now she has a chance to redeem herself with a new home improvement reality show. The producers want another host and have already bid on the property, Clay’s property.

This is a favorite scene when Clay discovers the plans, there is some language but it works in this situation.

There it was in living color in the photo on the cell phone—his house.

“That’s my house.” In his shock, he said it aloud, whether he’d meant to or not.

One of the women glanced up at him, looking surprised. “You’re the seller?”

“No, I’m the other buyer you keep outbidding.” He scowled, trying not to tell them exactly what he thought of their swooping in and trying to steal his purchase.

Tasha turned to face him. “Then it’s not your house, is it?  If they bid higher, and the seller accepted their offer over yours, then it’s their house.”

Clay stood to his full height and took a step forward, closing in on Tasha, knowing full well how intimidating he could be when looming over someone smaller.

He’d backed men far larger than her into corners with his glare alone.

“Well, Miss Know-It-All, the seller hasn’t accepted their offer. So it’s nobody’s house yet.”

“I have no doubt they can outbid any amount you can come up with.” Her gaze dropped down his body, as it had the night before when she’d been sizing him up.

Today, dressed in a sweaty T-shirt featuring a martini glass and the words I like it dirty, with PT shorts and running shoes, he probably looked even worse than yesterday in her eyes.

His brows slammed down over his eyes in an angry frown. “What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”

“Nothing.” She smirked and lifted one bare shoulder, ignoring he’d leaned in even closer to glare at her.

Normally, he’d enjoy that she wore a barely-there sundress with plenty of cleavage showing. Today, his blood pressure skyrocketed skyrocketed instead. “You know nothing about me,” he spat.

“And you know nothing about me, in spite of . . . whatever happened.” Her expression turned insecure, questioning, almost fearful.

His mouth dropped open in realization. “Oh my God. You can’t remember last night, can you?”
Johnson, Cat. Hot SEAL, Dirty Martini (SEALs in Paradise) (pp. 41-42). Cat Johnson. Kindle Edition.

In spite or rather because of the friction between these two, the producers pair them up. Clay will get his house, Tasha will get her show, but can these two survive the renovation.

I laughed a lot, the sneaking around to get time alone was hysterical. However the reason for some of the subterfuge was not as Clay and his buddies meet up to honor a fallen team member.

Laugh out loud funny, sexy, with some tears, all in a true to form reality show but in a book.

review-fall-cornucopia

This book closely intertwines with Hot SEAL, Salty Dog, and gives us the story from Carter and Gina’s point of view and goes beyond that into their hot and heavy relationship.

This is a favorite getting to know you scene.

Already, she was hyper-aware of his every move, his every change of expression. All he had to do was give her a steamy look, and her body was primed for sex.

The tension between them was palpable. Even walking toward the restaurant, the fine hairs on her arms lifted, pulled toward him as though he was a magnet. When he cupped her elbow to direct her toward a table, her nipples prickled instantly.

They placed their food orders then ordered drinks. She asked for a Sex on the Beach, and his mouth twitched.

“What?”

“You’re having my drink.”

“Your drink?”

He smiled. “You know, a lot of SEALs have names, handles, that they earn or their team members give them. I was on a team where we were named after our favorite drinks.”

She arched an eyebrow. “So, Sex on the Beach is yours?”

He shrugged. “Not my favorite. I prefer beer, but that was already taken. My buddies knew I loved my beach time, so they named me after the drink, shortening it to ‘Beach-boy’, because Sex on the Beach is a mouthful.”

“Guess that’s better than Trip,” she muttered.

He raised both dark blond eyebrows. “Why? That’s your name.”

“My name’s spelled with two Ps. They call me T-r-i-p.”

He blinked. “Why?”

She grimaced. “When I first started bounty hunting—”

“You’re a bounty hunter?” His teeth flashed white in his tanned face as he grinned.

“In training.” She rolled her eyes. “I’ve had a few…accidents.”

“Trip…? Nooo.” He pressed his lips together as though trying to stop another grin.

She wrinkled her nose. “Laugh all you want. My fellow hunters certainly have.”

Their food arrived, and Gina was glad for the interruption. They tucked into fish tacos with slices of salted avocado. As they ate, Carson regaled her with tales from some of his missions in the sandbox—the funny things that had happened as opposed to the grim.

Given her experiences in the Middle East, she knew he was glossing over some shit, but she let him because she enjoyed his humor. “So, you’re lucky, huh?” She shook her head. “Must have run out because you met me, the unluckiest bounty hunter ever. Did you lose your St. Christopher medal? I noticed you’re not wearing it.”

His eyes lost their sparkle. “I gave it to a friend. On my last mission, we were entering a house when an IED went off. I caught a large splinter of door in the back. His injury was worse. Thought for sure he was dead. Before they medevacked him, I gave him the medallion. Told him he could have my luck.”

She reached out and placed her hand over his. “Did he make it?”

“Yeah. Fractured skull. A TBI—traumatic brain injury. He was medically retired.” He gave her a small, tight smile. “Now, he gets to spend all his time with his wife and kids.”

“I’m sorry he was hurt.”

He shrugged. “Happens. A lot, actually.”

“So that was your last mission…?”

“Yeah, I got out. Handed in my papers the minute I got back to Coronado.
Devlin, Delilah. Hot SEAL, S*x on the Beach (SEALs in Paradise) (Kindle Locations 282-308). Kindle Edition.

These two are definitely made for each other and when Gina’s boss calls with an assignment, she enlists Carter’s help.

This book sizzles and has a few very tense moments, some laughs and is a page turner as these two try to define their relationship. I think I need to read the other Montana Bounty Hunters now.
