This book was a gift in exchange for an honest review.

Rachel is now living in Redemption. Followed around by Icahn’s sons Darren and Liam, she is still plotting and planning.

Sent on a mission of sorts to administer the Vampire virus antidote to Anton, so he can help the brother’s over some problem with one of their many experiments.

Her agenda is different though, she needs to kill Jason, even sane, he is a danger to her and she will not let him take her out.

As with most well thought out plans, this too goes awry. She is discovered by Deacon, Micah, Chad, and Glen then brought to Genesis and placed under house arrest.

Surrounded by all the things she has been trying to avoid, does Icahn really hold the key to her freedom or will she find a way to get out and continue with her plans.

There are many surprises in this book, not quite as OMG plot twist as ‘Subversive’ but they are right up there.

I can’t wait for the next one in this series, Justice!

As a teenager, I would hide in my room to read my favorite romance novels when I was supposed to be doing my homework. I hope, these days, that my parents think it was worth it.

I am the mother of three adorable boys and I am fortunate to be married to my best friend. I live in Austin Texas where I am determined to eat all the barbecue in town.

I am in love with science fiction, fantasy, and the paranormal and try to use all of these elements in my writing. I’ve been told I’m a little bloodthirsty so I hope that when you read my work you’ll enjoy the action packed ride that always ends in romance. I love to write series because I love to see characters develop over time and it always makes me happy to see my favorite characters make guest appearances in other books.

Fall Tree Blog - Blurb

He’s single, wicked, and a perfect pretend boyfriend…but exactly who is she fooling?

Murphy DeWitt enjoyed two years touring American consulates in Europe as an assistant to a diplomatic attaché. It was a dream come true, and a hell of a learning experience. A master of languages, she knows how to get her point across. Romance, however, proves to be a tongue twister. Now en-route to Willow Bend for a friend’s wedding —without the make-believe boyfriend she created for her family—she debates how to confess her deception. Luckily, her flight includes a fantastically hot wolf that leaves her breathless and contemplating all kinds of naughty things.

Giovanni Conti thrives on protecting others. As a Centurion for the Seven Hills pack in Italy, it’s his pleasure to serve his Alpha wherever he is needed. Dispatched ahead in preparation for the Alpha pair’s trip to Willow Bend, he has no problem entertaining the sexy wolf he encounters in the airport. The last thing the playboy wolf expects, however, is to find in Murphy the most captivating chase of his life…

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

I love the Wolves of Willow Bend. They captured my heart with the first book and each book gets better and better.

What do you get when you take a Willow Bend Wolf and a Seven Hills Centurion? You get a steamy hot romance filled with laughter and fun.

Murphy DeWitt is returning to Willow Bend after two years of traveling the globe as a diplomatic interpreter. She is looking forward to being home except for one little thing. She told her mother she had a wolf boyfriend to get her to stop pushing on the whole marriage/mating thing. Not that she is against it, after all she was going to be a bridesmaid in her friend Shiloh’s wedding in a couple of days.

Giovanni is traveling to Willow Bend in advance of his Alpha Salvatore and his mate Margo to ensure security for them as they attend her brother Matt’s wedding. When he smells a female wolf at the airport when he passes through security, he is intrigued and manages to place himself in her way.

Murphy literally runs into Giovanni, and thus begins an interesting relationship.

With their flight fortuitously delayed, he convinces Murphy to join him for a meal. However it is a lot more than just a meal he has in mind. In his dominant wolf way he changes her flight to first class, orders up the meal and arranges a shower for her at the First Class Lounge Spa. A shower she and her wolf decide to let him share, but not before she determines it has nothing to do with politics or their packs. Talk about a hot, steamy shower, this one raises the heat to a whole new level.

During their flight Giovanni also books a hotel and rents a car for the two of them to travel from Chicago to Willow Bend. Protective much?

One of my favorite scenes (of which there are many) is during Murphy’s first run since her return to Willow Bend. She has discovered the guest house where Giovanni is staying and is intercepted first by the hunter Collin then by her Alpha, Mason.

