This sentiment seemed to scream from his wolf. I found this a bit amusing having seen many find their mates in this series. I don’t think any have had quite that reaction from their wolf, close but not quite.
Hannah doesn’t quite know what her feelings are other than she is nervous around this strange man. When circumstances have Caleb witnessing her using her unique power to help Bridie, the outcome is hotter than hell. This also causes a reaction of pain that has Caleb taking her pain and forcing him to change. OOPS! Shortly thereafter is my favorite scene when her daughter Jessie bursts into the kitchen.
“Momma, Momma! I missed you, what’s going on…oh! Look at the doggy; he’s beautiful. Can we keep him, Momma, can we?” Jessie whipped past Will and came to a sudden halt in front of the wolf. She was inches from his jaws, his head at the same height as hers although he sprawled across Hannah’s legs.
“Get back, Jessie!” Will made a grab for her, but her little arms circled the huge neck as she buried her face into his thick fur.
“I knew you would come,” she whispered. “I told Grampa my momma needed someone to protect her, and here you are.”
Jessie burrowed deeper against the wolf, who confounded Hannah by turning his head to rub against the little girl’s shoulder, tucking her close against his thick body.
Everything about the wolf’s body language was protective and although her maternal instincts screamed at her to pull her daughter away from the huge beast, enough rationality remained for her to sit still and observe the tender moment.
She raised her eyes to Will and quirked an eyebrow at him and he mouthed, “Grampa?” at her. She pointed back at him, assuming it meant him, but he shook his head in denial. Another mystery for them to unravel in a night of unsurpassed strangeness because there was no other man in Jessie’s life she could imagine her calling Grampa.
The weight on her legs grew uncomfortable and she tried to shift her legs a little. The wolf moved his head, swiping his big pink tongue up the side of the little girl’s face, making her giggle and squirm away from him. Raised up on his big broad paws, his shoulder stood above the child’s head once he gained his full height.

This was only the beginning of a very interesting, sizzling hot relationship. There is also a bonding of family both wolf and human that hasn’t been seen with regard to the Los Lobos pack before. I loved the way things play out and the lessons that they all learn.

This new series starts out really strong. Hitting upon two issues very high on the list for women from the first page. Cancer and assault. Both require strength and courage to deal with during treatment and after. A gift of a glass Panda becomes a key.
Invited to play at a dinner party, Avary Pine has accepted in an attempt to re-launch her performing career. If she can do this she can once again play in public.
Victor Knight is not a public man, not anymore. He does the minimum to get by and prefers to stay behind the scenes, caring for his sister. He has a friend with benefits to see to his other needs and otherwise concentrates on his business.
When he greets Avery that first evening, the day before her performance he finds she is nothing like he expected. There are plenty of innuendos in this book but this one is almost an accident and a favorite passage.
“So,” she was in a hurry to get the conversation back on track. “I received the letter, and then I spoke to your secretary. You’re wishing me to play privately?”
“For a small dinner party tomorrow night. A small gathering.”
“Gathering?” Her palms turned clammy. Relax, Avery.
“Is that a problem?” He lifted one brow.
“No, of course not.” She gave her head a dramatic shake. “I’ll play only at dinner?”
“Unless the need arises before then.”
She slid her hands down her thighs. “Okay. I’m here for you, so I can play as often as you wish.” What? My words totally came off as sexual.
He blinked and his jaw turned solid again. “Let’s get one thing straight, you’re not here for me,” he said point blank and fumbled with a pen, sticking it back into a metal holder.
“I’m not?”
“No, Miss Pine.”
“But-but you were the one who wrote to me asking for my services.” The room suddenly grew warmer.
He cocked his head to the side, regarding her with his brooding gaze. “I arranged for you to come here, but I’m afraid that’s where my interest ends.”
Although his voice was soft, the meaning of his words were harsh. It was as if the water faucet had been turned to cold. “I’m sorry, but I’m confused.”
“Don’t be. It’s rather simple.”
In spite of a near run-in with a friend with benefits this romance blossoms, whether Victor wants it to or not. Lots of the very hot sex Rhonda is known for, but also tears and pain. A bit of an emotional rollercoaster. A definite page turner.

