Christmas 2015 Blog Review

Okay, you know I love my Cowboys so here’s another Christmas favorite.

I met Lacey and Cole in Cowboy’s Match (Poker Flats #2). This is the story of their first Christmas together.

Cole and Lacey are great together, her accounting skills have made the Last Chance Ranch financially solvent. Cole is a firefighter and operates his horse rescue from this ranch owned by his grandparents. Unfortunately the ranch house is full to bursting at the moment.

Angel is an abused White Arabian who is scared to death of men. Only Lacey and their female vet can get near her.

This story starts off very hot and sexy with Cole and Lacey’s Christmas Eve surprises for each other. Unfortunately that initial bliss turns a bit cold when the subject of Christmas Day at his parents comes up.

Cole’s mother had kept them apart for eight years and Lacey isn’t ready to forgive that. Lacey just wants it to be the two of them this year. Nothing like family drama at Christmas.

In the midst of all this, Angel’s abusive owner shows up and Christmas takes an entirely different turn.

Love, guilt, anxiety and more factor into this read and even Karma shows up.

Christmas 2015 Blog Review

I bought this during the summer but waited until now to read it.  I love military romance and this book is no exception.

Navy Seal Jesse Richter is home for Christmas and his time is being monopolized by his family and friends. That’s about to change because he meets a beautiful waitress Charlie. He finally thinks he can let go of the past, with her.

Charlie Morgan is the adopted daughter of the town’s mayor and has a criminal history thanks to her birth father. She also has a secret one she must keep to protect the ones she loves.

Jesse doesn’t give up easy and as many SEALS seem to, falls hard and fast for Charlie. He is determined to fix things for her, if only she will open up to him.

As this story unwinds you can feel and see the toll the internal struggles are taking on both of the characters. Trust isn’t easy and love is even harder.

An emotional and sexy book, plenty of action and lots of surprises. Have some tissues handy you just might need them.

Christmas 2015 Blog Review

Let’s take a trip, this time to a ranch in Texas. I love how Becky puts us right into the feel of ranch life. As you read you can smell the hay and other things. But mostly the sweet, fresh country air.

Cole and Hope have last ditch jobs at the Mall, as Santa and his photographer elf. However her first day becomes their last when a screaming child’s antics pushes Cole beyond his limits.

Cole fires his agent, who is faithful to the client who has now blackballed Cole’s modeling career and decides to tuck tail and return home where he belongs.

Hope lost everything, her best friend, her fiancé, her inheritance and her family when her camera malfunctioned at a socialite’s wedding. This job was to pay her rent, now she’s lost that too. Then she comes up with an idea that would save her career, boost her friend Tina’s company and launch Cole’s career again if he chooses.

Cole’s father is sick, the ranch falling apart, his brother distant from his son, and Cole’s return is like a slap in the face. Hope’s idea falls to the wayside, but she offers up another way to make everything right for her, Cole and his family.

The only thing they don’t see coming is the love that sneaks up on them.

A story of family and hardship and the love that binds them whether they like it or not.

The Cowboy Way is one of my favorite series and this is the beginning.

Christmas 2015 Blog Review

This is a tale of strength, kindness and Christmas miracles.

Nathaniel returns home from the war to find his father almost an invalid, and being helped by some of the older children from the orphanage run by Melanie.

The orphanage is fraught with problems, some to do with the general lack of maintenance on the property, but the biggest is the pending sale that will make all of them homeless.

The overwhelming generosity of neighbors when they have so little themselves. A last ditch effort to find funds to keep the children together.

A love blossoms between these two characters in spite of, or maybe because of their experiences.

This book made me cry a lot. A wonderful read that captures the emotions of the era and weaves them into a Christmas Miracle.

Thank you for your attention to even the smallest details, Patricia.

Christmas 2015 Blog About Author

They say your childhood dreams and aspirations are your purest, truest desires. They are your destiny. If that’s true, my destiny was written before I could even read on my own. Like most authors, I’ve carried on a life-long love affair with books. From the time I was about eight years old, my vision of life as a grown-up included having a dozen children and a room at the top of an old Victorian mansion where I would spend my days looking out at the sea and writing stories.

A dozen kids and solitude? Hey – I was eight. What did I know?

Except that I wanted to be a writer.

I couldn’t decide what to write, opting mostly for mysteries until I realized I couldn’t plot an escape route from a three-sided phone booth, much less a murder. It was during a six-week bedside vigil when mom was in the ICU that my sister introduced me to historical romances. I devoured them. The first time I thought “I can do this,” I felt a calm settle over me and a feeling of “coming home.” I was ready to run.

Life… Juggling marriage, a husband with a full-time job and full-time school, four children (I had to down-size my original vision – economics, you know), multiple jobs, my best friend’s cancer diagnosis that led both of us down a metaphysical path as we spent hours talking about destiny, intention, attraction, energy work and more. Life experiences. Rich and full.

It’s all led to this.

Where I was meant to be – right from the beginning.

Ms. Bond lives in the best place on earth – Western New York – not quite close enough to see the waterfront, but close enough that you’ll often find her there, camera and notebook in hand, patient, hero-inspiring husband nearby. “Only” four children, not a dozen, but count in their spouses and grandchildren, and she’s getting closer.

