Up on the raised stage was a naked woman bound in dark orange ropes that matched her braided hair so beautifully that it stole Kenna’s breath. She knew that rope work immediately. Intimately. Remembered its feel around her body. Remembered the hands responsible for the rigging moving against her skin.

And then Kenna let her eyes move to the tall, beautifully built, black-haired Dom wearing a pair of black jeans and nothing else. Griffin Hudson. He stood behind the bent-over woman and held a vibrating wand between her spread thighs. A small moan escaped Kenna’s throat unbidden at seeing him again after all this time. Her heart tripped into a sprint. Heat ripped over her body, even as he teased and tormented another woman, another submissive. God, he was just as gorgeous as he’d ever been, muscular and strong, his rugged face now serious but capable of tenderness and playfulness, too. Every part of Kenna remembered that man—his face, his hands, his mouth, his cock.

And probably would until the day she died.

Just as fast, she locked all those feelings and memories down. She needed to remember why she was here—and why she wasn’t.

“A searingly sexy story with some of the hottest scenes I’ve read in a long, long time. Laura Kaye shows her mastery of the BDSM world. I’m eagerly anticipating more in this bold new series!

~ Cherise Sinclair, NYT Bestselling Author of the Masters of the Shadowlands Series

“Smoldering and sexy, Laura Kaye’s Blasphemy series is everything I look for in a romance. Haunted heroes and strong heroines populate this one of a kind club and I can’t wait to see the big bad Doms fall one by one.”

Haley Sullivan has been through hell and back. Mistaken for homeless, she was snatched off the street by the Russian Mafia and injected with an unknown substance for two weeks. Confused and scared out of her mind, she manages to get her hands on a gun and shoots randomly at a group of men, hoping to escape.

With Mikhail Dudko has followed two Russian idiots who work for the Mafia after a strange ransom exchange. After a shootout that leaves the two mobsters dead—along with the owner of the house—he’s shocked to find the initial shooter to be a frightened, drugged, redheaded woman who takes his breath away in an instant.

But Haley’s saga has just begun. The Russian Mafia wants her back. And Mikhail finds himself glued to her side twenty-four-seven in an effort to protect her. As he falls harder for her every day, he realizes she’s everything he could ever ask for in a woman: gorgeous, kindhearted, and…submissive.

Haley has a lot to work through. The last thing she needs is a man breathing down her back night and day. An enormous man who fights mixed martial arts for an underground Mafia ring and spends the rest of his time bossing her around in a way that makes her heart beat rapidly and her toes curl under just looking at him.

Has she changed? Or did she always have a latent need to be dominated in her blood?

Review Spring Blog - Copy

This tale just keeps getting better and better. Each book unveils a new aspect of our main mystery. That mystery, what is Anton Yenin cooking up in his labs and how soon can the FBI put him out of business?

We start this installment right where we left off, after Haley is rescued from the clutches of Dr. Ted Christianson. Mikhail hasn’t left her. Providing her with safety and security on the inside of her apartment while the FBI is outside. From the moment he carried her from the doctor’s house Mikhail has been fighting his feelings. He wants her but he is a dominant and needs a submissive. Every instinct he has says she is submissive, but would she be willing to try? Slow is the key here, maybe…

As their attraction grows so does the danger as Anton Yenin moves forward with his plans. Now even the FBI is suspect as the tension rises.

Hot Russian MMA fighters and the strong women who come to love them. Sizzling hot scenes, lots of suspense and hold your breath action.

Read the excerpt below for one of my favorite scenes. I can’t wait to read the next one in this series Submit, which is waiting on my kindle now.

From Becca Jameson’s Website
“Why do you do it?” she mumbled.“Do what?” His hand threaded deeper into her hair, forcing her face closer to his. Another few inches and she could get her wish to taste those luscious lips.“Stay here. With me,” she whispered. Why was she lying halfway on this man in nothing but a thin, tight camisole? Insanity was taking over.

“Because you don’t want to go to a safe house, and my apartment is crowded?” He smiled through his logic.

She stared at his lips as a smile spread. Her heart beat faster. She licked her own lips, her mouth suddenly dry.

Silence. Long moments of nothing but her heart rate pounding in her ears. She couldn’t remove her gaze from his mouth.

And then his hand flattened on the back of her head and he pressed gently. “Kiss me.” His voice was ragged. Deeper. Hoarse. He inhaled slowly, not pressing harder. Waiting.

She couldn’t move. She wanted those lips on her so badly. But should she? Weren’t they crossing into dangerous territory if she did so?