I don’t know what I was expecting when I pick up this book to try a new author, but this went above and beyond. This is a story of the deepest betrayal a person can experience, that of a father. I kind of understand why Hailey endeavored to help him but I know for a fact I wouldn’t have. She exhibited a strength of a thousand women in dealing with the hell thrust upon her.
As a result of her father’s debt Hailey takes on a second job as a receptionist at a garage. When her car breaks down, Mark (the owner) fixes it ignoring all her protests. Now she has to figure out how to thank him. She decides to let her feisty side out to play and corners him in the break room. This is one of my favorite scenes.
Walking silently on my almost tiptoes, I leave the lobby and make quick work of the short trip to the break room and peek inside. Perfect. His back is to the door and he is very alone. I kick the door wedge and step toward him. His attention moves from the counter in front of him to the door when the woosh and click of the door closing fills the room.
“Hailey?” his confusion to why I’m here only makes this better.
“I wanted to thank you for fixing my baby.”
“You’re welcome. Now, go back to your office.”
Oh no, his bossy attitude isn’t going to stop me. Grabbing his shirt in both hands, I pull him down at the same time I lift up on my tiptoes. Our mouths slam together and I moan at my first taste of him. Sweet like chocolate but with a spicy kick like cayenne pepper. So fuckin’ good. So lost in the taste of his mouth it takes me a few seconds to realize he’s not kissing me back. His hands grip my upper arms, I now realize not by passion but to keep me balanced. I pull away from his mouth, let go of his shirt, and step back.
“Sorry, I just wanted to thank you,” I apologize. The anger in his eyes feels like a knife to my heart. He’s so confusing, I thought he wanted this.
“Why do you keep putting yourself into these positions? For fuck’s sake.” He gives me a little shake but still not letting my arms go. “Anyone could have walked in.”
“What? So you want me when no one is looking?” I stutter out. Figured. God I was so stupid! What was I thinking? A man that looked like him didn’t openly pursue a bigger girl like me. Set myself up for that one. Another shake from him has me bring my eyes back up his.
“Wherever you just went in your head get away from it. It wasn’t a good place. Now, I already told you I’m on the edge as it is, and you come in here and press that sweet body all up on me and give me the mouth I’ve been dyin’ for and expect what exactly? Everyone who works here thinking your free game? I’m trying to keep you respectable here, bunny, but you’re killin’ me.”

Mark on the other hand wants Hailey, but he is too closed off from his feelings to accept her any other way but his own. He becomes her salvation but only on his terms. Terms that make her feel more of a sex object than his lover.
This is a dark story, with enough light and hope to have you keeping the faith that they will come together the right way. The sex is smoldering and the story is intense. I laughed, cried and bit my nails.

The initial meet up in the bar was a bit uncomfortable, both remembering the aftermath of their last meeting. Dinner is apologies filled with laughter and sexual innuendos. This is a favorite scene during dinner.Jenn fiddled with her wine glass, debating if she dared tell him what she was thinking. Screw it. That was the beauty of his living in another state. He’d be gone almost as quickly as she could embarrass herself. “I loved the way you kissed. If I’m being honest, you still hold the top spot in that department.”

He took a couple of bites of soup and still had to clear his throat before speaking. “I think you’re still the best kisser for me, too.” making a statement.”She laughed again and damned if hearing that sound wasn’t becoming a need, too. He’d always enjoyed being with her, and that hadn’t changed. It wasn’t long before they both relaxed and got caught up on their daily lives with the easy flow of being old friends.

Hmm. I have no idea why people want to know what makes me… me, but here it goes: My favorite hobby is reading, and I am a complete romance snob.
If a story doesn’t have romance, it isn’t worth it. If there’s hot sex, all the better.
Let’s face it, fantasy is usually a lot more fun than reality. Not always, but usually. As a writer, one can be anything, do anything, say anything that comes to mind. There are a thousand and one ways to make things happen, each one more exciting than the last.
Since I have a very active imagination, this is the best job in the world.