“I went to the bar looking for you but Joanie mentioned you needed a run.”

When he released her, she backed off a pace and nodded to him. Cocking her head, she kept her ears focused on him.

“So you ran all the way to where Giovanni is staying, hmm?”

He was here? The longing to go and see him flooded her all over again. Dipping her head, she lowered her gaze in apology. If she shifted she could ask Mason if she could go see him.

“I know you two have been dating, but for now I need the two of you to keep your distance. Salvatore will be here tomorrow and that always makes things a little tense.” He didn’t owe her any explanations. Orders were orders. The desire to see Giovanni warred with her Alpha’s wishes. “If it makes you feel any better, he will be at the wedding. I had a job offer I wanted to discuss with you, if you’re up to it.”

Excitement threaded with confusion punched through her. The wedding was more than twenty four hours away, almost a day and a half. She wanted to sidle and wander in the direction Collin vanished. Maybe it was the guest house. If she accidentally tripped over Giovanni…

“Murphy.” Command halted her in place and she sat, tail tucked. The Alpha’s strength rolled over her and flattened her ears. A low growl rumbled in his throat, and Mason looked away from her toward the night sky. “Another one, dammit.” She had no idea what he was talking about, but decided it was probably for the best. “Damn Italians.” But the last words carried no heat, just exasperation so she flicked her ears forward.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read, no angst, no drama, just pure sexy fun!

From paranormal historical westerns to contemporary military romance, Heather might switch genres, but one thing is true in all of her stories–her characters drive the books. When she’s not wrangling her menagerie of animals, she devotes her time to family and friends she considers family. Fall Tree Blog - Blurb

There’s nothing worse for a writer than missing a deadline. For Griffin Montgomery, his failure to do what he loves comes at a blow. He didn’t understand how it was affecting his life until his well-meaning family intercedes. His sisters have hired him a new personal assistant and he’s outraged—that is, until he sees who it is.

Autumn Minor is light on her feet and a bare memory for most people she meets. She does her best to blend in everywhere she lives, even if it’s only for a short period of time. Making sure no one truly notices her is the only way she’s survived this long. Only when she meets Griffin and the rest of the Montgomery’s, she’s afraid she won’t be able to let go when its time to run.

Though the two begin a tentative but explosive relationship, they know it can’t last forever. Neither of them are made for the long haul when it comes to love and romance. When the demons from Autumn’s past find her and put both their lives at risk, Griffin will stop at nothing to protect her. In the end, though, he’ll be the one who needs a second chance

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This book was a gift in exchange for an honest review.

I love this series and in this book we get a look at everyone and more. By more I mean hints at the books that are coming.

While this is about Griffin and Autumn, we learn a bit more about Jake, Maya’s friend. We are introduced briefly to Holly , Jakes girlfriend and Border Jake’s one time lover/friend? There is more of Sloane’s growly protectiveness of Hailey. Baby announcements, can you guess who? An update on Alex in rehab. News on Dad’s cancer. So much new information that makes me ache for the next book.

The Montgomery’s are known for taking care of their own. When Griffin gets behind on his deadline due to a rather intense case of writer’s block, his Mom, along with his sisters lovingly called the M & M’s (Meghan, Maya and Miranda), step in with a solution. One he is given no choice but to accept.

The beautiful and mysterious Autumn will become his personal assistant.  Hired by the women in his life, he can’t fire her, as he has with others in the past. She will organize everything around him so he can concentrate on the important things, writing.

We met Autumn at the end of Megan and Luc’s book Harder Than Words. An interesting young lady who never gets attached to any one place. Now we will find out why she runs. Will she continue to, now that she has found something she never expected?

I usually put up a passage but this from Griffin’s head really touched me.

He didn’t know why that hurt, but he pushed it aside like he had all the other times words had hurt. Words were far more powerful than most believed. That’s why he wrote them.

From the messy house to organization, this book held me in it’s tight clutches to the very end. Some inventive hot sexy scenes and so much more. Laughing and crying and just plain more please.