She may still try her hand at mysteries. She hasn’t seen a three-sided phone booth in years.

Synopsis

Blinded to the present…Holly Knight doesn’t have time for Christmas or for “closer” Ebenezer Hall. She can’t deny that the chemistry is sizzling hot, and things get even hotter when Ben’s friends and long-time lovers Justin and Kit arrive in Chicago. Can an infamous playboy and a hard-hearted corporate mogul ever admit to their heart’s desires? Or will it take a little holiday magic for them to realize that all they want for Christmas is each other?

Never would she suspect someone would ever see it, let alone make it come true.

Excerpt

“Holly,” Ben whispered in her ear, “Truly, if this is weird for you, tell me. It’s okay.”
“And…” she looked at Kit, then at Justin, then finally turned to face Ben once more. “…if it’s weird, but I’m…interested, anyway?”
Ben smiled, gloriously, his gray eyes lighting up. “Then we shall all do our best to ensure you never regret it.”
“You’ve been pretty good at keeping your promises.”
“So I have. And I promise you an evening you’ll never forget.”
“We promise,” Kit said, coming around behind the sofa and laying a hand on her shoulder, giving it a small squeeze.
Justin knelt with one knee on the sofa next to her. “Just tell us if there’s anything you want. Anything at all.”
“Anything?”
Her body was really heating up. Ben was warm and solid next to her, and the anticipation in the air was electric. She could sense the testosterone, the excitement. And the idea that they might all be getting hard, all at once, at that moment, was one of the biggest thrills of her life.
Even better knowing there was much more to come.
Ben pulled her closer and kissed her cheek. “Tell us, Holly.”
“I don’t know if…any of you have ever been lovers?”
Kit laughed, a deep rumble in his chest. “All of us.”
“All of you together?”
“Sometimes, yes,” Ben told her. “Or Justin and Kit. Or Kit and me. Justin and me. Or two of us, or all of us with a woman. In every possible combination.”
God, her body was on fire simply imagining it. And it was going to happen!
“What is it you want, sweetheart? Tell me. Tell us.”
She nearly groaned aloud. “I want it all,” she said quietly.
“Then you shall have it,” Ben said.
She didn’t know if he sent the others a signal she missed, but Justin peeled his sweater off just as Kit did, and she barely had time to turn and take in Kit’s leanly-muscled frame before Ben and Justin pulled her sweater over her head.
“Do you want them to kiss you, Holly?” Ben asked her.
Was that a trick question?
“Oh, yes. And I really want to see you kiss each other.”
“I have a feeling we’re all going to enjoy this,” Justin said, leaning across her lap and reaching out to pull Ben to him.
Their mouths met, two sets of lush male lips, and it was one of the hottest things she’d ever seen. Their kissing was rough, hard, pure male. She ached all over to be touched. And as if in answer to her silent need, Kit brushed her hair to one side, then slid his hands over her bare shoulders and down to cover her breasts. Her nipples came up hard beneath her black silk bra.
“Mmm…”
He bent and kissed the back of her neck, making her shiver. He kissed her over and over, soft, feathering kisses all over her skin: her nape, between her shoulder blades, the tops of her shoulders. He cupped her breasts with his big hands, his thumbs stroking her nipples through the silk. And all the while Justin and Ben were kissing, making out like crazy, everything getting more heated.
Justin yanked Ben’s sweater over his head and ran his hands over Ben’s chest. They stood, Ben’s arm slipping from her waist to Justin’s, while Justin pulled Ben closer with a hand on his ass. Their bodies came together, bare chest to bare chest, and their mouths met once more.
Kit was bending over the back of the sofa, his hands diving under her bra. “Let’s have this off,” he said, tugging down her bra straps.
“Yes. Take it off. Please.”
She heard his small chuckle as he unsnapped the bra, slid it from her shoulders.
His fingertips brushed her bare skin. Her nipples were almost impossibly hard. She grabbed Kit’s forearms, ran her hands over the muscle there. She needed more.
“Kit…Ben?”
Ben pulled back from Justin, and she could see his breath heaving in his chest. “Tell us, beautiful girl.”
“I need my clothes off. And yours. All of you.”
Ben flashed her a grin, his eyes full of smoke and need. “Your wish is our command. And our great pleasure. Strip it down, boys.”
Ben slid his jeans off, and he was fully hard, his gorgeous cock making her mouth water. She wanted to touch him. She wanted Kit or Justin to even more.
To her right Justin tore his jeans off, then his black boxer-briefs. His erect cock was longer than Ben’s, if not as thick, but beautiful in its own way. He watched her, his dark eyes aglow as he gave it one long, slow stroke.
“Is this what you wanted to see, Holly?” he asked.
“Oh, yes,” she murmured.
Kit kissed her neck once more, said quietly, “Three is even better than two.”
He released her and came around the front of the sofa to stand before her. He unzipped his jeans and kicked his way out of them. Like Ben, he wore nothing underneath.
She pulled in a sharp breath.
His thick cock was a lovely golden shade, the head a bit darker. He was rock-hard, his cock coming up against his lean abs.
She swallowed, bit her lip. Her mouth was actually watering.
“Come here, beauty,” he said, pulling her to her feet. “We need to undress you now.”
Ben stood on one side of her and Justin on the other as Kit knelt and pulled her boots off while the others steadied her. Then Ben unzipped her jeans and Justin and Kit helped her out of them.
Ben nuzzled her ear. “Such lovely underwear, it’s almost a shame.”
“But she was specific,” Justin said.
Kit winked at her as he reached to pull her silk thong down, leaving them all naked. So much naked flesh…
“I have to say…” Her voice was quavering, but she couldn’t find it in herself to care. “I have to say, this is a little overwhelming. I hardly know where to start.”
Ben stroked a hand up her side, under the curve of her breast. “Don’t worry. I’m fairly certain it’ll come naturally to you.”
There were hands all over her then, stroking her thighs, her stomach, her breasts. Ben turned her face to his and kissed her, and she could taste the masculine flavor of Justin on his lips. Desire was burning her up, like fire in her aching breasts, in her clenching sex. She kissed Ben harder, held onto him.
Hands moved over her body, cupped her breasts, teasing and pinching her nipples. More hands parting her thighs, diving in between them, stroking at her tender pussy lips. She spread wider, and as Ben’s tongue swirled over hers it almost felt as if the fingers sliding in the folds of her soaking pussy were his tongue, licking her, pressing on her clit.
She felt Justin moving in closer beside her, the hard muscles of his thigh next to hers, and she reached blindly, found his cock, warm and pulsing in her hand. She began to stroke..