In Stolen, we meet the canines.
I love the Alpha Holden, he is trying so hard to do the right thing for his pack, one of those things has been not to mate. He is careful about who he beds, since none of the females in his pack are his mate.
When he comes across what he at first thinks is a body dump, his wolf cries mate. Ariel has been left for dead by the SAU, and Holden is given no choice by his wolf. There is only one way he can save her, and that way will but everyone at risk. Change her into a wolf.
One of my favorite passages is when Ariel wakes up already healing and Holden is trying to explain what happened:
“I’ll explain everything once you’re clean and have food in you.” He nudged her chin with his knuckle and she met his gaze. “You’re my mate, Ariel. You don’t have to believe that right now, but you’ll feel the connection.” He frowned. “At least I hope you will. We’ll deal with what that means at another time, but first, let’s get you cleaned up.”
She blinked. “You changed me. Is that what you’re saying? Because if that’s true, you didn’t give me a choice.” She ran a hand over her chest. “I… I don’t know how I feel about that.”
He winced but didn’t defend himself. “Shower, Ariel. Now.”
“Don’t order me around.”
“I’m the Alpha, siren. You’ll have to get used to listening to my orders.”
“Siren?” she asked, her head spinning.
“It was either that or mermaid.” He shrugged then picked her up, holding her close to his chest. She let out a yelp and wrapped her arms around his neck so she wouldn’t fall.
“I can walk,” she snapped.
“Can you?” he asked in that annoyingly arrogant tone.
Keeping Arial safe is top on the list of the Holden’s priorities. Yet as the Alpha’s mate she must also find her place in the pack. This will not be easy as so many things are thrown at both her and the pack simultaneously.
Jealousy, new love, sizzling sex and the SAU causing more than enough grief for everyone.

Soren Slater is a Beta wolf who understands that duty to his Pack comes before his own needs. At a young age he takes a position as a liaison between his Pack and the other species of shifters. He never expected his enticing flirtations with Cora Wilder, a Tiger Princess, would encourage her cat to consider him a potential mate. He’s forced to walk away, choosing a partner among the wolves to try and strengthen his Pack.
Cora has no intention of forgiving or forgetting Soren’s rejection. Not even when the Packs are forced to live together and she discovers Soren’s former mate has died. But then, she’s kidnapped by the SAU and she has no choice but to work with Soren to escape. Together they must put the past behind them if they’re to survive the human’s evil plot.
In forgiven we meet the felines as they are forced to move in with the canines. Not an ideal situation for either of them. However, there is one feline and one canine whose interest in each other is more than just surviving together.
Soren had left Cora, the feline Princess, to do what was right for his pack and mated another wolf. A fact he regretted, and even two years after Leah’s death he still feels guilty.
In spite of Cora wanting them to stay away from each other Soren and his wolf have decided not to let that happen, especially with a male cat sniffing around her. Having come up with an idea for games that would challenge and help tone down aggression he enlists Cora’s help.
As the games progress, even Cora has to admit the idea was brilliant. This is a scene as Soren leads her to his place after gifting her with her favorite chocolates.
She nearly stumbled as she felt the damp urgency between her legs. Oh, lord, it’d been so long. Too long.
“You shouldn’t waste your money on me,” she forced herself to mutter.
His fingers moved up her back, threading in her hair that she’d left down this morning. “I would give my last penny to see you smile,” he assured her.
She licked her lips that suddenly felt dry. “Soren.”
They reached his front porch, and he halted directly in front of his door, gazing down at her with a tenderness that nearly broke her heart. “I would give my soul to earn your forgiveness, princess.”
She wavered. It would be so easy to submit. To give in to the aching need of her cat. But there was still a part of her that couldn’t let go. Perhaps it was a need to punish Soren. Or to protect her vulnerable heart. Or perhaps it is simply a very female desire to continue with this delicious game, she wryly conceded. There was, after all, a heady power in having this gorgeous male chase after her.
Whatever the reason, she found herself giving a slow shake of her head. “I’m not ready.”
“I know. I’m sorry.” His hand lifted to cup her cheek, his thumb trailing along the line of her jaw. “I can be a pushy bastard. Honestly, I’m happy we can at least be friends.” His light touch sent sparks of pleasure shooting through her body.
Swaying forward, she placed her hands on his chest, relishing the feel of his sharp shudder. “Friends,” she said, the word sounding oddly empty.
His thumb found the pulse that was hammering just below the line of her jaw. “We are friends, aren’t we?” he asked.
“I thought…” She deliberately allowed her words to trail away.
“Cora?”
“Maybe we could be friends with benefits,” she suggested.
Never stupid, Soren was swift to follow her implication. His muscles tensed, his heart pounding beneath her palm. “Would those benefits include having you in my arms?” he demanded, his eyes fully wolf as he gazed down at her flushed face.
“If you want-” Her words broke off in a startled shriek as he abruptly grabbed her by the waist and tossed her over his shoulder. “What are you doing?”
Wrapping his arms around her legs, he shoved open the door and headed into his cabin. “Not giving you the chance to change your mind.”