I can’t wait for the next in this series.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This book was a gift in exchange for an honest review.

As the tale continues we now know of all the Outsiders. In this one the Outsiders are living in the caves of their ancestors. Marina, who lost her memory in a magical blast six months ago, feels as if she is a kidnap victim. Still no closer to regaining her memory, Drew decides to use tough love and issues a challenge to her in the chamber where their parents failed to capture the demon, leaving her surrounded by evil, to find her way out of the maze.

Since nothing is ever easy, Sebastian attacks with earthquakes and transports Marina to St Croix where Alexa awaits her. Alexa is but a shell of what she might have been, craving blood instead of food, I almost feel sorry for her.

Just as Drew is about to open himself to Sebastian in order to find her, Marina gets it all together, and by all together I mean WOW together. This is part of the conversation, when they are together with Alexa and Sebastian pops in, one of my favorite scenes.

“Sebastian.” Alexa pulled herself out of Marina’s touch. “You have to help me.

You have to tell me what to do.”

“No one has ever told you what to do in more lifetimes than I can count.” Marina spoke only to Alexa and it finally dawned on Drew what was going on. Marina had gotten her powers back and she’d really possessed them this time. Things she’d always been able to do but hadn’t worked out how to tap into yet before she lost her abilities flooded through her. Marina had never once been able to see past lives before. Every other word out of her mouth was about things the rest of them couldn’t know.

That couldn’t be normal.

“Sebastian.” Drew stepped toward the demon and stared right at him so the creature would know Drew did indeed see him. “You have no place here. Be gone with you.”

“No.” Sebastian hissed. “It’s the two of you who have no business being in this world. It belongs to me. Always has, always will. And I’ve taken steps. You’ll never even know it happened. This is my turn. Mine.”

“Oh, for the love of…” Marina snarled and waved her hand in the air. The demon’s eyes got big before he vanished from the room.

Drew cocked his head to the side. “That’s so fucking cool.”

“He was boring me.”

“You made him go poof.”

She grinned, the first real smile she’d bestowed since he arrived. “Yeah, I did.”

Once again lots of stuff going on, We find out about a scribe, the others find out about Gia, Rachel and Zane. Sebastian’s mother shows up. They all end up at a beginning and damn this book is too quick to end.

Waiting impatiently for the next installment of this series.

I did find a few grammatical errors, but they weren’t enough to distract from the excitement. Mostly missing words. An example. She shoved them her pocket hoping Marina didn’t notice.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

This book was a gift in exchange for an honest review.

The Phoenix (Mel/Nix) has been on the run for more than a century from the demon Levi. He killed her first host in front of Caleb, and then she lost her second host to child birth. Attached to the child she met Amelia. Melanie and Amelia were best friends and when Levi once again found and killed her host, the Phoenix attached herself to Amelia.

She is also running from her mate, Caleb, believing he betrayed her all those years ago. Consciously or unconsciously the Phoenix has been communicating with  Caleb. Her method is through her host Amelia’s dreams, very hot sexy dreams.

Levi has not only sent trackers but also Caleb to find them. Caleb has also figured out that Levi wants all of them, but mostly Mel. The question is why.

This is one of my favorite scenes is a conversation between Mel and Amelia when they run into Caleb.

The same demon from the too-hot-for-words dreams. Heart pounding, she tried to stay calm while the clerk checked her out.

Mel, this is not the time to leave me.

“Um, he’s a hellhound with shapeshifting abilities. He’s also a bounty hunter.

Fuck me. That wasn’t good. Levi sent him, didn’t he? Mel didn’t respond. Mel. What is wrong with you?

“Nothing. Let’s get out of here.

In the year they’d been together, Mel had never lied to her. But that was what the Phoenix just did. Amelia knew it. Or at least Mel was not telling her something, and that was the same thing in Amelia’s book. She bet it had something to do with the erotic dreams.

Gathering her purchases, she darted out the door and Lia Davis ran to her car. They were on the road within moments.

