Fall Tree Blog - sm - Synopsis

Note- this is part TWO of Alex and Jessica’s story. Part ONE, Alexandr’s Cherished Submissive, should be read first for the most enjoyment.

Having believed for five years that his wife and daughter are dead, Alexandr Novikov’s world changes forever when he discovers not only are they alive, but the vile person who tore his family apart was none other than his father, Jorg.Determined to make up for lost time, Alex sets about winning the hearts and trust of his wife and daughter, and healing the emotional damage done to Jessica by their forced separation. Easier said than done when jealousy rears its ugly head, and Jessica struggles to deal with all the women Alex was intimate with after her supposed death.

Jessica has prayed for a chance to reunite with Alex, to be the family they were meant to be, to reclaim and rebuild their relationship. Those prayers are finally answered, but she quickly realizes her husband still sees her as the naïve twenty-year-old girl she used to be, the one who was content to let him run the show. Jessica’s grown up during their difficult time apart, and she’s no longer content being a piece of arm candy for her powerful husband. If he’s going to bring her back into the deadly world of the Russian mafia, Alex needs to realize that she’s strong enough to be his partner in name and in truth. Only as equals will they find courage enough to face the days ahead.

Especially since Jorg isn’t done meddling with their lives…and his latest actions will have deadly consequences for generations to come.

Warning:

This book contains a rather kinky Bratva lord who likes to give his woman all the pleasure she can handle, with the help of his friends. It includes anal, F/F play, spanking, domestic discipline, and a M/F/F/M/F/M/F/M scene that’ll make you squirm.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This book was a gift in exchange for an honest review.

After being left hanging at the end of Alexandr’s Cherished Submissive, I absolutely couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book.

Alex and Jessica’s relationship has always been special but Jessica has done things on her own and in fear for a long time. To Alex she hasn’t changed except for aging and her hair color.

Jessica has always known he was alive and her husband so she hasn’t strayed from her wedding vows. On the other hand Alex thought she was dead, he was a widower, and had several affairs. None serious for him, but Jessica will have to come to terms with her jealousy over these women. She has also grown into a very strong woman, something Alex will have to deal with.

Alex is now a father to a four year old, and I truly loved the interactions between Tatiana and him. He will learn some truths about children really quick. *evil chuckle*

We meet up with all our favorites in this book, Ivan & Gia, Dimitri & Rya, Nico & Catrine, Krom, Maks and a surprise visit from Beach & Sarah!

Let me say now that this is the hottest of all the Submissive Wish books. There is a lot of kinky, smoldering hot scenes so make sure you have plenty to drink and maybe a fan and some ice to keep cool.

Lots of tears, lots of laughter, suspense and OMG scenes.

I can’t wait to see what Ann has in store for us in the next book in this series. I can see some possibilities but I know she will surprise us all.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - about the author

Ann Mayburn  Ann Mayburn

With over forty published books, Ann is Queen of the Castle to her husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she’s been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead-though she will deny to her children that it ever happened.

From a young Ann has had a love affair with books would read everything she could get her hands on. As Ann grew older, and her hormones kicked in, she discovered bodice ripping Fabio-esque romance novels. They were great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she’s never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her ‘sexy space’ and has accepted that her Muse has a severe case of ADD.

Ann loves to talk with her fans, as long as they realize she’s weird, and that sarcasm doesn’t translate well via text.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This book was a gift in exchange for an honest review.
Now seventeen, Rachel has taken fate into her own hands and has learned the art of explosives from her father. Now the younger Warriors are on a mission to attack first, instead of watching and waiting.
When Andon smells danger he decides to move the pack, so of course that means Jason will be leaving her again. One of my favorite scenes is Rachel’s conversation with Andon before they leave.

“First, I would like to say I know you believe I’m moving the pack as a means to punish you. That isn’t true.”

I shook my head. “I don’t require reassurances from you.”