I’m not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother’s knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.
Years later (no, I’m not admitting how many) I’m still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!
I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.

She graciously answered some questions for me about her writing.
What attracted you to writing about SEALs?
My last series was about a Special Forces team that retired from the Army and began a security firm. It may seem like an overdone theme, but there are so many readers that love this genre. My husband had been in Army Intelligence and I wanted to create a team of brothers that continued their service after retiring.
What’s a typical day of writing for you? Are you a planner or do you wing it?
I am a complete planner! I have to have everything plotted out. I start out with an idea, develop it, begin making notes about it. Create an outline, storyboards and then begin writing. The story may go in different directions after I begin writing and the characters talk to me, but I have to have a plan to begin.
How do you decide where your book will take place?
All of my books take place in Virginia (I’m a 30 year resident of VA and love it!) I create fictional cities, but many people familiar with Virginia will recognize the locations.
What is your favorite part of writing? What is your least favorite part?
Favorite part is the creative juices that bring fictional characters to life. Readers tell me that my characters appear to be people they would like to know. I do a lot of editing to make the writing as good as it can be and that can seem vary tedious. I get so nervous when I first send it to beta readers until I hear back that they like it!
What genres do you enjoy reading? Do you have any favorite authors?
My favorite genre is the one I like to write in – Romantic Suspense. Although, I began reading historical romances way back in the 1970’s and they hold a special place in my heart.
My all time favorite author would be the amazing Kristen Ashley. She writes with abandon…not following anyone’s rules of writing. I find it fresh, exciting, and completely captivating.
Amy Harmon’s Making Faces was an amazing contemporary romance and moved me to tears, which is hard to do!
Do you think that social media is important for an author to be involved in?
Extremely important, especially for indie authors. I need to connect with readers and have gained many new readers just by interacting with them on social media. I have readers who have read my books and write to tell me how they meant something to them, or a shared experience. I love this!
If you could be a character in a book, which one would it be, and what part would you play? (Romantic lead, sidekick, etc)
When I was a child and read (voraciously), I always put myself into the book during my playtime (or even daydreams). My Barbies became Nancy Drew (and her friends, George and Bess).
As an adult, I would love to be the romantic lead (never the sidekick). If I were to choose one of my books, it would have to be the first one I wrote, Emma’s Home. I could easily see myself as Emma, search for a place to put down roots…and meeting Jake would be the bonus!!

They give him interesting alternatives to the boring job he is doing now. Former team members from all different branches working together as a cohesive unit to solve problems on and off the grid.
A con-artist using the premise of being able to contact their late husbands for investment advice, targets Amelia and some of her elderly friends. After consulting with Bart, Jude decides to do a bit of investigating of this Nastelli guy and see what the angle is. Better to bring him down before he ruins these lovely ladies. Sabrina, however, almost beats him to it. He spots her just before she does something incredibly dumb. This is a favorite scene that takes place the morning after he catches her.
“I just thought since you want to consider doing investigations as a possible job, then maybe you should get Bart or his boss, Jack, involved in how we should proceed with this mess.”
“We? Babe, there is no we in this.”
“You know what Jack said. If Nastelli gets a hint you’re checking him out then he’ll leave town. I thought you all wanted to stop him from doing this to other vulnerable women.”
“I know, but maybe I can convince him that I want to use his services.” Shaking her head, she said, “Look, Jude. I’ve been thinking about this. Nonnie has already talked to Mr. Nastelli about me and my trust. Maybe I could meet with him, convince him that I’m interested and see what that gets us.”
“Hell, no!” he shouted, sitting up in the bed. “I don’t want you near this guy!”
Arguing for several more minutes, Sabrina flopped back down on the bed in frustration. “Fine. Then talk to Jack. See what he thinks.”
Reluctantly agreeing, he called Bart later that morning, after she went to work, and within a few minutes had Jack on the line. Much to his chagrin, Jack agreed with Sabrina.
“Look, Jude. Do your research first when planning a mission. No con artist that is as good as this guy is, will ever talk to you. He’s smart and his self-preservation is at an all-time high. Tell you what, we’ll do a phone conference with you and my group when you get a little more information to see what the next course of action should be.”
Jude agreed, then called Sabrina back. “I’m going to work with Jack’s group on this and if, and only if, they think we have no other choice, then you can help.”
After getting her agreement to not act independently, he disconnected the call and leaned back on the sofa, running his hands through his hair once more. Jesus, Bart makes this sound so easy. Hell, so do Zane and Rick. If this is going to be my new career and keep Sabrina in my life… I’ve got to figure out how to make this work.