“Mikhail…” His name rolled off her tongue. So what if she threw caution to the wind and kissed this gorgeous man who was staying in her apartment? “I don’t want to make things awkward between us,” she told his lips.

“They don’t have to be awkward.”

“But we’re…”

“We’re what? We met. We have a connection. We’re permitted to act on it. There’s no law that says otherwise.”

She wiggled out of his grip and hauled herself to sitting next to him. “There’s the fact that I need you. I don’t want to ruin our friendship because I don’t think I can stay here alone right now.” She crossed her legs and fumbled with her fingers in her lap. “I’m not being fair at all. I know that. But you make me safe. My world’s upside down, and the only times I feel normal are when you’re close. It’s not rational.”

He stroked his hand down her arm and cupped her elbow. “Not everything has to be rational. It just is. There’s a chemistry between us, and you know it. I’ve done my best to keep my distance, let you clear your brain of all the drugs, give you time to put your head on straight.

“But it’s been almost three weeks. I’m not going to lie and say I haven’t been attracted to you from the moment I saw you. I’ve tried to talk myself out of it, but every time I lose.”

She watched his face closely. He was dead serious. And his voice… Damn his voice. His Russian accent tingled down her spine every time he spoke. But right now… His hoarse deep timbre… God…

“You’re so gorgeous.” He touched her hair again. “I love these curls. I love your porcelain skin. I love the way you cross your feet under you nearly every time you sit anywhere. When you laugh, it lights up your face. When you cry, it burns in my chest.” He rubbed a hand between his pecs.

She stopped breathing. Was it possible he was as attracted to her as she was to him?

“If you don’t feel the same, just say so, and I won’t ever mention it again.”

Seconds ticked by again. She slowly lifted her gaze to his face, seeing the vulnerability there. The man laid all the cards down. Without hesitating another moment, she lurched forward and set her mouth on his. She intended to keep it simple, express her agreement with her lips, but that’s not how it went.

As soon as she felt his warm full soft lips, she angled to one side and pressed harder, deepening the kiss. She’d never in her life been this brazen.

But then again, a sexy Russian fighter had never slept for three weeks on her couch.

His lips were everything she imagined and more. Soft. Delicious. And Lord the man knew how to use them.

When she licked the seam between them to tease him with her tongue, her world flipped upside down.

Literally.

He grabbed her shoulders and switched positions with her so she was flat on her back and he hovered over her. Except he didn’t hover. Not at all.

He never broke the kiss. He thrust his tongue into her mouth and devoured her, one hand cupping her face with fingers so broad they extended from the back of her head, over her cheek, and down her neck. His palm rested on her shoulder.

When she moaned into his mouth, he tossed one leg over hers, nudging her knees apart to situate his thigh between them.

She grabbed his forearm with one hand and cupped the back of his head with the other. Holy smokes. Her arousal shot through the roof. Brain cells leaked out onto the pillow. Every inhale filled her senses with more of him. Every swipe of her tongue filled her with his taste.

She molded her hands to his head and forearm, learning his feel. He was rock solid, and she loved it. She smoothed her hand down from his head to his neck and then his back. Every inch of him. Tight bundles of bulging muscles.

He eased his hand down from her face to her torso, spreading his fingers out until they stretched around to her back and down toward her belly. His thumb grazed the edge of her breast and made her arch into him.

He kept kissing her.

She never wanted him to stop.

A fire she hadn’t known existed lit inside her, warming her everywhere. She couldn’t stay still. She needed to move. Touch him everywhere. And she let her hands roam all over his back and down to his ass. So bold. The tight muscles of his butt made her even hotter.

Her nipples pressed against the cotton, abrading them. She wiggled her hips as her pussy came alive as if it had been in hibernation just waiting for the right person to come along and bring it back to life. Wetness leaked into her panties and probably through to her PJs.

She lifted her hips involuntarily, craving the friction against his thigh.

He obliged by pushing his knee up higher and thrusting it against her sex.

Oh. God.

She couldn’t breathe. So much sensation all at once firing from everywhere. She grabbed his shoulders finally and pushed, trying to break the contact. Her body was on overload, every synapse firing at once. No room to think.

Mikhail broke the kiss when she shoved on his chest. His breathing was heavy and erratic. He set his forehead against hers as he caught his breath. His thumb stroked over the curve of her breast.

Suddenly she was self-conscious. This man was a god. His body was a vessel of perfection. She was a skinny redhead with nowhere close to the same level of experience as he clearly had.

After all, he’d managed to scramble her mind in seconds.

“Mikhail…” His name rolled off her tongue so easily. Like honey. And she licked her lips as soon as she spoke. They were swollen. Wet from his kiss.