He ignored my words. “I’m moving the pack because I sense danger, and it’s my duty as Alpha to keep us all safe. You’d be welcome to come with us.”

“See? I told you that.” Jason looked as if he’d been given the best gift on the planet.

“Thanks for the invitation, but as I’m sure you’re aware, I have no interest in being in your presence.”

“If you and Jason are to stay together, we must find a way to get along.”

“I see what you’re doing.” Part of me wanted to poke him in the chest with my index finger. The other part wanted to run away. So I stood still. “You’re being so kind, so easygoing, and I end up looking like the difficult one. You needn’t bother. Jason  already thinks the sun rises and sets on you, whereas he sees all my flaws. And points them out too.”

Jason thought me goodness and light, which was part of the problem, since he tended to be confused when I acted in a not-so-nice way. He took a step toward me, but I took a step away. I didn’t want him near me right then.

Andon snarled. “I am not your enemy.”

“Yes, you are.” Tears streamed down my face because I knew I had to say what was on my mind. It might tear Jason and me apart for good if I spoke my thoughts, but it was past time. “And you always will be. No matter how much other people wish it was different.

Silence swept around us on the cool breeze that threatened to become frigid as the sun set on our evening. No one spoke. If I had to guess, it was because I’d shocked Jason and because Andon was plotting his next move.

Jason leaves, again, this time with Rachel’s blessing. Then attacks take on a more brutal force. Andon had initiated things that can’t be taken back.

This book has the most profound plot twists I’ve ever read. It left me guessing as to the truth in anything from the previous books.

I can’t wait for the next one in this series, Redemption!

I’m thrilled to be here celebrating the release of my 21st book, HARD AS STEEL! After a midnight break-in at her apartment, close friends and Hard Ink Tattoo co-workers Ike Young and Jessica Jakes are forced into hiding—and forced to confront the feelings they’ve always denied for one another. I have always adored friends-to-lovers and forced proximity stories, and HARD AS STEEL delivers that and more, including a taste of both my award-winning and best-selling Hard Ink and upcoming Raven Riders series!

Fall Tree Blog - sm - excerpt

They stared at each for a long moment. Jess went from feeling amused to awkward to observed…and that made her hot. Especially as she was standing there in nothing but a towel. As if he could hear her thoughts, Ike’s gaze slowly ran down her neck to her chest. She wiped at something there and the wetness on the fingers told her it had been a droplet of water from her hair. Ike watched the movement of her hand openly, hungrily, and his desire made her bold, daring, hungry in return.

Without giving herself time to second guess the idea, she reached out and lightly dragged her wet fingers against his bottom lip.

And it was like she’d unleashed a beast.

Ike grabbed her wrist and hauled her to him. He was on her everywhere. His hands in her hair, on her back, grabbing her ass and lifting her up. His tongue licked the exact route that water droplet had taken, from chest to neck to ear. And then he was kissing her, fucking her mouth with his tongue, absolutely devouring her.

Jess held on like her life depended on it, and at some point she became aware of the breeze on her bare skin. She’d dropped the towel, which meant she was totally buck-ass naked in Ike’s big arms, and she couldn’t have cared less.

Ike licked her mouth, sucked her tongue, nipped at her lips. He turned and made for the stairs, and Jess thought she might die from sheer joy and anticipation. He tasted like strength and sin and sex, and she tightened her legs around his hips as he carried her to the loft, eager to see if all of him tasted so good—or even better.

When they reached the second floor, Ike growled low in his throat and his grip tightened on her on her ass, his fingers digging in. She moaned and—

Cool air from the ceiling fan washed over Jess as Ike dropped her onto the bed—and promptly turned around to leave. Jess was so stunned she couldn’t speak. Just as he hit the top of the steps, he said, “Don’t fucking tease me, Jessica. I’m trying to do right by you, but I’m still just a goddamned man.”

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

As this series works its way to a close, we are gifted with this awesome crossover novella. Jess and Ike are really perfect for each other.  She has loved him since the day they met, and every time we see them in the previous books the sparks are flying as are the snarky comments.