Synopsis

Avoiding the future… Video game mogul, philanthropist and heir to the Knight empire, Tim Crichton has three F-zones—the friend zone, the family zone, and the, er… fun-buddy zone. No crossover is allowed because it might create a fourth—the forever zone—and Tim knows forever just isn’t in the cards for him. But with Peter and Miranda together, a little Christmas magic quickly escalates to a scorching holiday encounter that will either rescue Tim from a lonely future…or cost him the two most important people in his life.

Excerpt

“Ohhhhh, fuck,” he groaned, sliding his hands into her hair as he took deep, shaky breaths.
Thrilled by the way his cock seemed to thicken in her mouth, she swirled her tongue over it, following the ridge all the way around and up into the hollow on the underside. It didn’t feel anything like the fake ones she’d practiced on, and oh, what a difference! Hot, smooth, paper-thin flesh barely concealed the vibrant physiology inside. With her tongue, she could feel his veins along the surface, and underneath, the unyielding columns that seemed to grow even harder as she explored him. It was nothing short of miraculous.
And the scent of him… God, she’d never be able to put one of those silicone toys in her mouth again after experiencing this. She inhaled deeply, savoring the bouquet of warm denim, soap and man, memorizing it for future fantasies.
Curious beyond reason, she pushed her tongue into the opening at the tip and tasted something silky and musky, something that made her heart pound and her mouth water.
He gasped and pushed her head down a little. “Miranda, suck. Please.”
She thought about the honey bear on the table and decided to leave it there. She liked the taste of Peter all by himself.
Taking as much of him into her mouth as she could, she sucked, milking him with her tongue, and watched as the sac holding his balls drew up tighter. Fascinated, she stroked it with a finger. It felt completely different from the flesh in her mouth, a little rough and a little hairy except for a smooth, silken patch underneath.
Peter’s breathing grew rough, every exhale almost a moan. Though his hands tightened in her hair, he said, “You might want to stop.”
She pulled away and shook her head, breathing almost as hard as he was. “I want to taste it.”
“You want me to come?” he asked tightly.
“Yes. Tell me what you like.
“I can do that.” He blew out a breath. “Get me nice and wet with your mouth.”
Giving him a little smile, she said, “I can do that.”
When she leaned down again, he put his hand on her thigh. “Wait. Take off the dress first. I want to see you.”
Miranda flushed but obeyed, reaching behind her neck with both hands to lower the zipper. When it was between her shoulder blades, she reached up behind her with her left hand to bring it down to her hips and then shrugged out of the bodice. The sheer white balconet bra and thong set she’d worn tonight, just to bolster her courage and make her feel ultra-feminine, had been insanely expensive, but the look on Peter’s face as she shimmied out of her dress made it worth every penny.
“Thank you, Frosty,” he murmured, wrapping the fingers of one hand around her neck before dragging them slowly down her sternum and stomach.
“Frosty?”
Peter nodded, sliding his hand around to rub her bare bottom. “Frosty the doorman gave me an angel for Christmas.”
“Oh he did?” she asked with a quizzical smile.
“He did. Now, where were we?”
“Right about here, I think.” She opened her mouth over him once again, working up as much moisture as she could and painting it onto his rigid flesh with her lips and tongue.
“Mmmm, that’s very nice,” he said, rubbing her hip. “Now stroke it, slow and hard. Milk it.”
Miranda bit her lip. God, this was so hot. Were men this turned on when women told them what to do?
Holding his eyes, she licked her hand provocatively.
“Asking for trouble, little girl,” he murmured, his lips curving lazily.
“Yes, I am,” she murmured back, meaning every word of it.
“Then you’ve found your man.” He took her hand and wrapped it around his slick shaft. Covering it with his own, he squeezed hard and dragged her palm up the thick length, twisting it over the head before dragging it back down to the base. He did it again, and then again. Then he folded one arm under his head and stroked her hip with the other while she flew solo.
As she performed, she watched Peter watch her hand. His mouth was slightly open, his eyelids at half-mast, and as he began to pant, color rose in his cheeks.
“Speed up a little,” he told her roughly. When she did, he pulled his arm out from under his head with a groan, gripped the top edge of the ottoman with both hands and began thrusting into her strokes. God, he looked magnificent, almost animalistic as he arched upward with his jeans around his thighs.
“Fuck, yes, that’s good.”
“You are so incredibly beautiful,” she breathed.
His eyes flashed open. “Miranda, suck,” he ground out. “Now.”
She leaned over without hesitating and sucked hard while he fucked her mouth. The way he held her head firmly in place made her nipples draw up tight and stirred the embers of desire between her legs into a blazing inferno. Within a minute, his legs began to shake and his thrusts grew shallow, and then he growled low and long.
“Get ready, angel,” he warned. “I’m going to come just…about…oh fuck…now.”
Miranda trembled with excitement when he pulled her head back until just the tip of him was still in her mouth. His whole body jerked as streams of hot, wet musk landed on her tongue in time with contractions she could feel with her lips. Her first instinct was to swallow, but she waited. When his hands relaxed on her head, she released him and sat up, rubbing his semen between her tongue and the roof of her mouth while she watched his cock, which didn’t go down as fast as she thought it would.
“Well, what do you think?” he asked between deep breaths.
She swallowed. “Not what I expected. It reminds me of oysters.”
He started laughing. “Dear Diary, performed BJ today. It tasted like oysters. Love, Miranda.” When she laughed too, he said, “You can chase it with some honey if you like. I won’t be offended.”
She shook her head, licking her lips and savoring the taste. “I’m good.”
“You are.” He pulled her down on top of him and kissed her silly, swiping his tongue all over the inside of her mouth as if he found the taste of his semen as enthralling as she did. Then he rolled them to their sides.
“So what else haven’t you tried? Have you ever been on the receiving end?” he asked, deftly unfastening her bra and drawing the strap down her arm.
She stiffened. “Um, I don’t think that’s—”
“Okay, so that would be no.” He rolled over on top of her and sat up, tossing her bra onto the couch behind him as he straddled her hips. Miranda couldn’t take her eyes off his cock, which still spilled out of his open jeans, its wet head resting on her abdomen. The casual intimacy of that sticky contact between them made her heart race and body heat.
“Beautiful little tits,” he murmured, cupping them with his hands and rubbing his thumbs gently over the hard points of her nipples.
Miranda moaned, unable to stop the slow roll of her hips in response.
“How daring are you, Miranda Girard?” Peter asked, with a challenging look.
Her breath caught in her throat. “How daring do you want me to be?”