“Stop squirming, baby. Please.” He closed his eyes, but his mouth curved into a grin.

She froze, not realizing she was still rubbing herself against his bare thigh. The man wore nothing but boxers. “Sorry.” The word came out as a squeak. What was wrong with her?

His eyes popped open. “Don’t be. God, never be sorry for the way you feel. Especially if it’s hot and needy. It’s just that you’re making it difficult for me to be a gentleman here.”

His thumb. God, that thumb. He was driving her mad stroking it across the swollen globe. Every time she breathed, her chest rose up into his thumb tighter.

She opened her mouth, though she didn’t have any idea how to respond. Her face heated. There would be red splotches everywhere, even down her chest and across her breasts. She’d never been able to control that reaction to embarrassment.

Mikhail set a finger on her lips. “Shh. I can see the arguments running around in your head. Stop. Just let yourself feel.”

“I don’t…” she muttered against his finger.

He pressed harder. “I know.”

Summer My Review

I am loving this new sub-series of the Black Hills Wolves. As Drew strengthens the pack bond, a group of Matrons Miss Kathy, Miss Lonnie, Miss Fern and Miss Claire have designated themselves as Matchmakers for the pack. They are convinced that to be strong,  the pack needs new mated couples to produce offspring. This conniving foursome has been planning again, well three of them anyway. This time it is twofold, one get Shawn his mate and two, bring home Miss Claire’s niece. They are of course the same person, but the only clue they have is she is in Minnesota, not exactly a small state. One of my favorite scenes is in the excerpt below when Aunt Fern, begins her play.

Enticing Shawn to find Brienne as a favor to Claire has him wondering about his own position with his mate. He left before she did and she has had no communication with her family for years.

With a little help from Lance, a Minnesota Alpha, Shawn is able to find her quickly. Now to convince her not only to visit Los Lobos but to give in to the mating call. Then maybe he could get her to stay.

Brienne has plans for herself, plans that don’t include having a mate. She’s always known Shawn was hers, seeing him is making her question her plans.

A wonderful story, that shows the emotional aftermath of years of abuse under Magnum, more of the healing and new hope for the future. Lots of romance and some very steamy scenes as the mating chase begins.

With Shawn’s private investigating skills and Saja’s research on the families, I’m pretty sure we’ll start seeing more families reunited. I can’t wait for the next installment in this fabulous shifter series!

Shawn Blu walked into Los Lobos Café and spotted his aunt at a table near the far wall. In front of her sat a paperback book and a mug, along with a pastry. Behind the counter, Ero took the order from a new female. Her long dark hair was pulled into a messy bun, and her gray eyes glittered with—arousal? If the other wolf noticed, he appeared indifferent to it. Oh well. Bypassing his normal routine, of ordering coffee and Danish, he marched over and sat at the table where his aunt waited. Fern glanced up at him. Her warm, affectionate smile greeted him. “Good morning, Auntie.” He leaned in and kissed her cheek. “That twinkle in your eye says you’re up to no good.”

Fern laughed and patted his hand. “I have a job for you.”

A job. Why hadn’t she mentioned it last night when he came over for dinner?

Why did they have to meet in the café? “Okay. What is it?”

“Well, technically, it is two jobs….”

“Okay.”

Ero approached with a cup in one hand and a sweet treat in the other. “You didn’t order. I see why now.” He grinned then winked at Fern.

“I didn’t want to interrupt your time with Cynthia,” Shawn teased. “She’s interested in you.”

“Don’t I know it.” Ero frowned. “But there’s…the spark’s not there.” He glanced at his brother, Luc, who sat in his usual spot.

“Say no more, I understand.” He did, too. They were waiting for their perfect mate. Might be a while, but Shawn had a feeling it would happen. “Thanks for the coffee.”

“You’re welcome.”

Taking a sip of the piping-hot brew, he waited for Ero to leave before returning to the conversation with his aunt. The way Fern watched him—assessing him—left him uneasy. “Should I be afraid of what you’re going to ask of me?”

“Never,” she assured him. “In fact, you’ll win tons of brownie points with Miss Claire if you do this for me.”

Summer My Review

So I’ve started reading a few new to me Authors. Since I really love strong alpha males and strong heroines, I started with the first book of the Corp Security series. It delves into the touchy subjects of spousal abuse and PTSD. These issue may be triggers to some so they should steer clear.

It’s hard to know a friend is being hurt and you can’t do anything to stop it. But finally Izzy does call Dee. After a stay in the hospital, Dee and her friend Greg get Izzy moved out and away from her abusive husband. Now she begins a new life, safe and with her friends if only the husband would sign the divorce papers so she would be truly free.