With things coming to a head with the rest of the Hard Ink gang, tension and security is high. Jess has to go into hiding with Ike as her protection and of all places he takes her to his on the property of the Raven MC.

This book had me laughing, crying and swearing. These two are quite the pair and when they hook up well there’s more than just sparks flying. Have plenty to drink handy to avoid dehydration cause this is sizzling hot.

I can’t wait for the first book in the Raven Riders Series!

After identifying her employer’s dangerous enemies, Jessica Jakes takes refuge at the compound of the Raven Riders Motorcycle Club. Fellow Hard Ink tattooist and Raven leader Ike Young promises to keep Jess safe for as long as it takes, which would be perfect if his close, personal, round-the-clock protection didn’t make it so hard to hide just how much she wants him—and always has.

Ike Young loved and lost a woman in trouble once before. The last thing he needs is alone time with the sexiest and feistiest woman he’s ever known, one he’s purposely kept at a distance for years. Now, Ike’s not sure he can keep his hands or his heart to himself—or that he even wants to anymore. And that means he has to do whatever it takes to hold on to Jess forever.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This series just gets better and better. Now with everyone living above ground in tents the tension is higher than ever. More Warriors die every day as the Vampires get closer and more numerous. Chad and Rachel are sent on a journey to get help from Liberty the habitat two hundred miles away. Unfortunately they don’t get very far, but they do make some startling discoveries about both the wolves and the vampires.
Lots of excitement, saving Jason and his sisters from vampires , meeting wolves up close and personal and finding more warriors and humans in a unique way.
But running into Issac Icahn again was quite informative. He wants Rachel dead, and she wants him dead.
My bets are on Rachel. While there is some romance, Rachel wants no part of the physical and is sticking to her guns on that. She is only 16 so there is no hurry.
A quick read but by no means short. This one grabs ahold and doesn’t let go till the very end.
I can’t wait for the next one in the series releasing September 29th.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

Connie and Natalie (Trey’s mate) are best friends. Now visiting the den regularly, Connie has the suspicion that Anthony (Trey’s oldest brother) may be her mate.

Anthony really doesn’t want to face the fact that he has a mate close by, but his bear is telling him Connie is the one.

When Connie confronts a hunter in Blackrock territory, Anthony realizes he may not be able to hide the truth from her much longer.

Misunderstanding leads to Connie walking away from him only to find him ready to grovel for her forgiveness. During this make-up meal she acknowledges the mate thing and is one of my favorite scenes, shows Connie’s snarkiness perfectly.

“Do you accept the mating?”

She held up a hand. “Not so fast, furball. Don’t put words in my mouth. I just said I know how this mating dance thing works. But I also know we don’t fully bond until I give my heart to you completely.”

He stared at her, one brow raised. “Furball?”

“Is that all you heard me say?”

A lot of giggling from me as these two figure out the mating thing. Some hold your breath moments and some very hot sex. Perfect afternoon getaway read.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This book was a gift from the author during a FB release party.

I was looking for something a little different when I chose this short story from the list Delilah provided. I was not disappointed, this was definitely different.

Our leading lady Despy, is an author staying at a house overlooking the sea. She does however have an aversion to salt water. I don’t think I could look into a shallow pool of saltwater and not touch the creatures within. The sudden appearance of a man out of nowhere kinda freaked me out.

Thane our mysterious stranger, seems to prickle a memory for Despy but she is not able to pull it forward. One of my favorite scenes is when they introduce themselves.

“I’m Thane,” he rumbled. “Give me your name.”

I wrinkled my nose and tried to ease the tension a bit with a smile. “Despy.”

“That’s unusual.”

“It’s short for Despoine.” I wrinkled my nose. “Try getting anyone to spell it, much less pronounce it.”

“After the daughter of Demeter and Poseidon.”

Surprised he made the connection, I blinked. “You know your Greek mythology.”

