Falling in love could expose a woman in hiding, in the fourth Ace Security novel from New York Times bestselling author Susan Stoker.

Former mercenary Ryder Sinclair’s stunning discovery that he has three half brothers in Castle Rock, Colorado, is giving them all the chance to color in the spaces of their tragic pasts. For Ryder, establishing roots is made all the more desirable by Felicity Jones. But if Ryder’s instincts are correct, this breathtaking beauty is in trouble.

Castle Rock isn’t Felicity’s home. Like her false identity, it’s just a cover. All she wants is enough cash to keep moving to another temporary hideaway—to stay on the run from a secret that’s haunted her for years. As safe as Ryder’s strong embrace makes her feel, she fears that falling for him, and staying in Colorado, will put everyone she’s come to love in danger.

The more Ryder learns about Felicity, the more determined he is not to let her go. It’s time for her to stop running—even as a relentless danger closes in, threatening their love and their lives.

Winter Blog Review

Once again Susan Stoker has kept me up way past my bedtime. Not complaining mind you, just a fact since I couldn’t put this book down. Ever since we met Felicity I wanted her to find her happily ever after.

Felicity just wants her money and to leave town. There’s a reason she doesn’t have her name anywhere on the Gym with Cole. Now that reason is close again and she has to leave to protect her friends. Fortunately for her they aren’t having any of it and the Sinclair brothers including Ryder are ready to step in to stop her from running.

Ryder immediately senses Felicity is in trouble and needs a way out of it. First she’s going to have to trust him with the whole truth.

I couldn’t stop reading, with every page you learn something new and terrifying about Felicity’s stalker and what he’s put her through for years. Now he’s close again, sending her things and putting things in her apartment.

This book was scary on a number of levels but there was humor, love and damn does it get steamy. The close ties of the Sinclair family that expanded to include Ryder will bring a tear or two. As will that ‘OMG No!’ moment Susan is noted for.

We meet the Mountain Mercenaries in this book, as they help unravel the mystery of just who this Joseph Waters is. I look forward to seeing how they find their HEAs.

A favorite scene is in the excerpt below. Be sure to read it.

5 Contented Purrs for Susan!

When the door to the office opened, Felicity wasn’t surprised to see Grace and her husband enter. And Blake and Nathan. She had no idea who the other man was, but she barely glanced at him. She turned to frown at Cole.

“Great. Now it’s five against one. You think intimidation will work? You should know me better than that.”

The unknown man pushed through the others to stand by her side. “Five against two.”

Felicity gaped at him. “Who the fuck are you?”

He held out his hand as if they were in the middle of a formal gathering. “Ryder Sinclair. And you?”

Felicity’s hand was moving before she could call it back. Manners her mom had instilled in her at an early age were hard to overcome. “Felicity Jones.”

The second Ryder gripped her hand, Felicity knew she was in trouble. His hand was warm, but not sweaty. He didn’t squeeze her hand too hard, but used just the right amount of pressure as he shook her hand. But more than that, the second he touched her, goose bumps raced down her arms. She had the feeling that if she threw herself into his arms, he’d keep her safe. She couldn’t take her eyes off his hazel ones. He looked familiar. She stiffened. Shit, had she met him before? “Have we met?” she blurted out as she tried to drop his hand.

Instead of looking offended or put out by her question, he merely shook his head and refused to let go. “No, we haven’t met . . . much to my disappointment. But we know each other now.”

Felicity felt a strong urge to burrow into his chest and let him take care of her. He was taller than she was by a couple of inches, the perfect height for her head to rest comfortably on his broad shoulder, but she straightened her spine and used her free hand to pry his fingers off her instead of throwing herself into his arms. She was an island. Couldn’t rely on anyone. Not if she wanted to keep them safe.

Patrick Cartright only had two more months in the Army before returning to Virginia. A new job with the Saints Protection & Investigations Agency awaited and offered a chance to be near family. Falling in love, while still in California, was not his intention.

Evie Sinclair, raised an Army brat with more relocations under her belt than she could remember, had no desire to move again. She was settled and planned on staying that way. Falling for a soldier did not fit into her plans.

But as they investigated the theft of military equipment from Evie’s company to Patrick’s base, they searched for the truth, while Evie tried to protect her heart. When Evie is threatened, Patrick rushes to save her, vowing to protect her at all costs.