When her ex sends a disturbing photo to her on her birthday, that sends her into a panic attack, Greg admits she needs more help than he can provide alone. Here is part of the conversation with Greg.
He smiles at me, letting a few gruff chuckles free. “Try and be a badass another day, Izzy. I’m fucking tired. Went to chat with Reid when I left last night. Told him a little about the situation, not everything. He knows there is a husband not wanting to become an ex and not being quiet about it. He doesn’t know the significance behind the picture, but it’s disturbing enough that he didn’t question me too deep last night. I want you to be honest with him. It’s important for him to do his job, Iz. He doesn’t know a thing about shit other than this mess currently going on and the little he needed to know about your marriage to understand the threat. He’s booked solid with shit for the next two weeks, but I told him I would keep my eyes open until we could put a plan of action into play. You meet with Reid, explain the whole situation, everything— and I mean everything— and then we deal. Understand?”

I take a second to process what Greg just said. It’s a lot, and I know he means well, but I do not want someone else in my business.

“Greg,” I start, “I really would feel better if it were just you dealing with this. I don’t really know this guy, and—”

“Not negotiable, Iz. I’m good, but I am not as good as Reid.”

Sighing, I look at Greg. Defeated, I reply, “Fine, G. You know best.”

“That’s right, baby girl. Don’t worry. Reid’s who you need. Him and the boys, between all of us, there is no fucking way that shit fuck is getting his hands on you, got me?”

“Yeah, G. I got you.”

Greg left a little while ago, leaving me with a worried Dee. A worried Dee planning another ‘forget the world’ mission. I’m not sure I can handle another one of these. Her newest plan? Continue with birthday weekend. Since yesterday’s plans went wonky, she calls up Greg to let him know the plan— drinks and dancing at Club Carnal.
Fabulous.

Just what I want.
Axel (Corps Security) (pp. 51-53). Kindle Edition.

From here all the fun begins, anger, hurt, betrayal, love, lust and so much more. Alpha males that will melt your heart and a strong female who will break your heart and mend it again.

A page turner you won’t be able to put down until the end. Then you’ll want to buy the next book in this series, just like I did.

My Review of Ryder – Rope ‘n Ride Series Book 2 – By Em Petrova

Rope ‘n Ride Series Book 2

Summer Blurb

Ryder Calhoun would rather face down an angry bull than commit to a relationship. And that’s exactly what every woman he encounters seems to be after. He’s a championship bull rider, and his family’s reality show is a big hit. He’s not into gold-diggers or Buckle Bunnies who are after the prize—him.

Joy Humphries is rodeo royalty—her dad is a big name in bull riding and she knows what the life’s all about. She also knows men like Ryder Calhoun. Strong, capable and reportedly dashing between the sheets, though Daddy wouldn’t let her hook up with a rodeo man even if she wanted to. But the more she’s around Ryder, the more she thinks he might be different. Or is that all an act for the cameras?

Ryder can’t complete a thought that doesn’t have Joy attached to it in some way. He doesn’t care if she’s slapping his face or letting him kiss her silly—just being around her is enough for him. Trouble is they can’t escape the camera crew, and her father seems to pop up around every turn. There’s also a not-so-little problem with her distracting him in the arena, and he needs these wins to help his family.

Maybe he should just give up on Joy, because the only thing worse than falling for a forbidden woman is doing it in front of reality TV cameras.

Summer My Review

I really can’t imagine having cameras following me day in and day out. The Calhouns have made it work, albeit with some reservations. As this tale unfolds, we get a bit more into the rodeo side of and also see more of life on the ranch.

I love Joy, she is feisty and quick witted, a perfect foil for Ryder. Her home, a ranch, where her father coaches up and coming bull riders, hoping to find the next champion. A favorite scene is in the beginning of the book, when Joy first meets Ryder.
She stopped dead. Face-to-face with the hunky cowboy. The blonde stood in front of him, toying with one of the patches on his shirt right over his pec. The cowboy looked past the blonde and directly at Joy.

Her heart gave a weird wobble. He’s not that great. I just have a weakness for cowboys because they’re forbidden.

“Riding bulls must be so hard,” the blonde said.

Rolling his eyes, the cowboy lightly grasped her wrist and pulled her hand away from his chest. “It’s not like painting your nails.” He looked at the pink claws on the hand he was holding and dropped it.

Joy found the urge to laugh irresistible and let it roll up her throat.

The cowboy looked straight at her and his eyes creased— God, they creased so adorably— and he pushed by the blonde to reach Joy.

Shit, now she was stuck. She’d been caught listening and there was no getting away from this cowboy even if she could uproot her boots from the dirt.