“Spill. What the hell is going on?”

Mel let out a sigh. “That demon is my mate.

Oh, hell no.

“You do realize he is here to either kill us or take us to Levi.”

“There is that.Mel fell silent for a moment. “We could seduce him. With a hellhound on our side, you’d be strong enough to kill Levi and whoever else comes after us.

The Phoenix had gone insane, completely lost it.

“I’m not seducing a demon.”

“We can’t fight him either. Besides, we have been seducing him for the last few months.”

“The dreams?” When the Phoenix didn’t reply, Amelia released a frustrated growl. She already knew the answer. “Damn it, Mel. Why couldn’t your mate be a nice, normal, wealthy human?”

The bird didn’t respond. Whatever. Damn it.

“I’m not on board with this until you explain to me who he is to you.”

Mel blew out a frustrated breath. “I told you, he’s my mate. Now that he has found me…us, he will track us no matter where we go. At least leading him to the farm will be away from human ears and eyes.”

There was a hint of saddens in her tone that made Amelia’s heart ache.

“He broke your heart.”

“More like broke my trust. Although, I’m not sure it was completely his fault.

“I’m so confused.” Amelia gripped the steering wheel tighter. “I’m not seducing him. I’ll talk to him, but I’m not seducing him.”

Now all three of them must come together, as mates, to either win this battle with Levi or die.

A tense battle of wills, hardheaded women and an alpha male with lots of hotness in the form of a sexy demon hellhound changeling.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review
I purchased this book with the other two after reading this series from book four hoping to become less confused over who’s who.

I still find the back and forth between POV is a bit confusing, and several times I had to go back a page or two to figure out who’s head we are in. However, the story is such that I can’t help but continue reading.

Sophie and Chase are at a turning point in their relationship celebrating their engagement, when Jack her “late” fiancé  shows up very much alive. This is quite the shock not only for Sophie but Ana (his sister)as well.

After the initial shock Sophie and Jack talk and then she leaves with Chase. Jack is devastated, Ana is fuming, and Chase is praying.

Everyone has a lot to come to terms with, especially Jack when he realizes Sophie is never leaving Chase for him.

We meet Sophie’s mother in this one, and all I can say is she is a consummate bitch. No mother should ever treat their daughter the way Grace treats Sophie. One of my favorite scenes happens during Christmas dinner, when Chase goes off on Grace.  This is a part of that conversation.

“That’s full of cheese and heavy cream, Sophia Paige,” Grace interjects, wiping the smile off my girls face. “If you’re having pie, you may want to make sure you don’t go overboard. Remember, a moment on your lips, a lifetime on your hips.”
What the fuck is wrong with this woman? “Grace!” Debbie says in shock from across the table.
“What? She wants to get married so badly,” she says in a saccharin sweet tone. “I’m sure she wants to look her best for Prince Charming here. I’m just trying to help!”
“Okay, I’m done,” I start, angry and determined to make my point no matter how childish it might be. Taking the bowl from her hand, I pile a massive portion on Sophie’s plate. Honestly, more than even I could eat, but I can’t stop. When I’ve all but emptied the serving bowl on her plate, I set it down with a thud and face my girl.
“Chase…” she starts, her eyes round from the shock of my reaction, but I can’t hold my tongue anymore.
“Sophie Ryan, I want you to listen to me. I love your hips. I don’t care if you gain five hundred pounds and I have to shove your ass in a wheel barrow and roll you down the aisle. If you don’t eat every single bite of that macaroni and cheese, so help me God I will call off this wedding myself,” I tell her seriously. Taking a bite of my ham, I look at her mother and smirk. “And she’s eating pie, too, Grace. All of it.”

Surprisingly it is not Grace who reveals the big secret but Jack. Thus creating even more anxiety for all of our leading characters.

These characters are very complex and I have come to love each of them. The relationships are totally on fire and the sex is red hot!

Alas, this is another cliffhanger and I am grateful that I can now re-read The Commitment with more knowledge of the character’s relationships.