Winter Blog Review

Evie and Patrick meet when a delivery from her company to the military is short. It was not a pleasant meeting for either of them.

When she runs into Patrick again in a social setting, the question arises of the investigation into the missing parts. This gets both of them thinking of the possibility of theft as opposed to just a mistake.

While there are many scenes that are favorites it is a single sentiment from Patrick’s grandfather that has become a favorite for me. This is the quote.

It takes time, patience, and care to build something. And I’m not only talkin’ about machines. But relationships as well.”
Jordan, Maryann. Special Forces: Operation Alpha: Protecting Love (Kindle Worlds Novella) (Saints Protection & Investigations Book 7) (Kindle Locations 110-111). Kindle Worlds. Kindle Edition.

As Evie and Patrick grow closer personally so does the evidence of organized theft.

This is a wonderful slow build of a relationship, fraught with doubts and plenty of heat. The added suspense of the missing equipment will keep you on the edge of your seat and holding your breath.

Even the strongest woman needs a shoulder to lean on…

Mason Sullivan remembers how he felt the day he learned his oldest brother wouldn’t be returning home. Not alive. Swearing he’d help others, he set a plan into motion. Flash forward…Mason has the life he wanted, but when a seductive, slice of heaven from his past comes back to Kerrville, his so-called “wonderful life” will have more holes than Swiss cheese. The only one who can fill the void is the same person who has the risk of flight. Sure, a cowboy has needs, and she certainly does make his head spin, but his heart isn’t immune to the beauty and he could lose her again…

Two things Kiernan Everhart loves most—her son and Double K Ranch. Years ago, she’d left home to pursue her dreams, but the big city wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Always there for her son, she helps him through the challenges of his medical condition, but sometimes even the strongest woman needs a shoulder to lean on. In Kerrville, she has the support of her family…and Mason Sullivan, the cowboy she stole kisses from back in the day. He’s grown into quite the perfect man and his bedside manner, as nurse and gentleman, sure can make a woman remember she’s more than a mother. She’d like to fall, right into his arms, but her priority is her son. And when her ex shows up, hijacking her happiness, all hell will break loose. Kiernan must perform damage control before the people she loves are hurt.

He didn’t plan to fall, but he did, and Mason would do anything to protect Kiernan and her son. He will not only have to face the demons of Kiernan’s past, but find out who is using scare tactics to send her packing. If it’s the last thing he’ll do, he’ll prove to her that he has the perfect place in his heart for her family.

Winter Blog Review

Hell Yeah is one of my favorite kindle worlds and Rhonda’s contributions never fail to please.

In this one we meet Kiernan and her son Cullen. She has returned to Kerrville after having her shop fail in California. Being with family and friends is what she believes they both need.

Mason has always been a little in love with Kiernan, beginning with a stolen kiss behind the barn when they were kids. Now he hopes he has a chance with her.

Now you know things can’t go smoothly and boy do they get out of whack fast. No one is more surprised than Kiernan when she is confronted by her ex, Cullen’s father as she is cleaning stalls on her family ranch.

This is a favorite scene and the prelude to many issues to come.

Not realizing she was no longer alone, she jumped at the sound of footsteps behind her. Whirling on her heels, she came face to face with a familiar grin. Her stomach twisted and her mind spun. “What are you doing here?”

Quinton Roads tugged off his black hat and hooked it on a nail. Dark hair, nice eyes, he was still a good-looking man, but a bit more polished and cocky than she generally liked. She wondered what she ever saw in him in the first place. He smiled, showing off a row of straight pearly whites, and then she remembered. His charm had been what pulled her in ten years ago, but it did nothing now. Thank God!

“Howdy, sweetheart. Long time no see.”

“Too soon if you ask me,” she muttered. She kept the shovel held mid-air as if it was a weapon, although it wasn’t her intention. “I asked you a question.”

“Ah, come on, Kiernan. Imagine my shock when I heard you were in town. Why didn’t you call me when you got here?”

“Oh, I don’t know, Quint. How the hell was I supposed to know you were here?”

He seemed to absorb her words, but quickly recovered. “You described Kerrville as being perfect, so I had to see it with my own eyes. I live here now.”