Now that her mind had caught up to her libido, she realized she knew him. Recognized him from TV. “You’re on that reality show Rope ’n Ride.”

He groaned so low that she wondered if she’d imagined it. There was a lot of noise around them.

He reached for his hat brim and gave it a tug. “Ryder Calhoun.”

“Joy Humphries.”

He blinked at her slowly. Then he let his gaze drop from her eyes to her lips and back to her eyes. She had her mother’s lips, too—“ kissing” lips some guy had once told her.

“Humphries. Are we talking rodeo royalty?” His drawl was back, deeper than before and doing brand new things to her body. The energy between them zapped her in all the right places, but she couldn’t act on it.

She nodded. “My father’s Thunder Humphries.”

“Damn, should I bow to you or something?”

She smiled and shook her head. “Maybe it’s you I should bow to. A big-time TV star.”

This time his groan was unmistakable, and she got the feeling he liked his position as much as she liked being the daughter of a famous bull rider. She never could be sure if people liked her because of who her father was or for herself.

“I’d kiss your hand, but they’re both full,” Ryder said.

She remembered the burger and lemonade. “Yeah, I’d better eat and get back to work. It was nice meeting you, Ryder.”

When she started walking away, she wasn’t surprised to find him keeping step with her, but unlike the last cowboy, she didn’t mind this one. Which was dangerous.

“Back to work? What are you doing here in Austin?”

“Helping my father. He’s coaching a few rising stars.”

“Ah.” The short response gave Joy the feeling he didn’t like having more competition, let alone ones coached by Thunder Humphries.

“Why aren’t you in the PBR? You’ve got what it takes,” she said, navigating around a cluster of guys standing in the way talking.

“Hmm, your father is a founder of the PBR, right? Are you selling memberships like Girl Scout cookies now?”

She laughed again— she couldn’t help it. Being back where she belonged made her feel so free and happy. And she liked having Ryder there. His body heat washing over her side made her skin prickle, but most of all she liked what she saw under his sexy exterior. So far, he’d revealed his disdain for a silly Buckle Bunny and his fame.

Maybe this cowboy had some substance.
Ryder (Rope ‘n Ride Series Book 2) (Kindle Locations 191-228). Kindle Edition.

There is a lot of family drama going on, and hostility toward the constant cameras. Finding time to be alone with Joy is one of Ryder’s goals, so he needs to get creative about it. Of course trying to keep it a secret from Joy’s father is a challenge as well. After all, he doesn’t want his little girl with a rodeo cowboy. Of course there are also the ever present Buckle Bunnies, they can give a girl cause to doubt her cowboy’s word. All that and a mix of sizzling hot sex, and maybe even a sniffle or too.

Summer Blurb

It ain’t easy being a rodeo reality star—especially when you’re expected to marry your ex.

After a TV network approaches the six Calhoun family members about doing a rodeo reality show, they jump on the opportunity for even more income needed to keep their ranch in the family. But now that Buck’s knee-deep in film crews, he wishes like hell he could un-sign his name from that contract. Having his personal business aired is no damn fun, and America doesn’t know his fiancée broke things off with him.

Channing loved Buck the moment she spotted him on top of his powerful horse. But she’s had enough of his cool, emotionless personality and she wants out. Only she signed up for this reality series, and she needs that cold hard cash to keep her brother out of the hands of the thugs he owes for gambling debts.

For Buck and Channing, pretending all is well is difficult. Keeping their hands off each other is impossible, and throwing the film crews off their horny scent is a challenge that’s becoming fun. Channing is starting to view Buck in a brand new light. And he sees her true colors when she finds a way to help the whole Calhoun family. Maybe she really will get that wedding ring and his last name.

Summer My Review

Nothing like a reality show to add stress to everything. With an obnoxious cousin trying to take their ranch the Calhoun’s have rallied together to but it back from him. Channing has her own issues. With a gambler brother who owes more than he can pay and wondering if her relationship with Buck is only really good sex.

Then we have Buck’s  calf roping partner, Asher. His wife ends up in rehab leaving him with their two young daughters to take care of.  This causes a lot of stress on the main money maker, the Rodeo. A favorite scene is with Channing taking care of the girls and they escape from the motel room.
“Where the hell did they go?” She’d gone into the bathroom for two minutes and come out and they were gone. Nobody had a key but her, so it wasn’t possible that Asher had come looking to take his little girls to breakfast.

A muffled giggle sounded, and she whirled. “The little shits are outside!” She was only wearing a bra and panties. Hell, were they even dressed? She grabbed the first thing she saw— Buck’s T-shirt, and threw it on while jerking open the door. Two little dark-haired imps stood on the sidewalk like the twins from The Shining. At this point, they seemed as evil.