From here the story gets really interesting. A kiss some truths and some very hot sex.

Some word repetition in this story, but overall a fun quick read. Beginning to end while I ate lunch.

Forever Ink
Montgomery Ink 1.5
by NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan

The idea of a May-December romance has never looked so hot when it comes to broody lawyer, Morgan and sizzling tattoo artist, Callie. Between conniving family members, blondes with too much time on their hands, and their own misgivings, trust in the bedroom and out of it won’t come easy.

My Review:

This is definitely a favorite in this series. Callie is Austin Montgomery’s apprentice at Montgomery Ink and in the beginning of this book is one of my favorite scenes.

“You’re ready for your own space, hon,” Austin said softly. “You’ve been ready for awhile, but Maya and I wanted to be sure the shop was ready too. Since Tommy moved away when his wife got stationed in Texas last week, we’ve opened up a space. So it’s yours. We’ll talk business and what it all means when Maya gets back, but welcome to the family. You’re one of us.”

Callie threw her arms around Austin’s neck, crying softly. “Oh thank you so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Austin patted her back and set her down. “You’re good at what you do. So go work on the star for that girl over there and then we can work with Morgan together.”

She nodded, a bit dazed, then kissed Austin on the cheek. “Thank you.”

“Putting moves on my man?” Sierra teased as she walked in.

Callie blushed then stepped back from Austin. “He just told me I get my own station, so I was just saying thanks. He’s all yours.”

Sierra beamed and hugged her tight. Callie closed her eyes, letting her family in everything but blood celebrate with her. “I’m so proud of you.” She looked over at Austin. “Maya’s going to be pissed you didn’t wait for her.”

Austin shrugged. “Whatever. I want Callie to work with Morgan and Maya isn’t here. She’ll get over it.”

Callie winced. “I so don’t want to be here when you’re telling her that.”

Thus starts a rollercoaster of a romance with as many ups as downs, tears and laughter and misunderstandings as a person can take.  Morgan has to convince the people around him of what he really wants in life and Callie has to decide if she can handle it all.

Their romance tends to be so hot you need a cold shower to keep reading, then almost frigid with misunderstandings.

I love the way all the novellas and books in this series just flow into one another while remaining standalones. We see the same characters so we watch them grow as they contribute to the current story. Then new ones are introduced giving a peek into the next.

Takedown
A Tapped Out Bonus Novella
by USA Today Bestselling Author
Cari Quinn
After honorably discharged Navy SEAL Liam Walsh discovers his estranged brother, Slater, is living platonically with Abby, the only woman Liam ever loved, he vows to remind her of their scorching history. But Abby has changed since Liam left, and he only has one long weekend to stake his claim…

My Review:

This is one messed up relationship. Liam left Abby and his family when he entered SEAL training. He hasn’t contacted any of them since. Now he is home and he thinks he may be a better person or, at the very least, different.

Liam jumps to a lot of conclusions from the moment Abby opens the door to his brother Slater’s apartment.  He puts his foot in his mouth several times and still the lust between them takes over. After another round of foot in mouth with his brother, about his involvement with MMA and Abby, he walks out, again. Not saying anything he planned on.

He finds himself at the Cage the gym Slater’s best friend Fox owns.  There he finds his sister Jenna working, and he gets to say some of what he wanted to with Slater. This is one of my favorite scenes.

“Don’t leave like that again. Promise me.”

“I promise, nugget.” I brushed her hair out of her face as she eased back. “I’m not going anywhere for a good long while if I can help it.”

Her eyes narrowed. They were so like our mother’s, large and expressive, always showing exactly what she was feeling. Now she was cautiously optimistic…and confused. “Why? I mean, it’s awesome, and I’m so glad you’re here.” She squeezed me in another quick hug. “But, I mean, are you based here? Is there even a base? What’s going on?”

I laughed. Somehow I’d forgotten what a chatterbox my little sis could be. A great thing to be reminded of when you didn’t want to talk about yourself. Soon enough I’d steer the conversation back to her. Until then, I had to answer her questions as honestly as possible.