“This is my town, Quint. You couldn’t find another place to call home?”

“I knew you’d eventually come back.” He grabbed her elbow and she pulled away.

“If I’d known you were here, I wouldn’t have returned.” She cringed.

“That’s not right, baby doll.” He puffed out his bottom lip. “I’m hurt.”

“Why in God’s name would you have reason to be hurt?”

He sniffed, his smile returning. “Maybe because I’m your baby daddy.”

Her world seemed to crash around her ears. “Look up the definition for “daddy” and you won’t find your name anywhere. Now, dead-beat is a different story.” She turned and shoveled another bunch, then turned to drop the shovelful on top of the pile, but she missed her target. A clump fell over the rim and onto his polished boots. He jumped back, smirking. “Aw, shucks.” She bit back a snicker. “Sorry about that. My aim is a little off today.”
Rhonda Carver. Hell Yeah! Without You.(Kindle Locations 404-424).

I loved the way Kiernan takes charge and then confronts Mason to dispel any thoughts he might have of her still being involved with her ex. These two are perfect for each other and the temperature between them rises rapidly.

Mason’s interactions with Cullen are priceless. Family is well meaning but well you know how that stuff usually goes.

Plenty of things to make you laugh, sniffle and keep you on the edge of your seat as this tale unfolds.

Winter Blog Review

Now before you say anything this series is FORBIDDEN so if you can’t deal with that don’t bother reading any further.Natalie is a baker, but she really wanted to do some sort of pottery, but the town she’s in doesn’t have much in the line of arts and crafty stuff. At one point, after her husband’s death she thought to move possibly move and start over somewhere. Unfortunately her late husband’s alcoholism left her with no money and a house that is falling apart.

Her mother-in-law Dina, in an attempt to be helpful, calls her ex-husband and reveals Natalie’s plight. His guilt over not being around for most of his son’s life has him coming to her aid.

Now the attraction Natalie feels toward Vincent has her questioning her own motives, as does Vincent since the feelings appear to be mutual.

Plenty of twists to get to the very hot scenes. While this wasn’t a favorite for me, the whole alcoholism and the marriage time line bothered me. It was very hot and sexy and very much the forbidden relationship Carmen was going for.

Winter Blog Review

Heather Long takes us on a mystical journey, creating a world where just maybe, things would be better off unknown.

Cassandra has everything ready, her client will be pleased and then BOOM!

Gotta love the Boom! I really felt bad for Cassie she loses her assistant, is seriously injured, gets transported to Underhill where she is healed then set on a mission by the Fae Queen, Danae. Seven days to find out who made everything go boom and deal with him/her one way or another.

Helcyon is the Fae Lord assigned to assist and protect her by Danae, but there is another problem. Homeland Security is investigating this as well and their Special Agent Jacob Book just happens to be a wizard with a definite dislike of Helcyon. As this investigation begins something comes after Cassie leaving no doubt that she was meant to be the target.

This is a favorite scene when Cassie discovers the battle between these two internal battle.

The coppery scent of blood marred the night air flavored with jasmine and orchids. Cassie sucked in a deep breath. Her head was spinning. Looking around, she recognized the garden from her earlier visit, but it seemed darker, more sinister. The stars above shocked the senses as the Milky Way spiraled across the velvety darkness.

“What was that thing?” she asked, trying to get a grip on her equilibrium. Park. Explosion. Hospital. Underhill. Hospital. Special agent. Attack. Underhill again. Her head swam from the possibilities. So many questions.

No answers.

When neither man answered, Cassie focused on their antagonistic stances. Helcyon’s sword reflected the pale light of the crescent moon. Black blood marred the surface. Book stood a few feet away, hands spread, but not in supplication. Instead, his hands were actually glowing.

“Helcyon? Special Agent Book?”

The men ignored her, focused on each other. Cassie sucked in the perfumed air and stumbled forward, only to be pushed back. Helcyon shifted so that he remained between her and Book.

“Why are you two fighting?” Her heart raced, her head spun, and she thought she might throw up at any moment.

“He sees through the glamour, and he has magic,” Helcyon replied, silken steel in his voice.

“He’s a fucking elf, and he just took us Underhill.” Raw fury lined the special agent’s face.