Channing dragged in a deep breath, almost asphyxiating herself on the exhaust from an idling truck and trailer not far away. At that moment, one of the competitors, Chip, came around the corner of his truck and spotted her. She wasn’t wearing pants. Was this how mothers felt? If so, she didn’t relish the thought of starting a family.

“Get your little bodies in here,” she whispered angrily to the little girls, who just laughed as they ran inside.

“Howdy, Channing.” Chip lifted his hat to her.

“Hi, Chip.” She couldn’t turn around— Buck’s T-shirt probably wasn’t even covering her ass. Sliding her foot to the side, she did a funny shimmying step back to the door. But she’d forgotten her key inside and Asher’s spawn had locked her out.

Frustration lit her fuse and she turned to pound on the door, uncaring about Chip looking at her ass and bare legs. “Let me in! Montana, Maddie! Open the door!”

More giggles.

Yep, she was definitely going to figure out how to remain childless for the rest of her days. If quiet, kind Asher produced hellions like these, she couldn’t imagine what a Calhoun child would be like.

Not that she’d ever find out anyway. She and Buck were not getting married. Well they might have to stage a wedding but there definitely would not be a marriage license.

She groaned and pounded her forehead on the door twice. “Dammit.”

“Dammit!” one of the girls said from inside. The other one squealed and repeated it.

Great. Now I’ve corrupted them. No, they’re probably plotting to exhaust me, then kill me in my sleep.
Buck (Rope ‘n Ride Series Book 1) (Kindle Locations 1606-1628).Kindle Edition.

Lots of emotional ups and downs for everyone not just Buck and Channing. Lots of sizzling hot sex in spite of the insecurities. I just had to keep turning the pages to see what kind of a twist would happen next.

Summer My Review

One of my favorite things about this series is the way Jayne brings us to each place. Her words enable the vision of each environment as if we are seeing, smelling and interacting with it.

The Dive Master’s set sail again with a location in mind to grow and continue the research begun in Going Deep. That’s not all that’s on the Cook Islands, Archer wants a unique engagement ring for Waverly and the creator of the perfect designs lives there. Also in their plans is talking to the council to get consent for their project.

From the moment Tosin sees Kahori, he is lost. This is one of my favorite scenes.
Before she could derail her own happiness, Miguel reminded her about the earrings he wanted as well. She wrapped them in pretty paper and a box, thinking about how on any other day it would have been a major sale. While she did that, Tosin pointed to the bracelets he’d noticed before.

“I can’t be left out. How much for the masculine version of the leather, coral, and shell bracelet? This one, way in the back.” He lifted his chin at his friends. “Unlike these guys, I’m single. Selfish, too. I want some of your work for myself.”

“Oh.” Kahori paused, trying to find a tactful way to decline. “I’d prefer not to separate the his-and-her set. They’re carved from the same components. See how they fit together? It’s actually my favorite thing I’ve ever made, though obviously not the finest.”

Archer had clearly snagged that object for himself.

Kahori opened the back of the case and laid the bracelets beside each other. Tosin watched carefully as the organic curves tucked into each other and made a single shape when connected, sort of like a best friend charm girls gave each other.

“You’re right. They belong together.” He smiled at her, close enough as they leaned over the counter together that she could detect the flecks of silver mixed into his irises. Tosin inspired all sorts of ideas for creations in her mind. She wished she had a sketchbook right then. “I’ll take them both, please.”

Kahori trailed her finger over the familiar length of the bracelets in a loving goodbye before she packaged them as well.

The day was easily the best in the history of her shop. And she had these three guys to thank for it.

When she handed Tosin the package, their fingers brushed. She sucked in her breath and tried not to drop the bag when he curled his hand around hers.

Tosin repaid her unintentional compliment. “I’m not going to lie. I expected to be bored out of my mind when Archie dragged us out shopping this afternoon. But you’ve made the experience extremely enjoyable.”
Going Hard (Divemasters Book 3) (Kindle Locations 335-349). Happy Endings Publishing. Kindle Edition.

Now to convince her he’s the one for her. Things go wrong almost from the start as Kahori runs from him and encounters more trouble than she could ever imagine on her island home.

A fast paced read with suspense, scintillating sex and twists at every turn.

Summer My Review

I think Lisa’s books are the only cliffhangers I read on a regular basis. I always tell myself I’ll wait until at least the second book before I start, but alas I have no will power. I fell into this book hard. From the beginning, when Shane gets his first look at Emily, to the end, I had no choice but to keep turning the pages.