“I’m medically retired.” As soon as I said the words, I had to clear my throat. I hadn’t had to say them much out loud yet, and the grit in my throat that accompanied them was harder to swallow than I expected. Years of my life and my foreseeable future were gone, just like that. “I will probably go back and help train SEALs at some point, but that’s up to me. Right now, I want to be here with you and your brother and—” I broke off, unable to finish.

“And Abby,” she said gently, reaching for my hand again.

Saying nothing, I nodded.

With the help of his brother Slater’s best friend Fox,  and his sister Jenna, he finally looks at himself inside and out.

This book is very emotional, heart-rending secrets untold until now and fiery, hot sex.

Bound Memories
A Bayou Bound Novella
by Sidney Bristol
Kit Carson is back in his home town to do more than promote his latest reality TV win on Tattoo King. He’s returned to win over the woman who kinked up his world, but Renee LeBlanc isn’t the girl he remembers. Ten years can go in a blink of an eye and he won’t let her walk away from him again.

My Review:

When Kit walks back into Renee’s life, she isn’t sure she wants anything to do with him.  He left her and Peaches (her cat) ten years ago and the struggle to be a female tattoo artist in a male dominated field was just too much. She quit to do something that would pay the bills.

Kit has returned the reigning Tattoo King. He is hoping that Renee will come with him when he leaves to do the convention tours.

Renee, has settled in with a good job, friends but no tattooing. When she and Kit discover he knew the victim of the cold case his uncle is still trying to solve, in spite of being retired and in hospice care, things get very interesting.

This novella has something for everyone. Hot sex, a cold case mystery, a dying relative and two people that have to overcome the hurt of the past.

Fall Tree Blog - Blurb

Robbie Jacobs is content being just one of the guys. For years, she’s run with her ‘Pack,’ a group of rowdy boys she went to high school with, used to party with, and now leans on in times of trouble. She has a couple gal pals, sure, but none of them are as close as the Pack…

Gray Smythe has been the unchallenged leader of their group of friends for years. Stoic, determined, he’s managed to be there for them all through some crazy shit. But when Robbie, the only girl in their group, gets into a car accident, the line between friendship and lover suddenly gets a hell of a lot thinner.

One stubborn Taurus man who’s sure he knows what’s right and wrong and one woman fighting to win back her body and a chance at love… Will Robbie believe Gray is actually Forever Devoted?

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This is a story of devotion and survival. When they first met Robbie and Gray took this vow together, “I solemnly promise to be family, to protect and hunt with you, forever devoted.”

Thus begins a friendship for the ages. Although their group got larger as they got older, they were always the closest.

While out with Gray drowning her sorrows over yet another break-up, Robbie makes a choice that will change their lives forever. With her judgement clouded by alcohol, she waves off Gray’s warning and offer of a cab and leaves the bar with Jason who is too intoxicated to drive. Then the truck rolls over.

Gray never leaves her side at the hospital waiting for her to wake from the coma. Then when she is able to be released takes her to his home and continues with her care as she recovers as much as she can from a brain injury.

Talk about frustrations, neither of these two seem to get it.

Hard-headed and stubborn Robbie doesn’t seem to understand that the only reason Gray isn’t jumping her bones is that she needs to recover. Then Gray doesn’t get that she needs her independence as she gets better.

I laughed and cried throughout this book. Very emotional.

Virginia Nelson 2  Virginia Nelson

Virginia Nelson likes knights in rusted and dinged up armor, heroes that snarl instead of croon, and heroines who can’t remember to say the right thing even with an author writing their dialogue. Her books are full of snark, sex, and random acts of ineptitude–not always in that order.

Corporal Callahan Crowes returns home from Afghanistan missing part of a  leg and haunted by guilt over the loss of his men. He pledges to live every moment of his life to the fullest and works to build a career in the only field he knows besides being a soldier: construction.