Born and raised in a small town in New York close to the Pennsylvania line, we water skied in the summer months on the lake and snow skied all winter. One a cold January night while clomping through the lodge I literally ran smack into the man I’d eventually marry. His high school was ninety-six miles from mine but we made the long-distance relationship work.
While I was at Penn State, he went to the United States Naval Academy and chose the Marines upon graduation. I followed him throughout his military career living on Army, Air Force and Marine Corps bases, making sixteen moves and meeting some of the most wonderful people in the world.
Working in Public Relations all over the country and in Japan, I’ve written for international, regional and local corporations, non-profits and was a ghost writer. I won national awards for travel and tourism books and ghost written several self-help books but I hadn’t written fiction since college.
When we moved to East Tennessee for the second time, we built our house-and I mean we, my husband, our son and I-built this house from the studs in. As I hung insulation, painted, tiled and planted, I plugged into audio books and discovered I really enjoyed romantic suspense. In the evenings I read romance novels. By the time the house was ready for occupancy, I’d read over 300 books, mostly in the romance genre and suspense.
One night while my husband was working out of the country, I sat at the computer and started writing a book. I entered it in several writing contests and learned a lot from the critiques. I met romance writer Deborah Grace Staley who helped me tremendously. She told me my 125,000-word tome wasn’t one book but three and none were the first in what has become The Black Swan series.
I attended many conferences and craft workshops over the next year while pitching every chance I got. The Black Swan series garnered interest and notice enough to convince Emily Kim, owner of Prospect Agency, to become my agent. When I’d finished Explosive Combination, it had gained a life of its own in the Romantic Suspense genre. Emily and I separated it from the Black Swan series, which is in the Contemporary Romance category, and I sold Explosive Combination to Liquid Silver Books in November 2013. The first of the Black Swan Series should come out in 2016.
In December 2014, Christmas In Cancun was published by Liquid Silver, the first of a new series of Romantic Suspense books based in Cancun, Mexico. In April 2015 I self-published Conquered in Cancun followed by Captivated in Cancun in January 2016. I was honored to be invited to write in Cat Johnson’s Hot SEAL Kindle World and wrote Claimed by a SEAL – Cancun Crossover novella 2.5 released January 2016.
I have been married to the same man for over thirty-seven years. Our two children are grown but our son lives with us. Our daughter and her husband blessed us with a granddaughter a few years ago.
I still read over 100 books a year, mostly audio books, and write every day.

When people go through any type of trauma, physical or mental doesn’t matter, there is a healing that needs to happen. For Ben this process has stalled and he is hurting everyone around him, but especially Ryan. Ryan finally pushes and realizes that he has to leave, and the beautiful Shari is his salvation.
Everything comes to a head at Julie’s birthday party when Ben finally gives in, albeit in anger, forcing a kiss on Ryan, that was more than just a kiss. Averting the almost tragedy of Shari leaving, the three of them discuss their issues. Part of this was a description of Ryan and Shari’s night together. This was a favorite scene.
Shari sort of regretted her hastiness as her gaze ping-ponged between the two still-clothed men, though she supposed she’d bared her body while they bared their souls. Certainly a harder task.
“Besides, I kind of liked the vanilla topping Shari gave me last night.” Ryan winked at her.
“You already went for food in bed?” Ben grunted. “I know you’re a chef but—”
“He’s not talking about Cool Whip,” she interrupted before he could put more mouthwatering ideas in her mind. Too late, now she wanted to try that too. Later.
“Although now that I’m horny and thinking about that, it sounds kind of kinky, huh?” Ryan tapped his index finger on his chin. “Possibilities.”
Shari laughed at how alike their thought processes were.
“Tell me what you mean.” The directness of Ben’s request didn’t allow her to consider objecting, not that she would have anyway. Still, he was much better at this domineering thing than she had been.
So good that Ryan answered immediately, beating her to it. “She totally mind-fucked me. Subtly yet really effectively, by getting me to share a fantasy, while sort of acting it out.”
“Was that kind of thing enough of a power exchange to get you off?” Ben asked as he continued where he’d left off, deliberately walking his T-shirt up his torso. As distractions went, it was pretty phenomenal. Shari forgot to be nervous about Ryan’s response, too busy staring at the impressive display of well-muscled man Ben revealed bit by bit.