A favorite scene is their first meeting.
My order appears and I straighten, intending to claim my coffee and find a seat, when a pretty twenty-something brunette races forward in a puff of sweet, floral-scented perfume, and grabs it.

“Miss,” I begin, “that’s—”

She takes a sip and grimaces. “What is this?” She turns to the counter. “Excuse me,” she calls out. “My drink is wrong.”

“Because it’s not your drink,” Karen reprimands her, setting a new cup on the counter. “This is your drink.” She reaches for my cup and turns it around, pointing to the name scribbled on the side. “This one’s for Shane.” She glances at me. “I’ll be right back to fix this. I have another customer.”

I wave my acknowledgment and she hurries away, while my floral-scented coffee thief faces me, her porcelain cheeks flushed, her full, really damn distracting mouth painted pink. “I’m so sorry,” she offers quickly. “I thought I was the only one without my coffee and I was in a hurry.” She starts to hand me my coffee and then quickly sets it on the counter. “You can’t have that. I drank out of it.”

“I saw that,” I say, picking it up. “You grimaced with disgust after trying it.”

Her eyes, a pale blue that matches the short-sleeved silk blouse, go wide. “Oh. I mean no. Or I did, but not because it’s a bad cup of coffee. It’s just very strong.”

“It’s a triple-shot latte.”

“A triple,” she says, looking quite serious. “Did you know that in some third-world countries they bottle that stuff and sell it as a way to grow hair on your chest?” She lowers her voice and whispers, “That’s not a good look for me.”

“Fortunately,” I say in the midst of a chuckle I would have claimed wasn’t possible five minutes ago, “I don’t share that dilemma.” I lift my cup and add, “Cheers,” before taking a drink, the heavy, rich flavor sliding over my tongue.

She pales, looking exceedingly uncomfortable, before repeating, “I drank from that cup.”

“I know,” I say, offering it back to her.

“Try another drink.” She takes the cup and sets it on the counter. “I can’t drink that. And you can’t either.” She points to the hole on top, now smudged pink. “My lipstick is all over it and I really hate to tell you this but it’s all over you too and…” She laughs, a soft, sexy sound, her hands settling on her slender but curvy hips, accented by a fitted black skirt. “Sorry. I don’t mean to laugh, but it’s not a good shade for you.”

I laugh now too, officially and impossibly charmed by this woman in spite of being in the middle of what feels like World War III. “Seems you know how to make a lasting impression.”

“Thankfully it’s not lasting,” she says. “It’ll wipe right off. And thank you for being such a good sport. I really am sorry again for all of this.”

“Apologize by getting it off me.”

Confusion puckers her brow. “What?”

“You put it on me.” I grab a napkin from the counter and offer it to her. “You get it off.”

“I put it on the cup,” she says, clearly recovering. “You put it on you.”
“I assure you, that had I put it on me, we both would have enjoyed it much more than we are now.” I glance at the napkin. “Are you going to help me?”

Her cheeks flush and she hugs herself, her sudden shyness an intriguing contrast to her confident banter. “I’ll let you know if you don’t get it all.”

My apparently lipstick-stained lips curve at her quick wit but I take the napkin and wipe my mouth, arching a questioning brow when I’m done. She points to the corner of my mouth. “A little more on the left.”

I hand her the napkin. “You do it.”

She inhales, as if for courage, but takes it. “Fine,” she says, stepping closer, that wicked sweet scent of hers teasing my nostrils. Wasting no time, she reaches for my mouth, her body swaying in my direction while my hand itches to settle at her waist. I want this woman and I’m not letting her get away.

“There,” she says, her arm lowering, and not about to let her escape, I capture her hand, holding it and the napkin between us. Those gorgeous pale blue eyes of hers dart to mine, wide with surprise, the connection sparking an unmistakable charge between us, which I feel with an unexpected, but not unwelcome, jolt. “Thank you,” I say, softening the hard demand in my tone that long ago became natural.
Hard Rules: A Dirty Money Novel (pp. 4-6). St. Martin’s Press. Kindle Edition.

With all the tension created by their dying, unfaithful father, Derek and Shane are at odds. Shane to make all the businesses legal and Derek who just doesn’t get the importance of that. All that and a mother whom I can’t tell who’s side she’s on, but probably just her own.

A relationship forming with enough ups and downs to mimic a rollercoaster, Emily has secrets that she needs to trust Shane enough to share with him. These two run hot and cold and back to hot again in a heartbeat.

A suspenseful tale with secrets we aren’t privy to. Family drama to the max and off the charts hot sex.
I really can’t wait for the next book in this series, February seems so far away.