Reeling from her fiancé’s infidelity and their broken engagement, Kathleen O’Connor accepts a job far away from Boston and the suffocating pity of friends and family. She puts romance firmly behind her, and, armed with her shiny new architectural degree, launches her career with a commercial construction and design firm.

Her first day on the job, she sees Cal risk his life to rescue a fellow
worker, and is shocked when his act of heroism triggers an unwarranted attack on him from her supervisor. When she learns Cal may lose his job because of his leg, Kathleen urges him to use social media to fight the decision, putting her own job at risk.

The public firestorm pushes Cal into the limelight in ways he least
expects, but shows him a missing limb’s not the barrier to love he’s believed it is. But there’s something besides business politics brewing at work, and when Kathleen’s life is threatened, she discovers there’s more to a man than two good legs—it’s the size of his heart that counts.

SummerBlog My Review

This is the first book I’ve read in this series. I enjoy coming home stories and this one is one of the best I’ve read.

The story begins in Afghanistan where we meet Cal and his team just before an IED changes everything. We are then taken to the present where Cal is working construction. He has a prosthetic leg but he doesn’t announce it to the world, he figures the less folks know about it the less he’ll have to deal with pity.

Kathleen has just started her first job as an architect, at Wiley Design. Eager to prove herself, become part of the team and take her licensing exam. Her first day she is invited to tour the sites in progress with one of the project managers, Paul Warren.  What was supposed to be a routine tour quickly becomes more at the first site.

After the emergency is handled a conversation between Paul and Kathleen is one of my favorite scenes.

Don’t let what he did make him into some kind of hero. Crowes has a prosthetic leg below the knee on the right side. He’s a liability to the company and poses a danger to his coworkers on the site.”

Shock held her still for a second then two. From what she’d seen, he had saved both Julio and Wiley’s Design’s bacon. Anger brought heat to her face. “That liability just saved you from a lawsuit, Mr. Warren.”

Warren’s face reddened. “If he makes a mistake or has an accident, and it’s caused by his disability, the company will be liable.”

Kathleen struggled to keep her voice even and dispassionate. “If you fire him because of his disability, or show any form of prejudice against him because of it, you’ll have every equal rights group out there on your ass, and it will come down on Wiley Construction like a ton of bricks. That may prove more of a liability than having a man with a prosthetic working for the company. I’d tread very carefully.”

Warren glanced in her direction. “I didn’t know you had a law degree to go along with your master’s.” There was a hint of sarcasm in his tone.

Kathleen breathed through the rage threatening to  engulf her. “Employment regulations and rights are part of the curriculum. It’s just good business. If your foreman hired him, he trusts Crowes can do the job. I’d stay away from it.”

Warren remained silent, but his taut jaw and compressed lips gave her pause. If she’d said too much, it could come back on her as well as Cal Crowes. Oh, well, it was too late now.

An exciting beginning to this tale of loves lost, disabilities, self-worth, jealousy, PTSD and much more. A lot is going on and is handled extremely well. I think we pretty much run the entire gambit of emotions. I did laugh and I did cry. Now I have to buy the rest of this series.

SummerBlog About the Author

My name is Teresa Reasor. My husband, Danny, and I have been married for thirty-nine years.  We have three grown children and now have a new son-in-law and a new daughter-in-law.

I’m a writer, an artist, a teacher and I also sing. I’ve retired from my full time position as a primary art teacher after 21 and 1/4  years.  And after 10 years, I retired from my position as an adjunct professor for Eastern Kentucky University.

I’ve remade myself several times in the last 40 years. I was a college student when my husband and I met and started dating (Remake 1 COLLEGE STUDENT).We married a year after we started dating. (Remake 2 WIFE)Four years into our marriage I became a  mother and soon followed two more children. (Remake 3 MOTHER!!!).

I got my children into school and went back and finished my degree and became an art teacher (Remake 4 TEACHER).