“So?” Cassie blinked, digesting their nuggets of information and feeling a little belligerent. Her leg was on fire and she wanted desperately to sit down and not worry that the Homeland Security agent and her Elven bodyguard were about to tear each other into pieces.

“That thing we were fighting came from here.” Book said the last between his teeth. Sweat beaded along his forehead as though whatever he was doing took actual effort.

“Okay.” Cassie hated the weakened note in her voice, but the spinning in her head grew too intense to ignore. She sank to her knees. The edges of her vision went fuzzy. She touched a hand to the bloody welt on her leg. The leg felt on fire, but the skin was icy. Odd. “You two go ahead and kill each other. I’m going to pass out. Whoever wins should wake me up.”

“Cassandra?”

“Ms. Belle?”

Cassie faded away from the conversation, divorced from her own body. It was better to not feel the icy burn crawling through her veins. She floated between one moment and the next.

Appropriate, since she was Underhill.

“Truce?” Helcyon’s voice whispered along her consciousness like the gentlest of caresses.

“Peace.” The agent’s voice moved closer. “Did it mark her?”

“I see blood. I thought we moved her away before it could.”

“It was there for her.”

“I agree.”

“Why were you there, elf?”

“Why were you there, wizard?”

“My job.”

“Mine as well. Her leg. See the mark—poison in the blood.”

“What the hell was it?”

“It doesn’t matter now. We must get it out. You draw the poison. I will ease the pain.”
Heather Long. Hers to Bewitch (Kindle Locations 548-576). Kindle Edition.

One thing is for sure, Cassie needs both Helcyon and Jacob need to work together to catch the entity behind all of these things.

Some really great references to old TV and movies, classic Heather wit and snarkiness. Then mix in some very interesting plot twists, and sizzling relationships just so you can’t put it down.

I can’t wait for the next book to be revamped so I can see where this series leads.

Everyone has a celebrity crush. What would happen if you met yours?

Taking a chance and making a change after his divorce, Trapper Del rio signs up for personal training services to get in better shape for his embedded reporting gig with the Army. TFA Fitness Center is known for their discretion, having trained the famous and infamous alike over the years. When he meets the adorable curvy woman working at the Smoothie Bar, who blushes every time their eyes meet, Trapper wants to see where the explosive chemistry may lead.

After making a fool of herself the moment Trapper came up to her bar, Jessica Buckley didn’t believe the hot Latino reporter actually asked her out on a date. With a little prodding from her friends, Jessica risks dating Trapper, only to find him even more interesting off-camera. Jessica carefully navigates the intense feelings building between them, unsure she’s ready to give Trapper her heart, aware he’s going overseas in a few short months.

Winter Blog Review

As always when I pick up a book by a new author I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised with this addition to my library.

Trapper Del rio is a very popular television newscaster about to give his career a twist. Having signed up to embed in a deployment, reporting on conditions overseas he is about to do some extensive training to get in shape.

Jessica runs the juice/smoothie bar at TFA Training Center. This is not your typical gym, the trainers here cater to the elite helping each client meet a specific goal in a set amount of time. There are rules about client/employee relationships, Jessica now has a problem as the one celebrity on the planet she has a crush on begins his training.

This is a favorite scene.

Jessica was working on her first batch of the samples for the day when Rava Chowdhry, the hottest trainer in TFA, smarts, talents, and even looks wise, walked out of the employee lounge. With a towel around her neck, Rava approached the bar, glancing over the counter at the contents of the fruit display.

“That looks interesting,” Rava said as she plucked a piece of mango from the pile. “Pinterest?”

“You know I can’t stop going there, I’m honestly addicted now.” Jessica shook her head, hit the power button on the blender, and motioned to the guy still walking on the treadmill. “Newbie. He’s been there for half an hour.”

“I’ve got time. He has a three-hour session, three days a week for the next three months. That’s a lot of threes. I should play the lotto.” Rava smirked and shrugged, swatting her long thick braid off her shoulder. “Isn’t he that news guy you gushed over last year during the hostage crisis?”

Jessica’s heart pounded. She glanced over to the treadmill and shook her head. “No…it can’t be.”

Rava laughed softly with a twinkle in her light brown eyes, pushed off the counter, and approached him. “Trapper, right?”