Summer My Review

This story tugged my heartstrings right from the beginning. Jason knew Olivia from when she was a child. Best friends and she had gone away to school in the east to learn to live a full life with her blindness.Jason believed her dead along with her parents when the fever struck Dorado. Memories pummeled him as the new constructed General Store with the apartment above was completed. Then he saw her and all he wanted to do was protect her. He couldn’t protect her from the truth though. This is a favorite crying scene.

“Olivia,” Jason’s hand tightened on hers and pulled her around.“Where are we?” Maybe he’d taken them into a quieter building for their reunion before going home. They’d crossed the street—and the store wasn’t on this side of the street.“Olivia, we need to talk.” Careful, considerate words deeply tinged by chill worry. Her heart began to race. “What happened? Where is Papa?”Jason sighed. “I need you to trust me for a few minutes more, I want you to sit down.”“Fine, but there are only stools in the store, no chairs. We’d have to go upstairs…”

His hesitation scared her more. “Come sit on the steps.”

A knock at the door and Jason turned away from her. “One moment, Olivia.” He opened the door. “Not now. Leave me to tell her. I’ll speak to you all later.” The door shut with an abrupt bang and the bolt slid home. He led her over to the steps and she took a seat. “May I take this for you?” He tapped the stick she’d locked in a death grip.

“Thank you.” It took effort to unpeel her fingers from it.

“I’m putting it one foot away to lean against the railing.” He tapped the railing so she could find it.

“Thank you,” she murmured again, and swallowed. All the moisture in her mouth seemed to have fled and her chest hurt. “Jason, please tell me what’s wrong.”

He sat down next to her, the weight of his presence a great comfort. Catching her hands in his, he sighed. “I have no easy way to say this.”

“Straight truth is better.” Because it had to be better than this horrible sense of wrongness.

“A fever came to the town last summer.” Her stomach clenched and tears burned in the back of her throat. “Oh…oh no…” “We lost nearly the whole town…including your parents.”

The world slid sideways and Olivia pulled her hands away to stuff them against her mouth before she started screaming. He didn’t let her get away, but instead wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close.

“I thought—I thought you had been one of those lost.” Grateful for the bruising squeeze of his arms, she fought to find her footing in this unfamiliar nightmare. “I was at the Perkins School in Boston. I’ve been there for the last three years…I went to learn.” They couldn’t both be dead. How could they have died and no one told her?

“I didn’t know.” Quiet wonder underscored his words. “I swear to you, I didn’t know.”

She believed him. “You weren’t here when I left.” It wasn’t an accusation, but he stiffened around her.

“I know.” He accepted her charge. “I should have been here. I thought…no one told me that you’d gone away to school.”

Odd. Then again Jason had traveled extensively and he’d gone back East to school. The last evening they’d shared together, and he’d sat with her throughout a town dance. She’d been just a month shy of her fifteenth birthday and they’d discussed her education possibilities. Dorado hadn’t much in the way of schools. Though she’d had some tutoring in subjects, most of what she’d learned came from the books Jason or her mother read to her.

“What happened to their things?” She wanted to go curl up in their bed, maybe pretend for a little while they were not gone.

Another silence and the dread ticked over inside of her. “We had to burn the town.” He went on to explain the devastation of the fever, the staggering number of the lost and the decision to burn everything lest they risk a spread of the fever. The dull pain inside of her numbed—it was almost too much to comprehend.

“This is a new Dorado, then?” Because she’d given her instruction to the coachman and he hadn’t acted like he took her to some destroyed town.

“Yes. We’ve been rebuilding it. We’ve also moved the town, the old one—the original one—is a few miles to the west. We’re closer to the Flying K, here.”

The Flying K. Jason’s home. The ranch so far away that he could only see her once every month or two. She’d always wanted to go and visit him on the ranch, but her father’s work in the store kept him busy and her parents never wanted her to go far—too afraid of what might happen if she couldn’t see the danger.

He brushed a finger down her cheek, and she realized she was crying. Hot, fat, damp tears slid down one after another.

“I am so sorry, Olivia.” He repeated the litany over and over, and when she burrowed into him, he held her. Her parents were dead. Her home was gone.

This was not the homecoming she’d dreamed about. But Jason was here…and her heart took solace in his nearness and clung to him for comfort. He didn’t disappoint her, and he didn’t let her go.
Wanted: Fevered or Alive (Fevered Hearts #6) (Kindle Locations 698-736). Kindle Edition.

Many hard truths come out in this book, even as Olivia finds her home with Jason. Lots and lots of tissues needed. Another one I just couldn’t put down.