MarleyInChains-1800x2700

Running from the past…Marley Knight-Williams has avoided the ghosts of her past for seventeen years. Now, after one thoughtless decision and too many margaritas, they’ve found her. Her memories, her heartache…and her men, Michael and Carlos. Just in time for the holidays. Time has changed them all, but it’s only banked the embers of their passion, and when the flames flare to life, they burn hotter than ever. Will the heat be enough to sear away the obstacles that stand between them? Or will it drive them apart before they can finish what they started all those years ago?

Excerpt

“What’s your wife bringing?”
Michael shut the door and furrowed his brow. “Excuse me?”
She wasn’t going to ask again. She walked over to the desk and touched the paperweight shaped like a boxing glove. She’d gotten that for Michael’s father when she was thirteen. It was still here.
“Marley,” he huffed out a disbelieving laugh. “My wife won’t be bringing anything. I’m not married.”
She shrugged, not turning to look at him, though she felt a rush of relief she knew she had no right to. “I was sure Jessica Ryan would have had you cornered before you hit twenty-one.”
“Jessica Ryan was already hooked up by the time I turned twenty-one.” Michael’s wry tone forced her to turn to face him. “She and Anna Poole are still together, as a matter of fact. They co-coach the cheerleading squad for our old high school.”
Jessica and Anna? Marley felt her eyes go wide. They’d been two of the most promiscuous girls in school. Who saw that coming? “I guess I’ve missed a lot.” She swallowed as she stared at the ridges of his stomach, the dark color of his nipples and the droplets of sweat cooling on his skin. She wanted to lick it off his body. Wanted to feel it on her skin. “Everything is so…um…different. I shouldn’t have come.”
“Not everything, princess,” he growled, moving closer slowly, as if he didn’t want to startle her. “Some things appear to be exactly the same.”
Did he mean the way she reacted to him whenever they were alone? The way her throat closed and her thighs heated whenever he looked at her the way he was looking at her now?
She’d imagined this office so many times. The cot in the corner where she and Michael had once lain in silence, listening to the grunts of the men working out downstairs while she allowed him to touch her. Just touch her. Over her clothes. On her newly budding breasts. Between her thighs. It had been exciting and forbidden. The possibility of being caught. The innocent eroticism of the moment.
Grown-up Marley wanted more. She imagined him bending her over the desk and taking her. Now, when everyone knew she was here. When they’d all be able to hear her cries of pleasure.
She really needed to get a hold of herself.
“I know about Carlos,” she said, shifting and feeling the denim of her jeans graze her sensitive sex. “I want to help. I just…I’m not sure what you want from me. Or why you think I could do anything at all.”
Michael smiled. “You’ve always been good at changing the subject, princess. But I’ll let it slide for now since you actually showed up. The answer is on the bookshelf. The envelope beneath the little tree.”
A small, potted evergreen. He was still doing that? They’d gotten one every year, decorated it carefully, then made sure to plant it somewhere the day after Christmas. So the memories would live on as long as the trees were growing. It was Carlos who’d started that tradition, but Marley had always loved the sentiment.
She walked over to the bookshelf near the window and lifted the pot. A crumpled, stained envelope, right where he said it would be. She opened it and began to read, feeling heat warm her cheeks and pain squeeze her heart. This was too intimate. Too personal. She didn’t have the right anymore. Not to have this kind of window into the tender soul of a man she hadn’t seen in so long. Oh, Carlos, she silently sighed. She hadn’t even seen him and he was already breaking her heart.
When she finished reading her sigh was shaky. “You think that’s what he wants? I don’t know if I can… Michael? What are you doing?”
He’d come up behind her, gripping her hips with his strong hands as he pressed his erection against the curve of her ass. “I can’t fucking help it, Marley. I’ll stop if you tell me to but, seeing you in here, like this—do you remember?”
He knew she did. He rocked his hips against her and she gasped, her fingers tightening on the pages of the letter as he slid his hands up to caress the sides of her breasts. Lightly. Teasingly.