The treadmill came to a slow stop. The man picked up a towel and wiped his brow. When Trapper Del rio turned around and smiled at Rava, the whole world started spinning. Jessica’s inner fangirl burst to the surface. Aside from his sparkling smile, soft brown complexion, and bright green eyes, the man exuded confidence, warmth, and had everything someone who delivered bad news needed: a trustworthy face. Her cheeks caught fire as her eyes widened and jaw dropped. Trapper Del rio in her gym. She just died, right? There was no way…

“Jess have you met our new client?” Rava called coyly from the treadmills.

Thinking she might actually piss her pants, Jessica lifted her hand, kept her eyes locked on Rava, said hi, and ran back into the kitchen.

If Jessica thought she was going to get fired for being late, she’d been dead wrong.

“Shit, shit, shit, Trapper fucking Del rio.”

He was gonna get her fired and she’d have to list the reason on her next application: Fired for fangirling over a client. Acting like a fan or messing around with clients was the biggest no-no. Matt hated that shit. Jessica never had a problem before, she didn’t care about actors or singers, or artists, her rock stars were entrepreneurs, world leaders, activist speakers, and reporters…

“Oh my god,” Jessica gasped, giggling and covering her face as her pulse rocketed. “I’m so going to get fired.”
Jenn Nixom. That News Guy (Kindle Locations 148-174). Kindle Edition.

Now Jessica doesn’t get fired and the comedy of errors as these two begin dating is fun and sexy. The challenges of dating a well known person combined with Jessica’s common sense lead to an intense beginning of a relationship.

I laughed and cried and held my breath as this tale unfolds.

I also fell in love with a bunch of characters here, I hope this continues into a series.

Touch.
The simplest form of communication.
For some, the most complex.

Undercover cop, Lucia has more secrets than a rat’s nest. She works the beat, works it well, until she infiltrates a gang where she finally finds her place. Jungle justice suits her down to a tee, but the day comes when she has to return to her real life, and brothers in arms suddenly become enemies, as she flounders to find her place in the world once more.

Martinez, a gang boss, one of the most powerful men in the city, has had his eyes on Lucia from the start. His instincts told him she was the rat in his midst, but other, baser, parts of him swayed his judgment. When his brother is sent down thanks to Lucia’s testimony, he can think only of revenge.

When a woman who can’t stand to be touched has to fight for her life in the bed of a man who can kill her in the blink of an eye, everything, even reality, unravels.

On the run, her past as a cop and footsoldier chasing at her heels, Lucia’s safety lies in the hands of the one man who can and will hurt her the most.

Through his raw touch, she has to find a haven where all around her, there is nothing but hell. Can she allow him into the ashes of her life, if it means her survival is at risk?

Find out in The Raw Touch.

Reader Advisory: this full-length novel contains scenes of dubious consent, as well as information that readers might find upsetting.

Winter Blog Review

There is sometimes a very thin line between good and evil. For Lucia that line becomes almost non-existent. From a young age she has had a skewed vision as to how things should be. It’s her grandfather that keeps her focused.

Lucia has spent a long time deep undercover to take down most of a Los Lobos. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough to take down the big boss, Martinez but she did get his brother Matteo and most of his upper echelon.

Martinez now wants his pound of flesh, from her, in the form of her being his.

The attraction had always been there, and now he is making demands Lucia isn’t sure she can fulfill. At least not under his terms.

This is a favorite scene before that first night together.

She tugged her chin from his grip. “Leave me alone.”

He grunted, “I guess the big question is, why spare me? Because admit to it or not, you did.”

At his words, she looked at him. For the first time since he’d dumped her in his office, she glanced directly at him, fell into his stare like a rabbit gawked at the hunter who had the creature in his crosshairs.

With their gazes caught in a trap of their own making, the frisson that arced between them descended like a lightning bolt. It struck her belly with a ferocity that made her wince.

He felt it too. His eyes widened the gold flecks surrounding his pupils changed, shifted as the small black dot dilated into a gluttonous orb. As the energy seared him, he backed off, crossing the room to put distance between them.

That distance hurt. It made the tenuous connection between them quiver weakly. she pressed her back into the wall, needing the support. She’d hate herself later for the weakness, but for now, she could only admit that energy between them was why she’d spared him. Why she had faith in him despite all the wrongdoing he’d committed in the name of earning a crust to feed his family.