I worked at teaching, mothering, and being a wife for ten years while I wrote books and dreamed of being a published author. I went on the hunt for a way to make extra money to help pay for expenses and landed a job as an adjunct college instructor (Remake 5 COLLEGE INSTRUCTOR).

But I never gave up my dream of being published. Then in 2007 it happened for me. I submitted two books to a small publisher and both were excepted and released in ebook and print. Those two books were Highland Moonlight and Captive Hearts.(Remake 6 A PUBLISHED AUTHOR!!)

Then I wrote Breaking Free (Book 1 of the SEAL TEAM Heartbreakers) and after submitting to numerous publishers and never getting a rejection from any of them. I decided to self publish the book. In 2011 I became a publisher.  (Remake 7 WRITER, AUTHOR, PUBLISHER, MARKETER)

Little did I know how that decision would effect my life. Then in October of 2011 I decided to retire from my teaching position at my primary school and work as a writer full time.  (Remake 8  PART TIME RETIREE. 3/4 TIME WRITER, MULTI-PUBLISHED AUTHOR).

I released Timeless my paranormal romantic suspense set in
Scotland in January of 2012. And in September released Breaking Through (Book 2 of my SEAL TEAM Heartbreakers Series) In the spring of 2012 I continued teaching at EKU until they found someone to take my place. I retired from my position in May 2012. In the meantime, I was busy getting my rights back for Highland Moonlight and Captive Hearts. I did rewrites, sent them to a professional editor and rereleased them myself. I also rereleased a short story To Capture a Highlander’s Heart: The Beginning (A Highland Moonlight Spinoff), released a new novella To Capture a Highlander’s Heart: The Courtship and a Steampunk short story titled An Automated Death. And a contemporary comedic short story Caught In The Act.

By September I had another SEAL book ready to release. Breaking Away (Book 3 of my SEAL TEAM Heartbreakers Series) And I retired from my college position after 10 years.(Remake 9 FULL TIME WRITER AND  MULTI-PUBLISHED AUTHOR!!!!! Whoot!)

Since then I’ve released Breaking Ties (A SEAL Team Hearbreakers Novella) And Building Ties (Book 4 of the SEAL Team Heartbreakers).
And I’m expanding into other genres. Whisper In My Ear and Deep Within The Shadows are both Paranormal/Urban Fantasies.

I’m loving retirement and this full time writing gig. BEST JOB EVER. And I feel blessed every day that I can get up and do my thing. It’s a hard job. I spend 12 hour days from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. doing it. But it’s not a burden. I’m so blessed. And I thank God every day that I’m able to do what I love 24-7 if I want to. And I may yet do another remake.

Maybe grandma will be on my horizon. Or some other wonderful thing. But writer and author will always be in the mix.
You’ll be hearing about a new release soon.

READ ON,

SummerBlog My Review

Enter into a world where the humans live underground and the monsters in the form of Werewolves and Vampires rule the surface.

By all rights Rachel Clancy should be joining the first years tonight, her sixteenth birthday. But the council has other ideas. Ideas that come from their leader Isaac Icahn, based on something her father did when she was just a baby. Not exactly fair, she shouldn’t be held responsible for her father’s sins.

The council is made up of Isaac Icahn and his two sons Liam and Noah, Patrick Lyons (her best friends father), two other warriors John Cohen and Raj Moore, and the tie breaker, Mia Sandry. Their decision, she goes out alone, to the Hudson Outpost, deliver the message and return the next night. Rachel is sure they don’t expect her to live, and quite frankly she has her doubts as well.

Her send off is not traditional as only her beloved instructor Keith Endover and Patrick are there. This is one of my favorite scenes and had me tearing up.

Patrick pulled me into a tight embrace. He whispered into my ear, “You’re not almost family. You are family. Carol told Tia what’s been happening. She’s a wreck—her mother can’t get her out of her room—and the boys are so angry I will be surprised if one of them doesn’t come after you tonight.”