His voice was rich with need. “I’m not talking about the touching, though I remember that too. I’m talking about that time you and Carlos caught me in here before the gym was open. When I’d slept here again because the family had descended and we had no more room in the house. That morning I woke up dreaming about you, still smelling your shampoo on the pillow. I was only seventeen. I didn’t have as much practice at control. Didn’t think I needed to.”
How could she have forgotten that? Her eyes closed and she could see it so clearly. She’d come in right before Carlos, both of them smiling in secret delight at the idea of waking him with their frozen hands and a bag of his favorite kolaches from the corner bakery.
She’d never seen an erection before. Certainly she’d never seen Michael’s. Never imagined she’d be so instantly titillated by the way he gripped it in his fist, his naked hips pumping upward as he gritted his teeth and made a sound that was almost one of pain.
Carlos had taken her hand in his and squeezed, trying to drag her backward without disturbing him. She’d resisted. She wasn’t sure why. She only knew she wanted to see more. Needed to see everything.
Michael’s voice in her ear told her he was remembering it too. “I opened my eyes just in time to see you lick your lips. Did you know you’d done that? Licked the same lips I was imagining wrapped around my cock?” He growled. “Knowing you were watching had me coming harder than I ever had. Watching those pretty green eyes go wide when you saw it happen—fuck—I knew in that moment that you wanted to know. What it tasted like. What I tasted like. Was I right?”
“Yes,” she whispered. Lost in the moment. The memories.
One hand slipped down again, unbuttoning the button of her jeans. “Tell me to stop, Marley.” When she didn’t, he slid his hand inside her panties until his fingers were pressed against her clit.
“There it is,” he sighed. “That’s what hasn’t changed. I still make you wet. Still make you want. After all this time, you still want to know, don’t you? Still want to know what could have happened. You must, because you haven’t pushed me away. Haven’t told me to stop or slapped my face.”
She shook her head, but they both knew she was a horrible liar. Even as she tried to deny it, she set the letter down and covered his hand with both of hers, forcing his fingers to press harder against her, to move lower.
Michael hummed. “Yeah, you still love this. The princess can hide in her tower all she wants, but we know the truth, you and I.” He lowered his voice to a whisper that skimmed across her cheek like a caress. “We know what a bad girl you are.”
She was bad. Jesus, she needed to stop him before she came. It had been so long—how could his touch still do this to her? It took away all her defenses. Made her ache for more. His middle finger slipped inside her with shallow thrusts and she gasped, her nails digging into the back of his hand until he growled.
The sound of the office door creaking open made her tense an instant before she heard the irritated male voice. “Jesus, Michael. In the middle of the day? If you have company you should at least lock the damn door.”

Some knew it could happen if a mission exploded. Double crossed by more than just Red Wolf. But now is their time to be reborn from the flames of a Phoenix. No longer imprisoned in the shadows. Fall Tree Blog - sm - Blurbs and Reviews

This collection was a gift in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Target: Tungsten

by Heather Long

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb

Bradley “Tungsten” Peck. Marine. Lover. Friend. He’s the man who can get anything, find anyone, and accomplish every goal. At least he was, before he lost the only woman who mattered…he won’t stop until he gets her back or she puts a bullet in him.

Fall Tree Blog - small review

This story starts the second chapter for the Elite Warrior Series.

When the ghosts removed their masks, I think my heart stopped for a moment. When Copper locked eyes with HIM, Tungsten/Brad, I thought my heart would break. Gabriel and Sachi are so good together, I couldn’t grasp the possibility they could end because of Brad. That he had been there all along with the others, watching and protecting and never said a word. Even Merc/John didn’t trust Tungsten/Brad, and they had been friends.