He turned his back on her to face the windows. the city lights cast the side of his jaw into shadow. His tone was gritty, rough. “You know where my bedroom is. Go there and wait for me, Eva.”

Winter Blog Blurb

Georgios has a past.

In fact, he has more than a past. It’s a doozy of a heritage. With a murderer in the family and a mate stirring in the other realm, the last thing Ios needs is to continue a lineage that has messed with the fertility of all dragonkind.

But…
There’s always a but, right?

Lara is… Well, to be frank, she’s his. Still, to save her from him, he’ll fight the mate bond. Do what he must to keep her safe because, when it boils down to it, she’s the only thing that matters.

Of course, there has to be a spanner in the works. Namely, it’s Lara. A Vampire with bigger balls than most guys, and his citrus fruit… Okay, okay, leman.

Destined to be together, this cellphone-loathing Dragon has no choice but to embrace a world where women like having their boobs squished into torture devices called bras, bowls aren’t just regular-sized but Super, and roses are a declaration of true love.

If they can make it past the problems with his heritage, they’re on course for a happily-ever-after, but when a Dragon has courted mischief for centuries, trouble was always going to come knocking on his door.

Can they make it past the mistakes they’ve both made to finally be together? Or will his history and hers be the wrecking ball to hopes and dreams neither had dared have until they were in one another’s arms?

Book two in The Sanguenna Chronicles is a sexy stand-alone novel, coming in at just under 60k words. Prepare yourself for giggles and sighs–Ios is a hottie!!

Winter Blog Review

Ever since I finished Christmas: Dragon Style, I have been waiting for this book. Now I finally get to find out what happened to cause the trouble making Georgios to burst into court the way he did.

If you haven’t read the first book, go back and read it. It will definitely enhance your enjoyment of this one.

Now this one starts just a bit before the end of the first book, with our heroine Lara in quite the bind. Accused of sharing blood with a shifter which is forbidden. She manages to get out of the hearing with her life only to find Georgios at her coffee bar.

He’s been a common sight there as he sits and waits for Lara to join him. She’s been having the mate dreams, yet he has made no move to take her to the other realm and claim her as his.

It was hard to find a favorite passage I could share here as I don’t want to give away plot points. I chose this one because it meant so much to Georgios.

“I need you, Ios,” she whispered.

His eyes flared wide at the nickname, something only his mother had called him. It wasn’t an appropriate time to think of her, but a flood of warmth flowed into his being. Love, acceptance, caring.

The mate bond.

Lady Mother.

He shuddered in response. His beast was no longer alone. Would never be alone ever again.
Akeroyd, Serena. Valentine’s: Dragon Style (The Sanguenna Chronicles Book 2) (Kindle Locations 1570-1576). Kindle Edition.

Plenty of twists and turns as their mating does things in a very different way than that of Remy and Mia’s. Although it does have more than a little heat in that department.

Now when you figure in that Remy and Ios have very little experience in this modern world, there are plenty of laughs and misunderstandings. I mean who doesn’t want a hundred red roses for Valentine’s day.

Now I have to wait patiently for Independence Day: Dragon Style coming July 4th!

It’s all about the ride, until the right woman
makes them fall.

Chasing his dream of becoming a country music star, cowboy Jase Smith takes a job with a singing telegram company to make ends meet. He’s hired to deliver a breakup tune to a woman on Valentine’s Day, and meets music exec Leigh Anderson. Could she be the one he’s meant to make sweet music with?

Winter Blog Review

Valentine’s Day is getting worse by the minute for Leigh and her father/boss doesn’t even know that she hasn’t signed Wade. Finally home and trying to relax she is somewhat startled by the doorbell.

She comes face to face with the delivery of a singing telegram. A kiss off from Wade. The ex from hell and the reason she’s in the mood she’s already in.

This is a favorite scene after Jase delivers the message.

Jase Sutter appeared to be genuinely upset over having to deliver Wade’s message to her, and he was nice, friendly. After Wade, she needed some of that. That was one of the only reasons she’d invited him to give her his demo. During his slaughter of Shot Through The Heart, his voice had been a little too raspy and raw. It squeaked in the upper range, and graveled up in the lower register. Leigh didn’t know if that was his normal tone, or if it was a product of nerves or maybe the fact it was butt cold outside and he was freezing his off in his underwear on her porch. The mastered cut he was about to give her should answer that question.