My eyes clouded. God, I couldn’t stand the thought of Tia being upset because of me. “Tell her I’ll be fine, and tell the guys to stay away. It’s not their assignment. I won’t have anyone getting in trouble or—” I gulped, barely able to say the words aloud. “Or hurt because of me.” He let me go, and I smiled, suddenly feeling five years old. “Anything else?”

“Stay close to the water. If you follow the map, you’ll hit it in two miles. It’s mostly uphill until you reach the cliffs. The Vamps don’t care for the water. It doesn’t hurt them. They just don’t like it.”

“They never told us in class.”

His eyes were somber. “I know. You should have learned tonight. With the Ones.”

“Are there other things I won’t learn?” My heart fell into my stomach, and I was so nauseated I thought I might vomit on his shoes.

He touched my arm. “Vamps make you cold. Your senses will scream at you that you’re freezing. Wolves make the skin on your arms tingle. Vamps are cold, Wolves are goosebumps.”

“All right.”

He took my arm as he led me toward the elevator. Keith stood next to it. I’d avoided thinking of this moment since I was old enough to understand what would happen. Here it was.

The other kids always had their families to see them off, adult Warriors who had done this themselves. I had Keith and Patrick, and I knew Carol would have been there if she could have been. It was something. I wasn’t alone. Not yet.

I put on a brave face and smiled at them. They’d tried to do so much for me, it was the least I could do for them.

Keith handed me a brown leather satchel. I looked down in confusion. This wasn’t the bag I’d packed three months ago in preparation.

He shrugged, but his eyes were moist. Ah…no…he couldn’t cry. I wouldn’t survive it.

“It’s still your stuff. It’s my old bag. I added some stuff to it. Open it and strap the weapons to you.” I nodded, doing as he said.

I pulled out my stakes, and I went through the practiced motions of attaching the wooden objects to my body with rope. Next came the Wolf fighting tools. I had to take off their heads. My father’s machete, which I had pulled out of the linen closet at my house, was a good tool, or so everyone told me. That I wore behind me like a backpack. I reached once more into the bag, expecting to find my protein bars and water. Instead a strong wooden object nearly cut my hand. I pulled it out and gasped.

It was Keith’s stake. “You’re giving this to me?” Now I couldn’t keep the emotion out of my voice and I didn’t care.

“It’s lucky, and now I’m giving it to you.” His eyes huge, he smiled as the elevator opened. “We’ll see you tomorrow. Tonight you walk, tomorrow night you return.”

Or I didn’t. But I wasn’t going to say that to them. Instead, I walked into the elevator—alone—without my fellow Warriors. I braced myself for the onslaught of the ride, as I’d seen so many others do before me. Finally, I glanced up to give them all one last smile.

“Rachel!”

I gasped as the elevator’s door closed in front of me. I sank to the floor, not letting the bar out of my hand. My Dad had shown, and it had been too late to utter a word to him.

On the surface Rachel is saved from a vampire, that would have been her end, by werewolves. Wolves she didn’t sense as she should have been able to, and then taken captive.

Recovering from the illness contracted from the vampire’s claws, Rachel learns much from these wolves she cannot sense. Things that will change the course of the war against the monsters.

While there is only the promise of romance in this book, there is suspense and lots of action. I cannot guess how the events in this book will influence the next.  I look forward to the next one in the series.

Rebecca Royce Rebecca Royce

As a teenager, I would hide in my room to read my favorite romance novels when I was supposed to be doing my homework. I hope, these days, that my parents think it was worth it.

I am the mother of three adorable boys and I am fortunate to be married to my best friend. I live in Austin Texas where I am determined to eat all the barbecue in town.

I am in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and try to use all of these elements in my writing. I’ve been told I’m a little bloodthirsty so I hope that when you read my work you’ll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. I love to write series because I love to see characters develop over time and it always makes me happy to see my favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.

In my world anything is possible, anything can happen, and you should suspect that it will.

I’d love to hear from you!

Cheers!!