Oddly enough I trusted that something good would come out of this difficult situation.

As the story unfolds with Sachi, Gabriel and Brad in an isolated cabin in Montana, and John keeping watch outside. Deep cover to protect them from someone looking diligently for Brad and possibly Sachi.

But before they can pursue a mission, Sachi either has to choose or they need another plan. This is part of one of my favorite conversations with John and Sachi while they were on a run.

“I don’t want to choose between them. She didn’t and she wouldn’t. In some ways, she’d made her choice. Gabriel allowed Brad to be a part of them, Gabriel let him in, and she embraced the choice because Gabriel saw what she needed. If she had to choose…

“I suppose this means I have to keep his sorry ass alive.” John shook his head at her. “Two men?”

“I’m a demanding woman, what can I say?”

“Greedy bitch.” But he said with a hint of a smile. “Fine. I’ll keep the jackass alive. But one fucking step out of line…”

Closing the distance between them, she gave him a hug. “Yeah, yeah. They’ll never see you coming.”

The question is can the men share her long term? Can she accept them both for forever?

What ensues is a sizzling hot relationship, followed by a yet another difficult mission. I couldn’t stop reading, I had to know what would happen next.

Zinc’s Heart

by Rebecca Royce

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb

Zinc has nothing to prove–and everything to lose.

Fall Tree Blog - small review

Zinc wanted one thing from Steele when he took off his mask, the answer to a question. The question – Why did you leave me behind? Like all the other Zinc lost much when he became a Ghost. Only he didn’t have the years of freedom the others had in between.

What happens when it wasn’t answered immediately was painful for both of them. Steele with a broken face literally, that required surgery and Zinc with no relief from the physical and emotional pain.

This book takes off quickly and Zinc’s mission is to get Steele’s sister Sarah out of the clutches of one of Red Wolf’s minions. Walter David. David is, among other things, a stop on the human trafficking pathway.

Sarah a CIA agent was taken for asking the wrong kind of questions about her brother Steele and Zinc’s deaths. Questions that led her to Red Wolf.

Zinc had always been attracted to Sarah, but she was off limits because of being his best friends sister. Now she was being held a sexual captive. His mission is to get her out. A mission that rapidly goes to hell.

Forced to bail on the plane after discovering Titanium’s pilot was working with Red Wolf. Then not able to return to headquarters because of possible infiltration. Sarah and Zinc/Zach are on the run until it’s safe to go in.

Zinc has migraines and issues with wrong words after one due to his healing brain. A favorite passage is from the first stop on their journey.

“Do you know what I meant although I said the wrong thing? Probably if I try to self correct over the next few minutes I will continue to misspeak. So, I’m hoping you know what I…”

As an answer, she placed the keycard in his outstretched hand. “Don’t worry, I speak Zach.”

He laughed at her response, the reaction catching him by surprise. “Then you’d be the only one. I’m not sure I speak me anymore.”

Sarah has always fantasized about Zach, she figured she wasn’t his type.  She couldn’t have been more wrong.  These guys fall hard and fast, Zach is no exception.

The action is intense and the sex is hotter than hot. And all that’s before her brother finds out.

Lithium’s Rescue

by Sabrina York

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb

He will save her…unless she saves him first.

Fall Tree Blog - small review

Marilyn is an analyst for a high tech company with government contracts. When she discovers her boss is committing treason, she contacts an old family friend.

When he fails to show, she learns how far reaching her boss’ arm really is. He was watching and listening to her in her home and is sending someone to collect her.

Lithium is sent to collect an informant, and get her safely to headquarters. However, her boss has everyone one of his employees wired and tracked with some very high tech gadgets.

A favorite passage is a conversation they have while traveling to an airstrip.

“Aside from all that, I suspect you’re a perv.” This, she said in a soft, teasing tone.

“I’m not a perv.”

“You made me strip.”

“You were covered with trackers.”

“You watched.”

“I needed to make sure we got them all.”

“”Do you suppose there was one up my ass?”

“Do you want me to check?”

That shut her up. It was a long while before she said, “You rubbed your erection against me.”

“I did not.” His neck heated.

“You did too. Back there in the stairwell. I felt it.”

Prickles danced on his spine. “I was not rubbing my erection against you. I was trying to make you shut up.”

“Is that how you make a woman shut up? A coo. “Rub your cock against her?”

“The idea has merit.” Oh yeah. He could visualize just the thing. The perfect way to make her shut up. Probably not a good idea while he was driving.

I love Marilyn, so much spunk, and Lithium just falls into her traps. Good thing she’s not a bad guy.  Lots of heat in more ways than one. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.

Thallium’s Submission

by Anna Alexander

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb
From now on the only orders he will follow are hers.

Fall Tree Blog - small review

A witness against a gang helping Red Wolf by providing a safe transport from Dallas to Mexico, is due to testify, against her ex-husband, the leader of the gang. Being under protective custody, in a safe house with two Texas marshals isn’t enough. There is a contract out on her and they won’t stop looking until the threat to their passageway is eliminated. This book explodes with action practically from the first page.  The bad guys show up at the same time as the Elite crew and getting Athena out safe becomes difficult.