Leigh walked to her stereo cabinet and opened the glass doors to eject the latest bad CD she’d listened to. She tossed it in the box then turned when she heard cowboy boot heels clicking on her hardwood floors. She was almost disappointed to see Jase had put on jeans and a t-shirt while he was outside. The tight, black t-shirt t-shirt accentuated the curve of his biceps and the jeans cupped him in all the right places, but the half-monty he’d given her on the porch had definitely been better. It was no wonder the messenger service hired him. They probably made a fortune from requests for this guy. Hell, women probably sent themselves singing telegrams just to see him again.

Looking indecisive, he tapped the CD case on his hand, before he handed it to her. “This is a song I wrote and recorded two years ago. I’ve had a few people interested in buying the rights to the song, but I want to sing it.”

Leigh’s heart did a little stutter-step in her chest. Things were definitely looking up with Mr. Sutter. “You write too?” she asked.

“Yeah, I do, but this is the only one I’ve recorded. It’s special to me,” he said, with a softness in his brown eyes that intrigued her. It made her damned curious to hear the song and see if she could figure out what caused it.

Leigh reached out and took the CD and opened the case. “If it’s good, you should have sold it. If you write, there’s more where that song came from,” she advised.

Getting emotionally attached to a song was a usually death sentence for it in the studio. The artist wouldn’t allow the changes that needed to be made to make it commercially successful.

“Nah, it’s a package deal. I don’t want anyone else singing it,” he said, sticking out his hand to her. “I’ve got to go, but my number is on the CD cover, so you can give me a call if you’re interested.”

“You don’t want to stick around while I listen to it?” Leigh asked with surprise. That was really strange, this man was really strange. Most aspiring artists would be falling all over themselves to see what her reaction was. But then Jase Sutter probably had no idea who she was. There were a ton of small obscure record labels in Dallas, and he probably thought she worked for one of those.

“Nah, I’ve got to go stay with my momma while my dad goes to work,” he replied, and his mouth ticked up into a half smile. “But thanks for listening to it.”

“My pleasure,” she replied, hoping that would be the case. There was something about this man that called to her, a freshness in his attitude, an honesty in his eyes that she didn’t run across often in the business.

“Thank you for the musical brush off and the roses,” she said with a wink, and Leigh could swear he blushed. “Since you write, I may have you do one to deliver to Wade Lawson soon.”

Jase’s smile faded, and his eyebrows slammed down over his eyes. “I’d be happy to do that, but if I found the guy I’d probably want to teach him some manners the old-fashioned way,” he said, with his hands fisted at his sides, a muscle working in his jaw.

Jase Sutter certainly had them to teach, and Wade could definitely stand to learn them. But Leigh sure hoped the fierce look on his face didn’t mean he had anger issues like Wade did. All she needed was another fighter on her hands. Or a drinker. “You don’t drink, do you Jase?” she asked. Please say no.

“A beer now and again, but not when I’m working,” he replied, but his eyes were on the clock above her mantle. “I really do have to go,” he said turning toward the door, but he pivoted back to stick his hand out to her. “Thanks again, and I’m sorry about the telegram and roses.”

“No need to apologize, you were just the messenger,” she said, taking his hand. Their palms met and electricity zipped up her arm, it felt like it hit her square in the heart when he gave her a blinding smile. She jerked her hand back to rub it on her shorts, and Jase turned toward the front door. Leigh was transfixed by her favorite part of the male anatomy, his being especially nice, until he quietly shut the door behind him.
Becky McGraw. Cupid’s Cowboy: Cowboy Way Book 4 (Kindle Locations 312-342). Becky McGraw.

Now the attraction is instantaneous, but there is also some things that were totally misunderstood.

Jase and Leigh have a long way to go both professionally and personally. There are lots of sweet moments and then there are the things dealing with the music industry that just complicate the hell out of everything.

A wonderful Valentine’s read!

Winter Blog Blurb

Grizzly shifter Joselyn Arthur has been living a lie. She’s been lying to her parents, her siblings, and even herself. The decision to move back to her hometown in the mountains of Alberta, Canada, after university and take a job in the family brewery two years ago was the dumbest choice she’d ever made.