I mean really who do you trust when everyone around you is shooting?

After a second location is compromised, Thallium takes off with Athena and disposes of all tracking devices even his own. His only thoughts to keep her safe and off the grid until the trial. The man has some pretty cool secrets.

One of my favorite scenes is their first morning together and it begins to show Thallium’s deep need to take care of her in other ways than just protection.

“Don’t get up on my account. I can take care of myself. Besides you need rest too.”

“I want to take care of you. Why don’t you go freshen up while I start b-breakfast?

I need to do a thorough check of  our provisions anyway. Make sure we have everything we need for the next two weeks. I bought you some clothes, but…”

“But what?”

He glanced away as a bit of pink hit his cheeks. “I like the way you look wearing my t-shirt.”

Oh, yeah. She was going to enjoy their time in captivity.

“I’ll keep that in mind,” she said, and picked up the bag he had placed by the front door. “I won’t be long.”

From here on it gets really interesting. I loved the build of this relationship. It’s sweet and it’s hot and you almost forget for a moment there is danger.

Nickel’s Wounds

by Saranna DeWylde

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb

Hell hath no fury like a Marine who’s lost her way. Beauty was once her currency, but for a woman who can’t feel anything but agony, she has nothing left. Except the vengeance that could destroy the one man whose love could teach her how to save herself.

Fall Tree Blog - small review

Nickel’s wounds are much deeper than the external ones and not all are from her service. Her need for revenge is intense and in this offering of the series we see the characters as who they once were as well as who they are today. This passage is from Marcus’ thoughts after giving Katarina a massage to help her pain. It really brings his devotion to her and her trust in him to the forefront.

When not on a mission, he preferred to sleep naked, but he changed in to a pair of boxer briefs and slid in to the bed.

She sighed in  her sleep and turned into him, blanket wrapped tightly around herself.

They’d slept together on missions, had huddled together for warmth and safety.

But this was the first time she’d fallen asleep after her massage, in his bed, and had asked him to stay with her.

He stared out into the darkness for a long time before he slept. As close as he was to her at the moment, within a breath of touch, he’d never felt farther away.

Marcus/Tin has to go back to his roots as a gang member to secure an invitation to  Fedir Yukodvich’s Clubhouse . To attend a gathering of heavy hitters in human trafficking buying and selling. The problem, he has to go  in with Nickel/Katarina and is afraid the mission will throw them both into a place from which they will never recover.

Katarina knows this mission can change the two of them forever, but she never imagined the depth of those changes. She gets pain at touch but still uses her body in missions by turning herself off, her way of surviving. Only Marcus can touch her without that pain most times, and only because of their deep, trusting, friendship.

This book had me crying and holding my breath a good deal of the time.  Very emotional and very tense read. I loved and felt every single word.

5 Contented Purrs for Saranna!

Titanium’s Sacrifice

by Jennifer Kacey

Fall Tree Blog - small blurb

Titanium. Warbucks. Commander. Brother. He is all of those things. And none of them. Giving up everything to save the men and women under his command was easy until it comes to one…last…sacrifice

Fall Tree Blog - small review

Titanium’s story is perhaps the most emotional of all of the previous. In this one we learn why Titanium is so invested in bringing down Red Wolf, why he has no choice. It caused my heart to ache as I read the explanation as given to Chrome and Steele. The betrayal by one of their own, brought to light as well as the reasons behind Elite Recon being formed and how and why everyone was extracted instead of just Titanium’s team.

We meet Charles the man behind Titanium, the one who takes the weight of the world and his teams on his shoulders with only Poppy, Raine and his precious dog Annie as his support system.

We discover the secret longing Raine has for her charge and see her complete devotion to him not only as a patient but as a man. One of my favorite scenes is when the team gangs up on him and gifts him with a way to ride on a motorcycle again. Which leads to the admission of his love and lust for Raine. This is a little peek.

The crank of the engine turning over and the throaty growl bouncing around the hangar sucker punched him in the gut.

“Coming?” She asked louder than the last time to be heard over the call of the bike. “I’ve been riding for years if it makes you feel any better. No one else is here so it’s totally up to you. No one will make you feel bad if you don’t come.”

“None but those who have bets placed on whether or not I’ll pussy out.”

Her laugh sounded like sex with the purr of the engine seducing him. “Well, there is that but you can deal with them tomorrow. I can handle a big machine between my legs.” She didn’t pause for him to make some funny retort at her innuendo, not that he could have, since his mouth had gone dry. “Take a walk on the wild side, Charles. I promise to keep your virtue safe.”

He took a step forward, reaching for her, and then another.

Her palm slid along his, guiding him behind her. She was already seated and he swung a leg over the seat and sat down. Tucking up close behind her, there was no way she could miss he was hard. “And what about your virtue? Who will protect yours while we’re out?”

So many secrets are revealed on the difficult road leading all of them slowly and somewhat painfully to become a family not by blood but choice.

A story that brings tears and laughter, pain and healing. Keep the tissues close, you’ll need a lot of them.

Bravo, Jennifer! A fitting close to this installment of the Elite Warrior Series. I can’t wait to see what’s next for these amazing men and women.