Alton Tarben has also been working his butt off for the past two years in his family’s brewery on the other side of town. He too is questioning why on earth he thought this would be a good idea. He’s lonely and bored, and his bed needs warming.

When the two breweries end up in a battle over new product launches, Joselyn and Alton decide they’ve had enough. Enough hiding. Enough sneaking around. Enough separation.

The problem is that life is not that simple. Silvertip isn’t progressive enough to tolerate the binding of two shifters from rival bear packs. Joselyn and Alton must decide if they’re finally willing to put their happiness first and risk losing their families and their community.

Winter Blog Review

Nothing worth having is ever easy, but in this case, it’s almost excruciating.

Alton and Joselyn are in love, they know they are mates but haven’t sealed the deal because their families are rivals in the brewing business.

Alton stayed in college away from the prying eyes that could keep them apart just to be close to her. Now that they’re home working for their respective families things just got very complicated.

On her side there are doubts about the need for a marketing division and also the snide remarks about nepotism since her father is CEO and Alpha.

Alton’s family has welcomed him back and if anything is now overworking him, he doesn’t have the negativity around him though.

These two have to do something and soon. The mating pull is becoming painful for them both.

This is a favorite scene at Austin and Nuria’s home.

Even though Alton couldn’t see his brother’s face, he still knew he rolled his eyes as he opened the door wider. “Come in.”

Nuria stood. “Hey,” she said.

Joselyn looked like she might faint. He couldn’t blame her. She’d been ambushed, and so far she didn’t even know it, so she was trying to pretend she didn’t know Alton as anyone more than a passing relative of Austin’s.

Alton needed to fix the imbalance of knowledge first and foremost. “Baby, we’ve been tricked.” He swallowed to clear his throat before continuing. “I think Nuria believed an intervention was needed to get us together.”

Joselyn’s face turned a darker shade of red than what Alton felt his own skin must look like. She stood two feet inside the house without moving while Austin closed the door.

Alton found his feet and raced across the room to pull her into his arms.

She slumped against him. He tugged her coat off her arms and dropped it on the floor at their feet before cupping her face and holding her a few inches back.

She blinked huge, questioning eyes.

“They know.”

“How…?” She cleared her throat. “How did they find out?”

“Nuria must have some sort of mate radar or something,” he teased, trying to lighten the mood in the room. “She saw us looking at each other two weeks ago at my parents’ house. She was the one who confronted me earlier today when I had to hang up on you.”

Joselyn still looked shocked. She didn’t speak. Finally, her hands wrapped around his middle and squeezed as a tear slid down her face. “I’m sorry.”

Nuria interrupted the moment. “Oh, God. Please don’t apologize. You misunderstand. I was only trying to help. Nothing leaves this room.”

Austin spoke next. “She’s right. You two obviously need a safe place to meet, and you need to figure out a way to move forward. This has to stop. It’s unnatural. It hurts me just hearing about it. Nuria and I will go out for a while, shift and go for a hike, and give you a chance to talk…or, uh, whatever.”

Without taking his gaze off Joselyn, Alton sensed his brother and Nuria shuffling around the room until the sliding door off the kitchen opened and closed quickly. Austin reached out to Alton. “Guest room. First door on the right.”

Alton wanted to smile at the implication, but the moment was too serious for that yet.

“Are you mad?” Joselyn finally asked, tentatively.

He flinched. “God no. Baby, no.” He held her head tighter and kissed her lips, forcing himself not to devour her just yet. They needed to talk first. Fuck after. “First of all, this isn’t your fault. Secondly, I trust my brother and his mate to keep this under wraps until we’re ready to tell everyone. And thirdly, he’s right. We can’t live like this.”

“Okay, that last part isn’t news.” She lowered her hands down his back and slid them under his shirt. When her palms flattened on his skin, he sucked in a breath. Even though her hands were cold, her touch was welcoming. It never failed to calm him.
Jameson, Becca . Grizzly Secret (Arcadian Bears Book 3) (Kindle Locations 1390-1415). Hartwood Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Now while this makes things a tad easier for Joselyn and Alton, they really do have many more obstacles to overcome.

Between the things with Austin and Nuria and the brewery rivalry and well just everything, I laughed and cried and just kept turning the pages.

I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