Fall Tree Blog - sm - My review

Nothing says holiday like fresh baked goods, and lots of party foods. No one makes them better than Tiffany and when a storm threatens, she decides to move everything from Beary Sweets to her home. She doesn’t want the food to be stuck far away from the Winter Celebrations of Solstice and Matings.

In the process of moving things to the truck she spots the cake topper she thought she misplaced, out of her reach so she climbs up falls and breaks her ankle.  Shouldn’t be too big a deal Holt will fix her up and she’ll be good as new.

Only Holt doesn’t do a quick heal and quickly finds himself recruited to help. All it takes is a kiss that he’s not sure how happened and he’s fleeing the scene. Leaving Tiffany feeling hurt and rejected thinking he doesn’t feel the mating pull.

That all changes the next day after completing the prep for the next day’s celebration. Tiffany’s Mom takes Kaylee off for the rest of the day, leaving Holt and Tiffany alone. Subtle they aren’t, but they are shifters after all. This was a favorite scene.

Instead of picking up the crutch, he scooped her up in his arms and carried her to the sofa. “Want anything to eat?”

“Yes, please. There are pre-portioned meals in the freezer.”

He frowned, not at all liking the idea of her dieting. “What for?”

Tiffany laughed. “I get so busy working on new recipes and with the day-to-day at the café, that when I settle down, I’m too tired to cook. So, once a week I cook all my meals for the week and freeze them.”

His cheeks heated with embarrassment. “I’m sorry…”

She pressed a finger to his lips and gave him a smile that made his pants uncomfortable. “Shush. Go warm us up something to eat.”

“Yes, ma’am.” Before he straightened, he leaned in and kissed her. Pleasure exploded across his senses. When their tongues touched, a shot of electrified energy blasted through him.

Reluctantly, he ended the kiss and pressed his forehead to hers. A soft sigh escaped Tiffany. “If you have no intentions to claim me as your mate, you need to leave.”

What? He drew back, confused, and stared into her blue gaze. “Trust me, I have every intention, but I thought you needed time. That we needed time to…I don’t know, date or something.”

She nibbled on her bottom lip briefly before replying. “Dating is for humans. We’ve known each other all my life, even became friends. There’s no one else I’d rather be mated to.”

He scooped her up and proceeded down the hall, thoughts of food forgotten.

Now we can’t have everything go smoothly even at the holidays so the storm has to throw some wrenches into the mix. Not enough to spoil the ceremonies but enough to cause some angst.

Lots of love, laughter and very few tears. A perfect holiday read.

Synopsis

Sarah

In my wild, reckless past Carlos ‘Beach’ Rodriguez would have been my ideal man. He’s handsome, experienced, rich, kind, and in complete control of his destiny. Unfortunately he’s also a criminal, the President of an outlaw motorcycle club, and I’ve sworn off bad boys in my efforts to live my dream of being normal. It would be so much easier to resist him if he hadn’t saved my life more than once and didn’t treat me like his queen.

Beach

Gorgeous, smart, and deadly, Sarah is my ideal woman, even if she is almost young enough to be my daughter. On the surface she’s one of the toughest females I’ve ever met, but underneath all that hard beauty and menace lies an incredibly tender heart that’s been damaged in the past. Winning her love is gonna be a challenge, but I’m determined to have her as my old lady and I’ll do whatever I have to in order to make that happen. That would be a hell of a lot easier to do if people weren’t trying to kill us all the time.

Synopsis

Everything I thought I knew about Sarah just went out the window. She is far more complex than I thought and the perfect match for Beach.

In this, part one of their story, we get to see part of Sarah’s very different and very disturbing upbringing with her mother.

Followed by her retirement from pole-dancing where she meets Beach. The attraction is instantaneous and mutual but Sarah doesn’t trust anyone.  Here’s just a small bit from when they meet.

While I wanted to follow him wherever he wanted to take me, I couldn’t make it that easy for him. “Is the party too much for you, old man?”

Instead of getting offended, he full-out grinned and I swear my heart skipped a beat. “Feisty. I like that in a woman. Come with me, Ms. Sarah. I promise you nothing will harm you while you’re in my care. You can trust me.”

“Trust you?” I meant for it to come out in a scoffing manner, but instead they were a light whisper. I wasn’t even sure he heard over the now wailing electric guitar perfectly complimenting the pounding drums of the music throbbing around us.

Lots of heart pounding excitement, with battles, kidnapping and displays of ingenuity and strength by both of them. Beach may be powerful and scary but Sarah is seriously scary and beautiful.

A memorable meeting with Beach’s Mom and Sarah’s step-mother, Mimi (Lady Death), and lets not forget Mike (Sarah’s dad).

Off the charts, hot sex and oh the meeting of Sarah and the Sweet Butts.

A book you will not be able to put down, it will leave you yearning for the next one.

AboutTheAuthor

Ann Mayburn

With over forty published books, Ann is Queen of the Castle to her husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she’s been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead-though she will deny to her children that it ever happened. From a young Ann has had a love affair with books would read everything she could get her hands on. As Ann grew older, and her hormones kicked in, she discovered bodice ripping Fabio-esque romance novels. They were great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she’s never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her ‘sexy space’ and has accepted that her Muse has a severe case of ADD.
